Das Walz - Restaurant & Café in Bad Dürrheim

Lovely café, lovely outdoor area, very good cake. Reservations are recommended for larger groups; it's a spa town café, after all. Prices are borderline.

We've rarely experienced such outstanding, creative cooking. It was a taste experience and 100% worth the price. We went to Restaurant Walz two consecutive evenings. Thanks to the chef and the lovely waitresses.

Good, albeit quite expensive. However, the cake slices, for example, are a reasonable size. The service is extremely friendly—which can't be emphasized enough. A bit overly over-the-top customers, but that's not the shop's fault.

Everything was very fresh and flavorful. The portions were well-balanced. Highly recommended!

My brother-in-law and I decided to have a quick beer while passing by. We went in, quickly ordered, and a minute later we were sitting outside in the perfect late summer weather, enjoying our cold beers. The service was excellent.

I wanted lunch and was assigned a table next to the cake counter, despite the restaurant being empty. The menu wasn't brought to me until I requested it. The menu was brought to me in a display (a man-stopper from outside)! This isn't appropriate for an upscale restaurant.

I'd highly recommend it. Firstly, it's open all day, secondly, the food is delicious, and despite the busy times, the service is friendly. However, it's a bit more expensive than elsewhere.

The culinary city tour of Bad Dürrheim took us to Das Walz, where we were served Maultaschen (swabian ravioli) in a cream sauce. I found this combination to be outstanding.

Unfortunately, I couldn't eat. The evening kitchen doesn't open until 5:30 p.m. I'll try again in the next few days and post back. It's supposed to be really good, though. That's what many spa patients say.

Highly recommended. I haven't had such a delicious cordon bleu in a while. It was a good choice to stop here at the end of my active week. And they spontaneously brought a table from inside for other guests – super friendly and amazing service.

I ate a delicious walnut cake and drank a coffee. Next time I visit, I'll pick something delicious from the menu.

Good food and service, but 5.40€ a 0.75L water bottle felt like a theft

I was here alone for dinner and was initially ignored until I was finally allowed to order. The food was very good, but a bit expensive for one franc. The waiter apologized for the wait and bought me a cappuccino. 😁

I actually wanted to have a nice coffee with my husband, but were turned away because they had no space, even though there were free tables. Maybe it was because my husband has darker skin. That's why I give it zero points

Breakfast with friends is always too short. Pressure is created to go again for lunch guests. Portions too small and some dishes look like Bofrost Cake covered in sugar. Florentines don't have an almond flavor because of all the sugar. Chocolate tasted old.

Lake Constance prices and I don't think the food is that special right now.

Nice cafe with very tasty cakes. Large selection of cakes, the staff shows you to the table, you can usually get a seat even without a reservation, highly recommended.

The Walz is an institution in Bad Dürrheim. Here the guest is valued, no effort is too much for the busy operators and the always friendly staff - hospitality at it's best. Bad Dürrheim without stopping at Walz? Unthinkable for me.

After both waitresses consistently ignored me several times, I left the café again

The food isn't bad, but you only get senior plates. It's too expensive for that.

We discovered the café/restaurant by chance. Since we were very impressed with the service in the afternoon with coffee and cake, we stopped by again in the evening for dinner. The food is excellent and definitely worth a visit. The venison schnitzel and entrecot were fantastic and the service was first class: friendly, attentive and professional. Every detail is paid attention to, making the visit a completely successful experience. 🤗

The starter made me suspicious. This could have been presented better. Oh dear, I thought so. Made mistakes. But then. Wow. Top duck with wild broccoli. Very well fried. Great sauce, everything went well. Very friendly service.

I expected more after all the praise. The selection of cakes was manageable (2:30 p.m.). Almost all the tables were occupied and it was very loud.

Very popular and lively café in the afternoon and then a restaurant from 5.30 p.m. You can sit outside in the pedestrian zone. The service is attentive, but there were only two of them and they really had to walk. With the nice weather, the café was really full... The Black Forest cake was very tasty.

The iced coffee was very tasty. Unfortunately there were a few wasps there, which is normal. It just doesn't have to be the case that they crawled into the sugar dispensers.

If you would like to eat well, we recommend "the Walz". Be it schnitzel or fish, salads or soups, veal or game - everything is excellent! The service is always friendly. On Christmas Day we chose duck breast, vegetables with fine noodles and a delicious orange sauce. On Boxing Day we ordered veal cheeks, delicatessen vegetables and herb potatoes. The second dish was venison ragout with handmade spaetzle, mushroom sauce and cranberries. All dishes are of the best quality and very tasty! We are already looking forward to the New Year! ----------------------------- Today, July 14th, 2024, we were back at Das Walz. We enjoyed a saddle of veal steak with chanterelles, cream sauce, pasta and a salad. It was delicious! ‐---------------------------------------

Surprisingly good. Had a nice lunch and enjoyed the coffee. Everything spotlessly clean and the ladies have everything under control, with a big smile of course. In any case, we recommend it.

Surprisingly good cuisine. We sat outside on the terrace. The plates are beautifully presented and the flavor combinations are original and match well with the dishes.

Great restaurant with excellent food and service

The food was delicious, the waitresses were very attentive, nice and friendly. When it comes to interiors, there are different tastes and generations. Of course it fits the house, but maybe something more modern for the next renovation (not that one would be necessary)...

