The Ballenberger is a very fashionable restaurant that definitely invites you to stay with its ambience. My wife and I stopped in in the evening and were thrilled with both the food and the service. Our waiter accompanied us throughout the evening and was knowledgeable about both the wines and the food served, giving us an evening with potential to be repeated. We decided to pamper ourselves again for breakfast the following day but were a bit shocked... The service in the morning left a lot to be desired and queries about advertised dishes were answered sloppily. We therefore only recommend it for dinner

A wonderful breakfast in a feel-good place that makes you look forward to your next gourmet visit; also because of the great staff in the kitchen and service.

Were a little disappointed. In 2022 the quality was better and the price was more reasonable. Everything tasted good but there was nothing special.

We came here for dinner to celebrate passing an exam and were unfortunately disappointed. The service was nice and attentive, but couldn't give good advice or explain what was on the plate. The food itself was mixed. Unfortunately, the two starters didn't convince us, nor did the intermediate course, but the main courses were good, but didn't particularly stand out from other restaurants. We expected much more for the prices and the reputation this restaurant enjoys.

The waitress ( I think she was the manager) was very friendly. So friendly that when I asked for a glass of wine she asked if I wanted her to pour more. What an innocent fool was I! She did this again with my second glass and I ended up being charged for 4 glasses of wine! The food here is good and the ambience pleasant, though it was pretty empty on a Monday evening. Outside restaurants were crowded. Expensive

We ate "sea bass fillet with cannelini beans" etc. The sea bass fillet itself tasted very good, but we would have liked a side salad for the price. So the portion was very manageable. Price/performance ratio doesn't match.

Grundsätzlich war es sehr gut, das Essen lecker, der Service sehr zuvorkommend, das Ambiente sehr ansprechend: insgesamt ein schöner Abend. Aber es gibt einen faden Beigeschmack: für das 4 Gänge-Menü zu zweit + 2x Aperitif, 1 kleines Bier, 1x 0,1 Weißwein, 2x Dessertwein läßt man einfach mal 200€ liegen. Das ist dann doch nicht zum rechtfertigen. Schade.

Fine dining in the heart of Erfurt in a relaxed atmosphere!

First class service. Super tasty menu combinations.

First of all: the interior design style is great. The chairs are comfortable, the table is elaborate and beautifully set. You feel good. However, not really when it comes to service, you are rushed through (the guests at the next table were told by the service "I don't really have time, I'll explain it to you anyway"). Service was far too rough for me, questions about wines couldn't be answered at all because there was obviously a lack of specialist knowledge (for one wine the answer was "yes, it's a summery wine" three times, but that wasn't the point of my question). Wine is poured and before you can even begin to ask a question, the waitress runs away (although the restaurant wasn't so full that this would be justified). Warmth is completely missing here, you have to fight for a smile. The food was good in 2/4 courses. One of them very good. The rest promised a little too much on the menu which cannot be kept. It's not quite fine dining (in modern terms it certainly isn't) and things like "tortilla" are just hard and barely edible. Completely cold and topped with egg salad which was good but no more. The bread at the beginning also deserved more appreciation. Ordinary (even if homemade) baguette that lacks aroma and good texture. We had a lovely evening, the wines were delicious. We wouldn't come back for the rest.

A very cozy little restaurant. Everyone was friendly and the food was delicious. Unfortunately, when sitting outside the bad smell from the drains was unappetizing. But the restaurant can't do anything about it.

A very small and fine restaurant. Great employees, great service and super friendly. Even got an extra portion of meat for dessert ;-) My dog ​​was also allowed to come along and we had a wonderful place by the window. If you like something extra beautiful and super tasty, you've come to the right place! By the way, I had beef fillet...it was great!!!

Everything fits here. I can reserve electronically and receive a confirmation. This should work everywhere in 2023. The prices match the food. You feel comfortable and the service is good. The food tastes good and is well prepared. Update During yesterday's visit I was able to check my 5-star rating again and now give it 6 out of 5 stars. The 3-course menu was very good from start to finish. Steak with asparagus were great. The asparagus was on point. The drinks advice was good and the service was friendly. Up soon.

Sorry, I really wasn't impressed. The soup was almost cold and for 12€. The main course (fish) was bland.

We ate at Ballenberger in January. They both chose the evening menu with wine accompaniment. Food and wine were top. The whole evening was very nice. Unfortunately, we realized afterwards that we were a bit lacking in explanation about the wine and the accompanying dish. An explanation as to why this particular wine was chosen for the course would have made the evening perfect 😀

We went to Ballenberger for the first time on the occasion of our wedding anniversary. It was a completely successful overall package. We felt at home straight away, the service was very attentive, quick and friendly. We had the 5 course menu. Every course was excellent and perfectly coordinated. We'd love to come back.

We all had expectations, especially since this restaurant was mentioned to us as the best in Erfurt. You could look at the different dinners online and we chose the 5-course dinner with and without alcoholic drinks. Furthermore, we assumed the prices stated there. Accordingly, we were all surprised that we were well above these prices. There should have been a note here that a drink is included in the price or has to be paid for additionally... due to the fact that the restaurant was very full, there was little communication with the staff. The conclusion: really ask everything before you eat or drink it. I have to say that everyone really enjoyed the food, but not the drinks on offer

Was here for “breakfast de luxe” for 2 people. The €54 was worth every cent! Staff, relaxed + friendly! There is still some room for improvement in the premises. Thank you, I'd love to come back!

Dear Ballenberger team, Thank you very much for the great lunch on February 2nd, 2024. Various requests were discussed in advance, such as expanding the lunch option to a 4-course menu. We weren't disappointed. The courses were all very tasty, well prepared and the portions were more than generous. We can say that the service was very attentive and relaxed. The restaurant in general was very attractively decorated. Our highlight was the picture with the goose. We would come back at any time to dine at Ballenberger. When visiting Erfurt, a meal at Ballnberger is a must. The breakfast is also great!

