Danzturm in Iserlohn

On November 15th, 2025, we held our traditional goose dinner for the first time in the panoramic restaurant with approximately 70 people. Not a single participant was dissatisfied! Many thanks to Dimi and his fantastic team.

Great atmosphere and good food. The restaurant could be a bit warmer at this time of year, though...

The food was perfect and the service was very good and friendly. Highly recommended. We spent a pleasant afternoon here after a wedding ceremony.

There are two vegan dishes available. Basmati rice with mushrooms served with young vegetables €17.90 Zucchini noodles with fresh mushrooms chili, carrot strips, and pine nuts €17.90 I'm glad these two dishes have been available for years. It would be nice if there were other vegan options soon.

Always a highlight – the food is delicious, the view is beautiful, and the staff is friendly 😍 I've had the shrimp and bruschetta countless times, always incredibly delicious. Today I had turkey medallions with Camembert, penne in a cheese sauce with cranberries – absolutely delicious 😋

Great shop, great food, great atmosphere, and attentive staff. I've been wanting to go there on weekends for months, but it's constantly closed to walk-in customers due to private parties. It's starting to get annoying, and we should consider whether the intensity is right. Eventually, no one will call if this continues. I think it's a shame, but it seems to be more profitable, and you have to accept business decisions, for better or for worse.

My absolute favorite restaurant!!! Unfortunately, the restaurant is currently closed on Saturdays. So I've had to find alternatives often.

It's regulars' table time. We've been to the Danzturm several times, so we stopped in again. As always, the service and food were excellent. The prices are also excellent these days. Hence only 4 points overall.

One of the highlights in Iserlohn. Simply a beautiful place. The restaurant is fantastic, and we're always very satisfied. The building itself (the Danzturm) is also very beautiful. The view from outside is simply wonderful. A fantastic location. We enjoy coming back here again and again.

Very tasty food and attentive service

The food is delicious. In good weather, there's also a magnificent view. You should definitely make a reservation; it's very difficult to do it on the spur of the moment, especially if you can't sit outside. This is definitely not a simple day-trip restaurant, but rather a very good restaurant with excursion and hiking options.

A very beautiful, well-preserved tower, I highly recommend cycling up here. Great view. Unfortunately, I can't say anything about the restaurant; it's not open yet, but it's a great location and the exterior is very well-maintained.

Of course, it wasn't the cheapest place. But everything was delicious, and the service and atmosphere were excellent.

I highly recommend the Danzturm Forsthaus Telegraf. We had a wedding there. The food was excellent, the staff super friendly, and the view magnificent. You could sit inside or outside. As a wedding guest, I obviously can't comment on the wait time, menu, or prices.

A beautiful restaurant with an excellent view of the Iserlohn mountains. Its telegraph tower makes it especially attractive. The food was very tasty, very German-style. If you're nearby, make a reservation.

Terrace with a beautiful view, delicious fresh tropical salad, and pasta with pork tenderloin. Fantastic! Friendly service. The tower is also worth climbing; from the top, you have an even wider view of the beautiful surroundings.

Unfortunately, Sunday, July 13, 2025 Steak OK, fish and salad KO. We invited our friends to the Danzturm with dinner afterward and reserved a table at the Forsthaus. The waitress was initially very friendly and took our orders courteously. The Mediterranean appetizer platter was very tasty and well presented. The main course, however, was a different story. The two steak dishes with fried potatoes were okay. The zander dish was unfortunately inedible, poorly presented, the fish 0.5 cm thick, overcooked to a bone dry, and the side dishes were also overcooked and drenched in sauce. After our friend politely complained about the plate and chose another alternative, we were not served. The alternative consisted of hollandaise sauce with pasta floating in it and two dry pieces of chicken. Unfortunately, they didn't ask if everything was okay or if we wanted something to drink. The server also didn't ask why the Mediterranean salad with tiger prawns wasn't eaten. Unfortunately, it consisted of half a can of corn, a dry, bitter coleslaw that didn't deserve the name, and six completely overcooked shrimp.

The Danzturm restaurant impresses with its exceptional location and impressive view – definitely a place with a panoramic effect. The food was delicious, perfectly presented, and attractively presented. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable visit. Conclusion: If you want to enjoy good food with a view, this is the place to be. A definite recommendation.

We reserved a table here and sat right by the panoramic window. The view is beautiful. The food was delicious, plentiful, and reasonably priced. The decor is invitingly beautiful, and the service was very friendly and attentive. We'd love to come back.

Great location with very tasty food.

We had lunch there on our day trip in August. The food was good, and the price was reasonable. The view from the terrace would have been nice, but it was obscured by the overgrown bushes.

Nice restaurant with delicious food. Friendly staff. From the terrace you have a nice view over the valley. Food is good and affordable. In the adjacent telegram tower you can learn something about the history, and from the top you have an even better view of the surroundings. There are beautiful hiking trails in the surrounding forest. Reservations are recommended.

Every Whit Monday morning from 7:30 a.m., there's live music, a morning pint, and grilled sausages. Beforehand, head to the Ballots Fountain for a drink of life-prolonging water.

We came by very spontaneously, without a reservation. That will be more convenient next time. When it got colder on the terrace, they still had a spot available inside. The beautiful view was occupied and that makes sense! We really enjoyed our meal, we were helped and served in a friendly manner. There were cheerful sounds coming from the kitchen, which together created a perfect atmosphere. A nice ending to a wonderful day out, thank you! Really recommended, we will definitely come back!!!

Definitely recommended, good service and no long waiting times despite the high number of visitors. The food was delicious and won't be our last visit.

