It's very nice there. One side is rustic, and the other half is a bit more modern. What I like is that you can eat good old-fashioned cuisine as well as Greek food. Both are on the menu. The staff is super friendly; I'll definitely come back. Thumbs up!

We've been there many times. It's always fantastic, right in the middle of the forest. A lovely walk through the floodplain forest before or after the walk. Highly recommended.

We decided to stop by the Domholzschänke on a whim because we were passing through nearby and were hungry. The service was simply fantastic, and the food was absolutely delicious at a reasonable price. We felt at home.

In the previous years it was great there but this time, it was not very nice. There was no salt or pepper on the table, the salad was not seasoned but super oily. They forgot something about my order, it was super loud and uncomfortable. You have to pay extra for every little thing. The staff is nice but also there are better options out there. We payed over 100€ for a normal meal (4 people). The card also only has limited options.

The Domholzschänke restaurant is beautifully situated in a natural setting. The outdoor area is large and covered. However, the roof makes it very noisy, making it difficult to understand each other. Unfortunately, everything seems poorly maintained. A lot of weeds everywhere, messy tablecloths, and dirty table decorations don't exactly look very inviting. This urgently needs some attention. The service was OK. Not friendly, but not unfriendly either. Orders or queries were forgotten several times. The food was also OK at best. However, for the price, we were still hungry afterward, and it wasn't anything special. Unfortunately, the value for money wasn't right for us. Overall, it was a visit we wouldn't repeat.

No, a bar owner can't simply ban a customer from the premises because they don't like the place. The bar owner's right to refuse entry requires a factual reason, which must relate to the customer's behavior, to justify a valid ban. An arbitrary or discriminatory refusal is not permissible.

Great forest pub with all sorts of outdoor seating. Worth a visit, and the service is great. We only had coffee and cake. The owner is really nice. Just come by. You can also see pheasants here.

It's a shame that the unfriendly waiter clearly stated that they wouldn't allow any changes to the food in the restaurant. It's well known that the online menus are incorrect, and some dishes on the menu weren't available on-site either. I can't understand why they're so stubborn. The food is good, but there aren't ants under the table. Unfortunately, card payments don't always work due to online issues. Addendum: The problem was precisely with the children, so it wasn't a misunderstanding; they didn't want to change anything for the children.

A good restaurant in the middle of the forest, offering good, traditional Greek or Italian cuisine. Prices are still reasonable. Fast and attentive service. A clear recommendation for the quality of the food.

A very beautiful restaurant in an idyllic location on the western outskirts of Leipzig. Reservations are recommended, as this green gem is very popular, especially on weekends and generally during nice weather. From making reservations over the phone to welcoming and seating guests, and serving them at the table, the staff are extremely friendly and concerned about their guests' well-being. On summer days, the shady outdoor seating is very popular, but all guests are quickly served with fine drinks and lovingly prepared dishes to satisfy both large and small appetites. The concise menu offers dishes from traditional German cuisine as well as Mediterranean specialties. Since choosing can sometimes be challenging, the staff is happy to assist with ordering and accommodates special requests. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are naturally available, and even little ones will find something to suit their appetites on the children's menu. A feast for the eyes, all ingredients are fresh, and the value for money is excellent—what more could you want? We'd be happy to return, recommend this place of hospitality, and wish the restaurant owner and his staff continued satisfaction with guests like us.

A lovely restaurant with an adjoining outdoor snack area, located in the middle of the forest.

We were at the snack bar next to the restaurant. The food was okay. Our children played with the provided toys, such as wheelbarrows, etc. Quietly, while others were drawing. After about 30 minutes, an elderly lady from the snack bar came over and complained terribly and exaggeratedly about the children being so loud and where their parents were. Note: the snack bar has seen better days, and none of the maybe 10 mostly elderly people present complained. The woman's behavior was unacceptable and unfriendly to families and children. We will never visit the snack bar again and will not recommend it to anyone!!!

We ate here and were very disappointed. The grilled vegetables topped with cheese were very overcooked and had too much oil. In summary, the food was unappetizing. A female waitress offered us an iced coffee as compensation, which was very nice. However, it's still worth recommending as a place to stop for a drink.

Despite pre-ordering by phone, we had to wait about 40 minutes for our drinks. There wasn't even an apology for accidentally showering us with beer, and the food was only mediocre. The dumplings were still doughy after about 45 minutes of waiting, and the pork knuckle wasn't crispy at all. I'm very disappointed!

