Der Rote Hirsch in Stuttgart

... wie schlechtes Personal ein Geschäft kaputt machen kann. Unsere bisherigen Erfahrungen im Roten Hirsch waren eigentlich immer eher positiv. Vor allem in der Anfangszeit. Die Servicekraft empfing uns schon mit einem veermeintlich flotten Spruch, der jedoch bei uns nicht so gut ankam. Im noch ganz leeren Lokal erschienen wir 1/2 Stunde zu früh und fragten höflich an, ob wir unseren reservierten Tisch vorab belegen könnten. Sie sagte kurz und knapp "Nein, erst um 18 Uhr". Wir durften aber dann doch schon rein. Eine von uns zeigte auf den lauschigen Ecktisch und fragte ob es dieser wäre. "Ganz sicher nicht". Wir fühlten uns unwürdig für diesen Tisch, 3-klassig, abgekanzelt... und ertrugen es mit Fassung. Wir bestellten 3 verschiedene Weißweine, da eine Vorabprobe mit einem Schlückchen Wein wohl nicht mehr Usus wie früher hier war. Der eine riechte und schmeckte nach Klebstoff - wohl ein Weinfehler namens Styrol. Der zweite war für meinen Magen nicht bekömmlich. Jemand von uns brachte in zur Theke, da die Servicekraft mitlerweile mit vielen neuen Gästen beschäftigt war. Diese freundlichen Mitarbeiter bestätigten uns unsere Wahrnehmung. Die Servicekraft bemerkte unsere Handlung und meinte "Geduld ist wohl nicht ihre Stärke". Sie brachte uns die zwei Ersatzweine und meinte "man kann doch nicht einfach zwei Weine zurückgehen lassen, aus Kulanzgründen würde sie diesmal eine Ausnahme machen". Wie gnädig! Durch gut gemeintes Denken - alle Hauptgänge zur gleichen Zeit bringen zu wollen - saßen wir sehr lange ohne Essen da, bis eine von uns, die keinen Hauptgang bestellt hatte ihre Vorspeise gegessen hatte. Zum Essen: Vorab das Positive: der Rostbraten und die Suppe waren gut. Aber: Auf dem Rote Beete Carpaccio war nur eben Rote Beete, der Käse, Nüsse und ein paar Sprossen zur Deko. Keine Marinade ode ähnliches. Wir besorgten uns Essig und Öl selbst, da wir mittlerweile mit der unfreundlichen Dame keine Worte mehr wechseln wollten. Der Beilagensalat hatte ein süßes Dressing, so süß schon, dass einem jeder Bissen widerstrebte. Fazit: die Zeiten für Besuche des Roten Hirschen sind vorbei. Es gibt genügend gute Alternativen in der Nähe.

Wir waren 1.2.25 zum ersten Mal im Roten Hirsch und haben von der ersten Sekunde an nicht bereut. Das Ambiente in dieser Lokation war sehr schön aufeinander abgestimmt. Die herzliche Begrüßung war schon wirklich ehrlich und authentisch. Ich hatte für meine beiden Freunde und mich einen Tag vorher, einen Tisch reserviert. Als wir eine halbe Stunde vor der eigentlichen Reservierung im Lokal ankamen, war's für Tresen Chef kein Problem, obwohl optisch der Platz sehr beengt schien. Vorweg gab's für uns, Brot mit zwei hauseigenen Dips, reichlich und lecker. Die drei (Schnitzel, Maultaschen und pulled pork Burger) verschiedenen Hauptgerichte waren ebenfalls (sehr) lecker. Inklusive der sehr netten Bedienung, war es für uns Norddeutsche, nicht der letzte Besuch dieser tollen Lokation.

Äußerst freundliches Personal, das Restaurant klein aber fein. Alles in sehr schönem Ambiente und das Essen war super, der Zwiebelrostbraten eine absolute Empfehlung.

We discovered this restaurant spontaneously. The waitress was super friendly and spontaneously gave us a very nice table. Super delicious food, great service, everything perfect! We will come again!

Unfortunately the menu was misleading and we had to pay twice for a dish that was advertised as a shared dish for two I was charged twice for a plate of some okay-ish cheese, grey and dry break with some sausages that certainly dont justify that price, instead of elaborating how and solving i was left with a "you didnt read well" EDIT: because the owner thinks "that the menu is very clear" i provided the screenshot where you can see it says "auch für zwei"- how does this imply that you will have to pay the 19 Euros twice when you order it.

