The restaurant has been completely renovated, but the schnitzels are still worth the trip. And it's not just the schnitzels that are noteworthy; actually, the cordon bleu is the real star of this schnitzel factory. I like to stop here whenever I'm in the area.

We were there for dinner and had venison goulash and a schnitzel. Instead of venison goulash, we had venison steak. Both were delicious, and the portions were generous. From the terrace and the restaurant, there was a beautiful view of the Hegau region and Lake Constance. The prices were a bit above average.

We spontaneously stopped by the Hegaustern for dinner this evening. The first impression when you walk in is very stiff. A strange atmosphere. The food was good and plentiful. It was freezing cold in the restaurant because all the doors were open. The service was abysmal for our taste. We preferred to stand outside smoking or chatting at the bar. No one asked if everything was okay. You're not allowed to be thirsty here. We had to go to the bar to pay, even though we were paying with cash. The cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. We won't recommend the Hegaustern in this condition.

The food was good and tasty, but Maggi has no place in a good kitchen. The hollandaise sauce tasted like Maggi; there are so many good spices out there that you don't need the chemical-laden Maggi.

Great restaurant. After I ordered a shandy, which never arrived, I drank my own apple spritzer and enjoyed the beautiful view. A waiter who happened to be passing by asked me if I hadn't ordered. No, definitely not. Very unfriendly service, cobwebs on the walls, dead flies on the windowsill, and beetles on the walls. Apparently, this isn't the case. Even in extreme heat, the dog wasn't even brought a bowl of water. We often took the dog outside to at least give him the water we always carry with us. We were there with 11 people. Reviews have already been written, and the responses to them were ridiculous and deceitful. For example, they said they couldn't remember us being there with a dog, which is so outrageous because the waiters didn't dare go near the dog at the table. They also talked loudly about us, saying we were just complaining, etc. All of this was denied. Despite the complete disappointment we experienced there, we remained friendly with the waitress, even though she had a tone that was truly depressing. If you don't like contact with people, you should find another profession. In conclusion, it was our first and last time there and I really can't recommend this restaurant other than the view.

But that was definitely the last time... same as last time... bad service... cake was wrong, cream was forgotten, and the cappuccino, well, still tasted bad and was served in a regular coffee cup and cost around €4... phew, an absolute NO GO!!! Attached is a photo of a really good cappuccino for which you'd happily pay €3.80. ------------------------ We were out on our motorcycle and thought, let's stop for coffee and cake.... We ordered two cappuccinos, one plum cake with cream, and one raspberry... Both cappuccinos were lukewarm because the milk was apparently not warmed but came straight from the fridge?!?! The cake was good... But then... €20 for everything, phew.... Sorry, but I can't recommend you like that!! Yesterday, we spent less than €17 for a cappuccino and cake plus a multivitamin. Normally the waiter or landlord asks if everything was okay...Hegaublick is much better.

Hello, just to say that what I wrote is also true. If you overlooked the dog, then I wonder why your waitresses were so afraid of it. Next, everything was full of cobwebs and not from yesterday, so it's a complete surprise that they have to clean every day. Next, your unfriendly, older blonde waitress spoke to us in a very unfriendly manner. She also spoke loudly about us at the front of her counter and pointed out that everyone of us paid and the rest of the money was kept from everyone. It's strange when 11 people are wrong, but just read your other reviews, not all the people who had the same experience can be wrong, but I'd be happy to come in person, no problem at all. And as for paying, everyone could pay at the table except us.

Absolutely NOT recommended!! The service was very unfriendly, they gossiped about guests even though they were walking right past them. By the way, they kept the entire remaining money, even though they didn't say "that's right." The cleanliness was catastrophic! Spiders and cobwebs were everywhere; you could clearly see they'd been there for a while! Dead flies were everywhere on the windowsills and on the floor. Dogs are apparently not welcome either! In temperatures over 25 degrees Celsius, they didn't even get a bowl of water; instead, you had to take them to the car every time so they could get a drink. The only thing that's really great is the view. And no, we're not confusing you with the other restaurant, as many reviews claim. Since we won't be going to this restaurant again, we unfortunately can't take any pictures so you can see the uncleanliness!

Terrible! We're writing this restaurant off until the next tenant changes hands. The only positive memories are the wonderful view and the shady garden. Dirty cutlery. The so-called Swiss sausage salad is a mushy mess, an indefinable, sticky sauce with cheese mixed into a sticky mush. The curry rice is tasteless, with no curry in it. Given its location, the restaurant has enormous potential. It will close soon.