This afternoon we spontaneously stopped for lunch on the terrace. Food was perfect and tasty. The service was generally friendly and accommodating. Except for a waiter who thought he had to make a joke with me, but I didn't understand it. The guests at the next table noticed this and then said it was a joke. Unfortunately, I didn't understand that at the moment and felt quite exposed in front of the others. I wanted to leave the place immediately, but we had already ordered food. So I was still exposed to the pitying looks of others. I felt terrible. We quickly finished our meal and left as soon as possible. I have nothing against jokes, but if you notice that the guest doesn't understand, you should at least apologize and explain. But unfortunately that didn't happen. For this reason I won't eat anything there anymore. The waiter didn't seem to care, he had his audience. It's a shame for such a nice restaurant with good food.

This evening we went to our old home and had dinner at the Danzturm. Very friendly, attentive and prompt service. The food was great, from fillet steak to crusts, fish to schnitzel.

At my birthday dinner I was able to get to know Essen Danzturm. We received a personal recommendation for the restaurant a year ago, but then lost sight of it. Being invited on your birthday couldn't have been better. Neither of us have had such a high-quality meal for years. I've eaten minced steak with feta a few times in different restaurants, but never before such a tasty and juicy piece. Great! In addition, the food was there quicker than we could see, we were asked about our well-being often, but not too often that it would become annoying, ... I could probably go on for pages about what else was great, but that still doesn't change the rating: it was simply perfect from start to finish! Thank you very much, our next visit is already planned. 😃

We haven't been there in a while and only now noticed the change of ownership. The location is simply fantastic in nice weather 👍, and the view is amazing. The ambiance and exterior appearance have not changed. The service was very friendly and attentive. Everything came promptly and quickly. The food is good and tasty. I would have liked a bit more flair in the dishes. They cut out the stems from the tomatoes; you wouldn't serve them that way to your guests. I also found one 🍅 that can only be quartered, which is a bit coarse and difficult to eat.... I couldn't find any salad dressing, which is a shame. Update Today, three of us spontaneously made another detour by bike. Today everything was perfect 😎😀 Everything was really delicious, and the salad came with dressing 👍

Unfortunately the restaurant was full, which in itself speaks for itself. :). But we were up on the tower in the great weather and enjoyed a great view in the great weather. When climbing you should take some time and read the great explanations on the walls.

It's been a long time since I was back at the Danzturm. The food was good, I ordered a rump steak medium and it was also medium, the French fries were also well prepared. All the other guests at the table were also impressed with their food. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. And the view, as always, wonderful.

We've been eating there for several years now. Not regularly, but every 2 - 3 months. In summer you can sit outside and enjoy the wonderful view. The food is really tasty and there is something on the menu for every taste. The staff is friendly and up for a joke or two. You can tell that they enjoy working there. I can only recommend everyone to eat there

Roast goose can be ordered in advance - a good idea if the goose meat is served as well cooked as it was to the three of us yesterday! Crispy, crispy skin, the meat on the leg fell tender and juicy from the bone, and the brisket was also great. The side dishes of red cabbage, potato dumplings and a baked apple were also very tasty. The whole thing was rounded off with extra sauce. We were all very excited!

Unfortunately the restaurant was closed, but the forest and the view are great.

The Danzturm above the Literaturhotel is considered the landmark of the city of Iserlohn in the middle of the city forest on the Fröndenberg. It is a former location of telegraph station No. 43 on the Berlin-Koblenz route from 1832 - 1849. The replica of the telegraph pole has been installed since 1996. The observation tower was inaugurated in 1909 and named after Prof. Dr. Danz, member of the "Iserlohn Beautification Association" and later founding member of the Sauerland Mountain Association in Iserlohn.

We were invited to a wedding and were totally impressed by the great view, the ambience in the guest rooms and the friendly staff. From our point of view, what was particularly worth highlighting was the food. No matter whether the meat, the side dishes, antipasti, dessert or the vegetarian variations, everything was cooked to perfection and tasted excellent. We will definitely come here again for dinner with friends. If there were more stars, you would have earned them.

We celebrated our wedding at the Danzturm. What Dimi and his team do and offer is unimaginable! The food/buffet was excellent and prepared with so much love and the service was always friendly and very attentive until late into the night. There is nothing to complain about. Dimi was always available for us during the preparations. Visited for the first time. The dish is the farmer's pan, except that the sauce could have been a bit creamier, we were extremely satisfied. The staff is very friendly and extremely attentive. Very clear recommendation, price performance is okay.

We celebrated a 60th birthday there with 70 guests. The team tastefully decorated the interior and we decorated the terrace ourselves. The many large parasols made it a cozy atmosphere. The view is great. What stands out, however, is the service and the food. We had a fixed price per person including all, absolutely all, drinks. The buffet was plentiful and tasted good. The service was great, quick, attentive and incredibly friendly. Mr. Moscholidis and his team ensured that it was an absolutely successful celebration. I can fully recommend the restaurant as a location for a larger celebration. Thanks to the Danzturm team!!!

Rarely have I been to such a good restaurant. Not only is the staff super friendly and attentive, the food is also super tasty and comes very quickly. The Iserlohn mustard soup is particularly recommended!

Excellent local and regional food plus the best of German food. We loved their outside patio with the beautiful views overlooking Iserlohn and the nearby Sauerland. The Danztower can be visited until late, too. Must see when you are in the area. Very good service.

A very nicely located restaurant with a terrace. Here I have a very nice view (also in the restaurant). The food is plentiful and tastes very good. I had veal liver with onions and mashed potatoes. The liver was tender and juicy. Delicious. Special requests were accepted and implemented. The staff is very friendly and attentive. It's worth a visit here. Be sure to reserve. It was very well attended for us. It is not wheelchair accessible, you have to climb stairs to get into the restaurant and there are stairs to climb in the restaurant.

As always, the meal was delicious 😋.
