One thing in advance: We are or WERE regular customers of the Discountschenke for many years and have eaten well here very, very often. But our experience today shocked us so much that we won't come back. We ordered Curry Klops from the bar, which was sold on a plate with lots of sauce. We sat down at a table outside, all of which were unoccupied because there was a pretty cool wind blowing. We were immediately woken up by an extremely "friendly" employee. You are only allowed to sit there if you have ordered from him. When we asked where we should eat our food since all the bar tables were occupied, the "friendly" gentleman only shrugged his shoulders. If a nice gentleman hadn't made a little space at the bar table, we would have had to eat our food while juggling in the air. We've really never experienced anything like this before. And will stay away from us in the future too...

The gastronomy in Saarbrücken is always worth a visit.

I hope the store will be there forever and ever. You can get good Saarland cuisine pretty cheaply. Definitely recommended.

My grandfather took me when I was little at a time when people smoked in the establishment, now I go there with my husband and my daughter whenever we come to Saarbrücken. I don't speak the language but I try to make an effort and I have always been well received, there is a certain courtesy with the customers and I always eat there with pleasure.

Yesterday we had a lovely evening together with the whole DINO BANDE in the discount tavern! Diskonto Schenke is simply a Saarland legend. As an “Exile Saarlander”, a visit to the Discountschenke is a MUST every time you stay in Saarbrücken! The food tastes like home, the waitresses are real veterans and simply GREAT! In addition, the price-performance ratio is right.

This restaurant was recommended to us by a woman from Saarbrücken. We found it very friendly there and were served straight away. The price-performance ratio is absolutely fine. The prices are really kept so low that everyone can eat there. I would encourage every visitor to Saarbrücken to stop there.

Ich hatte nach der Arbeit Lust auf eine Rostwurst und beschloss mir am Imbissstand der Diskonto Schenke diese zu kaufen. Im Nachhinein hätte ich diese besser woanders gekauft da die Bedienstete dieses Etablissements wohl etwas überfordert und eher ungehalten über meine Bestellung. 1. Die oben erwähnte Bedienung erschien sehr vertieft in ihre Putztätigkeit 2. Nachdem ich sie gegrüßt hatte wurde mir mit erhobener Stimme und wütendem Gesichtsausdruck 'Bitte' engegengebellt 3. Wortlos und mit sauere Miene händigte sie mir mein Wechselgeld und die Rostwurst aus 4. Nachdem ich ihr ein schönes Wochenende gewünscht hatte kam auch keine Antwort. Ausserdem fiel mir negativ auf daß diese Person extrem lange, lackierte Fingernägel hatte, was sicherlich nicht deutschen Hygienevorgaben entspricht. Mein Fazit: das nächste Mal kaufe ich meine Rostwurst woanders.

When strolling through Saarbrücken city center, there is always a place to go for good Saarland home cooking. The schnitzels are well fried and available with various sauces, the rump steak is very good, the Saarland dishes such as Gefilde, Stragge or the Lyoner pan with fried egg are the same as you would make at home - simple but delicious. The service is always courteous and quick, even when there are a lot of guests - no one dies of thirst or hunger here. And if you're feeling a little hungry on the go, the attached snack bar offers the usual suspects such as Rostwurst (red/white), currywurst, fries and the like.

No frills, hearty, really tasty meals, some also Saarland specialties. Nicely rustic and nice service. We recommend.