I'm extremely disappointed this year. We came here last year and received a great welcome. We arrived in terrible weather and had a delicious meal. Today we're registered and have been waiting for two hours for our food. We spent the time waiting for drinks. The waitress wasn't having a good day today.

After returning from Turkey, we wanted to have a nice lunch before starting our journey home and found the Dorfholzschänke. A restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. We sat on the terrace. Unfortunately, the staff were completely overwhelmed. No one had any idea what to do. We waited for our drinks and then got our food. The food tasted delicious, but it was only lukewarm. It was homemade roulades, though, which were delicious. Unfortunately, one dish was completely forgotten. Perhaps the concept needs to be rethought, or the staff need better training. We own a restaurant ourselves and know how difficult that is. Otherwise, however, it is a really cozy place.

We were there today by chance, as we were looking for a restaurant for dinner. The portions were more than generous for the price, and we enjoyed the food immensely. The service was friendly and attentive. We would definitely go back.

It's that small moment before the storm of the week, when people, like us, meet to eat what they don't want to cook and drink what they don't have at home. Some come by bike – 13 kilometers from Leipzig along the new Luppe, through meadows where you briefly forget that Monday is a Monday. Others, like us, come by car, still wet from the lake, in flip-flops, with a hunger that isn't loud, but urgent. The kitchen? It doesn't speak, it delivers. A seasoned meat that doesn't want to explain what it is – it simply is. No drama, no play, but substance. The vine leaves – a silent migration on the plate, well rolled, without salt shock. The pizza, shared: not spectacular, but exactly what pizza should be when you're tired of menu prose. Crispy, balanced, hot. It won't make it on TV, but it will stay with you. Drinks? Homemade. Strawberry punch, cold and honest, without sugar panic. Lemonade – strawberry, mint, lemon, half an orange. No syrup, no show, just summer in a glass. If you look deeper, you'll see that no one here is trying to prove anything. They're just cooking. Sometimes schnitzel, sometimes fish, sometimes steak with spiced meat – if you eat it, you've tried it. What I haven't had, I can't judge. And what has become of the tavern? It used to be a dusty spot in the middle of the forest – functional, minimalist, a rest stop for cyclists with dry throats. There was plenty of shade – from the canopy of the trees, not from concepts. Greenery was there – just wild, unmanaged. But today? A transformation like a time-lapse of life. Two pavilions, planted, animated, thoughtful. No concrete, no surface architecture, but a breathing terrain. Everything grows, nestles, responds to the weather and people. The place has become an oasis, an inner anchorage. Those who come pause. Breathe a sigh of relief. Fills its chi. Not a sound too much, not a structure too little – it is as if the forest itself had decided to set a table here. The grounds? Overgrown. Not a museum, not a retro park. I used to be here, in the GDR days. Then after the fall of the Wall. Now again. Again and again. On foot, by bike, by car – it doesn’t matter. The place has changed, but not disguised. Pizza oven, grill area, outdoor seating – it’s all there, without being intrusive. The garden too – to the left something red blooms, to the right yellow flashes in the foliage. None of it screams. It just stands there, like someone who doesn’t have to please. The path there? Not made for high heels. Narrow, a little brittle, but real nonetheless. Those who come here walk. Or drive. Or find something. And those who serve do so not with a put-on expression, but with tact. No “How did you taste?” – just a new glass. Service without a script. And then there is the menu. No concept. A collection. Solyanka – not as a joke, but as a greeting from Ukraine. Gyros – honestly fried, fries included. Dumplings with goulash – not grandma's cooking, but today's hunger. Spiced meat – as I said, a fixture. And pizza – the unifying element. If you're looking for something that doesn't need explaining, eat here. If you need labels, move on. All those who come on the weekend by bike, the 13 km from Leipzig to the Domholzschänke along the Neue Luppe, or like us just before the start of the week, on Sunday evening for a small supper – before everyday life overwhelms us on Monday – come here once again for rest, for relaxation, for food and drink, to gather strength, to return by bike or to start the journey home by car. If you don't understand this, you'll never taste it. If you've tried it once, you'll never forget it. And that's perhaps the best thing about it.

These arrogant gentlemen don't take the opening hours very seriously. What a pity!

I had an ice cream sundae. Unfortunately, the ice cream tasted very old, slightly rancid, and was tough. It was still edible, but not good. So, the rather hefty prices are for the beautiful location, but not for the quality.

