An all-around wonderful evening at Alfred's in Düsseldorf! We had the braised beef cheeks on potato and celery mash with fried spinach, simply divine! The meat was tender as butter, the mash creamy and perfectly seasoned, and the spinach added a delicate, fresh note. Just right for this time of year, a wonderfully warming, aromatic dish. The service was also warm and attentive, and the ambiance cozy and stylish. A true highlight in Düsseldorf! We'll definitely be back! 👏🍷

Breakfast at Alfred's was satisfactory, with a few minor drawbacks. The food was very tasty, beautifully presented, and flavorful. The prices were rather high, with a breakfast dish costing the same as dinner at €15-20. It was quite noisy, with lots of small children and furniture moving around contributing to the noise. Overall, we left satisfied.

Quite a nice place to linger. We ordered a beer after waiting almost 20 minutes for service. The beer arrived...in a bottle...glasses were missing. They arrived 10 minutes later. So, if it's busy, please plan on waiting.

It's really nice here, and conveniently located right next to the park. It's a great place to stop for a non-alcoholic aperitif, which I think is wonderful.

We ordered two dishes, a bottle of wine and a bottle of water. One dish arrived incorrectly. We were assured that the correct dish would arrive immediately, but unfortunately it never arrived. One dish was eaten, the wine, and the water were empty. We then asked for the bill and were accused of having two dishes in the kitchen because of us. We hadn't ordered one and the other never arrived (30 minutes). When I noticed this, we were told that we must have had the wrong sense of time. It's a shame; it's a lovely location and we loved going there, but this was really outrageous.

The restaurant in Düsseldorf's Zoopark initially impresses with its location. The park has historical significance, having been destroyed in World War II. Today, it offers a tranquil, green setting with a beautiful view – a clear plus for the ambiance. The menu initially appears interesting but quickly loses depth. Truffle fries, the only creative addition, aren't enough to raise the culinary standard. The vegan selection is limited to a single dish, which is out of step with today's dining scene. Overall, vegetables are too limited. The risotto I ordered was decent in taste, but too heavy. A little freshness, such as arugula, would have balanced the dish better. The service was disappointing. The waitress mixed up my drink and seemed overwhelmed and unsure throughout. The way she handled the mistake was clumsy, and a professional demeanor was completely lacking. I felt rather sorry for the waitress and therefore tipped anyway. The entire experience was hectic and lacking structure. The verdict in terms of value for money is clearly negative. The dish in the photo cost 15 euros, but neither the taste nor the presentation justified the price. It lacked refinement and care, both in the food and the service. Conclusion: The location is great, but the rest isn't. The food and service fall well short of expectations. Those who only value the atmosphere might be satisfied here. Those who expect good food and professional service for their money probably won't. In its current form, it's not recommended.

We really enjoy Alfred's. The indoor and outdoor areas are cozy and inviting. The food is high-quality and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, the service leaves a lot to be desired. We've become accustomed to the fact that it usually takes a long time to place our initial and subsequent orders, and that we often end up sitting with empty glasses for a long time. On my last visit, it took a full 40 minutes before I could order! This business could be run much better and be more revenue-oriented. We'll continue to come here anyway, because everything else is just perfect.

Even when the weather is bad, you can sit comfortably inside and enjoy the delicious food.

I have to say, every dish I've had so far has absolutely blown me away. Especially for lunch, you can find something truly delicious here for a reasonable price. So, you can easily overlook the somewhat slow (albeit very friendly) service. Whether you find a seat at a table is a matter of luck. My coffee specialties have always been made with milk substitutes (I suspect oat milk) – quite a statement. The location near the Zoopark is, of course, fantastic! I'll definitely be back many times!

We were there with a small group during the week and had reserved a table. Part of our group (4 people) were able to order around 7:00 p.m., but some had to wait a very long time (about an hour) for the food. When two more people arrived around 7:15 p.m., they were told that no new orders could be taken because the "chef was overworked." We were very unpleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, the staff did not handle this very unusual message well with hungry guests who had made reservations... The kitchen wouldn't have closed until 9:00 p.m. Orders could be taken again around 8:30 p.m. The evening suffered greatly as a result. I certainly won't be coming back.

I don't know what happened, but since last year your quality and professionalism have dropped significantly. Unfortunately my matcha tasted bad. Unfortunately, the new waiter doesn't know anything about the menu or etiquette. In addition, the music was much too loud and the boss was in a bad mood (including towards us). Even after asking twice, we still waited 20 minutes for the bill. I'll think twice about visiting you this year.

