A quick jump off the train and a short walk lands you in Der Grosch. Oozing with old world charm, this gasthaus/restaurant/brewery is worth a pop-in for a beer, an excellently prepared old school German meal, or a stay-over. Excellent staff, and exceptional beer.

The portions are a disgrace for the price. The dumplings were jelly-like (not Coburg sliders). The service leaves a lot to be desired. Once and never again...

A beautiful old inn, very lovingly and tastefully decorated for Christmas. The food was excellent, the service attentive and extremely friendly. The contrast of the modern and stylish room - wonderful. I'm already looking forward to my next visit in February 🙂

We were here with a group of around 13 people and took a tour of the brewery followed by food and beer tasting. We were all very enthusiastic about the expertise of the young head of the brewery management and no questions remained unanswered. All beers taste great and leave you wanting more. The entire family is very nice and welcomed us warmly in the restaurant afterwards. We had a delicious meal there and were completely satisfied with the overall package. (The rooms cannot be rated because we did not stay there)

We have eaten at this inn several times and have always been very satisfied. But what I had to experience today was really sad. They order food, unfortunately not recommended. The cordon bleu is black on the edge. The roulade was completely pale and tasteless. But the worst is yet to come: The (dumplings) were subpar, unfortunately. They ran off the hook. ??? An almost raw, liquid mass that doesn't deserve the name dumpling. I mentioned it to the waitress, but I could have saved myself that. No excuses from the kitchen. My wife's malt drink doesn't taste the same as it used to, it's completely watery. All in all not recommended and therefore out of our visitor list. Too bad

A lousy sauerbraten here costs a whopping 20 euros! Yes, that's right 20. And what do I get for that 3 very small slices of roast and 2 dumplings. The sideboard is also very amateurish and reminiscent of a cafeteria. No decoration on the plate and no chopped parsley on the dumplings, just zero! Conclusion: It's better to go somewhere else for cheaper and better food.

Everything was fine, it's just a shame that apart from breakfast, no other eating options could be offered due to the lack of strength. I wish there was at least a coffee/tea machine.

I was here on business with a colleague and also stayed overnight. The food was fantastic, the room is nice and everyone is nice

The high-priced beers on tap lack the typical quality of a Franconian beer. They lack liveliness. Only after we switched to bottled beer on the second evening were we able to enjoy the beer on offer again. The dumplings and sauces are very tasty. The pepper knuckle was stringy and fell off the bone.

We were very enthusiastic about this inn: good location; large parking lot right next to it; very good food and value for money; good hospitality and friendly service that makes many things possible. We would like to thank you very much for everything.

Traditional house with Upper Franconian cuisine and wonderful home-brewed beer. I'm a wine drinker myself, but when it comes to Grosch I only drink the family beer.

Went there with a group of 9 people and were able to reserve a table at short notice. We were served very friendly. We were constantly checking to see if drinks were missing. Lunch was very good. All in all a successful visit to the Gasthof Grosch. Not to forget the excellent Groschen beer.

Went to the inn for lunch today. Didn't meet my expectations. Although offered on the drinks menu, our beer was served by the bottle. Unfortunately, the baked dumplings with mushrooms that we ordered were not good. On the one hand, the dumplings were fried, not baked, and then the taste was very weak. Unfortunately our overall impression is negative.

Sehr unfreundliches Personal. Mittagessen war geschmacklos und kalt. Auf Nachfrage wurde uns ein neues Essen gebracht, was wiederum auch kalt war. Nie wieder.

A great place to have a cozy meal, for regular meetings or simply a nice evening in the beer garden. Also a great place for children. We will definitely come back again. Keep it up, we always feel welcome and super comfortable.

