Due Fratelli Ristorante in Bremen

My son-in-law reserved the restaurant in advance because of the award for a special chef's hat. However, the reality of this very expensive restaurant is more style than substance. The decor initially appears elegant and inviting. However, we found the empty wine, prosecco, and other bottles on the small wall ledges completely unacceptable. Although three tables for four were set, we were asked to sit at another table that was only set for four people. We assumed this would be quickly rectified, but it wasn't. It only happened after we asked. The tables were different heights and had different tablecloths. The wine we initially ordered was supposedly unavailable. Therefore, the waiter brought a similar one, without mentioning the price difference. My daughter and her husband enjoyed the appetizers, vitello tonnato and bruschetta. My grandson's pizza was far too undercooked, and the salami and mortadella he selected arrived cold on the baked pizza, resulting in a poor taste. My daughter chose carpaccio as her main course, which was very tough. My son-in-law's meat dish came with a side of fries in a basket placed in the middle of the plate, surrounded by the meat. Completely unacceptable. My grilled goat cheese was served with a small beetroot salad; the three tiny pieces, like all the other dishes, fell far short of what this restaurant is supposed to be special about. It's not recommended, as the price and quality are completely out of whack. Far too much money for substandard food. The service was simply overwhelmed in several areas, even though we were the only guests (just the two of us).

Great Italian restaurant right by the market. You can hear the Bremen Town Musicians crowing, meowing, and barking. Excellent service, well-trained staff, and highly recommended food. Not exactly cheap, but appropriate for the central location.

What a wonderfully cozy restaurant! It has a great atmosphere, is cozy, and luxurious. Super friendly staff. The food was delicious, it was finger-licking good. Everything is freshly prepared, and the flavors are fantastic! If you're in Bremen, you definitely have to eat here!

We went there for lunch for the first time and had a surprise menu (2 courses) and veal with vegetables – not outstanding, but overall very decent 👌🏻‼️ The price/performance ratio for the meal was good, BUT: a 0.2 l white wine (Luganer) by the glass for €15 (although it was good) is absolutely overpriced ‼️ Will we come back again?

Ordered pasta from the parmesan loaf — it was delicious! I’d give it an 8 out of 10. The waiter (Andreas, if I’m not mistaken) was very helpful and friendly! We really enjoyed eating there :) Though I noticed some of the other waiters seemed a bit less motivated from their gestures 😁

GOOD ITALIAN RESTAURANT IN UPGRADED STYLE

The location opposite Bremen City Hall is certainly impressive, but that's because of the historic setting. The food was tasty and decent, but the price-performance ratio was unfortunately too high. However, there was one point that caused me to cancel a subsequent reservation for the same evening: I had ordered a dessert and was brought a different dessert instead. When I complained, I was told that the dessert I ordered was "not ready yet" and that they had therefore brought me an alternative. First of all, this is completely unacceptable without first discussing it with the customer! Secondly, they don't deduct the price for the more expensive dessert from the customer and, in response to my objection, they vigorously claim that the delivered dessert (€5 less than the ordered dessert according to the menu!) was even more valuable. I consider this behavior to be customer fraud! POSTSCRIPT: Today, they tried for the second time to have my review deleted! The first time was on October 6, 2025, and my appeal against the removal was granted by the Google team on October 7, 2025, and my review was put back online. As I've since read in other critical reviews, there have also been multiple attempts to have the critical reviews removed.

The atmosphere was good and the service was OK. We were only there once. The food may be generally good, but not pizza. The salami tasted good but the crust was not good. A bottle of water was €10!

The prices are unjustified. The food is too salty, the manager is rude. I don't understand how the other reviews came about. They advertise homemade gluten-free pasta, but we got it from a box... The price is still €26. A disgrace.

Rarely have we eaten so badly!!! We gladly accepted the antipasti platter offered to us... we got four tiered plates for over 100 euros. The shrimp smelled strong and didn't taste good. The gluten-free antipasti platter had bread on it, even though it was confirmed several times that it was gluten-free... thank you very much! The Iberico pork couldn't save it... it was nothing special... the best thing was the wine to wash it down with. 520 euros and an impertinent boss who denies everything and treats the waiters badly... never had such a bad experience! This message was just deleted! I've now reposted it because it's true. It's unbelievable that such messages can simply be deleted, while messages initiated by the owner themselves remain. It's quite striking that most five-star reviews are written in Spanish.

