Don Camillo & Peppone in Paderborn

I celebrated my 18th birthday here today. The food was delicious and the value for money unbeatable. You won't find such service in any other restaurant in Paderborn – the staff were incredibly nice and friendly.

The food we received was tasty, however, one lasagna was missing. It was delivered later, but was still cold inside and therefore inedible. They probably wanted to serve it quickly, but that didn't work out.

Thank you, Gabriel, it was delicious again! We'll be back soon!

Great atmosphere and super friendly service!

Snapshot Sunday, October 26, 2025, lunchtime: Very good selection, very good prices, very good lasagna, good calzone (unfortunately with canned mushrooms), good service. One star deducted because of the canned mushrooms, and the pizza plate was chipped in several places. We'll try again.

As always, it's worth a visit. Delicious food. I'd happily return.

I can highly recommend this restaurant in Paderborn to everyone! It's now my absolute favorite restaurant here. The food is simply unbelievably delicious – and at a fair price. I'd especially like to highlight the super-friendly and professional staff – you feel truly welcome and at ease here. The terrace with its beautiful lights also creates a truly cozy atmosphere. My personal favorite is the grilled scampi – you definitely have to try it! They taste fantastic, especially with broccoli and fried potatoes or with pasta. And the garlic bread is simply heavenly! If I could, I would give it more than five stars – it's truly delicious and absolutely recommended!

A family business for over two decades or more. You sit down with a family at the dining table. Gabriel, Mario, Elisabeth, and the rest are the house spirit. I enjoy eating there often.

Well, a better snack bar, nothing more and nothing less. Across the street is the Chinese restaurant with the usual food temple. Well, you can eat pasta and pizza, but a culinary delight is something else entirely. As I said, the usual snack bar serves pizza and pasta. But you can get good pizza elsewhere, too.

It should have really made us suspicious: A glance at the online menu reveals a huge selection of dishes – which rarely speaks for quality in a restaurant. About 20 years ago, I lived right around the corner and ate there occasionally. In my memory, the restaurant was "pretty good" back then. What awaited us on Saturday evening around 6 p.m., however, was rather sobering. Positive: The service was friendly and attentive. Less pleasing: The pizza rolls arrived cold and dry. The main courses – saltimbocca and veal scallopine in white wine sauce – were tough and had a slightly strong aftertaste. The ambiance in the back of the restaurant didn't bother us personally, but you should be aware that it can get quite loud and hectic there – a matter of taste. Perhaps the quality is better off-peak – certainly, it left a lot to be desired during our visit. It's a shame, really.

The food is drowning in oil. Bruschetta for €11 consists of three slices of bread with tons of tomato floating in olive oil. I find that a bit overpriced. Vitello tonnato consisted of overcooked and unfortunately tasteless beef, and the sauce was actually mayo with a hint of tuna. A stomach ache was inevitable. The pizzas are okay, but also far too greasy. The fries, on the other hand, are very good, crispy, and well-seasoned. The shrimp were unfortunately a bit underseasoned and tasted of cooking fat. But they were tenderly grilled. The service wasn't unfriendly, but seemed a bit annoyed. Too bad, I actually liked the Don…

Here you get good food for little money

First, the good news: The service was fast. The rest was rather mediocre. The small appetizer plate consisted of a mixed vegetable pan in a tomato sauce with a lot of oil, which only tasted of garlic. The aioli that came as a special treat had a very interesting consistency. It was as if water and gelling agent had been used instead of oil to emulsify it. Furthermore, the pizza had a very thick layer of cheese, so the oil was just dripping. The artichoke on the pizza was also very woody, more like the outer leaves, which are usually cut away because they're inedible. Overall, disappointing, unfortunately.

Food was great, where else can you get an 18 pizza for 10 euros with crab and garlic, any time again

We had lunch here today and were completely satisfied. The food was good, the service friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I can only recommend this restaurant.

Overall the food was okay. However the pizza bread was not good and very salty. A rating of 3 stars is fair in my opinion.

The waiter would have benefited from a smile and the starter and tagliatelle had far too much garlic. Unfortunately not recommended.