Super nice beer garden with a great view. Unfortunately, the food isn't good. I had potatoes wrapped in aluminum foil with mixed salad. The mixed salad consisted of three green leaves and a teaspoon of sliced carrots. There were also three drops of balsamic vinegar. The potatoes weren't hot. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the food here.

A great and truly delicious restaurant. The portions are truly generous—we had both the "small" and the "regular" portions. We sometimes had some leftovers in both, which is definitely a testament to their quality. In addition to the various variations of schnitzel, there are croquettes, potato salad, fries, and spaetzle, among other dishes. If sauces aren't included, you can order them separately. The staff were extremely friendly and even asked if everything was okay. The view is simply magnificent.

Unfortunately, the food was primarily about quantity. A slightly smaller portion size and a focus on quality would have been desirable. Some plates were returned almost full, which is a shame. A wonderful view – but that was it, unfortunately. We ordered a sausage salad. It was so small that it took three forks to eat. Unfortunately, it tasted very bland, with no dressing, so the bread that came with it was useless for dipping into the sauce. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back!

The food lacked flavor. No card payments accepted. Clearly room for improvement. Our visit with four people was on June 19, 2025.

It was our first time there. Our food arrived very quickly and was delicious. Unfortunately, many people confuse the Hegaustern with the Hegaublick, which is very close by. I recommend the Hegaustern (Schnitzelfarm); I will be back for dinner again.

Beautifully located restaurant with ample parking. We were there with a large group of motorcycle riders and wanted to eat outside. Since there weren't enough staff, we were asked to eat inside. We then agreed to carry our own food outside and pay in advance. This also relieved the staff of their stressful workload a little. The various dishes were all very good. We would be happy to come back....

Good schnitzel. It's best not to order anything else here. Cutlery was dirty. Glasses were dirty. Sausage salad has a mustard and vinegar dressing. Interesting, but not necessarily recommended. So if you just want a good, large schnitzel with side dishes, aren't thirsty, and bring your own cutlery, you can eat well here.

We've been there several times. The Schnitzelfarm is located on the Hegaublick between Geisingen and Engen. The view is incredible, especially when the weather is nice. You can see all the way to the Alps. The food was always very good. I've had the spare ribs several times, and they were incredibly good. My wife has tried various schnitzels and was also very satisfied every time. We will continue to go to the Schnitzelfarm regularly in the future.

Unfortunately, my visit to the Hegau Stern was anything but satisfactory. The service wasn't particularly friendly, which made the atmosphere unpleasant. The cleanliness also left a lot to be desired – there were ants on the windowsill, which gave an unhygienic impression. The restrooms were particularly disappointing: Of the three women's restrooms, one was completely closed, and the middle one was clogged with a sanitary pad. Only one was usable – definitely inadequate and unpleasant. The only bright spot was the good view, but that alone unfortunately couldn't make up for the many shortcomings.

The staff only came with the food after a 3 hour wait despite reservations, plus they brought the wrong food and could hardly speak German

The view is fantastic, but you shouldn't come into the restaurant if you're hungry. We went on a Sunday and yes it was busy, but waiting an hour for food is clearly too long. There is definitely a lack of staff here, but instead of taking this into account and reducing the space available, the staff is running to capacity. The food was good, but not worth an hour's wait.

Perfect for a motorbike stopover. The name says it all here. The portions are large. Ordered schnitzel. The drink and food came quickly. Unfortunately, the schnitzels themselves aren't really seasoned, but the sauce and side dishes make up for that. The facility is a bit old. The view from the balcony is outstanding.

Was there yesterday with the family. There were 10 people, FOUR of these 10 people had dirty glasses... and I don't just mean a little dirty... You could scrape the coating off from the inside with your finger. Upon request we were given new glasses, the waiter handed the glass to a person by touching it on the drinking surface (outside). After we raised this issue we were treated unkindly. Cleanliness and politeness should be very important in the catering industry...but here you look in vain for them in the small print. I don't want to know what's going on in the kitchen!!! The WKD would certainly have a lot to do here! Never again!

Even though the restaurant wasn't really full, this lady was visibly annoyed by the guests. A friendly smile and the accompanying “Hello” --> none. Conclusion: When we go out to eat, we go to the Meisterklause in Hegne (the two restaurants belong together), everything is right there!

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place. The food was disgusting! For a restaurant that advertises schnitzel, my schnitzel was dry, unseasoned and not nearly warm. The fried potatoes were unseasoned. The starter was completely ignored. Well the conclusion never again. My companion's food wasn't good either. We had dinner here last night with a larger group. If pure saturation and not quality is important to you, you can stop here. I describe the service as rather unprofessional, when paying you can expect a waiter to come to the table and you shouldn't go to the counter yourself. The schnitzels are large and dry (motto: quantity instead of quality), the sauces are more reminiscent of pudding (ready-made sauces?) and the spaetzle also seems to be a convenience product of lower quality. The view is simply unbeatable. I won't visit the restaurant again because it's too bad for me to spend the money.