We arrived with high expectations based on the many positive reviews. Unfortunately, the tiered starter had a strong smell of fish, which spoiled our appetite for the main course. The gnocchi and Iberico were okay, but the service was stressed and overwhelmed, and at times arrogant. We won't be back.

Today we enjoyed an excellent dining experience. The staff suggested we start with an appetizer and continue with pasta in a wheel; both dishes were delicious. The service and quality exceeded our expectations. Without a doubt, a 100% recommended restaurant.

My wife and I went there to celebrate our anniversary. We ordered mixed antipasti (the best I've ever eaten in my life). The host recommended a delicious rosé wine. For the main course, my wife ordered fish, which was wonderful, although the side dish could have been larger. I ordered the famous Parmesan pasta in a cheese wheel. They suggested I order it with shrimp, and I did—I don't regret it. What a treat! We'll be back!!!!!

Excellent dishes, well-prepared with a wonderful taste to them. The waiters were super helpful and foreigners-friendly. We had no problem ordering nor receiving the food. The only minus was the wait time. It did take a while for the meal to get to us, but the food made it all worth it.

Business lunch: High prices, limited food selection. Absolutely delicious, though. No pizza. Upscale. Located right in the middle of Bremen's market square, it also offers a great atmosphere.

Unfortunately, this wasn't disclosed at all, so it remains unclear whether the pasta was actually made that way. The portion was a bit too small for the price, and the taste was rather average. Not recommended. We wanted to celebrate a special family occasion with a special meal. As is well known, that's no easy feat in Bremen. We were happy to dig much deeper into our pockets than usual for this occasion, but were ultimately very disappointed by what we considered to be an unacceptably poor value for money. Most of the dishes ordered by our group of six were mediocre, the portion sizes were sometimes noticeably small, and the service was slow. I lived in Italy for ten years, and a scam based on the motto "expensive must be great" doesn't work for me.

Expensive, but for the price you sit directly opposite the town hall…

We ate here for my birthday, and unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment. The appetizer (melon with ham, €17) only arrived after 45 minutes and three follow-up questions – and seemed carelessly thrown onto the plate. Before that, we were served the wrong main course. The sea bass I had actually ordered didn't arrive until 90 minutes later, when we were about to pay – completely dry, without sauce or seasoning, with five potatoes and broccoli (€38). The wine wasn't refilled; we wouldn't have had a second glass for €12 anyway. Atmosphere: Unmotivated staff, visibly overwhelmed. The ambiance and lighting concept are more reminiscent of a train station than an award-winning restaurant. Conclusion: Totally disproportionate value for money. We honestly wonder how this restaurant gets its good reviews and Gault Millau mentions. Unfortunately, for us, it was the worst birthday meal we've ever had.

Reserved a table for 19:30 at Due Fratelli, noting it was my partner’s birthday. No acknowledgment. Seated at a cramped table near the bar in a dimly lit, noisy “cave” that felt more like a cheap club. Service was slow and disorganized. Starters were delayed, mains arrived wrong, and the food was bland and overpriced at €38.50 each. Staff ranged from an uncaring manager to disoriented waitstaff. Despite high reviews, this was the worst dining experience I’ve had in Germany. Not recommended.

Overall a nice location with good food, and very nice atmosphere. However, we had some issues with the food arriving late, and felt like the food was slightly overpriced for the quality. It was very good, just the sides and appetisers were small for what they charged. The food was also relatively delayed, and it was a bit difficult to get the waiters attention.

We wanted to reserve a table for 7 p.m.! The waiter said 5:30, 6:30, or 7:45 p.m. would be fine because it was very busy. We hurried to get there for dinner at 6:30 p.m., but to our surprise, it was very empty, so we could have left at 7 p.m.! The food is nothing special and the prices are way overpriced. Bottom line: better to go somewhere else.