I think €18 is really steep for a few lettuce leaves with 5 pieces of chicken. Don't know if that's how it was supposed to be or if the kitchen made a mistake and forgot half the contents, but the Caesar salad was really just a few roughly chopped lettuce leaves with a bit of chicken + sauce and Parmesan cheese. At least it tasted good. Unfortunately I checked it too late and really briefly considered whether I should return it. Ambience and service is nice.

The ambience was okay, but due to the location in the zoo park it was quite crowded and busy - so there was a lot of audience. Overall, a successful visit, I would love to come back!

I have already eaten at “das Alfreds” twice. We really enjoyed it. The dishes were absolutely delicious. The ambience is also really nice and inviting. Staff very nice and accommodating. We will come more often in the future. Only recommended!

Delicious cappuccino and matcha latte (as well as other drinks) at the window for the walk through the zoo park. Great with a stroller as you don't have to go in. It goes quickly and, like everywhere else in Düsseldorf, the price is rather upscale. However, one or two gentlemen behind the window and the counter might be a little friendlier. 😉 I think it's great that there's a very exciting selection for breakfast, from "fancy" avocado bread to "classic" selections - so everyone will be happy, regardless of whether they're young or old.

Super cute! Alfred's fits perfectly into the zoo park, it is a completely successful concept. The furnishings are very modern, the coffee specialties are of high quality and attention is paid to sustainability (glass drinking straws). There is a very extensive selection of food and drinks. I'm very happy that we have such a beautiful establishment nearby! Some of the photos of the dishes are out of date because the menu changes frequently.

We were here again today to have breakfast. The service was very nice but the food took probably 40 minutes to arrive, which is clearly too long. Add to that the fact that we had Egg Benedict for 15.90!! paid extra for the avocado, even though it was actually included. That came to almost 19.00 euros for two slices of bread that were way too thick (more than 5cm) with lots of lettuce and a single egg. The egg was also almost hard boiled. The price-performance ratio is absolutely not right here.

I would prefer to give 0 stars. Today my mother ordered a hot drink to take away from the to-go window. After she placed her order in a friendly, good-humored manner, the employee at the window made fun of her at her expense. He had probably expected an effusive welcome and had to make this known to all his employees. I think that's not how you treat your counterpart. If you want something different, you could solve it differently and not expose them.

The breakfast is delicious. I have been there three times and the dinner is also okay. Lunch is really not good, there is very little variety. The Vegan bowl I ordered was very cold. It should have been taken out of the refrigerator and had no flavor.

We have been to Alfreds several times and can (almost) only have positive things to say. The food is always delicious, we especially like the breakfast. The service is very accommodating. Unfortunately - this is the only point of criticism - the background noise is extremely loud, so you quickly feel uncomfortable when all the tables are occupied.

For me, Das Alfreds is one of my favorite places in Düsseldorf since it has a very good variety of food, be it breakfasts, lunches and various appetizers, etc. Das Alfreds is one of the best cafes I visit because of the kindness and professionalism of its employees. The best Baristas are in Das Alfreds since the temperature of the (coffee) cappuccino, Cortado, etc. is perfect which makes it something very special. Note: Something I really like is cappuccino combined with carrot cake...😋 Thank you very much to the entire Das Alfreds Team of workers, very grateful for the humble treatment of all their clients. Alfreds, our regular restaurant in our neighborhood, whether for a café while taking a walk, breakfast, lunch or dinner. We love it. We had a delicious meal, risotto with beetroot and boiled beef, followed by apple crumble cake with cream and 2 cappuccinos - we were able to "take part" in the photos that were taken for the new dishes in the 2025 menu - very nice atmosphere, with friendly, nice employees.

Okay, I can't say more. This review is based on my personal opinion. Today I was there for the first time. I think for the last time too. The conditions were friendly and the atmosphere was quite nice. There was little going on. In other words, few guests. Unusual for a Sunday. But good. Nevertheless, we were seated right next to other people, even though everything was actually free. Of course you have to occupy the seats by the window so that it looks crowded from outside. Old trick. The selection is fine. There is also something for vegetarians. The food looked delicious and tasted good too. Everything was hidden under lots of sprouts and mayo. The “everything” wasn’t the world either. Unfortunately I have to say that the price/performance doesn't fit. For a slice of bread with some avocado and a mini fried egg, 15 euros is really quite an announcement. Of course everything has become more expensive and minimum wage and so on. But it ends somewhere. I go out to eat often. Definitely 3 times a week. But that's wild. Well, Alfred and I would rather go our separate ways.

