Ambience: Chic, tasteful, inviting, white tablecloths Hostess: Elegant and charming Service: Super friendly Food: It was cold outside (late October) - so the chestnut soup with rosemary oil and pear was just the right start. The wild-caught cod was cooked to perfection, glazed on a delicious saffron beurre blanc with citrus fruits and garnished with Romanesco – fantastic. The super friendly waitress recommended a lovely French red to accompany the juicy guinea fowl breast with winter truffle, and we also had a Banyuls to accompany the delicious fig dessert. We're already looking forward to our next visit to this gem in beautiful Erfurt, where someone is obviously behind the stove who can cook at least as well as his wife looks – and that's saying something.

I'm a little disappointed. We had the three-course menu for 59 euros. It was delicious, no question, but in my opinion, it wasn't worth 59 euros. We had two different main courses and desserts, only the soup was the same. This way, I was able to try a total of five dishes. Other restaurants offer comparable quality for significantly less. The main course would have been worth 25 euros to me. The soup and dessert each cost 10 euros. That makes 45 euros, not 59 euros. I'm sorry. The service was very good and the ambiance was beautiful.

Rating applies to the a la carte menu: Main courses are served without any side dishes, forcing you to choose starters that are served together and don't really complement each other. This makes prices high, which is a shame, as the chef and service are good. Overall, a star rating isn't appropriate. Unfortunately, we don't recommend it; we definitely won't be back!

Ambience: So-so. We found it strange that, given the standards and prices, there's no light at the table to see the served food. Food: In our opinion, neither the presentation nor the taste and ingredients of the dishes justify the prices. The soup and dessert from the health menu were tasty. The rice dish was oversalted; you had to imagine the advertised peach with it. Despite the truffle, the pasta dish was absolutely tasteless. The eggplant wasn't cooked all the way through, but there were plenty of burnt rosemary leaves on it – the lack of light meant there was no chance to brush them off the eggplant… At least the bread, dips, and wine were very good. Unfortunately, we can't recommend this dish.

The Ballenberger is a small oasis in the heart of Erfurt, near the Krämerbrücke bridge. You immediately feel at home here. The staff is very friendly, and the food is delicious. What more could you want?

We discovered it by chance. We got two seats just before closing time and were completely thrilled. Delicious food, beautifully presented, local drinks, and a very attentive and experienced restaurant owner. We'll see you again on our next visit to Erfurt.

You immediately notice the attention to quality and detail. ✨ The culinary experience was a true highlight: From the lovingly prepared appetizers to the fresh bread with homemade spreads to the main course – everything tasted of the highest standard. I was very lucky that my friend reserved a table for us here for a lovely evening for two. And that's exactly what we achieved thanks to the great cuisine and above-average service. Jerusalem artichoke and citrus sounds like a strange mixture - but they were combined quite successfully here. Thanks to the very attentive but unobtrusive hospitality with good advice, we were both simply happy. The price/performance ratio is unbeatable. I can only recommend it and we look forward to seeing you again!

Nice ambience, tasty food, but the combination of starter and main course was a bit too “green” (shrimp in the starter and black-feathered chicken in the main course were not the focus). The quality of the primarily offered local winery is not convincing. Demanding 3.50 euros for additional white bread ordered is rather petty.

Absolutely fantastic food, every single component was great, and together they were perfectly coordinated. You can put together your menu as you wish. Of course it's not cheap, but the quality justifies it.

A very good restaurant. The atmosphere is very cozy and the staff is very friendly and attentive. The toilets very clean. Everything is very consistent. We would love to come back! For parents of small children who want to have lunch there. Around the corner is a beautiful, new children's playground with swings and slides.

We were there for lunch and had the dinner menu. Very attentive service and overall good value for money. The chefs are very creative. The beetroot soup, the duck breast, and the Iberico pork were all absolutely top-notch and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The wine pairing is highly recommended.

The ambience was very pleasant. The staff was friendly. The food didn't impress us. For example, the radish with mozzarella and black garlic appetizer was pretty to look at. The garlic was applied in homeopathic blobs, and so the already lightly seasoned dish didn't convince us. The pork dish unfortunately continued this trend. The broccoli was good. The meat looked pink, but was very tough. The sauce was well-seasoned and tasty. Upon request, it was served later. Both we and our companion were disappointed with the menu. The wine pairing was exceptionally good and delicious.

