DODO Asia Wok & Sushi Bar in Dresden

After 2.5 years, we were back here; we now live in the Südvorstadt district. Overall, not much has changed; it's still delicious, and the prices, I think, have remained stable, with no increase. We'd love to come back! 😃

We like eating here; in the summer, you can even sit outside, shielded from the street. We like it.

Always delicious and highly recommended. Don't be put off by the exterior appearance; the food is first-class and the owners are very friendly. The prices are reasonable, too. We really like it and recommend everyone to eat there sometime.

Not very pretty from the outside, but very cozy inside. It's also great outside in the summer. I've been there about a hundred times, and the food is always delicious and the service is always great. Everything is always perfect, and the portions are really large for a great price. The drinks are also great value for money, for example, a large Coke for 2 euros. Highly recommended.

I work in the neighborhood and eat at this restaurant several times a week because it's often my only option for fast food, but the waiter/owner is horrible. He yelled at me (and other customers) several times because I don't speak German well, and after ordering meals for a year, he refused to let me pay him later in the day because I forgot my money. I work in hospitality myself and would never do that to a regular customer. (The rest of the staff is pleasant, however, but most of the time he's the one serving.) I recommend a delicious and inexpensive Indian restaurant, especially at lunchtime -> Punjab, Poststrasse 13.

The food here is excellent. Quality is always a top priority. Customer requests are taken into account as far as possible. There's also a very nice outdoor seating area.

We spontaneously ate there for the first time last week while we were in the area. The food came so quickly and was so delicious. We were very satisfied. Unfortunately, we don't live nearby, but we will definitely eat there again if we ever pass by.

A very horrible experience. Pure discrimination instead of enjoyment. After a long day, I was looking forward to a small Asian specialty and thought I'd go to the Asian restaurant near me. I quickly regretted this decision. Out of politeness, upon entering the store, I asked at the counter if they were still open. There was no response, just an aggressive "Eat in or takeaway?" To which I replied, "Eat in, please." A menu was passively aggressively pressed into my hand. After placing my order at the counter, I was asked if I wanted a drink. Since I wasn't sure yet, I initially said, "No, thank you, maybe later." I had to pay for my meal right there at the counter. I sat down, and my food was brought to me. The waiter didn't come to my table to ask how it tasted, which is why I unfortunately couldn't order a drink. Furthermore, I was made to feel unwelcome as a guest the whole time, as I apparently hadn't ordered enough. I received dirty looks and comments in Vietnamese (at least, I thought so). Since I had nothing to drink, I took out my water bottle to take a sip. Only then did the waiter become aware of it and came to my table to pick up my plate. He started shouting at me in a very loud voice. He said, "In Germany, you're not allowed to just take your drink out of a restaurant like that. We're in Germany here." Apparently, he thought I didn't speak German, as the phrase "we're in Germany" was used several times. I also found it very strange that all guests were served at their tables and were also billed at their tables. But in my case, I was told I had to pay immediately at the counter. Seeing that the other guests at the table were being served, I thought the waiter would come over so I could order a tea, which unfortunately wasn't the case. One of the worst experiences I've ever had, as I work in the restaurant industry myself, and I've never experienced anything like this before. Simply disappointing.

Expensive, unfriendly and dirty!

Unfriendly, hectic, uncomfortable! Long wait for pickup. The food tastes pretty good, though, hence 2 stars.

Portions were way too small at inflated prices, the staff was sometimes unfriendly, and the tables were still sticky from the previous diners. Once and NEVER AGAIN.

The DODO Sushi Bar offers a top price-performance ratio. Nowhere else in the surrounding area can you eat so deliciously and cheaply. The drinks are also good. The Mango Lassi is definitely recommended. At peak times, food preparation takes a little longer. Unfortunately, no card payment is possible. I still always enjoy coming here.

Very unfriendly. Today 4.3.25 2x fried rice with vegetables without meat for 17 euros. Is that normal? Impossible. Staff very arrogant. Never again!!!!!!