Anyone who moves into the parquet of elegant to upscale cuisine should master the dance and not just adjust the price. The Chef de Service is largely responsible for the disaster on New Year's Eve, every course was wrong even at the neighboring tables. Who knows why leaving out goat cheese from beetroot soup is a problem. Tagliatelle with herb char, the Chateaubria was bland and dry and fried until the soup meat, all the plates were cold and the dessert was factory made. Too bad.

A restaurant located right in the heart of Stuttgart-Bad Cannstadt, the center of Europe! A large selection of dishes for people who like to consume dead animals but also for herbivores. Also enough for the so-called “vegans”. I will definitely come by again.

The staff was really attentive, very friendly and extremely professional. The dishes we ordered were, on the one hand, incredibly well cooked and also very beautifully presented. You can tell that the ingredients are carefully and carefully selected. The drinks menu also leaves nothing to be desired. Here, as with everything, attention is paid to regionality. The location on a small market square with no traffic and a fountain is very quiet and cozy. All in all, absolutely recommended!

Wir konnten hier einen unglaublichen Abend verbringen mit einer absolut einzigartigen Atmosphäre und einem unglaublichen Abendessen. Alles ist absolut stimmig und 100-prozentig selbst gemacht. Danke für dieses tolle Erlebnis wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wunderschönes Restaurant! Die Einrichtung ist rustikal und modern gemischt. Das Personal war richtig aufmerksam, sehr freundlich und äußerst professionell. Die Gerichte, die wir bestellt haben waren zum einen handwerklich unheimlich gut gekocht und auch sehr schön präsentiert. Man merkt, dass die Zutaten bewusst und gründlich ausgesucht werden. Auch die Getränkekarte lässt nichts zu wünschen übrig. Hier wird, wie bei allem, auf Regionalität geachtet. Die Lage an einem kleinen Marktplatz ohne Verkehr, mit einem Brunnen ist sehr ruhig und gemütlich. Alles in allem absolut empfehlenswert!

Nachdem der Rote Hirsch lange Zeit eines meiner Lieblingslokale war, muss ich es nach meinem gestrigen Besuch mit einer Freundin leider von dieser Liste streichen. Der Aperol Spritz war nichts anderes als ein "Mineralwasser-Spritz". Das Pulled Pork im Burger war kalt, ebenso das Geschnetzelte. Zum Dessert gab es nur eine halbe Portion Kaiserschmarrn. Der Service war sehr unprofessionell: Der Kellner mischte sich unaufgefordert in Gespräche ein, reagierte nicht auf die Klingel der Küche und ignorierte Reklamationen. Statt den Aperol Spritz nach meiner freundlichen Reklamation zu ersetzen, wurde erneut der gleiche wässrige Drink serviert. Früher war der Rote Hirsch wirklich gut – diese Zeiten sind wohl vorbei. Sehr schade!

Beautifully located restaurant on the market square with good wines and impeccable food. All the dishes we ordered (homemade pasta, Maultaschen, cheese spaetzle, South Tyrolean dumplings…) were described as excellent and were very nicely prepared. In front of the restaurant there is a small, cozy hut for 10 people, which is highly recommended. The service was very friendly, so all in all we can speak of a top dinner.

The Roter Hirsch is a high-priced restaurant where guests can expect professional composure from the staff. When we wanted to take our seats at 5:50 p.m., 20 minutes after making the reservation, we were informed that we were no longer entitled to the seats. When we saw the few occupied and reserved tables, we saw this as a theoretical indication that if the restaurant were completely full, we would no longer have been able to get any food because other guests would have been offered "our" seats. We simply ignored the fact that we had just been reduced from paying guests to supplicants. That's why our rating of the visually appealing and well-seasoned dishes is a little more sober. We ended up giving a tip because the waitress' behavior had normalized and the kitchen delivered a good result. Maybe we'll come back. But we will certainly try out whether other chefs in other restaurants also do a good job.

Uncomfortable experience trying to ask for a table for my parents that do not speak German quite good. I received as an answer "no, there's no table for that time, is too late". When I tried to answer if would be possible at an earlier time I was suddenly interrupted saying "bye", the call was finished. Very rude way of treating a client.