A table was reserved at Grosch for our grandson's schooling. The first thing we do is grab the colorful napkins. Our grandson was thrilled. By the way, other families also took advantage of the opportunity at the school enrollment party to go out for a good and tasty meal. The service MUST be praised highly. Extremely friendly, accommodating and helpful. Everything runs so smoothly...just a really well-coordinated team. A pleasant atmosphere indicates a good working atmosphere. The food was really tasty. Duck, sauerbraten, roulades etc. nobody could say anything negative. The place is very clean. I can recommend Grosch with a clear conscience. By the way, our grandson, I assume it was the boss, was given a small sugar bag with good wishes. I wish the staff all the best. Thank you very much

We were there with the family for school enrollment. What I found very thoughtful and clever was that the families were accommodated in a separate room with the children starting school. For some parents it is unpleasant when children disturb other guests. This is also less stress for us parents. The tables were decorated appropriately for the occasion and there was even a sugar bag for the little ABC shooters. The service was very friendly, courteous and unnoticed or in no way intrusive but still always there to help when needed. The food was good, home-style, of a very high standard. We all enjoyed it and no one had anything to complain about. My sauerbraten was perfectly tender, the sauces were a dream and generally the quality of the ingredients was wishful thinking from other restaurants. The whole thing is available at an absolutely fair price. Our conclusion: We will definitely come back.

We celebrated my husband's big birthday at Grosch and were completely satisfied👍👍👍. During the consultation, our wishes were taken into account and we were given valuable tips. The evening itself went well, the individual courses were very tasty and the service (many thanks to Rebecca) left nothing to be desired. Very happy again!!!

Rooms are great, there's nothing to complain about. Delicious food and absolutely great beer. Staff is nice and makes an effort. Come back soon.

Uh, I wanted to go to the beer garden on Friday (8/30/24) around 5:30 p.m. to have another beer or two. Was traveling by bike. The “beer garden” (parking lot with tables and chairs) felt like it was max 1/4 full. Then I came across the sign “we will assign you a seat…please wait…”. I thought to myself, I'd go meet the waitress and walk to the entrance of the restaurant. There I met a young man (obviously a waitress) and asked him if I could sit at a small table and have a beer? Answer: I'll come to you soon. So I didn't actually want to check in at the Adlon, but instead wanted to drink a beer in a beer garden that was more than half empty. After so much pragmatism, I just went next door (domain). Everything is completely uncomplicated, good beer (Staffelsteiner) and no “fuss”. Picture and sound fit together here. Continued success with the “Grosch concept”…

Schöner Biergarten, gemütliche Atmosphäre. Haben auch ohne Reservierung einen Platz bekommen. Essen war lecker, jedoch die Portionen für den Preis etwas wenig. Die Servicekräfte hätten freundlicher (mal etwas lächeln/danke,bitte) und aufmerksamer sein können. Im Großen und Ganzen ok.

There is no relationship between price and performance!!!!!! Unfortunately, our stay was not a pleasant experience. The first meal (schnitzel), it was just schnitzel weeks, what I had ordered was no longer available. We didn't get a compromise or an accommodation for a different meal either. We are normal eaters, but given the portion sizes none of us could feel full. And at absolutely sporty prices. Example: a piece of salmon trout with potatoes 32.50 euros. In terms of taste, it really wasn't as outstanding as one would have hoped for given the price. When we asked about the portion sizes, we were told that we were extremely good eaters. We ordered the same wine twice and it suddenly tasted different. When we asked, the waitress was obviously annoyed by us. We then observed two employees tasting the wine at the bar who looked at us and rolled their eyes and whispered. But we got two new glasses and she poured us some from the bottle at the table. And lo and behold the wine tasted good again. In the end the hefty bill arrived and we left dissatisfied. We then sat across the street at the Italian restaurant and treated ourselves to large sundaes of ice cream. It still fit in easily. Conclusion, never again. Absolutely not recommended.

Great location and nice staff. The food is great

We went here for dinner today and everything was really great. Super nice, friendly and courteous staff, very nice atmosphere and the food was really delicious! We had the brewer's steak and the baked dumplings with sour cream and salad and both are highly recommended! There is also a great selection of food and drinks and we can only recommend the inn. Thank you for the lovely evening, we would love to come back!

A nice restaurant in the middle of Rödental. The location right next to the train tracks cannot be ignored. The beer garden is really great on warmer days. Inside there is a bit of a lack of creative love in the furnishings. The food is good, home-style, and the recommendations for the right beer are always great. The monthly promotions are really varied. Today, for example, pulled beef burger.