Pure disaster 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 there were three of us. One of us wanted to order sushi. When ordering it said he had to order at least 2 numbers. We would have ordered 2 normal dishes anyway. So in total there would be 3 numbers. After the slightly older man (I think the boss) spoke to us so unpleasantly, we decided we would only order 2x sushi and 3 drinks and eat somewhere else. After we wanted to pay we were told again that you can't just order drinks at the store🤣 We have been there several times and have never been informed by the waiter that there is a minimum order value. Other staff are always nice and friendly but the man 😖😖😖😖😖 It's a shame but never again...

Sushi for 6 people was picked up, the purchase price was paid and a tip was given. As we left the restaurant, I noticed that there were only two pairs of chopsticks. When asked to receive more sticks, this was surprisingly clearly refused. This was done in such an unfriendly tone that I, as a customer, have never experienced in a comparable degree in a restaurant. The taste of the food was okay. It was the last time I was there and I regret having brought business to such a business.

We ordered sushi to pick up, even tipped when paying, but there is no way to get even an extra pair of (cheapest) chopsticks. A couple per main course, you won't be treated to more, despite a tip. Unfortunately, the gentleman at the counter was in no way trying to satisfy us as customers and there was no sign of friendliness. So service sucks. At least the food is okay, but it doesn't make up for the lack of service.

Very tasty food, especially the sushi!

Unfortunately I didn't get the sushi I ordered. Also very long waiting times. Soy sauce was disgusting, but luckily there was another soy sauce on the table that was better, so that was okay. The quality of the sushi was below average, a lot of vegetarian sushi, very sparing with fish. On a second visit, the sushi was a bit better, and my companion also liked the duck.

Lunch menu extensive and completely reasonable in terms of price. Food very tasty. There is even a soup of the day at lunchtime. You can sit comfortably outside, as is typical of a snack bar. Staff is sometimes short but friendly. We will be back!

Horror experience! Unfortunately you can't give 0 stars. Today I went to eat with my girlfriend at the restaurant/snack bar in question. The staff was very unfriendly right from the start. After ordering, the starter arrived quickly. Because we shared the main course (sushi and chop suey) I wanted an additional place setting. After asking several times, nothing was brought, so I went to the counter. They tried to make it clear to me that there was only one cover because we only ordered one main course. After several discussions, I finally managed to convince you. The food was cheap but not tasty. When I sat down again the highlight came. A RAT went into the restaurant, disappeared and after about 5 minutes went back through the door to the garden! It was a unique experience in this establishment.

We really enjoyed being guests at this restaurant, not to say regularly, but we were deeply disappointed the last time we went to pick up our sushi 🍣!! 30 cents were missing, which the boss and an employee turned into an elephant. Despite the fact that we had of course brought him the money, he became rude and started taking out cookies and arguing about part of the order, in my opinion it was all an exaggerated act!!! The good gentleman once miscalculated on a day when we were eating there and gave us 50 euros too much. Since we are not monsters, we even brought it back to him when we noticed the mistake. So it's a shame how people are treated, this store has lost us as customers, which shouldn't be taken for granted these days. The food was good and good value for money. But yes......

The food simply tastes incredibly delicious. I was there with my friend in the evening and we had dinner. The young man who served us was friendly and had everything under control. He served the tables and the walk-in customers very well at the same time.

Totally disappointed today!! Entered the restaurant with my son around 7 p.m. At the time this was around 60-70% full. I personally placed the order with an older gentleman (probably the boss), two times number 10 (fried rice with chicken) to take away, he asked again for number 10, "yes, two times number 10". About a minute later I tell the gentleman that he should give my son the food because I have to move on now. Then he looked around and didn't understand at all what I wanted to say to him, suddenly he became loud and attacked me and said (food still needs to be cooked). I just said: "Yes, that's clear, give him the food (pointing to my son)". I then left the store. When we got home, I couldn't believe my eyes...it wasn't what I ordered, fried noodles. At the same time in the restaurant: A younger woman who had eaten on site was being served and wanted to have chopsticks with it, when the older man also got a bit angry and said "I'll tell you next time." So the customer friendliness of the older gentlemen is an absolute mess!

