DIONYSOS Restaurant in Jena

We reached 5 mins for before closing for lunchtime. The waitress welcome us very warmly with complementary drinks. I ordered mushroom and parmesan dish from starter list, then chicken and spinach. The food was good. There was greek music. The service was good. I will visit again

We've been coming here every now and then for 10 years. As permanent campers in Jena, we unfortunately can't eat here very often. It's a shame. But when we're here, there's no way around this Greek restaurant. No matter what you order, starters and main courses are sensational. And the ouzo before and after your meal isn't something you'd expect at every Greek restaurant. We've never been disappointed here; everything is delicious and fresh. The staff is very friendly and the prices are reasonable. In my opinion, the restaurant's outdoor area can't be topped here in Jena. Spread across several levels, you can sit so comfortably under a roof covered in vines. Dear Dionysos team, keep up the good work, and we'll definitely be back.

Delicious food, pleasant service

A truly wonderful place. When the season permits, you can sit outside, but under a good roof. It's very comfortable even when it rains. There's plenty of space, too. And then there's the food... Today, my eyes were bigger than my stomach, and there's a very extensive menu/drinks, etc., so choosing is really difficult. There are so many dishes that really appeal to me, making it hard to decide. But the staff is patient and friendly. They also have a sense of humor. The ambiance is rustic yet very stylish. There are cozy booths and large tables for many guests/groups. We'll be eating there more often; we've never been disappointed. I can confidently recommend this place with a clear conscience.

A very good Greek restaurant. The food is delicious and the portions are generous. A cold Mythos (Greek beer) is served with it. The obligatory ouzo is served as a welcome drink. The service is fast, attentive, and very friendly. Excellent! A fantastic experience for any lover of Greek cuisine in Jena's oldest Greek restaurant.

It was bad before, and it's even worse now. The portions have gotten smaller, the sauces increasingly watery. The appetizers are okay. The outdoor area is okay, too. I dread the day I have to step foot in the restaurant again. All in all: Started weak, declined sharply

Our favorite Greek restaurant in Jena and a restaurant steeped in tradition. The food is delicious and, in our opinion, offers the best value for money in Jena. The menu is extensive but concise. The food is served in a friendly manner. The owner is regularly there in person, and guests receive a warm welcome. In summer, there is a large covered beer garden/terrace. We particularly recommend the mixed warm appetizer platter and the fish platter. Larger groups can also dine together here with reservations.

A large restaurant with indoor and outdoor (covered) seating. Service is very friendly, and the food and drinks are typically Greek and very tasty. The value for money is excellent! The children's menu could be slashed on the onions (should be mentioned beforehand), and it would be nice if smoking was prohibited in the covered outdoor area.

I really can't understand why the rating here is only 4.3 stars. The owner puts a lot of effort into it and the food is first class, starting with the bread. All the options were well made, but the best part in my opinion was the eggplant cream. However, there was one small point of criticism: the fish was grilled correctly, but it had been on the grill for a bit too long. However, you won't get such a good selection of fish anywhere else...

I have rarely experienced such excellent service. The staff is super friendly, courteous and considerate. The food tastes excellent, no matter what you order from the varied menu. Thank you very much and see you next time :)

It's a nice atmosphere and thanks to the outside terrace and the outdoor seating, you can hardly hear any street noise. And the staff is always friendly and the orders always come quickly and hot. It's always a pleasure to eat there.

Nice service, nice ambience, food is good too

A very cheap and solid lunch menu, good gyros. But anyone who gives this 5 stars has never been to a very good Greek restaurant. Best price-performance.

All in all completely okay. Nothing special, but not completely desolate either.

For a student town like Jena, an excellently run Greek restaurant. You feel at home here as soon as you enter and you receive a very friendly welcome. It is very clean here and the staff is very concerned about making you feel comfortable. The price-performance ratio is okay and not exaggerated. All dishes are fresh and taste great. Highly recommended and when we are in Jena again we will go there again.