Franconian hospitality at its finest. Due to my profession, I have traveled extensively for 40 years. This family-run hotel and its beer garden are exceptional. The rooms are beautifully furnished and very clean. A bit warm, but there is ventilation. A great shower. You just feel comfortable. And the beer garden tops everything. Lovely Franconian cuisine at an acceptable price. Dreamily good beer. And snaps that doesn't even give you a hangover. I've been here four times now and hope there will be countless more visits. My team will also be holding a conference here soon. Simply fantastic. Franconian hospitality at the highest level. I have been traveling a lot for work reasons for 40 years. On the way from Havelland to the Franconian wine country by motorbike, we planned to spend the night here. Rooms large and harmoniously furnished. The beer is great and tasty. Delicious dishes on the menu, the Franconian brawn was great. Gladly again!

My family has been eating here for decades. Sometimes just like that, sometimes on occasions, no matter what kind. We have always had good experiences here and that's why we keep coming back. We can highly recommend the inn. I also find it remarkable that no matter how busy it is, people take the time to recommend food or discuss special features.

Unfortunately, I rarely write reviews, especially negative ones. I'm just referring to the restaurant here. I invited my family from out of town. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was of no relation to the price. We've eaten here a few times, which was okay but not exactly the best... But acceptable... In terms of taste, the rump steak for over €30 was absolutely not recommended. Unfortunately, the actual reason for the negative review is the expired beer “Luthertrunk”, which was intended as a gift for friends and was even more embarrassing when the photo came when you were back home. It's actually a shame if you want to represent your region positively... Otherwise all the best for the future.

We booked a brewery tour for 12 people and we all agreed that it was the best tour of a brewery we had ever had. A very, very nice, young and competent host who introduced us to both the new and the old brewery in about 2 hours, with stories from his childhood. The beers all tasted excellent and the lunch menu is also recommended. In short, anyone who is here should definitely take a guided tour!

Wir waren seit langem mal wieder im Gasthof Grosch. Die Preise für fränkische Verhältnisse sehr gehoben. Das Essen geschmacklich im Mittelmaß, aber Touristenpreise !!!!! Brauereigasthof mit Flaschenbier, eigentlich erwartet man frisch gezapftes Bier. Absolutes „no go“ man bekommt eine Flasche Bier und das Glas dazu lieblos auf den Tisch gestellt. Das ist kein Service, in jeder Dorfkneipe wird das Bier ins Glas eingeschenkt.

We were at the Cross brewery with a group of cyclists. We had a very nice dinner there and received excellent service from Maria. We really liked her open nature and nice conversations.

I didn't spend a night in one of the rooms but definitely would. Just passing through for a bite to eat. The food and restaurant were fantastic! I love the schnitzel. Waitress had excellent English. And super comfy and relaxed atmosphere. Very close to the train platform as a tourist passing through.

The brewery inn “Der Grosch” in Rödental is a perfect starting point for numerous activities. It is only a few minutes walk to the historic Rosenau Castle with its beautiful park. Queen Victoria's Prince Consort Albert was born here in 1819. Coburg, adorned by the "Fränkische Krone", is just a stone's throw away. Many sights make a day very entertaining. To fortify yourself, we definitely recommend a Coburg bratwurst on the beautiful market square. The surrounding area is also ideal for excursions. Not to forget Callenberg Castle, Goldbergsee, Bad Rodach, the doll town of Neustadt b. Cbg., Thuringia and much more. Hikers and cyclists also get their money's worth.

Our family celebration was a complete success. Great organization, nice atmosphere, delicious food and great service. Gladly again at any time.

Dies ist erst meine 2. Rezension, ich möchte sagen, daß dieser Gasthof mit Hotel jeden Trip wert ist! Das Personal ist extrem freundlich und aufmerksam, man fühlt sich sofort in familiärer Atmosphäre. Das Essen ist supergut, ich stand vor einem "Luxusproblem", weil immer wieder ein Tagesgericht angeboten wurde, welches die Karte noch übertroffen hat :-). Die Zimmer sind nett und gemütlich eingerichtet. Die haben hier auch einen ortsansässigen Gin im Repertoire, auch einige Geschmacksrichtungen, einfach lecker und 48%. Der stammt aus dem engsten Freundeskreis von Maria, einer ganz lieben Kellnerin. Da haben sich 5 Kumpels zusammengetan, die dieses wunderbare Getränk fabrizieren. Außerdem gibt es hier eine hauseigene Brauerei, die man besichtigen und verkosten kann. Die Begeisterung merkt man mir wohl an und ich habe für diese Empfehlung auch keinerlei schlechtes Gewissen oder Bestechungsgeld erhalten. Einfach glücklich! Macht euch selbst ein Bild!

