This place is really great, great doner kebab, good fries, and outdoor seating too! Only the toilets are a bit dirty.

A good kebab, but only in a bun. The bun was perfectly baked and crispy. A very large selection of salads. It's also topped with fried onions. I also had the tortilla, but definitely the bun.

Some of the meat was raw. And the boss wasn't friendly, unfortunately not down-to-earth.

Best kebab we’ve had. A must try in Dortmund!

The taste was quite good, not top-notch, but definitely 8/10. However, the doner kebab was very sparsely filled. First, it was just salad, then just meat. Furthermore, the doner was barely edible. It fell apart after two bites and became a doner plate. Generally, I appreciate it when ingredients aren't skimped on, but nobody likes an overstuffed doner kebab. They should just make the bread bigger. But the staff was friendly and pleasant.

Dirty. The tables aren't cleaned and the floor is filthy. McDonald's has more charm. They advertise steak doner, and on a Saturday at 7 p.m., nobody's there? Furthermore, the waitstaff shouldn't be chewing gum like cows and playing on their phones while customers are placing orders. The doner was okay, but nothing special. Only when the owner apparently came into the restaurant did the atmosphere become a bit more lively, and you could see him cursing because the temporary staff had completely burned the doner kebab. Well, he had to throw a lot of it away. Nowhere will I go again.

I thought the doner kebab was really bad. I had the steak, which was okay. But the rest was just awful. And definitely not for a ridiculous €12! That's ridiculous. Plus, they used the wrong sauces. It all seems very disorganized. I'll never be able to justify that price 😂

The doner kebab is no longer good, unfortunately. I had a doner plate with chicken. The portion size was good for the price (€15), and ketchup and mayo were included at no extra charge. The hot sauce was indeed hot, but it was also mayo- or yogurt-based, or something similar. I thought the "real" sauce was very good. What really bothered me was that they only provided disposable cutlery, and even then, only forks. (It's probably cheaper, but they should still just get metal forks.)

My doner kebab was amazing. My first time having a steak doner, and I have to say, it was worth the price. I think I made a really good choice of toppings and especially sauces. But not my colleague. I'm not sure if he was just too clueless to tell the friendly doner vendor "please, no spicy," or if he simply missed it in the hustle and bustle. However, it was quite a sight to see him gasping for air after eating the fiery sauce, his eyes watering, and finally running to the fridge to drench himself with an ayran. All in all: a successful meal.

Best kebab in North Rhine-Westphalia!! 🥙🤩 I haven't had a kebab this good in a long time. Finally, a regular, well-made, delicious flatbread, in the triangular shape it should be. Plus, there's a good selection of free extra toppings, and the size is perfect. A bit overpriced for €9, and the shop seems untidy, but the kebab is really pretty perfect.

Punchline: incredible flavour — best Doner I have ever tried. We visited Dortmund for a business trip from Canada and UK and all wanted an authentic Doner experience. Google reviews pointed us to Echter — for the right reason! Line-up out the door when we arrived and while the wait to order was 15-20 minutes, it was well worth it. Most of us got the chicken sandwich with all the fixings and it was incredible! + some fries on the side with their garlic dip 👌… So much flavour and their sauces made the experience! We ate on the picnic benches right outside as it was a warm night but plenty of room inside as well. There are lots of other Doner spots in the area right beside Echter, but don’t be influenced. Wait in line, it’s worth it! Super reasonably priced, for 12 people we paid less than 150 euro!! 🙌 NOTE: they do not serve beer here unfortunately, but we went around corner to the quick-mart and bought some roadies to enjoy with dinner.

Nevertheless, in my opinion, it's by no means the best kebab in Dortmund, probably not even among the top 5. What surprises me, however, is that hardly any other review mentions a point that struck me as particularly negative: the prices. I'm really not someone who quickly says, "That's too expensive." But what's happening here is a prime example of how many kebab shops are currently evolving. About three years ago, a veal kebab here cost €6.50. Today, you pay €9, and that's for chicken or veal! Frankly, I wonder how this steep price increase is justified. The bread is a standard flatbread, the meat a typical industrial product, nothing special. So why this price? I don't want to accuse anyone of any intention, but in my opinion, the price-performance ratio here is simply no longer right. If even a well-known YouTuber like "Holle," who uses his own high-quality meat, develops his own sauces, and offers fresh bread, sells his kebab in Hamburg for €9.50, how can you get the same price for a regular product here? My impression is that many operators are currently trying to profit from the general hype surrounding "premium kebabs" without delivering the corresponding quality. I think €9 for a completely standard veal/chicken kebab is excessive. I used to be a regular customer, but at these prices, I'm no longer going to pay. It's a shame that some people have become so greedy. In my opinion, a kebab like this should cost a maximum of €7.50. Anything above that just doesn't feel fair.

Top döner crispy so more is not recommended

So, anyone talking about a real Berlin kebab has obviously never been to Berlin. On the way back to Berlin, I changed trains in Dortmund and was delayed for a bit. I trusted the reviews and the names and ordered a kebab here. The veal was good. But then it had nothing to do with a Berlin kebab. The sauces were very bland, far too watery, and tasteless. Offered grilled vegetables??? Then they asked for some other gimmick, like extra cheese or fried onions??? Even though I ordered a kebab to eat in, it was wrapped in aluminum foil, and I ended up paying €9!! for a kebab in an inauthentic bun. So, I can only recommend this place to tourists or some amateurs.

I prefered steak döner and I can confidently claim that I ate absolute better döners in Cologne. What I ate was not a döner, I think. It is a good meal I liked the taste, but its not a döner.

The owners are warm and hospitable – we were treated like royalty. 🙏 The kebab itself was simply divine: homemade sauce, crisp ingredients, and a perfect Mexican spice. 😋😋😋😋😋😋 For our drink, we had Elephant Bay iced tea – a dreamy combination. ♥️ One thing is for sure: We'll definitely be back! I went there to eat a kebab with meat from a halal farm. Positive: They don't sell dirty Coca-Cola. Less positive: It's far too expensive for the quality. Too hectic. And, well, the hygiene could be a lot better. Young people seem to like it.

The doner is actually incredibly delicious and one of the best, but my veggie doner/dürum are always much smaller than normal, and then paying the same price is absolutely outrageous. My vegetarian dürüm also had quite a bit of meat in it because the same tongs used for the meat were used for the grilled vegetables. It's so outrageous that the tongs can't be cleaned, or they just use one for the grilled vegetables because there's still so much meat hanging on them, which is all what ended up in my dürüm. Actually, 0 stars!!!!

Pure disappointment – absolutely not justified for €10. I ordered a steak doner kebab with everything, which cost €10. What I got was simply a disgrace: There was hardly any "steak" to be seen – it felt like maybe a few grams of meat. Instead, the doner kebab was full of cheap salad that wasn't particularly fresh or tasted of anything. The bread was dry, the proportions completely off. The whole thing felt like a salad roll with traces of meat, but certainly not a juicy, wholesome steak doner kebab. And all this during your lunch break, when you only have half an hour and are counting on a decent meal. That leaves no time to go anywhere else – and honestly: I feel ripped off. I'm not writing this out of frustration, but to prevent others from making the same mistake. For €10, you can get significantly higher quality, more honesty, and simply better food elsewhere. For me, that was definitely the last time.