Man bekommt falsches preiswerteren essen bei Abholung, kann es nicht vorher überprüfen. Schon oft dort kaufte, jetzt nichtmehr bestelle dort. Am Telefon verstand sie nichts, wollte das ich neu bestelle. Unmöglich sowas

It was nothing special. I was expecting a more tasty meal. The tom gha soup was very small, yes it only cost 3,5, well in Dresden this is the usual price for this soup and it had a lot of carrots and asparagus sprouts in it. The chicken and fruit was very sweet and the sauce had a lot of starch in it, it was more like a sweet kissel. You couldn't order 1 roll, minimum 2, although for a meme it's weird, I mean we came and ordered a lot of other things, why can't I order 1 roll to an order. Spring rolls were batter and tasted like grandma's cabbage pies. Taking into account that they are far from the center, you have to go there specially, well it is not worth it, I have been in Dresden in the best places of this cuisine

Food tastes good and the price is fair.

Unfortunately the boss is completely wrong. I think rudeness is putting it too nicely. We have experienced several times how the boss harassed his guests completely disproportionately. He always seems completely overwhelmed. If the food wasn't so delicious the shop would have been closed for a long time.

Highly recommended, taste wise a 10 out of 10. The service is very friendly and accommodating. We'd love to come back

We were waiting for 40 minutes for the sushi to be delivered and we saw people who came after us already leaving with their order. They sent us outside to wait for our sushi.

The food tastes very tasty. 😋 The store and its furnishings have obviously been around for a few years. It is a classic Asian snack bar/restaurant.

DODO is by far my favorite restaurant. The sushi in particular tastes very good there as it has a balanced overall taste. The ambience is not modern, but it is all the more comfortable. A reservation was usually not necessary - but it can get busy at peak times. There are clean toilets. And you can only pay in cash!

One of the most rude encounter I have ever had in Dresden! I went pick my order and while I was ordering the staff was shouting as I couldn’t find the number of the item and I was telling him the name and he was like ‘ no don’t tell me the name tell me the number!’ And he was so loud! One of the worst interaction! Like literally the least you can be to a person who is paying you for a service is be kind!

Ein gemütlicher Abend zu dritt, welcher kurzfristig möglich war trotz einiger wartenden Gäste. Wir wurden freundlich und zeitlich gut abgestimmt Bedient und da Essen war auch wieder ein Traum.

Ich habe selten so lecker asiatisch gegessen. Nicht nur, dass es hier am Ende einen Wein und ein Glückskeks gab, auch das Essen wurde sehr stilvoll serviert. Etwas Abzug gibt's nur, weil es leider keine Speisekarte in blindenschrift gibt. Ausserdem ist es relativ eng. Aber definitiv empfehlenswert. Da sollte man mal hin gehen. Reservierung nicht vergessen.

Es war ein dreckig unfreundlich. Wo das Essen serviert wird die Pfanne war sehr verschmutzt.

Das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis ist sehr gut leider wird alles in einer frituese frittiert das schmeckt Mann leider dafür ist das Sushi 🍣 echt grandios und auch der Preis weiß zu überzeugen daß Ambiente ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen aber durchaus ansprechend

Great discovery here tonight. Just down from where we are staying is this quaint restaurant. It had an outdoor dining area and very authentic interior. Unfortunately not much English including the menu. So after some on line translation we decided on two dishes. They were great. Service was fast and friendly and the food was delicious. Large portions and reasonable prices makes it a place to visit. You won’t be disappointed

Waren schon öfter da und sind immer begeistert. Das Essen schmeckt wirklich sehr lecker und der Service ist auch super,reichliche Portionen! UPDATE! waren gestern wieder dort, diesmal waren wir nicht zufrieden,wollte mir mit meinem Sohn eine Portion teilen und fragte extra nach einem extra Teller plus Besteck. Bekamen wir aber nicht ,auf Nachfragen kam ganz unfreundlich 3 Gerichte nur 3 mal Besteck!( waren 4 Leute)Ich sagte aber ist für das Kind er schafft so eine große Portion nicht alleine. Ungewollte gab er uns dann das Besteck.