The seating is quite comfortable, the service is friendly, but I'm there for the food... Schnitzel for €18.50, frozen and bloated – unacceptable. The limp salad that came with it was drenched in oil. They also serve pizza from the wood-fired oven, with logs burning in the back of the oven and the pizza in the front (it's actually made differently). The pizza maker does everything... pizza, cleaning, washing up, well... doesn't seem very hygienic.

At these prices, €18.50 for a schnitzel, I expect fresh, homemade produce, not frozen schnitzel. That's bordering on cheeky. One schnitzel wasn't cooked properly. They charged €1.80 for a side change from fries to croquettes, even though the side dishes are all the same price according to the menu. When I go out to eat, I want freshly prepared food; otherwise, I might as well skip the trouble. Four of us paid €120 and each only had one main course. The red cabbage with the venison was mushy. Conclusion: Disappointing, we don't want to waste our money on that.

This was our third visit in two months and we're absolutely delighted. The food is delicious, and you can choose between German and Greek cuisine. Everyone who came with us really enjoyed it.

A beautiful, rustic inn nestled in the countryside. The food is mid-priced and of excellent quality. The service is fast and friendly.

Great food, a great atmosphere, and a large beer garden. You can even see animals right next to the beer garden, which was great for the kids. The service was also excellent, but unfortunately we had to wait quite a while (almost 30 minutes) until someone came and we could pay.

Our 70th birthday, which we celebrated yesterday at the Domholzschänke with 30 guests, was a great joy thanks to the delicious food and excellent service! We will definitely be back and can wholeheartedly recommend it! Many thanks to the entire team

We attended a birthday party with 24 people. There were several plates of grilled vegetables, tzatziki, and bread for starters. For the main course, the host had chosen four types of meat, two types of side dish, and two types of vegetables. For the children present, the host also offered to prepare nuggets, fries, and pasta with tomato sauce. For dessert, there were apple rings with vanilla sauce. The food was all hot, delicious, and plentiful. The chef personally came several times to ask if we needed seconds and whether we were satisfied with the quality. The drinks were also brought promptly. We particularly liked the strawberry lemonade. The service was very friendly and joking. It was a very pleasant evening.

The food is okay. More suited to cyclists passing through, as it's located deep in the forest.

Great for a bike ride. We like to stop there. The furniture in the beer garden has become a bit worn over the years and could use some repairs or replacements. Otherwise, we're always happy to come back. They also have something for a little snack; our child just misses the wieners. 😉

Some of the food on the menu is not labeled with allergens. For vegans there are only grilled vegetables, pasta/bread with vegetables or beans. However, the grilled vegetables are not grilled, but fried in plenty of oil. There was only one waitress for a lot of outside tables. Accordingly, she had a lot to do and couldn't keep up - understandably.

Getting old! The surroundings are idyllic, the outdoor snack bar is very old, but OK for a sausage. Unfortunately, card payment is not possible here, so at least for us the visit to the restaurant was over. There was still enough cash for the snack. The woman at the counter was very friendly, but unfortunately the man was very arrogant! However, we will not come back a second time.

Easter Sunday for brunch. Price-performance didn't convince me. Otherwise recommended.

We were here for the first time at Easter and the conclusion was very mixed. The food tasted pretty good, BUT the way there was more than long - if we hadn't taken care of taking the orders ourselves (several times!), we would still be sitting there today. You'll quickly be forgotten inside when it's buzzing outside. Unfortunately, half of our group went home hungry because the main courses were really small (but expensive) with the exception of the knuckle and brawn. Filling side dishes for the Greek dishes cost €4.50 extra, something I've never experienced before. Regarding the ambience: we found it uncomfortable inside and our room was partly dirty (pasta under the decorations and crumbs on the floor). Birdsong from the band is also very disturbing. Speaking of birds, the ducks and pheasants kept in the outdoor aviaries would be a nice addition if done right. The furnishings and the nets/grids were carelessly made and seemed unprofessional, and signs about the species would actually be obvious if you were building a "zoo" into the playground. But it was really a sad sight. Conclusion: Unfortunately we won't be coming back. Too expensive, too little, too unreliable, and the great location doesn't help much.