The food charred and reheated. The salad tasted like water. When the almost full plate was returned for €19.50. Wasn't even asked why.

We always ate here at longer intervals. Unfortunately, things are no longer as they were. Portions are much smaller and there is room for improvement in terms of taste. The service left a lot to be desired yesterday, there were 7 people on site. We waited over an hour for our food, even though there wasn't much going on. That was probably our last visit to the restaurant. Staff seemed bored and somehow another colleague was always responsible, just not the one you had spoken to.

Food was ok, quantity too. It was very loud in the beer garden.

Friendly and attentive service. Very good food. No long waiting times. There is an ouzo to greet you and say goodbye. On request also non-alcoholic or espresso. In my opinion, you can get the best grilled pepperoni with garlic here, for example. Super tasty, superbly prepared. I haven't found a better restaurant yet. Overall, Dionysose is also my first choice when I go to the restaurant with friends or visitors here in Jena.

Unfortunately, the quality is no longer as good as it used to be. Food just average and real problems with the bill. A pity!

In my opinion the best Greek in Jena...

Never had such bad gyros before. Some of the meat was discarded because it was charred. Fries almost cold and mushy from the beans placed on top. Even the cola somehow lacked carbon dioxide. Garlic bread was quite good, but it wasn't particularly challenging. There may be other opinions, but at least this is my experience.

The price-performance ratio is absolutely fine and the quality is also good. For my taste it's not quite enough for 5 stars, there's still room for improvement but I'm happy to give a solid 4 stars for the food and ambience. The service staff was very good. Attentive and quick without seeming intrusive. 5 Stars!

Unfortunately, Doinysos is past its best. The food is typically Greek, but without any highlights. The service does what it's supposed to do. And if I do my math correctly, the Dionysos is unrivaled here in the north because it's the only pub where you can still go.

Highly recommended when the weather is nice behind the house in the fresh air and with an inexpensive lunch menu. The restaurant is easy to reach on foot from the Eulenhof.

Best Greek restaurant in Germany!

We have had lunch here several times with seniors. Friendly and attentive staff, tasty food, ouzo or espresso on the house. We really enjoy being there.

Ate here at irregular intervals for years. So far typically Greek (hospitable, warm, rich). But now a big disappointment. The portions are much smaller and the quality is significantly poorer (tough meat), although the prices have of course been adjusted to today's standards. The service also seems to be in a hurry. As soon as I sat down, I should know whether I wanted an appetizer. I also missed a little more friendliness. The ambience is also the same as it was 25 years ago. Accordingly in need of renovation. Very unfortunate. No longer recommended at all.

We were there for lunch, there wasn't much going on and yet the service wasn't good. Even if you don't know the language, you can smile and be friendly. My meal (fish platter) wasn't enough for the price. The restaurant used to be better.

Five of us were guests on Good Friday! It was a wonderful and very tasty evening. Martina and her staff were friendly, courteous and attentive. The food was delicious and the service was top notch. My friends came all the way from Saxony and would come back at any time. My son really liked the "children's schnapps" and was happy to order it again and again. I recommend anyone who wants to have a wonderful evening to visit this restaurant. If I could give ten or more stars, I would. We would love to come back and definitely!!! A special thank you goes to the boss and the kitchen. The service was great and friendly! Clear recommendation!!!

The five of us ate in the restaurant with guests on a Saturday evening and didn't look at our wallets. We ordered a table using the contact form on the website, but received no confirmation or response. Our reservation doesn't seem to have arrived at all. No matter, there is enough space and there was still a table available for us. Unfortunately, there were several things that we didn't like. The service always gave us the feeling that everything had to happen quickly and that we weren't given any time to choose between courses. Sometimes you wait forever, but here we felt rushed. The warm and cold starter platter was excellent, but the main courses were unfortunately only mediocre. Our impression was that everything was already pre-cooked and just warmed up, which was particularly negative with the gyros and the chicken (both sticky and dry). The Metaxa sauce doesn't deserve the name, maybe the cook should get a real recipe for it. The same goes for the cream sauce for the rigatoni, it didn't taste like anything. We were also pressured to take a dish that we had accidentally over-ordered and immediately undone because it was supposedly already cooked. Does it have to be that way? A little friendliness would be good for the young ladies serving. The prices are reasonable, but we were left with the impression that they place more value on quick turnaround than on quality.