The food was okay. The pasta from the Parmesan wheel was delicious, as was the beef carpaccio. However, the accompanying baguette was very dry, and we only liked the tiramisu moderately. The value for money wasn't right for us.

You pay over 40 euros for a tiny piece of fish and a glass of wine and the fish was tasteless I had to put a lot of lemon to have a taste my friends got food poisoning immediately they started throwing up.

Unfortunately this place a big tourist trap. Our fish had no seasoning. The melanzane’s cheese was terrible. The pasta were simply just salty and not tasty at all. It is unfortunately 💩💩💩💩💩Food quality was cataclysmic .

The food tasted very good. Unfortunately, the service and ambiance outside didn't match the price. A 0.5 liter of warm Lugana for €32.50 would be laughed at on Lake Garda. Iberico with potatoes was €31.40. For that price, everything has to be just right, and that's not the case here.

Four of us happened to wander into this restaurant one evening. After a warm welcome, we took our seats. Shortly after, the waiter arrived with the menu. There are only a few dishes on the menu, but they're quite something. What we ate was truly delicious: pasta "al dente," and the highlight was the Parmesan cheese loaf, which was prepared at the table. Homemade ravioli – creamy and fruity – Mamma Mia! A tip for the starter: Parma ham with bread – it's not on the menu, but it's divine! For dessert, we shared a world-class tiramisu, and all our worries were melted away – and the service was top-notch. Of course, the prices are high, but we finally have an Italian restaurant for special occasions – thank you very much!

We had a wonderful meal on the outdoor terrace on the square Am Markt. The salmon was cooked excellently and of very good quality. The potatoes with rosemary were also delicious. The whole thing was presented on our plate in a visually appealing way. The beer on tap and the coffee complemented our dinner. The dog was also well looked after. It was worth the money twice over.

The food was delicious, but the prices are outrageous. There were three of us there, and we each had spaghetti wrapped in cheese, a single appetizer, three small beers, and two small tiramisu for dessert. We were almost shocked when we saw the bill: €190!!! Just wanting a shrimp on the spaghetti costs €3.90. The carpaccio appetizer cost €22, and it only included two thin hams with two pieces of bread. The staff was nice, and the food was good, but it wasn't worth almost €200.

One of the best views of the city center, unfortunately I cannot say the same about the food and the service. The dishes were not saved at the same time and the food was cold when we started eating. Spent a week in Bremen, and this was comfortably the most disappointing meal out of the week. Checked it was going to be ok to sit outside with a waiter, then no-one came for 10 minutes so I went and got our own menus. Finally got our order taken after about 25 mins. After a further 30 mins, food was still not with us (it was 2 plates of simple pasta), and as it was getting cold, we had to go indoors. Food when it came was underwhelming, and I could easily have cooked something better myself at home. Ridiculous prices for what was served and for the level of service. This is a hard-avoid next time in town.

We went there for dinner on Saturday evening. The food itself was good and quite tasty. However, in our opinion, the quality doesn't justify the very high prices, which are more reminiscent of Munich than Bremen. The service unfortunately left a lot to be desired. Some of the waiters spoke very poor German, so we had to ask several times, for example, for a new napkin or a few ice cubes. Even simple requests like two slices of bread had to be clarified with the manager. No bread was served with the main course, which is quite unusual for an Italian restaurant. Another negative point: the condition of the terrace was disappointing. The tabletops had narrow gaps where old food scraps were found—unhygienic and uninviting. Overall, the impression remains that the price and quality of the restaurant do not match the service and the overall experience. For the price level charged, we expect more professionalism, attentiveness, and also cleanliness.

So, you can't say we ate badly, but it didn't live up to expectations and the high ratings. The polenta was baby corn porridge, and the truffles were lost in the process. The veal liver came with a sweet balsamic sauce instead of sage butter. After asking, the waiter explained that they had run out of sage. The ravioli was OK, but you can find better ones at many less-praised places. The service was good. The waiters were very friendly and apologized after we complained.