There is still room for improvement in all areas... The pizza we ordered was bone dry (and I actually thought there wasn't much that could go wrong), even the child left the Convinience Schnitzel and it didn't matter whether it was eggplant or pasta - everything was drowned in a not-too-tasty cheese sauce. The service would have benefited from a smile and the chairs would have benefited from upholstery without stains or holes. All in all, we were rather disappointed with this visit.

Very cozy, great staff, really delicious food. Full marks! THAT WAS A YEAR AGO! Last week: No service! We (6 guests) were not asked once in 2 1/2 hours whether we were satisfied or would like something more to drink. (We had ordered a drink at the very beginning). I ordered schnitzel with cream sauce and coquettes and got dark sauce and oversalted fries. Only one person at the table got a side salad and that only upon request. At 9:25 p.m. we were asked to pay. We then went to another restaurant and spent our money there! I'm really disappointed because I felt so comfortable last time.

We wanted to eat at Don Camillo's. We came into the store, everything was still free except for 3-4 tables. We were told that nothing was available. We were very surprised because everything was still free. A “sorry, unfortunately all tables are already reserved” would have been more appropriate. The woman behind the counter didn't even ask if we wanted to eat at their place or take away. I find it really outrageous to simply say that everything is occupied. They didn't even really approach us. Really a shame!

Disappointing, unfortunately. I ordered Scaloppine in mushroom sauce and green pepper. The menu said that the meat dishes were served with 2 side dishes. However, the dish only came with Pomeranians, which were also oversalted. No trace of a salad or vegetable side dish. The meat was also a bit dry. In any case, the medallions didn't taste like fillet, but like they were cut from salmon. Drinks were a bit too warm, the tables were sticky and the cleanliness of the toilets also left something to be desired. The friendliness of the staff can also be improved, especially that of the older gentlemen. It's a shame actually.

I have never met a better innkeeper. Very familiar, always friendly and almost anything is possible. The menu is extensive, but the easiest way is to say what you're hungry for and get the best advice. Always fresh products, very tasty prepared. The prices are more than fair and, if you like, you can also get plenty of ouzo on the house. You can also organize celebrations there very well. Highly recommended!

How do you write Italian Cuisine When You Don't Know the Difference Between Penne and Rigatoni!!!! They are not, for the People, who despite not being ITALIAN, open places with an Italian menu... until they really know how to cook... but in this place I ate the worst pasta, (ordered Rigatoni and received Meta Rigatoni Meta penne) with raw crabs, I don't even know how to describe the sauce, all this on a plate with all the edges broken!!!!!The waitress, despite knowing that it wasn't good, didn't add anything, she wasn't even interested!! !! THIS IS A SHAME!!!! TOWARDS ITALIAN CUISINE ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!!!! IF I COULD NOT HAVE EVEN ONE STAR I WOULD HAVE GIVEN!!!!!

Were treated unkindly. Mayo was already rancid in the bottle (lidl). Sat outside in a very drafty corner. Meat not seasoned and incomplete. You won't see us again. thanks for nothing

Unfriendly staff didn't have everything on the plate that was supposed to be there, had to ask, mayo was rancid, how can you put something like that on the table and never see it again

There were 6 people there yesterday. We were seated outside on a covered patio that was closed. It was cool and the fan was on. We want mayonnaise for fries and got a mayonnaise from Lidl which was bad. We waited until we told a waitress that mayonnaise was bad. We were then given a new mayonnaise for a few minutes. But then we don't need any more

Unfortunately, the staff was extremely overwhelmed, it was incredibly loud and the door next to us was opened with a direct view of the garbage cans, which caused a lot of noise. Of the five wines on the menu, only one was available, but this also reflects the general menu. We must have heard “we don’t have it there” five times… the side salad was a disaster! The one Coke that my brother ordered was only brought after the third request, and another side salad, which was forgotten, was only brought 30 minutes later. Just like my aunt's food, which was first brought incorrectly and then only after the rest of the family had almost eaten it. If you asked about it you were immediately told off! The salt and pepper or the sauce for the asparagus only came after the 4th!!! I asked with a very annoyed look from the waitress. Unfortunately none of us really liked the food in general, it was at best ok. We've been there twice now and it was a disaster both times.