Huge portions and very friendly service

I have been a guest here several times now. This restaurant offers, among other things, a large selection of schnitzels and cordon bleus in different variations. That's probably why I like going there. The food has small weaknesses here and there. The fried potatoes could be less dry and fresh mushrooms could be used for the hunter's sauce. The portions are very large. The small schnitzels are enough for me. The service is very friendly. It has a good view. Parking is easy, the restaurant has plenty of its own parking spaces. It's good to know that card payments are not offered here.

We went to the schnitzel farm for the first time today and were very enthusiastic about the food. The schnitzels are excellent - the breading coats the meat in a fluffy way. The mixed salad plate was also rich and fresh. We therefore could not understand the negative reviews. The ambience could be even more harmonious, but the Hegau area can still be enjoyed with a sensational view. We would love to come back.

We ate here on a Sunday 3 weeks ago. The starter salad was fresh, crunchy and really tasty. The schnitzels were surprisingly good and the portions were more than sufficient. The service could still be worked on. All in all, I would definitely recommend it and visit again.

The food tasted five stars, but unfortunately, I've ordered it several times via the app. Picked up the food, and it's a shame that the food wasn't prepared as ordered. This wasn't the first time this has happened. It can't be that difficult to correctly forward the online order to the kitchen. We ordered a hunter's schnitzel, but there was no sauce. The menu said it came with mushroom sauce. Greko schnitzel without breading, but it was breaded.

I can only report on the gastronomy here. We were three people for dinner in week 03-2025. Two ordered the schnitzel - Viennese style small portion. The food came in a short time, 5 minutes after ordering - which we tolerated - everything was obviously ready somehow. The quality was okay, the portion was sufficient with a side dish of your choice. Then the two schnitzel eaters ordered sauce - which is common in our area. There was no mention of additional payment from the waitress. Everyone got their own sauce. When paying, the surprise came - the sauce was charged extra for 3.20 euros - that borders on a rip-off and destroyed the entire price-performance ratio. Therefore only 2 stars. Tip: don't order any extra sauce It's unlikely that we'll go there again.

We wanted to go out to eat in Engen last night (Friday December 27th) because on the web it says the kitchen is open until 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Arrived there at 9 p.m. and the statement came before a good evening "Kitchen already closed until 9 p.m. " We then left and said maybe next time. Then came from the Lord “What should be done?” It's never happened to us in Hegne.

Quantity instead of class. The name is quite appropriate. If you want to eat cheaply, love large portions and are tolerant of mistakes, this is the right place for you. If you're in a bit more of a good mood, you can endure the mistakes already mentioned in the other reviews. The food is very rich and we were "warned" that we should only order a small portion. As you can see in the two pictures, one is a small cordon bleu about 2cm thick and I had a small chicken schnitzel, and we each had a "small" portion of fried potatoes. It tasted very tasty but wasn't manageable... but we had another meal the next day.

Very tasty and rich food. 2 small drawbacks, if you want to call it that: The lady who brought the food was a bit unfriendly and rude and you can't pay by card. We didn't think that was that great. Despite this, it is incredibly tasty, lots of it and you have a breathtaking view of the Alps!

The spare ribs were okay but nothing special. At the time of our visit there wasn't really much going on and you still had to wait a long time until the two service ladies took care of you. Unfortunately, card payment is not possible either. So we had to turn around at the door and drive to the bank in Engen. I think there are a lot of guests who then go straight to the restaurant around the corner. It should certainly be possible these days at reasonable fees. Maybe the chef and service had a bad day... Still won't come again.

Very friendly staff and a sensational view. We were there with several people. We ordered in advance, among other things: the small mixed salad and bruschetta. Afterwards we treated ourselves to Jägerschnitzel, Vampirschnitzel, Meister and Diavoloschnitzel. Each of us was very satisfied but none of us finished our portion. But it wasn't bad. So we still had something for the next day. We'll definitely be back.

I only ate there, so I can't rate the rooms. The food is excellent. The best cheese spaetzle ever. Not with onions from the bag, but the onions steamed in the pan. The service is quick and very friendly. The view all the way to Lake Constance is fantastic. When the weather is nice you can enjoy the food and view outside. I can highly recommend the restaurant.

I ate Coedon Bleu Zurich style. Very tasty, juicy and good value for money. What more could you want?