The food and service are excellent. Be aware that the prices aren't exactly cheap. However, the dishes are prepared with great care, attention to detail, and true to the original. Every guest feels welcome, which isn't the case at every restaurant in this price range.

I can only strongly advise against this restaurant. After I politely called to reschedule a table, the owner shouted at me and insulted me. This kind of service from a supposedly reputable owner is extremely unprofessional. Addendum: It should also be noted: This review has already been reported three times for "defamation," but was subsequently reinstated after being reviewed by Google. This suggests that the restaurant is actively trying to have negative reviews removed instead of addressing legitimate criticism. Transparent reviews should reflect honest experiences – even if they are uncomfortable. Further addendum: I've also noticed that more and more negative reviews are disappearing around mine. This doesn't seem particularly transparent to me and raises further questions about its credibility.

Well, it's okay... I don't really want to comment on the prices at this point - they're high, but that's also due to the special location. Outdoor dining is always a bit more expensive. Service: awful, everything takes forever (30 minutes to even take an order - even though half the tables are free). After ordering (antipasti, pasta dish, pizza), I waited an hour for the antipasti, then another 15 minutes for the main course. Paying, another 30-minute wait. Food: - Antipasti is a disgrace and completely unacceptable - I've never had such a bad experience. - Pizza (28.50!) only lukewarm, the crust rock-hard around the edges; tough as leather inside. Toppings very meager - mostly tomato sauce. - Pasta dish (spaghetti with mussels): only lukewarm, the number of mussels is ridiculous, but the taste would have been okay - if it had been halfway warm. Total price including 1 bottle of mineral water: €95 My recommendation: go somewhere else

A nice restaurant, but based on the advertising, you'd expect more. The restaurant was named one of the 50 best Italian restaurants in Germany! The prices are above average, and the service was rather poor.

In many such distinguished restaurants, people get stressed and suddenly forget how to use a knife and fork. But not here! Due Fratelli combines excellent cuisine and high-quality service without being stuffy, which is the biggest advantage of this place. I highly recommend spending your entire evening here, you will definitely not be disappointed!

A special restaurant in a historic building.

Dear Elvis, dear Denis, we were only in Bremen for two evenings and, thank God, we were with you twice. It would almost certainly have been the same even if we had been there for five days. The best Bolognese ever!!! If a restaurant like this offers Bolognese, you simply have to order it. Thanks for the recipe. And thanks for your hospitality! This was really nothing! We went there two weeks ago for the lunch menu advertised online. It was our first visit to Bremen and, based on the reviews, thought we'd play it safe! When we arrived, we were only offered the lunch menu upon request. We had carpaccio, followed by pasta with truffles. The carpaccio, while visually appealing, was simply lacking in flair, almost unseasoned, and lacking in refinement. The pasta was bland, and the truffles didn't even smell of it. A complete disaster in terms of food. The service was not at all accommodating to our comments about this, which is a shame. Far too expensive for that! We also witnessed a very loud and unpleasant argument between guests who had to wait over 45 minutes for their pizza, who still hadn't received it, and who were complaining about the wine, and the very uncooperative manager. This could all be better! There's nothing to recommend here, unfortunately! I can't understand the great reviews here. Maybe we just had a bad day🤷

D'accordo...lo sapevamo che noi italiani non dobbiamo ordinare la pizza all'estero, ma ci siamo ricascati, attratti dalla foto di una bella pizza esposta davanti al locale. E così, abbiamo ordinato una margherita e una pizza allo speck. Ebbene, la margherita era piena di pepe e in più aveva del formaggio grattuggiato sopra, forse per supplire alla scarsità della mozzarella. Ma, e qui viene il bello...sulla pizza allo (pseudo)speck c'erano dei pezzetti di qualcosa che ci sembrava bacon abbrustolito, non c'era mozzarella e, udite udite....l'impasto era dolce, forse lo chef quella sera aveva bevuto e aveva messo lo zucchero al posto del sale. Inoltre abbiamo preso una birra e una bottiglia d'acqua da 75 ml che abbiamo pagato 9.90 Euro. Alla fine, questa indimenticabile cenetta ci è costata la bellezza di 51 Euro! Capisco che siamo al centro di Brema e la posizione si paga, ma sarebbe meglio essere onesti e servire cibo tedesco senza pubblicizzare piatti italiani di cui non si ha la più pallida idea.