We had a very great experience in the Domholzschänke today. Despite written confirmation, our reservation for 7 people for the Easter buffet could not be found. Without further ado, a table was pulled together and prepared for us in the dining room, so that after this brief shock for everyone, nothing stood in the way of our Easter dinner. They apologized several times for the oversight. We were very impressed by the hospitality, the service and ultimately also the buffet. Very good food and there was something for everyone. We were there with 4 people last Sunday and had reserved a table. The staff was friendly, if a bit overworked, although not all tables were occupied. The dishes tasted good and the meat was tender, but unfortunately it wasn't (anymore) hot, and my red cabbage was only lukewarm. In order to be able to order a dessert or drink after our meal, we had to make our presence known. We had to ask for the bill three times. I hope that these problems will be resolved quickly before the excursion season really gets going. But the furnishings were very comfortable.

If you stop for a quick break between a walk, it's OK, but the service seemed unstructured and I would also expect home-baked cakes in a restaurant.

We stopped here for lunch on a weekday on a bike ride. You can sit nicely in the winter garden of the restaurant and listen to birdsong from the loudspeaker. It wasn't crowded and the staff had time to take care of the guests. The small dishes are sufficient for a snack.

We were here in the summer of 2024 and sat in the outdoor area. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and very good food. On this occasion the interiors were "inspected"; great. Will visit again on January 16, 2025 with friends.

Wir hatten einen Geburtstag in der Veranda gefeiert. Die Tafel war wunderschön eingedeckt. Sowohl die Vorspeisen als auch die Hauptgerichte wurden als Buffet serviert. Ich kann sagen, das Essen war perfekt: vielseitig, heiss und sehr schmackhaft. Auch der Service ließ keine Wünsche offen. Wir bedanken uns für den wunderschönen Tag und können die Domholzschänke auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen.

Nice atmosphere, great location, friendly service. Unfortunately there is no vegetarian option outside other than dry bread rolls. That wouldn't be difficult with a lentil soup 🙃 Maybe next year.

We were there again for Christmas. There was a menu which consisted of several courses. We ordered extra fries for 2 of the children because they asked if the children would eat the menu. Since the children didn't like anything on the menu, we asked that the fries be served to the children right at the beginning of the menu. This was not done even after repeated requests and our small children had to watch and wait until the 4th course and therefore almost 1.5 hours until they got fries and something to eat. As a third course there was a scoop of lemon sorbet with orange juice for the children, but even a hungry 4 year old wouldn't be happy with that... unfortunately the food itself wasn't particularly tasty and the dessert buffet wasn't labeled. If you expect a bowl of vanilla cream because it is served next to the bowl of chocolate cream and then only spoon whipped cream, then that's not so great. Unfortunately, we also found long hair in several dishes. We won't come back!

We had tickets for a 5-course menu for 7 people on Christmas Day at 1:30 p.m purchased in advance. Are very satisfied with it. Starting with the appetizer over that Main course to dessert - everything is great! Kudos also to our waiter, who... As a Greek, I knew how to deal with the guests. All in all, a successful holiday. There is Greek and German cuisine. A nice destination for a break and refreshment for cycling or hiking tours. In summer you can also use the outdoor seating to use.

Food was quite ok! There were 4 of us and we each had something different! Ambiance only 2 stars because the girls found the toilets really bad! It was probably pretty unclean!

Unfortunately our food wasn't hot and the sauce that was ordered with it never arrived at the table. The children's schnitzels were very firm and dry. They chewed and chewed... It's a shame that we had the impression that there weren't enough staff for the restaurant, which was very busy on Sunday! We won't be back anytime soon 😞

A very great holiday home, it is inviting just by its external appearance and surroundings. We stopped by spontaneously and the team is quick, friendly and gives great advice.... Keep it up, I last experienced this hospitality and caring manner in Berlin and that was half a year ago... The food is fresh and delicious , we are happy to recommend...The portions are just the right size, everything your heart desires. We especially think about the little guests; they can while away the time until dinner in the playground that is located on the premises. A small snack shop caters to your hunger with home-style cooking if you just want to eat something smaller. All in all, you still get ***** in addition to the other five.... We say thank you.... Today we returned for a long time and we immediately felt at home again, everything is the same as already written above, highly recommended, just great...

I was in the beer garden this afternoon and there were a lot of tables with dishes not cleared away and the service (2-3 cr fte) was unfortunately probably overwhelmed by the situation (crowds of guests) ......and that with the prices.... I think it's better to switch to another restaurant, which is actually a shame.