Good and, above all, affordable food and drink. Here you can get steaks, pizza, pasta. The cheapest pizzas for €8 upwards to steak for €23 with side dishes. Drink like you would at other comparable places. Nice service staff. The ambience is ok, you can tell here and there that the place is getting old. But it has been partly modernized. On days when there is a lot going on, it can take longer for the food to arrive. You can park in front of the door or opposite at the Chinese (Yellow River) There are also high chairs for children, but unfortunately no play area.

If you value ambience, you have to eat somewhere else. But we were served in a friendly manner. Drinks were also served quickly. The price is also full, okay. Unfortunately the food was served with a delay. I thought my dish (canneloni) tasted good. All in all it was a nice evening.

We are regulars. Word has gotten around in Paderborn about warm hosts and an excellent price/performance ratio. Fish, meat, pizza, pasta... everything was delicious! Highly Recommended !

We ate the pizza here and it was excellent! The staff is very nice and personable. I think the owner (I didn't ask who he is 🙈) just came up to us to welcome us into our home. From this you know that they are not typical Germans and therefore probably actually know how to cook Italian food.

We ate here for the first and last time today. We had made a reservation, but no one welcomed us in the restaurant, so instead we had to find our way to our table on our own. While we were taking off our jackets we were asked what we wanted to drink. When we sat down and ordered drinks, we weren't asked whether it should be a large or small drink. I had ordered a steak, and here too it would have been nice to ask how you would like it fried. When I asked for a sauce to go with my side dish (potatoes), it was simply put over the steak instead of the potatoes. I then let the plate go back to change that. The service person was noticeably annoyed, told me that it would take longer, but agreed in the end. I assume that the steak was just washed off because I got the plate back after 2 minutes and the steak had the same firmness as before. This time the sauce was on a separate plate, the edge was smeared with sauce all over, the potatoes were now cold and my steak was tough and unseasoned. After the food was served, no one came to ask if there were any further requests or if everyone was satisfied with their food. (I went to the waitress because of the steak.) Since we only got a small drink at the beginning, after a short time we had nothing to drink during the meal. Here, too, we approached the staff ourselves and asked for more drinks. All in all, the service wasn't there, and unfortunately the food wasn't good for other family members either. A bottle of ketchup from Lidl was placed on the table with the fries; small bowls could have been used here. Maybe it was an isolated case, maybe it was because there were two other larger companies running alongside us and day-to-day business. However, there are many reasons for us not to come back. But I would like to give one plus point for the prices. If you don't expect very high cuisine, you can eat here relatively cheaply.

Just ordered a Jägerschnitzel to take away with fries. The fries had no seasoning and just tasted like cardboard. The "hunter's sauce" had nothing to do with a hunter's sauce just because there were a few mushrooms in it, and it was extremely sour...I strongly assume that it was bad because I was sitting on the toilet 30 minutes later. I've eaten there twice so far and both times were great.

Goede pizza's, Ongeïnteresseerd personeel, bijna onbeschoft! Wordt bij binnenkomst van 10 meter naar je geschreeuwd of je me 2 personen bent Wordt daarna niet veel beter. Jammer want het eten was goed.

Prelijep restoran s ogromnom zimskom terasom. Temperatura ugodna za sjedit lagodno, hrana jako kvalitetna, osoblje takodje lijepo i ljubazno. Mala preporuka da se malo posveti paznja dekorisanju tanjura koji izlaze iz kuhinje ljepse je kad je malo ukraseno a i gost ce lakse baksis da ostavi. Sretno

Leider war die Bedienung schläfrig, hat die Suppe vergessen und zum Lamm statt Gorgonzolasauce Tomatensauce geliefert, geschmeckt hat es allerdings gut, wenn auch anders als gewünscht!

Haben zum Abholen bestellt. Nach 20min konnten wir das Essen abholen. Die Pizza leider mit Dosen Champignons belegt, die Pasta mit Pesto hatte leider nicht viel Geschmack und hat an einer Buttermischung mit Petersilie erinnert. Die Pizzabrötchen waren komplett kalt und lagen vermutlich schon länger rum

Als ich zu Besuch war wurde mir Don Camillo und Peppone empfohlen und die Auswahl war groß und die Portionen War sehr groß und lecker. Der Service war sehr freundlich und der Chef war sehr freundlich. kann ich nur weiter empfehlen Werde euch wieder besuchen wenn ich dort in Der Nähe bin und vielen danke für denn tollen Service und für 😋 Essen
