Corfu Grill in Niederkassel

I have to say, I was truly shocked. It was my first time there since the change of ownership – and I've known this place for about 30 years. We used to go there a lot as teenagers, and even later on, I enjoyed eating there two or three times a year. But what I experienced the other day was unbelievable. I really felt like I was standing in the woods. The entire place reeked of grease – like a smoky pub used to, only instead of smoke, it smelled of old grease. The food? Awful. Completely inedible. The gyros was covered in this strange, greasy smell and tasted artificial – almost like plastic. I took one bite and threw the rest away immediately. I've never experienced anything like it. It's truly sad to see how a place can be run into the ground like this in such a short time.

The food is awful! The staff are nice, but they have no clue about the restaurant business!!!

We just had a delivery. As always, the food is excellent and plentiful. It couldn't be better. The delivery driver was incredibly nice and extremely punctual. We're already looking forward to our next orders.

We ordered from Lieferando and didn't get the pizza we ordered, and it tasted very bland. The gyro's tzatziki was very runny and the meat was extremely tough, and the salad was also completely dry and didn't seem fresh to me, just like the onions on the gyro. So, all in all, I wouldn't recommend it!

Nothing is the same anymore. The small gyro was more like a child's portion, and you practically had to search for the meat. The mayonnaise I ordered wasn't there, and when I asked for it, they squeezed some from a tube onto the plate, and most of it was oily because it was so hot. Then, to top it all off, my black hair was almost completely ruined... never again.

We were there today. When we walked in, we immediately felt like a block in the head; it was way too hot 🔥 Unbearable... I'd rather go outside. A lot of chaos and not the friendliest. It came across as if he wasn't in the mood. He kept asking what we wanted even though we were just looking because we'd just walked in...impossible. The price and portions didn't match up. The meat was half-cold, tasteless, and there was way too little on it. The fries were so-so. The mayonnaise wasn't included, so I had to remind him. Definitely not very friendly and definitely not recommended. He'll never see me again! Too bad, I always liked going there.

It's a shame that the Greeks have given up the restaurant after such a long time. I've been wondering for the past few weeks why there's nothing going on there anymore, and a few days ago I ordered something for the first time from the "new" owners, to pick up. The "Champion Rahm Schnitzel" wasn't bad (well, that's all). However, it was cut into small pieces to fit in the transport box. The sauce was topped with cheese, and I missed a real Champion Rahm sauce. The taste was okay, but just not what we're used to. The salad wasn't that fresh either. But the worst thing was that tiny gyro skewer (burnt on the bottom, raw on top) that couldn't have been fresh at 1:00 PM. Nothing against Iranians/Iraqis, but I'd rather go to a Greek or Italian restaurant!!

I should have read this here first... After a 75-minute wait and two phone calls: The cheese in the farmer's salad was bad. The Corfu Grill schnitzel looked very unappetizing. Never again!

Five years ago, I said this was the best place in the world... after the change of ownership, you can just throw us in the trash. Bring the old Corfu back!!!

Went there again today and ordered takeout (by phone in advance). The gyro was completely missing the tzatziki. Unfortunately, I only noticed it when I got home. The meat wasn't great either. But that's understandable when hardly anyone visits the snack bar and the meat is grilled to death. The shashlik sauce is also different these days than it was in the heyday of the previous owner. It tastes like cheap, canned food. The staff barely understands you. But the prices have gone up again. Currywurst with fries should be ordered separately; it costs less (and is a bit more in quantity) than currywurst with fries on a plate 🤪 That was it for us; the owner really does everything to ensure you don't become a repeat offender. 🙁

Unfortunately, the owner changed, and my second attempt was also more than disappointing. But the stomachache was free.😜

Unfortunately, it's no longer tasty. The gyros are lacking in seasoning, and the portions are really small. The tzatziki is bland, but the fries are tasty. Too bad, this was our third and last attempt after the change of ownership, and unfortunately, it's getting worse and worse.

After 18 years of enjoying Nico's, we're calling it quits. Third attempt, third failure. The gyro lacked flavor (how do you manage that?), was sticky, and relatively cold, the coleslaw was so-so, and the fries were actually tasty, but the portion was rather small, even meager for the price. For almost two decades (as long as I've known the place), the food was good, plentiful, and more than reasonably priced. Now there's nothing left of that. Too bad, the Corfu Grill is dead for us until further notice.