The ambiance was also impressive – cozy, stylish, and inviting. I felt very comfortable from start to finish and would definitely return. A clear recommendation! If you appreciate fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere, this is the place for you.

Since the menu advertised truffle week, I ordered the mushroom and white truffle ravioli, but I didn't find them good at all. There wasn't even the slightest hint of truffle and the sauce was liquid and had an acidic taste due to the tomatoes, plus the plate was full of leeks that in my opinion had nothing to do with it. I would have expected a much simpler dish in which the truffle was the dominant flavor. You pay for the central position, but for this dish I feel like I paid too much.

Rip-off!! Bottle of water for €9.90, food OK but nowhere near worth the price...

An Italian restaurant of the extra class, high standard, exceptional food and extremely delicious 😋

Thirteen of us (including three children) had dinner at Due Fratelli. We had made a reservation in advance and were given a large round table in a private room, which was great in itself. However, after finishing our drinks and food, we were left to our own devices. The wine was never refilled, no one came by to take further drink orders, and the appetizer plate wasn't cleared until over 30 minutes later—and after we explicitly requested it. We had to wait over an hour for the main course (from the appetizer onward). It only arrived (despite prior requests) after we threatened to leave the restaurant otherwise. Since only two of us had appetizers, as most were hoping for dessert, and since we had children with us, this was simply impossible. Normally, everyone would have shortened the wait between courses, since most people didn't have appetizers. They could also have provided some bread after the initial requests—but this only came after we asked for it. We skipped dessert, of course. As for the food: it was good, but a few side dishes were missing or the wrong ones were served. The bill also had to be corrected twice, but that wasn't surprising. Given the standards (and prices) of this restaurant, that was simply a no-go. As we left, the waiter told us that we shouldn't order an appetizer next time. So, that was our mistake, of course! The worst of it, however, was that they started ranting about us while we were on our way out! Conclusion: The food is good, but the service and ambiance were a disaster because of the waiters! Addendum: My review has already been challenged three times, twice for alleged defamation. Each time, the review was reinstated. Apparently, Due Fratelli is taking a tough stance against negative reviews – so I would be skeptical of the overall very good rating. Who knows how many people were intimidated by this or simply let it go...

Easy reservation through "The Fork." A vaulted cellar restaurant in a central location. Three rooms, each with its own unique flair. A friendly welcome and later, friendly service. The appetizer was a visual and flavorful delight. The main courses, risotto with shrimp and veal liver with mashed potatoes, were both excellent. The tiramisu for dessert was okay—unfortunately, there was far too little mascarpone and it was a bit dry. The overall price was a bit higher. All in all, a clear recommendation.

No! The staff were very arrogant and rude. The food (in our case, pizza) was terrible and the prices were outrageous.

The main course was very tasty, but the portion was quite manageable. The soufflé for dessert was completely cold and had no liquid center. When we mentioned it, they simply said the kitchen had made a mistake...but we still had to pay the full amount, which at €16.00 is a real disgrace. We won't be eating here again.

Hier stimmte einfach alles. Das Essen, der Service, das Ambiente… alles war perfekt! Besonders gut war die Vorspeisenplatte. Der empfohlene Wein harmonierte sehr gut mit dem Essen. Ich komme definitiv wieder.

Das Restaurant bietet auch vegetarische und glutenfreie Pasta an.Die Toiletten waren sauber und gepflegt. Einfach 10/10.

Essen ist ,wie einige schon vorher erwähnt haben gut. Aber der Service ist leider sehr unbefriedigend. Der Laden war leer und trotzdem haben wir unser Essen nicht zeitgleich bekommen. Getränke wurden verschüttet . Dafür ist der Laden zu hochpreisig. Schade. Wir kommen nicht wieder.

Excellent food and friendly service! The pasta made from a Parmesan loaf is especially recommended.

The food was fantastic and the service very attentive. I would come back again and highly recommend it as a great way to round off a day in Bremen!