After the prices have skyrocketed...you should expect some friendliness. The service was unfriendly, hardly any complete sentences...no smiles or friendliness. Last visit there.

The table ordered was not available, but two tables were pushed together. No table decorations in the entire restaurant, only small, colorful table runners. Service was curt, the sauce was the same for all the different dishes chosen.

Essen war unterirdisch (angebrannt, voller Knorpel und total wässrig). Sitzgelegenheiten /Tische viel zu eng gestellt. Personal war freundlich.

Auch wenn das Ambiente etwas Auffrischung vertragen würde, ist das Essen sehr gut und reichhaltig. Die Bedienung ist super und auch Wartezeiten sind kurz. Gerne wieder.

Wir sind auf Empfehlung dort essen gewesen. Sehr ungemütliches Ambiente. Gardinenlose Stangen ist nur ein Beispiel. Das Essen war echt nicht zu empfehlen. Aphrodite Platte ohne Tzaziki sehr komisch. Der Tomatenreis geschmacklos...man konnte noch das Wasser vom Reis kochen schmecken. Mein Gericht Moussaka für 17 Euro hatte eine Größe von 15x15 cm. Wo ist denn da der Wert bei einem Auflauf? Wenn ich nicht noch den gebackenen Feta als Vorspeise gehabt hätte, hätte ich mir zu Hause wohl noch ein Brot schmieren müssen. Also unterm Strich haben wir uns mal wieder geärgert, essen gegangen zu sein. Der Service war freundlich jedoch sollte man auch da mal über den Kleidungsstil nachdenken. Ich weiß nicht ob die Nike-Leggins das richtige Outfit für eine Bedienung ist. Alles in allem werden wir da keinen Fuß mehr rein setzen. Dafür sind uns, für 2 Personen, 60 Euro einfach zu teuer.

Echt sehr schön, schade dass hier und da ein paar Sachen im Ambiente kaputt sind, wie etwa die Treppen. Schönes familiäres Restaurant! Sehr nette kellner*innen. Essen aber etwas mangelhaft leider.

Es war wieder sehr schön, wir mussten zwar ein bisschen länger warten ,weil es so gut besucht war, alles zu unser Zufriedenheit. 👍

Wunderschöner Garten mit super Ambiente und Feeling. Schade wegen des Essens…Schnitzel wurde kalt geliefert mit kaum Sauce. Anderes Gericht wurde trotz Nachfrage mit Reis statt mit Kroketten geliefert. Auf Nachfrage würden das Gericht nicht mit Kroketten liefern. Die Preise sind trotzdem okay.

Das Essen war sehr lecker, allerdings waren die Wartezeiten für mich persönlich zu lange (an einem Freitag waren wir essen) und man wurde auch schnell in dem Trubel vergessen. Dennoch sehr schön 👍

Essen war eher enttäuschend, eine Sauce für alles. Wenn ich für Kids Nudeln mit Tomatensauce anbiete, dann sollte es auch solche sein. Dann nicht die Sauce, die für alle übrigen Gerichte auch genutzt wird. Auch die übrigen Hauptgerichte waren nicht so toll, Fleisch trocken, Bohnen fast wie Brei. Vielleicht hatten wir nen schlechten Tag erwischt. Gesamte Restaurant etwas in die Jahre gekommen, so schmeckt es dann vielleicht auch einfach. Vorspeisensalat war sehr gut.