Went for lunch and ate very well

Very tasty food! I especially liked the unusual card. But not exactly cheap. Children's meals on the menu would be great, but the kitchen still conjured something up. It's nice to sit outside.

The salad I ordered was fresh and crunchy, far too simple for my taste for the hefty price of almost €14 - very “crunchy”! The service was friendly but very reserved. The atmosphere is very nice and high quality. Cake and coffee tasted excellent! Tables are placed far too close together! We could only have a very quiet conversation, but the conversations at the tables to the right and left of us were fully heard. A nice cafe in the pedestrian zone - recommended!

We were here for dinner today and had delicious asparagus and salmon. Our waiter, a young man, was so friendly and fun, which is rare. Thank you!

Was in the busy café around lunchtime on a Saturday. Very attractive selection of cakes and cakes. My order came very quickly. Unfortunately the Black Forest was not fresh. Apparently from the day before. Cream was already dried and cracked on the outside. Either it's older or stored incorrectly. I didn't taste any of the kirsch. I'm really disappointed in this regard.

We were only there for coffee, but the cake alone was delicious and if you see the happy faces of the guests, everything is probably delicious. Despite the fact that every seat was occupied and the crowd was large, the service was very friendly and competent. Great, keep it up!!!

Once again simply great. As with previous visits, I was very satisfied. The Cordon Bleu is served with small potatoes in a separate bowl, cranberries and a fresh, crisp salad in advance. You simply can't go wrong at Das Walz. The service was friendly, quick but never hectic. This is how eating is fun. The Pinot Noir was also fine, nice bouquet. I can definitely recommend the restaurant “Das Walz”. (3-4 euros more than the Pizzeria Bottega across the street, but much better)

Einmal mehr einfach Klasse. Wie bei früheren Besuchen schon, war ich sehr zufrieden. Das Cordon Bleu serviert mit kleinen Kartoffeln im separaten Schälchen, dazu Preiselbeeren und im Voraus ein frischer, knackiger Salat. Im Das Walz kann man einfach nichts falsch machen. Der Service, freundlich, flott unterwegs aber nie hektisch. So macht Essen Spass. Der Spätburgunder war ebenfalls fein, schönes Bouquet. Das Restaurant "Das Walz" kann ich definitiv empfehlen. (3-4 Euros mehr als die Pizzeria Bottega schräg gegenüber, jedoch um Längen besser)

Eine grosse Auswahl an verschiedensten Speisen wird auf einer grossen Tafel gezeigt. Uns wurde ein Teller Penne mit Gorgonzolasauce und ein Salatteller empfohlen, alles war sehr gut und reichhaltig. Der Rotwein aus der Gegend war sehr bekömmlich. Der Service war ausgezeichnet. 5 Stern sind angebracht, das Restaurant ist sehr empfehlenswert. Gerne wieder.

Zünftiges cafè & restaurant. Heimelig & gemütlich. Die grosse Auswahl an verschiedensten Speisen wird auf einer grossen Tafel gezeigt. Von Wild & Fleisch & Fisch insgesamt für alle was dabei. Hatte Wildschnitzel, mit Spätzle und vorab eine Kürbissuppe. Alles sehr lecker und reichhaltig. Für den 5 Stern 🌟 fehlt dennoch das gewisse Etwas. Auf jeden Fall aber empfehlenswert. Gerne wieder.

Wir waren mit unserer Ehrenabteilung der Feuerwehr Freiburg hier zu einem Zwischenstop und haben uns verwöhnen lassen mit hervorragenden Kuchen und einem guten Kaffee. Services war sehr gut und freundlich und alle waren sehr zufrieden!

Wie waren als Gruppe (16 Pers) dort. Alle waren vom Essen begeistert und auch vom freundlichen und raschen Personal.

Super schönes Café und Restaurant. Ganz riesige Kuchen/ Tortenauswahl. Super freundliche Mitarbeiter. Riesige Stücke.

Wir kamen auf Empfehlung und unser Fazit ist ganz klar: Ein sehr schönes Café mit wunderbaren Kuchen und Torten. Bei unserem Besuch war das Café fast voll, dennoch hatten wir genug Platz und fühlten uns nicht beengt. Die nette Bedienung nahm so gleich unsere Bestellung auf und nur kurze Zeit später konnten wir schon unseren Kaffee und die Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte genießen. Wir kommen wieder.

Sehr leckere Kuchen & Torten! Da es dort so lecker und daher meist sehr voll ist hat der Service natürlich gut zu tun. Das bedeutet leider auch, das man ab und an etwas Geduld braucht,bis man am Tisch bedient wird. Die süßen Sünden gleichen das Warten aber aus! ;-)

Wir waren zum typischen Kaffee und Kuchen dort. Unsere Kuchen waren alle sehr lecker. Service war schnell, zu uns freundlich und auch zu unserer kleinen Tochter. Es gab eine große Portion Milchschaum. Ambiente war von den Räumlichkeiten schön. Aber die "Rentner"/ Besucher sind etwas unentspannt. Es war viel los, keine Plätze frei, da wurde dann schon mal penetrant neben einem Tisch gestanden, ob denn bald mal bezahlt wird.. und es gab in dieser Zeit einige kleine Diskussionen. Ich wünsche diesen Herrschaften mal einen koffeinfreien Kaffee, vielleicht sind sie dann etwas ruhiger.

Wenn ich 10 Sterne geben könnte würde ich es machen. Das Essen war ein Gedicht. Das Personal war super freundlich. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.