It's a "menu restaurant" that's slightly cheaper than alternatives, but also slightly...cheaper. There are little things - ugly refrigerator in the first room, one of four dessert spoons was different from the other three, lemonade was so sweet that even the children weren't convinced, while eating, an employee walked through the hall with some boxes... I would say that if it was such a super-special, unique event that should leave unforgettable memories - I would probably spend another 20 EUR per person and go somewhere else. Otherwise a very good restaurant.

We went to New Year's Eve breakfast on December 31, 2024 and really enjoyed the start of the last day of the year. In addition to the very good food and the beautifully decorated table, we were completely pampered by the very nice service. We'll definitely be back.

Food, drinks and service top. My wife and I chose the 5-course menu on New Year's Eve with wine accompaniment for €159/person. Unfortunately, I wasn't full and my wife was barely full. It was our third visit to Ballenberger overall. We don't know yet whether we will visit the restaurant again in the future...

The restaurant impresses with excellent food that is not only a delight in terms of taste but also visually. The dessert in particular is a highlight for me every time. The service is friendly and courteous, even if the boss leaves a somewhat snippy impression. A big plus: Even though we were there after 2 p.m., we were still offered the discounted lunch menu - a really nice gesture. I also find it particularly interesting that the toilets are also available to non-guests for a small fee of €0.50. The ambience also contributes to the positive experience - stylish and cozy. All in all, a clear recommendation, especially for lovers of good desserts and a nice ambience!

Auch wenn ich grundsätzlich Restaurants bevorzuge, die keine allzu umfangreichen Speisekarten haben, war hier die Auswahl abends doch allzu eingeschränkt. Die Teller sahen ansprechend aus, das Essen erfüllte meine Erwartungen aber leider nicht. Die einzelnen Geschmäcker waren zu wenig herausgearbeitet und etwas mehr Würze wäre begrüssenswert gewesen. Bedient wurden wir freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis passt nicht (mehr) …38 € für nicht mal 100 Gramm Rinderfilet,lauwarmes Essen ,keine vorgewärmten Teller ,also für ein Restaurant im Michelin Guide! unterirdisch. Auf Anfrage ob alles gut ist ,sagte ich das das Essen nur lauwarm ist -Antwort:ich gebe es der Küche weiter ! Finde den Fehler !!!! Service war ok ,aber auch nur ok ,in dieser Preisklasse erwarte ich etwas mehr Fachkompetenz . Dazu war das Essen auch kein Highlight -sehr fade und ohne jede Würze ! Wir werden dort nicht noch einmal hingehen …

Leider war der Seibling nicht durchgegart. Nach der Rückgabe kam ein wesentlich kleineres Stück. Das Personal ist nicht vom Fach. Leider hat die Qualität sehr nachgelassen. Bei einem Besuch vor drei Jahren war es noch hochwertiger.

Some dishes were lukewarm. No greeting from the kitchen, service staff were sometimes difficult to understand, little advice on wine. Despite reserving well in advance, the seat was not very comfortable and was cramped. The selection of vegetarian dishes and the availability of very good non-alcoholic Seccos from the Geiger factory were pleasing.

You were our first choice that day and, like on our previous visits, we chose a menu. It was delicious from the appetizer to the wine selection. Very good food, unfortunately it was very loud, the old walls have no silencers (tapestries, carpets, etc.), very nice service, quick preparation of the food, recommended!

Unfortunately, the quality of the food did not meet expectations and the price level. Some of it wasn't prepared well - there was leftover intestines in the prawns, the complaint was only noted but not commented on. At this price you can eat much better and more creatively in Erfurt.

Unfortunately disappointment... across the board... It was our first date!! But definitely the last one in this location… I just wanted a nice bottle of dry Chardonnay!!! Unfortunately impossible in this shop :( after starting 2 bottles... the lady offered it for us!! (which didn't taste good at all) Come with a bottle of white burgundy. Which she didn't open in front of us at the table!! She pretended to open it fresh!!!! The wine... was disgusting! Taste... O... stale, sour and cheap :( food came after 10 minutes .. My duck breast tasted like liver .. very tasty .. and when you chewed it didn't get any rounder :( If I had used normal white ones, I would have started and sorted everything out on the spot!! But my date partner... told me not to... I would 1000% never go back there!! And I don't recommend it to anyone... unfortunately I don't know what they paid... it's also supposed to be a star restaurant 🤨 the prices are very high...

We “accidentally” ended up in “Das Ballenberger” for a wonderful evening meal while we were passing through. It was an exquisite 4 course menu with wine accompaniment. Perfect match between wine and food. Loving service. Cozy atmosphere... We would love to come back. Thank you very much :)
