The menu leaves nothing to be desired from Asian cuisine. Service super nice. The kitchen manages to send out all dishes from a table in a timely manner, no matter how many people. The sushi and co. are super delicious. I would mention the sushi presentation as a highlight of the shop; that alone is worth coming here. I won't reveal anything more 😉. 👍👍👍

Five of us were there in September 2024. Everything was fine. The claim that the restaurant has not been open since June 17, 2024 due to health authorities is not true. Fake news.

As someone who attaches great importance to healthy, fresh food and cooks a lot myself, I have to say that Dong Sushi is the best thing about Gelsenkirchen for me. All ingredients are fresh and prepared with love without spoiling the dish with too much oil and fat. ESPECIALLY the Pho Ha Noi soup is simply divine. I have never had such a good and balanced Asian soup and my fiancé feels the same way, so we have eaten it what feels like 50 times. Top.

The number of items delivered was incorrect, it was less than necessary. Ginger and wasabi were not included. I ordered sushi with cream cheese, but that wasn't there either. And the tuna looks terrible, I think it definitely shouldn't be so gray. I have eaten sushi in this restaurant many times and now I am unpleasantly surprised.

Completely satisfied! Very good quality, great taste too! Unfortunately the fried noodles tasted a bit burnt, otherwise everything else was just A. The service was also great, although one waiter seemed a bit rushed. He was responsible for all the tables and ran from A to B. If the restaurant is at full capacity, I think there could possibly be service problems. The restaurant can only be recommended.

Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment for my wife and I. The ambience is very nice but the service is terrible. We waited half an hour for our drinks, one of which was wrong. The food came after over an hour, all the tables that were occupied after us had their food far before us. My food wasn't sweet and sour, it was just spicy and not edible. Unfortunately no one from service came, otherwise I would have liked to complain about it. At some point we went to the front to pay and had my food deducted from the bill. They apologized several times and also agreed that the mistake was the restaurant's.

Really great food. Quality absolutely top. Sushi is prepared with a lot of love and is absolutely great in terms of taste and price. Unfortunately it took a while to order, even though we were the only guests, but that can be forgiven given the sushi platters.

Were here by chance. The food is outstandingly good! Damn! Summer rolls were good (can be very boring in many places, here: good proportion of ingredients and good sauce). Best Bun Bo Nam Bo I've ever eaten. Paksi Pan is also fantastic. All in all, highly recommended!

I'll be honest... This is pretty much the best darn Thai curry I've ever had in my entire life. It was creamy, the chicken and duck I had were both cooked to perfection. The vegetable sides on the dish really complimented the curry sauce. I will absolutely be coming back once I'm in the area again.

Super quality has never been disappointed.

On Friday I had lunch with my girlfriend in the afternoon. I ordered the veggie bowl and vegetarian sushi as an appetizer. The food came very quickly, the waitress was also very nice and accommodating. The food was very nicely prepared and tasted very good. My girlfriend had sushi with salmon. We both ordered the homemade lemon lemonade. It was very refreshing and went well with the food. My girlfriend really liked it there too. This will be our new favorite place.

It was delicious, the starters, summer rolls, mango salad and spring rolls were absolutely recommended. If you don't like coriander, you should say so in advance ☺️☺️☺️ The duck for the main course was very crispy, the udon noodles and rice ribbon noodles were also very tasty. Outstanding quality sushi, very friendly and clean family-run restaurant. We went for lunch and highly recommend the hausgemachte fruhlingsrolle, and salmon mini tempura inside out roll. Salmon was fresh, sushi rice was well cooked, and beautiful presentation. Will definitely come back again

The restaurant is comfortably furnished and the staff is very friendly! We ate the menu for two people and were thrilled. The sushi is freshly prepared after you order and is presented really well. You could almost say that it is being decorated. Unfortunately we are only in Gelsenkirchen for a short trip otherwise we would come back quickly. Please keep it up!

Very good. I would recommend it to everyone. Classic Vietnamese with broad Asian cuisine. Thai curry specialties but also sushi and classic Vietnamese dishes. The staff is also very nice and attentive.

We had to wait about 1.5 hours for the food to arrive and it wasn't even full (there were 3 of us) and it took 30 minutes just for them to take our order. In addition, the employees are a little confused and when we asked for a plate, the employee simply wiped the plate on his shirt in front of us and it was really not appetizing. It didn't really taste good either but maybe it's because of what we ordered..

My girlfriend and I had dinner there together. We previously had our regular sushi shop in Berlin, which unfortunately had to close. They had the best sushi there, and after that we never found sushi that was equal to it again. Until we discovered this restaurant in Gelsenkirchen, the sushi was incredibly delicious, definitely reason enough to visit Gelsenkirchen again

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, very tasty food. They were prepared with a lot of effort. Those at the table next to us also looked great. We had duck with peanut coconut sauce, fresh vegetables and rice and a bowl. We'll be back because the prices and everything else are right.

The maki are cut short. You get 8 instead of the usual 6. These are not properly processed. For example, different lengths and the nori comes off. Some of the fish is cut too thickly and there is not much rice in it.

I've eaten at Dong several times now and have always been very satisfied. The sushi is freshly prepared and always beautifully presented. If you order a large amount of sushi as a couple or in a group, you definitely won't be disappointed here. Since everything is freshly prepared and beautifully presented, it can sometimes take a little longer, but it's worth the wait! The portions of the regular dishes are very decent for the price and always taste very good. The dishes can usually be varied flexibly, meaning that every guest can find something to suit their taste. The quiet atmosphere in the restaurant is also very suitable for a quiet evening. If you're looking for good sushi and high-quality Asian food in Gelsenkirchen, far away from the all-you-can-eat buffets, Dong is the right place for you.

They even went above and beyond with creating an entertaining experience while eating sushi platters - I can definitely recommend ordering one just for that highlight ;) The food is delicious and fresh and the staff accommodating and proactive.