Sehr gut besucht....fast alle tische besetzt. Wir waren 7 Personen....ein gemütliches Beisammensein. Von außen nicht ganz so einladend... aber wahrscheinlich sehr beliebt. Essen war sehr reichlich und hat auch sehr gut geschmeckt. Ich war das erste mal hier.

Enttäuschend auf ganzer Linie. Ambiente: unsauber Speisereste an den Speisekarten, Tische kleben, in den Toiletten steht der Urin, keine Seife. Service: unfreundlich! Das Essen geschmacklos und offenbar ,weiß man nicht was und wie grünes Curry und rotes Curry hergerichtet wird. Die Sateespieße und die Erdnußsoße, die keine wahr nicht genießbar. Fazit überhaupt nicht empfehlenswert schlechtestes Essen in ganz Dresden. Außerdem wollte man uns keine Rechnung geben. Hier stimmt etwas nicht!!!

Also wirklich lecker,ich hatte gebackene ente süß sauer mit reis...die Getränke haben zwar etwas gedauert aber die leute hatten auch gut zu tun weil es gut besucht war

Wir waren eine größere Gruppe und es wurden ohne Probleme zwei Tische zusammengeschoben und auch sonst war das Personal sehr nett! Das Essen war frisch, heiß und lecker. Alles sehr preiswert! Wenn ihr eine 4Sterne-Küche erwartet, seid ihr falsch. Für richtig gutes, preiswertes Essen aus einem Familienbetrieb genau richtig! (-;

Erlebnisgastronomie der schlechteren Art. Unser begleitender Einheimischer hat uns vorab versprochen, dass die Bedienung sehr "gewöhnungsbedürftig" sei. Dieses Versprechen wurde knallhart eingelöst. Beeindruckend unfreundlich und mürrisch war der Kerl. Da wir mit den Kindern dort waren und nicht so viel Hunger hatten, wollten wir zwei Gerichte teilen. Wie in einigen anderen Kommis bereits geschildert, wurden wir extrem unfreundlich darauf hingewiesen, dass jede Person ein Gericht bestellen MUSS. Warum, wurde nicht erklärt. Wir haben das dann stoisch ignoriert. Als die Kinder zusätzlich Stäbchen haben wollten, hieß es nochmal: "JEDER EIN GERICHT!!!!1!! ER HAT JA SCHON EINEN LÖFFEL!!!1" Der Hinweis, dass das doch unsere Entscheidung sei, wurde mit dem Versuch getadelt, uns eine GABEL wegzunehmen, damit auch ja keiner Essen kann, der kein Essen bestellt hat. Wir haben den Besteckteller geschickt abgeschirmt und den Raub damit knapp verhindert. Danach wurden wir mit Ignoranz bestraft. Keine Nachfrage nach Getränken oder Dessert. Einen Punkt gibt es für die Konsequenz und Ausdauer, die die Restaurantfachkraft an den Tag gelegt hat. Der freche Ton und die respektlose Art wurde bis zum Schluss durchgezogen. Am Ende gab es nur vier Glückskekse (für sechs Personen) - klar, Strafe muss sein. PS. Das Ambiente erinnert eher an eine drittklassige Imbissbude oder eine Verkaufsstelle kurz hinter der Deutsch-Tschechischen Grenze. PPS. Nur Bar-Zahlung möglich. Alles sehr seriös. Viele Grüße an das Finanzamt-Dresden Nord. PPPS. Wir haben die vier Gerichte gerade so geschafft. Geschmacklich war alles ok, aber auf gar keinen Fall besonders.

Unfassbar unfreundliches Personal. Richtig abschreckend, wie der Kellner mit uns gesprochen hat, weil wir die Sojasoße in die falsche Schale gemacht haben. Wirklich schade, da das Essen sehr lecker war.

Sowohl Sushi als auch die warmen Speisen sind sehr lecker und nicht zu klein. Im Sommer ist Biergarten auch gut besucht.