Wir waren schon öfter, in verschiedenen Konstellationen, hier essen. Es war immer ein schönes Erlebnis. Das Essen ist qualitativ hochwertig und der Service super. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der Wildgulasch, ein Traum. Eindeutige Empfehlung.

It's the memorable dinner in my old business trip. I had a chance to enjoy in this nice restaurant with the delicious dishes along with the great summer day.

We received great service, very friendly and accommodating. There was a lot of praise and the waitress still always had a smile. The food is a bit pricey but it's definitely worth it. Very fine selection of dishes, absolutely delicious in terms of taste.

I was there last Tuesday, we sat outside. I ordered the Tyrolean dumplings and a large beer. What can I say: The food came quickly, the dumplings were very good, I really enjoyed them. The beer in the clay mug as well. The waitress was very accommodating and funny, there was a lot of laughter. I'll be back the next time I visit Cannstatt.

Azian Imbiss. We had a nice dinner. Portion were large. Duck was fried until crispy. Atmosphere feels like Asian snack bar. We could sit outside.

There's something for everyone on the menu! Typical Swabian dishes and other delicacies. The wait staff was very busy but made every effort to keep the waiting time to a minimum. The food was very good!

Sono stata a cena in questi ristorante in occasione di un breve soggiorno a Stoccarda. C'è una cameriera che parla anche italiano, e ci ha fatto subito sentire a nostro agio, ma anche il resto dello staff è stato molto cortese. Il menu offre diversi piatti della tradizione sveva, noi abbiamo optato per dei wurstel con insalata di patate e una specie di cotoletta con Spätzle, tutto molto buono e ben preparato. I prezzi sono nella media, lo consiglierei per una serata informale e sicuramente ci ritornerei.

In the last twenty years I have rarely eaten as well as I did today at the Rotes Ochsen. This sets standards for Stuttgart! In addition, there is excellent service, where you can tell that the friendliness comes from the heart.

We had something to celebrate and stated this when making the reservation! We received a very friendly welcome, the service was not only extremely professional, but also authentically friendly! The wine recommendation really suited our taste! The dishes were very, very well prepared! The dessert variation (not on the menu) is also brilliant! Thanks to the Rote Hirsch team for this completely successful evening!

Delicious salad, great wines and a nice ambience

To be honest, I'm a bit ambivalent about the rating. The food is delicious, the portions are decent, the prices are reasonable to a little high. Ambience is modern and appealing. There were five of us, with one child, and we ate well and had something to drink. Bill ended up being 230 euros, which is ok. But here are my criticisms: To take the leftovers with you (the little one still had half a schnitzel left) you will be charged €1.20 per package. That’s pretty petty, or is it just “good Swabian”🤷🏻‍♂️? But what really annoyed us was that the “packaging” was a Styrofoam box, which has not been permitted or even banned for years for good reasons. An absolute no-go for us and the boss should urgently reconsider this. All in all, still a benevolent 4 stars.

Reserved, received confirmation, received cancellation an hour before the appointment, called with a lot of question marks on our faces: “Um, what happened, we just came from Berlin and are hungry…???”. “Yes,” said an overwhelmed employee, “that’s what the back of the office does, it happens sometimes and no, we’re full, you can’t eat with us today.” And we thought it was something personal. In any case, we will never make a reservation there again. Too risky.

Every year we come to Stuttgart from all over Germany (Kiel, Frankfurt, Munich...) for the tennis tournament and a visit to the Hirschen is a must! Super delicious food, very friendly service and great ambience. Today it was particularly “BAD” with the Michael Jackson waiter 😉😎 A visit is absolutely recommended!

The restaurant is well located in the city center Drinks and dessert were good. The main course lacked flavor, mushrooms were limp. The price of 70€ for two veal meat cakes with spaetzle and two beers would have expected much more! The service was friendly and attentive. I would have a drink and maybe a dessert outside in the summer. But not more.

Business with wine sales would probably also be another good name for this restaurant. Service was quick, even though the place was relatively full. Good selection of food but not much for vegetarians. Food was good (lye burger) had enough side dishes. The waiter who took our order was very fair here - we first had to wait and see whether we got enough salad before we immediately ordered a salad as a side dish. It's not explicitly stated on the map.