So, friends, an update on July 6, 2025. We ordered pita and gyros for delivery today... honestly, half of it was forgotten, and the gyro pita is one of the worst I've ever eaten. Tasteless, unloving, I doubt this will last much longer... I doubt it, given the quality offered here for the money... sorry, but it's the truth. So, friends... an update... There's been a change of ownership, which hasn't been good for the grill. The quality isn't comparable to the previous owner. The taste is much worse than before. What a shame....

Too bad, it's over. First time there since the change of ownership: the quality has dropped dramatically. The gyro is hard, dry, stringy, and tastes like nothing. The currywurst was pale, undercooked, and the curry sauce was watery. The fries were OK, but the mayonnaise was not. We threw the gyro and tzatziki in the trash (inedible). Never again!

We took two gyro plates with us today. We've never eaten such a bad, hard, lukewarm gyro. The fries were soggy and cold. The tzatziki, and everything else, was tasteless. It's a shame the old owner is no longer there. We highly discourage this place.

I wouldn't even subject my animals to that food. They demand full money but then don't deliver what was ordered. Cold pizza and gyros taste of nothing. Farmer's salad is served with tomatoes and cucumbers, without any dressing. The quality leaves a lot to be desired. They should be ashamed of themselves for charging money for that. They should get some cooking training, it can't be about money, they rip off customers enough.

Today, six of us ordered for a group of six. The ordering process alone was a real hassle, and we only wanted five complete gyros. The man on the phone barely understood me, and after repeating that we wanted five gyros three times, the order was finally completed. Well, when the food arrived, there was a surprise: the cucumber salad we wanted instead of regular salad didn't even arrive. A quick call, and the cucumber salads were on their way. Now for the gyros: cold, unsalted fries, unseasoned/dry gyro meat that couldn't have been any smaller, as there were so many fries under the meat that they could have simply left out the rest of the "meat." Tzatziki also tasted more like a sauce diluted with water. When the driver finally came to bring the ordered cucumber salads, he came back with three and didn't have any more. We weren't in the mood for further discussion, so we tried the cucumber salad. But it had gone bad and gone sour, so we threw it away completely. So, all in all... never again! Not recommended, and the taste was a disaster!

I got a gyro plate there a few weeks ago. Suddenly, everything tasted of nothing. Then, in the middle of the night, I had a rude awakening. Stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting. Later, I realized there was a new owner. The food bordered on dangerous bodily harm.

The food is edible. But there are better options in the surrounding area. Price/performance is okay...given the increased costs, you have to be understanding. Service was okay.

The schnitzel went back. Unfortunately, I won't go there again. We were the only ones there. The Kölsch beer was also much too warm. Perhaps a cooking school would help...

First time there today since the change of ownership. The gyro plate is literally like a kid's gyro plate. The meat really doesn't taste like anything. The portion is a joke for €13.50.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the previous reviewers. I've given the new owners a chance and ordered from them several times. Yesterday, unfortunately, was the lowest point. The portion of fries with the currywurst was ridiculously small. The sauce was watery. The prices, however, were very high. Disproportionate. Unfortunately, the Corfu Grill has transformed from a fast-food restaurant with a certain something into a generic chip shop that isn't even that good. There's still a lot of room for improvement! We'll leave it for now and look for an alternative.

Portions have become smaller. Food is good. Service is always friendly.

Eating takes a really long time, even though there are hardly any guests there and there are three people behind the counter. Meat totally dry. Canned salad. No no, not again.

New owner, ate gyros for the first time, never again. Poor quality and unfortunately that's how it tastes. The tzatziki and the coleslaw are discounter quality, I tried 3 pieces of the meat despite the smell and then chalked it all up as a bad experience. After faithfully getting my gyros from the Corfu Grill for over 20 years, I unfortunately won't be eating here anymore, plus these delivery fees... That's a bit bold, but that's okay.