The Ballenberger WAS always something special for us. We were here for breakfast today for my daughter's birthday. Sadly I have to say. The ambience is still good. The food is delicious...BUT! I can understand that it has become more expensive here too. However, it does not mean that significantly less is offered when the price is increased. We always have the gourmet breakfast because everything used to be right here. 😞 Significantly less cheese and only one type, less sausage, although it tastes great, counted baquette slices that were relatively firm, the scrambled eggs were about half less than on previous visits, and no longer with a conscience. No more fruit or greens, for 4 people there were 2 tiny bowls of jam that you would otherwise get for 2 people. We thought that was a shame and told the lady who served us this. Her answer: I can't change it, that's just the way it is. You also had no chance of getting more than one drink. It wasn't crowded and she walked past our table several times. Even when we asked her to come over because we wanted drinks, she stood at the front and chatted. Sorry, I understand a lot, but if I pay over €90 for a breakfast, everything SHOULD be fine. This was definitely not the case. We don't come to Ballenberger anymore. Here the guest is no longer pampered and his opinion is not important.

Highly recommended for a special evening!

We got a voucher in December for 5 courses. Now in January we went out to eat... without prior communication from the waitress we received a bill of almost €40 more > because of a price increase. I can partly understand it, but I would have liked to have been informed beforehand. Ambience is nice. The food was visually well presented but the taste wasn't quite ours. Course 2 = Shrimp Course 3 = Fish That was too "fishy" for us... Furthermore, one of two beef fillets was very difficult to chew. Price performance unfortunately failed.

das essen war der kracher. pasta und rinderfilet...wow! gut wäre, 2-3 weine zur auswahl mit entsprechenden informationen anzubieten. einen abzug in der b-note gibts für die fehlende karte auf englisch. etwas problematisch für einen unserer begleiter. ich denke in einer touristenstadt darf man das erwarten und übersetzungsprogramme gibt es reichlich ;-) danke für den genußvollen abend.

Zu Recht kein Stern mehr an der Krämerbrücke! Die Küche im Ballenberger ist sensationell, ein kluges Menü was zur Jahreszeit passt. Die Qualität der Speisen ist auf einem hohen Niveau und kann durchaus mit einer Sternegastronomie mithalten. Der Service war sehr freundlich und offen, was den Abend rund machte. Wir hätten uns gerne dennoch mehr Erklärungen zu den einzelnen Gängen UND vorallem zu der Weinbegleitung gewünscht. Die Begleitung war keinesfalls schlecht, jedoch muss man wenn man sowas anbietet, mit Fachwissen glänzen. Ein gelungener Abend!

Talk about poor customer service on the phone for a Michelin star restaurant and das Ballenberger takes the cake. I called to make a reservation and asked the lady if she was open on 31.10 which is a public holiday but i just wanted to ask. She just said no and hung up thinking it was a mistake I called again to ask if they had place on a weekday to which she said no and hung up. Do you not want to do business?

Wir haben das Frühstück genossen, welches vom Preis-Leistungsverhälnis wirklich zu empfehlen ist. Die Produkte haben eine ausgezeichnete Qualität; vor allem das Birchermüsli ist für Fans davon ein Muss.

Wurde zum Geburtstagsessen hier eingeladen. Ein Erlebnis von Fine-Dining ohne das Gefühl zu haben in einem Chichi-Lokal zu sein. Ehrliche gehobene Küche in der die Produkte im Vordergrund stehen. Die Weinauswahl zur Begleitung einfach sehr gut getroffen. Wer mal das Besondere genießen möchte ist hier absolut richtig. Der Service macht einfach Spaß. Solche Abende sind Highlights an die man gerne denkt. Danke dem Ballenberger Team für einen wunderbaren Geburtstagsabend. 🤗🤗🌈

Sehr individuelles Restaurant mit besonderer Auswahl. Hat lecker geschmeckt.

Sehr schönes Lokal hinter der Krämerbrücke, also angenehm ruhig und doch im Zentrum. Freundlicher Service und leckere Gerichte, frisch zubereitet. Ganz besonders schön empfand ich die Möglichkeit schon ab zwölf Uhr von der gesamten Karte auswählen zu können. Die Preise sind relativ hoch, aber der Leistung und Qualität angemessen mit Ausnahme der Nachspeise: eine Kugel Sorbet mit "Beilage" für 12 Euro, ist zu viel.

Wir sind begeistert...eine entspannte Atmosphäre, eine wahnsinnig freundliche und zuvorkommende Gastgeberin und das Essen war wirklich top. Von uns eine absolute Empfehlung!

Wer einmal dieses ganz besondere Restaurant besucht hat, kommt immer wieder gern hier her. Es ist in unserer schönen Stadt ein ganz besonderes Highlight ...

Liebevolle und engagierte Sterneküche auf sehr hohem und abwechslungsreichem Niveau. Das Essen ist in jeder Hinsicht hervorragend, der Service professionell und freundlich zugewandt. Überrascht hat uns das vielfältige Angebot sehr guter alkoholfreier Weine. Wir haben den Abend mit großem Vergnügen genossen und kommen sehr gerne wieder. Ein ganz klein wenig stört die aufdringliche Reservierungs App mit Bestätigungsmail, Erinnerungsnachricht, diversen Storno-Hinweisen und Bewertungsaufforderungen nach dem Besuch. Wahrscheinlich muss das heute so sein, Stornierungen ohne Absage gehören sich nicht und sind grob unfair gegenüber den Gastgebern. Dies ist nur ein kleiner Hinweis. Unser Gesamtfazit bleibt unverändert: Hervorragend!