We spent a really perfect evening there. The service was great! The atmosphere is incredibly cozy! And the food is an absolute 12/10! We ate the venison goulash and beef brisket. At the end there was the chocolate cake. One of the best restaurants I've visited so far! Really a big recommendation.

The four of us in the hut in front of the restaurant. The food was good. The ambience in the wooden hut...well. But we wanted to disturb the other guests as little as possible while playing cards. Drinks were OK. The older waitress seemed unfriendly. When we pay we get a lecture... We didn't consume enough. One of our teammates hadn't ordered anything to eat, which was mandatory. I think you lost four guests...

I chose to go to this restaurant because it was one of the few in the area open on Sunday for lunch. Even though the place was empty, they asked me if I had a reservation, letting me sit only after consulting the "reservation book", as if they had done me a favor. (In the one hour I was there, only one table was occupied.) Furthermore, I find it unfair to display prices on the English menu that are different from the German menu. In fact, I opted for two traditional classics, namely "Geschmälzte hausgemachte Maultaschen" and "Alblinsen mit Spätzle und ein Paar Saiten", respectively shown on the English menu at a cost of 14.90 Euros and 17.90 Euros. In reality the prices are very different, the first course costs 16.60, while the second 19.90. The food itself wasn't that great. The lentil dish was made with a lot of mustard/mustard, making it nauseating in the long run. While the other dish was definitely more appreciated. I recommend going elsewhere.

Proprietary It would have been 5 stars for the food. However, the Maultaschen soup was so watered down that it would have been better to use a tea bag instead of the Maultaschen as an insert. Everything else was delicious, the service was good and the atmosphere was great.

Nette Einrichtung. Jedoch waren die Kellner sehr schroff und u freundlich. Lange Wartezeiten und das Essen hat die Erwartungen leider absolut nicht erfüllt. Es waren große Portionen aber leider absolut nicht zum genießen und nicht frisch.

Restaurant plutôt sympathique et nourriture correcte. Nous avons pris des burgers de porc effiloché et risotto (de blé, pas de riz .... nous sommes trop faible en Allemand). Le repas se passe bien, grosses quantité. Alors pourquoi une note moyenne ? Nous passons à la caisse, on nous annonce le montant (sans montrer le détail). Nous payons, sans être choqués par le montant, on nous donne le détail (après avoir payé) et nous partons. De retour dans la voiture, on regarde la note et surprise, 2 plats (pour plus de 16€) ont été ajouté sur notre facture. Nous étions déjà loin et nous ne sommes pas retourné pour le signaler. Je ne sais pas si c'est intentionnel ou si c'est une "erreur" mais un conseil, ne faites pas comme nous, contrôlez votre note avant de payer. Ca nous a laissé un goût amère ...

Had a reservation for two on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Terrible reception from staff..!!! This is not how you behave in the catering industry..!!! Lots of tables available and got a table at the entrance. When asked if it could be someone else, a rude “no”. Do you have to specify the table when reserving???? As far as I know, you couldn't choose anything online! Ordered 2 butter schnitzels. Was good. Price at 22 € also OK..! But the onion roast for €33 ..??? I think it's quite hearty...! Won't go there again..!!! Regardless of the fact that all of the clothing has to be washed because it has absorbed the grill smells!

Easy to book online. Good menu including traditional Schwaebisch food and delicacies such as venison and duck. I had the Maultaschen soup followed by the Butterschnitzel and Spaetzle. All very delicious and unlike a lot of German food I have had not at all salty. My meal was washed down with local beer, Dinkelacker, in a Stein. Old fashioned perhaps but to me gave the restaurant a certain edge. Nice decor and friendly staff. I also liked that as I was on my own my food came quickly. Price was reasonable. Will definitely return if opportunity arises.

I am in love with this space :) The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the food is delicious with excellent portion size for the price. Creative and true to Swabian traditions with offerings that have a twist as well! And it’s a beautiful atmosphere – plus they have a menu in English, which is a great help. They were very child friendly and welcoming each time we go. For parking: there is a parking garage nearby called ‚Parkhaus Mühlgrün‘. 4 min walk and avoids tiny road and small parking spaces if you prefer to skip that.

All good, just a little too expensive.