Very cute cafe. It's a bit frightening to see the disabled toilet that closes automatically, but the service is absolutely top and you feel like you're in good hands as a customer. In any case, it's great that there is also a changing option for parents with babies and small children.

On Sunday we went to this café for the first time following a recommendation. The first impression was very nice and the four of us were able to get a table in the corner. Unfortunately, the service didn't come at first and our order was questioned several times. Apparently the apple cake was sold out, which is why we opted for the chocolate cake, which also came quite quickly. But the coffee was a long time coming and wasn't served until about 20 minutes later. Unfortunately, the chocolate cake tasted a bit sticky and had a sour aftertaste, as if it contained too much baking soda. On the way to the toilet, however, I discovered two whole apple pies in the display and was very sorry that we were denied this delicious pie. The rooms are attractively furnished, but the acoustics are very poor, which makes conversation difficult. Added to this is the still disorganized team of waitresses and baristas. A great idea and a beautiful location - but the processes urgently need optimization.

Although I had high expectations of this place, my experience was average. The food was decent, but it didn't quite meet my expectations. While the portion sizes were generous, I value quality over quantity. The menu primarily features German traditional food, but there were some international options like coconut curries. I suspect that brunch is their specialty, so I'm willing to give it another try. The interior was tasteful and neutral, and the location is perfect for grabbing a to-go drink and taking a stroll in the park.

Wanted a coffee to go. The service was hopelessly overwhelmed or understaffed. First we had to wait more than 20 minutes for a coffee (seriously for a to-go item) and then there were no more lids even though we were there at lunchtime. Why this upsets me: I had to resist a review weeks ago when the same thing happened because I thought it was an exception but then it took forever for to-go and then no lids a second time: that's a pattern. The boss should hire more people and keep enough caps because the waiting time and performance are poor for the price. The store lost a customer. 🤷🏻

The service was very bad, although it was friendly, I have never seen service staff pay so little attention to clearing empty plates and taking orders in a timely manner. There were plenty of service staff for the few tables; chatting with each other was probably more important. The kitchen closes at 2 p.m., I wanted to order a second portion at 1:45 p.m. to fill me up. Despite all the stares, waves and greetings from the staff, no one came to us until 2:03 p.m. We couldn't order food anymore - the kitchen was closed! At least the time is very precise. My complaint about this was commented on with a simple apology, but there was no kind of accommodation/compensation, so I am now writing the review. Consolation: The location is really nice right next to the park.

Nice spot right next to the park with a diverse menu. We came here for coffee and cake and were not disappointed. The coffee was very tasty, the cheesecake was good. Today I wanted to buy a coffee to go for a nice walk in the zoo park. Unfortunately, I had a negative experience at this cafe. At first it took a long time for them to "serve" us at the window for to-go drinks. Then I was allowed to shout (!) to the employee that I would like a latte macchiato with oat milk. After about 2 minutes I got the drink. To pay by card, I put my card on the reader. I couldn't see the display. Did it work? Apparently, because the gentleman immediately brought the device back to its original location and that was it. No “thank you” or “bye” or anything like that. He didn't even look at us anymore. Such behavior is impossible, no matter if you are stressed, because these words are the minimum. The “highlight” came when I tried the latte macchiato. He served it to me with cow's milk. Absolute no-go, because there are allergy sufferers like me who cannot tolerate cow's milk! What did I learn from this visit? 1. I no longer visit this café. 2. Always ask again whether it really is with oat drink (in other cafes it was always prepared correctly for me). P. S.: The walk was still nice! 🌞🌳

We like to go to Alfreds regularly, even for an Aperol in the evening 😉. For some time now, however, it has been noticeable that the pieces of cake are getting smaller and smaller. Today, however, the negative peak. The piece of frosted apple pie was less than twice the size of a matchbox! The price of €3.80 is totally excessive. Sorry, but that can also scare off coffee cake customers! 👎

Had the pulled beef burger with fries - tasty, but could do with some sauce and I find €1.50 for some mayonnaise really cheeky given the already high prices.