I was there one night for business trip and we had dinner in the Hotel. Really nice and characteristic. The room are big and new. They have a good restaurant and an excellent beer.

Food is good and plentiful - but Everything wasn't warmed up properly. And pretty “proud” prices.

Today's honorary event went smoothly and the food tasted excellent!

Suckling pig roll and a carter's drink for Father's Day, both very good. One star deducted for the roll that was too expensive (€6.50), but half of it was only €1.50. 01/14/2024: Today for lunch with part of the family. We were completely satisfied and the beer was very good anyway. My favorite is the Fuhrmannstrunk 😊

The facilities are very clean, the service is excellent, and it has the character of a German home, rather than an impersonal flavor as a hotel. The restaurant is typical German for this region, I suggest you try to Sauerbraten, or anything with the local Klöse, a unique potato dumpling dish with extraordinary softness that blends perfectly with the sauce. German cooking at its best! Also, the place is open throughout the day, late into the evening. I hear that their sausages (Bratwürste) are also close to perfection. This place has a history that goes all the way back to 1425 - that alone is worth a visit!

We went to the Landgasthof Grosch for New Year's Eve dinner. Great food, great atmosphere and friendliness of the service... simply great!

Always food and drinks to our satisfaction. My wife likes the Franconian roast pork with dumpling. I was impressed by Matje's fillets with steamed potatoes with a hearty side dish, including apple pieces, sour cucumber pieces and delicately spiced sour cream. Delicious! Pleasant: there is also something to eat a la carte outside of normal times. We were satisfied again - as usual. And the staff is characterized by friendliness and good service...

Always delicious food. And good beer. Even alcohol-free. Despite the “full” restaurant, friendly service and quick service. Wow! Hats off. Gladly again! Wir sind seit vielen, vielen Jahren zweimal im Jahr zu Gast im Grosch und das gesamte, deutschlandweite Team ist von Zimmern, Service und Essen begeistert. Die herzliche Begrüßung und das sehr partnerschaftliche Miteinander über all die vergangenen Jahre machen Vorfreude auf die nächsten Jahre.

Die Unterkunft und das Restaurant sind absolut nicht zu empfehlen. Ich denke, es ist das einzige Hotel auf der Welt, in dem die Rezeptionistin gegen den Gast ist. Es gibt keine Freundlichkeit, sagen wir, die Angestellten schreien sich auch gegenseitig an, also ist es verständlich, es ist alles so psycho. Die Zimmer sind in Ordnung, es gibt Parkplätze. Wenn es nichts anderes gibt, sollte man dort nur übernachten.

Wir waren am Sonntag im Gasthof essen, die Speisekarte ist sehr übersichtlich gestaltet und das Ambiente ist herrlich. Eine Mischung aus rustikaler Gaststätte mit einem modernen Touch was aber absolut passend ist und sofort zum verweilen einläd. Die Gerichte der landestypischen Küche sind gut portioniert und wohlschmeckend, vor allem das selbstgebraute Bier kann ich nur empfehlen! Alles in allem sind wir mit einem positiven Eindruck gegangen und werden auch definitiv wiederkommen!

Das Essen wie immer Spitze. Ohne Voranmeldung habe ich wieder ein lecker Mittag bekommen. Die Toiletten sind sehr sauber. Punktabzug: keine Tücher für die Hände auf der Toilette und es riecht im Flur stark nach Dieser.

Sind zum Essen dort gewesen und war sehr angenehm überrascht von Personal freundlich Bedienung schnell und essen und Atmosphäre war alles super , ich habe Geflügel Leber mit Bratkartoffeln gehabt und war sehr lecker und auch reichlich . Getränke Nachtisch auch alles super. Gerne wieder

Die Zimmer waren sauber und gut. Der Service war entweder sehr gut oder sehr schlecht. Hing von der Person ab. Zum Beispiel war die gepiercte Dame an der Rezeption sehr unfreundlich. Sie war schon genervt, wenn sie angesprochen wurde und es entstand der Eindruck, dass alles nur widerwillig gemacht wird. So eine Person hat nichts an der Rezeption verloren. Auch war das Personal zum Teil nicht sehr hilfsbereit. Z.B. auf die Frage ob wir das Frühstück am Sonntag vielleicht schon um 7.45 Uhr einnehmen könnten, erhielten wir eine glatte Absage. Frühstück gibt's Sonntags ab 8.00 Uhr. Basta! Das Frühstück selber war gut. Es war alles vorhanden und die Damen dort waren sehr nett. Das Hotel ist sehr verschachtelt.

das essen ist wirklich sehr gut, aber beim preis fragt man sich schon ob das noch angemessen oder viel zu hoch ist. also eher oberes preissegment.