About two weeks ago, we ordered two complete gyros. Since we had the food delivered, I can't comment on the atmosphere. The lady on the phone was nice, and so was the driver. But that was it. We've never had such a bad meal. A handful of cold fries, watery tzatziki, and the meat was almost unseasoned and lukewarm at best. There's definitely room for improvement. Apparently, I'm not alone in my opinion, judging by the other reviews. What a shame.

I tried it a second time yesterday after the change of ownership. The first time I thought it might be teething problems. Unfortunately the food was as bad as the first time. Then there won't be a third attempt, which is a shame

I was there again for a long time about two weeks ago and was surprised that the service was careless and the quality of the food was only mediocre. I knew it differently. Now that I know that the owner has changed and that others are no longer satisfied as a result, my bad experience becomes a shoe.

The successors try very hard to please everyone. Have, among other things, the schnitzel and the hamburger improved according to customer requirements. The staff overall is very nice. The dishes we have tried so far have been very tasty and the portions are large. Card payments also work without any problems. Gladly again.

Today as then, the best gyros and the nicest service. 10 stars from me

Well, unfortunately the gyros wasn't well seasoned and unfortunately the tzatziki wasn't either. Basically there wasn't enough sauce in the dishes. A pita usually looks different and doesn't look like a "doner kebab pocket". Unfortunately, the taste is quite minuscule!

We have been going to the Corfu Grill regularly. However, this was our last visit as the owner changed. Food is now poor, the bratwurst doesn't deserve the “brat” part of the name, it was more of a warm-up sausage! The owner is rude and comes across as very arrogant. The only downside was the young waitress, as she was very committed and friendly! Good luck, one less regular customer!

Ordered food from the Corfu Grill for the first time after the change. The meat was tough like leather and very fibrous - cruel! The sauce on the schnitzel - just soggy and the shish kebab is no longer the Börner either. The tzatziki and the salads are worlds apart from the previous owner. If you live in Niederkassel, the minimum order value of 25.00 euros is simply too overpriced.

The old owner was much better!!! I was supposed to eat some fries and some drunk insulted me and instead of helping me he just laughed and helped him, apart from that the fries were really bad compared to the (unfinished) pizza but they were good Still good luck, even if you should go to the Samos tavern 💪🏼

Very bad, you wait a long time for your food and it is also cold

It smells so bad that you wish it was corona again so you could have a mask with you. Gyros smell like stinky cheese and you feel like you're only being served rubbish. Before the change of ownership everything was better but what can you expect from a gyros shop owner from the Middle East. I would say the prices are really fair, which is what they were before the owner changed, but the €10 is not worth the stomach ache after eating. 1/5 stars (would give 0 if possible)

Unfortunately, since the change of ownership it has been a catastrophe, no more hygiene, no decency and no customer friendliness!!! You enter the store and it smells incredibly disgusting of sweat and no, not of sweat AND deodorant but really just disgusting that you want to go back out and your appetite goes away. We all understand that being in the kitchen is not an easy job and that deep fryers, grills and the like are hot. In this day and age, when you can buy deodorant for 50 cents in any discount store, I have NEVER experienced someone being so unkempt in the restaurant/snack area and the new owners don't even bother to ventilate, i.e. open the door briefly, turn on the extractor hood (nowadays they save on every cent in the store) and show a minimum level of hygiene. The service from the two gentlemen is also terrible, they don't speak/understand any German and you feel like you're in some kebab shop in Maharaja. You come in and are looked at grimly and not greeted, no smile, no good day. When ordering, there was no minimum level of service like "I'm happy, thank you, please". Catastrophe. Both were completely overwhelmed and discussed hectically in their own language and looked for parts. Then you order something and have to fight hard to get them to understand it. In the end you get the wrong dish, half of it is missing, everything tastes a lot like plastic these days, a small teaspoon of tzatziki is billed "conscientiously", while the previous owner sometimes simply gave you a small mixed salad with tzatziki. If at least the rest were correct: both the adults and the children felt sick after eating and vomited. Were here for the last time!!!

No longer recommended due to change of ownership. Meat thin, fatty and of poor quality. There is not enough exhaust air. Unpleasant smell.

Food OK, the pizza was OK. but nothing special. Gyros with fries were relatively small, the man at the counter seemed listless and unfriendly. Overall, the clothes smell like grease for days. Probably the extractor hood is off or on the lowest setting. Therefore “just” another store. Too bad

New owner, unfortunately not the same level as before. Very unfortunate. The food was ok, but it's not worth a detour.