Die Rezeption eines Hotels ist das Aushängeschild auch zu Zeiten von Personalknappheit.In diesem Hotel sitzt hier eine junge Frau,die mit einer Mischung aus Pampigkeit und Arroganz agiert.Hier ist der Gast nicht König sondern ein kleiner Schuljunge!!

Sind mit dem Fahrrad ab und an hier und das Essen ist sehr lecker. Personal ist auch sehr freundlich und traditionell angezogen. Das gefällt uns und da kommen wir öfters. Immer wieder gerne und echt sehr zu empfehlen. An den gängigen Tagen, sollte man Platz reservieren, sonst bekommt man nichts, da ausgebucht.

Ich Persönlich war Überrascht da so Viel Junge Personal dort uns Bedient hatte was ich Persönlich Gut finde weil ich auch Ungefähr in dem Alter Bin aber So viel zu meiner Seite. ^_^ Wenn man Was Gutes Essen Will ist das aufjedenfall ein Guter Laden wenn man Leckerers Essen Möchte und sie Bieten dort auch ihr Eigenes Grosch Bier an was Heutzutage auch leider immer seltener wird aber im Großen Ganzen Auch von den Portionen wo ich echt Satt Wurde Kann ich nut Gutes Berichten ^_^

Nette Location für den sonntäglichen Mittagstisch mit leckeren Bräten, aber auch Schnitzel oder Salate. Ein Teil der Wirtschaft ist recht urig eingerichtet, dort sitzen wir besonders gerne. Ein weiterer Bereich ist moderner und für warme Sommertage gibts es auch einige Aussenplätze. Die Bedienung ist durchweg besonders freundlich ne verdient höchstes Lob! Klasse Personal! Für unser Kleinkind stand bereits der Hochstuhl und Sachen zum Malen bereit, wir waren begeistert! Das Essen kommt sehr schnell und schmeckt richtig lecker! Wir sind dort deshalb sehr gerne!

Wenn die Weissbiergläser auch noch gut eingeschenkt gewesen waeren würde es zur Vollpunktzahl gereicht haben...

Essen zurück geben kein Problem. Das Schäufele war total vertrocknet. Definitiv zu lange auf dem Ofen. Austausch mit Perfektem Schweinebraten. Service Kellner mit sehr pikierten Anmaßung gegen über der Reklamation. Man sollte Ihn nicht zu Laut ansprechen! Ist ja Unerhört! Wie kann das sein? Er ist doch der one and only beim Grosch! Also Definitiv beim nächsten Mal keine Bedienung durch diese Person!

Gestern mit einer großen Gruppe von 20 Personen angereist. Sehr schöne und saubere Zimmer. Abendessen sehr lecker. Ausgezeichneter, schneller und sympathischer Service. Nur zu empfehlen

Tohle bylo docela zklamání. Pokoje sice čisté a upravené, i postele celkem v pohodě. Ale koupelna byť krásná, tak totálně nefunkční. V deset večer ani kapka teplé vody a navíc nedostatečný odtok sprchového koutu. Po chvilce sprchování byla voda až ve vedlejší místnosti. Co se jídla týká, tak jsem měl polévku která byla příšerně slaná a až skoro nepoživatelná. Jejich pivo je velice dobré a snídaně taky v pohodě.

Toller Biergarten zum Einkehren. Bedienungen waren freundlich, Essen sehr lecker und die Auswahl am eigenen Bier ist groß.

Gutes Essen und die Zimmer sind ordentlich modern und sauber 👍

Das Essen war lecker. Die Bedienung war sehr kompetent, lustig und freundlich. Haben uns rundum sehr wohl gefühlt. 👌

Tolles Hotel netter Service, reichhaltiges Frühstück. Leider Sonntags ab 15 Uhr geschlossen.