We haven't lived nearby for a few years, but we still come here every few months because we always really like it. Today we wanted to eat shashlick again after a long time. We noticed that the owner had changed. The fries were good...the meat was a little tougher, the taste was good but not as good as the previous one. The sousse diluted a little. But it still tasted good...but it just lacked the old taste from the previous owner

Unfortunately the quality of the food has deteriorated. The skin of the currywurst was quite hard and had probably been on the aluminum foil for too long. The gyro was very blandly seasoned and you tasted more of the hollandaise sauce than the gyro, which was also partially burnt and hard. It's a shame that the former owner is no longer there.

I had food delivered...strangely, the 2 large portions came in a small bowl and the small portion came in a large bowl. It used to be the other way around ;) of course it was billed differently, paying €2.50 too much for cold gyros on top... It's a shame you wanted to try it out but it failed. Unfortunately you can't be reached via WhatsApp, the number on the flyer doesn't exist, otherwise I would have liked to try that way in advance.

Compared to the employees, the food looked really shit, but everything was good, it tasted the way it looked (please inform the health department about this store, thanks) so if I knew how to block places on Google Maps, this would be the first to be blocked. (unfortunately the blonde woman at the checkout spit in my food, next time please let the brown-haired woman do it.

Great food, mostly homemade. Breaded cutlet world class. The operators are always friendly and accommodating. The dishes are prepared quickly. There is also fresh Kölsch from the tap.

Wenn Gyros, dann hier. Man kann innen so wie außen seine Gerichte zu sich nehmen. Top Bedienung Etwas mehr als eine gewöhnliche Frittenbude. Hier steckt Herzblut und viel Liebe drinnen. Einmal probiert und ihr kommt immer wieder.

Habe hier abends Gyrosteller mit Pommes und Tzaziki zum Mitnehmen bestellt.Andere Speisen habe ich hier noch nicht gegessen.Habe Gyros "klein" geordert und war mehr als satt. Die Bedienung war freundlich und hat mich zügig bedient.Obwohl fast alle Tische besetzt waren, musste ich nicht lange auf die Fertigstellung meines Essens warten. Das Gyros war qualitativ sehr gut, der Preis für das Gebotene fair. Ich würde wiederkommen.

Mein neuer Favorit für Gyros in Niederkassel. Hier schmeckt das Fleisch sehr würzig und die selbstgemachten Salate sind klasse. Kann ich allen empfehlen, die eine Alternative zum Jonny Grill nach dem Inhaberwechsel suchen😀

Das beste Gyros! Die bereiten es dort selbst frisch zu, also nix von der Stange. Schönes zartes Fleisch, kaum Fett, auf den Punkt gegrillt. Die Atmosphäre ist gemütlich und das Personal sehr sehr freundlich! Wir sind 1-2x im Jahr in der Region und der Gedanke an das Lokal versüßt uns bereits die lange Anreise! Hoffentlich klappt es bald mal wieder.

Sehr netter Service, Essen - naja, die meisten Gäste scheinen es zu mögen. Der Gastraum ist etwas karg eingerichtet, aber adrett und aufgeräumt. Gyros "komplett" (mit Fritten, Tzatziki und gemischtem Salat) gibt es in großer und kleiner Variante. Gute Idee. Kleine Portion reicht für einen normalen Esser allemal. Gyros war etwas trocken und an einigen Stellen schlicht verbrannt. Salat belanglos. Man kann allerdings an der Theke auch frei wählen, was man drin haben möchte. Es werden dann bedenkenlos auch wertvolle Zutaten serviert wie Oliven und Peperoni. Tzatziki hatte sehr starken Knoblauchgeschmack, war aber lecker. Meine Begleiter hatten Burger bzw. Zigeunerschnitzel mit Fritten. Sah nach Fertigprodukt aus, soll aber gut geschmeckt haben. Der Service an Theke und am Tisch war sehr, sehr freundlich. Wer in einer symphatischen Gyros-Bude schnell satt werden will und keine massiven Ansprüche an die Essensqualität hat, kann hier gut hingehen.
