City Kiosk Döner in Potsdam

Phew. It's a tough one if you don't want to offend anyone. Every Potsdam resident knows this place. But only tourists eat there. Great location on the beautiful Platz der Einheit (Unity Square), but unfortunately, the clientele spoils everything. Simply put - the alcoholics put you off. It's not the quiet after-work colleagues who sit quietly by themselves with a beer at the vending machine; it's the loud people who shout, sometimes smother each other's jackets, and in the summer, even sleep off their hangovers on the lawn at 2 p.m. It's nice that these people also have a common space; they scare everyone away here. Women don't walk past there alone in the dark. The employees are friendly, though. They seem to have thick skin, if they can remain friendly despite the company. My highlight last week - two tourists get a kebab and fries, bite into it, and immediately throw both dishes away. When I asked, the answer was "too thin, too greasy, and the sauce sour." Do you eat there? No. But if you need a late-night drink for the walk home, feel free to stop by. It's enough for me. But lingering here? With the drinking community? No thanks.

Very, very nice kebab shop, very generous portions, and an extremely good price for that. The ambiance is perfectly adequate for the food. Anyone who gives this bad review has no idea.

In my plan to visit every kebab shop in Potsdam, there are about two or three candidates I wasn't looking forward to from the start, and City Kiosk Döner is definitely one of them. But hey: first impressions can sometimes be deceiving, and that's the case here too. At first glance, you might think this is just a typical drunken snack bar, but upon closer inspection, you'll notice that it's considerably worse. The shop is beautifully centrally located on Platz der Einheit—bizarrely, at the back of a city restroom. In theory, it could be a nice place, with outdoor benches and right next to the green space. However, it's not only very littered—it also attracts a very unpleasant clientele. I wasn't dealing with the usual people who go to these types of snack bars to calmly drink their third after-work beer or throw their last cash into the slot machine, but with seriously neglected homeless people and people who were quite aggressive and shouting while drunk. Not the best atmosphere for a meal. The whole misery was certainly also due to the fact that the snack bar was more like a bar in terms of drinks – only with cheap alcohol like Sterni. But I was there for dinner, and I got a falafel sandwich and fries. The service was super friendly, and it didn't look particularly dirty at first glance, but the first problem became apparent pretty quickly: there was only a small fryer. So the falafel and fries had to be cooked one after the other, which meant I had to wait quite a while. To be clear: The fries weren't cooked through. I think it was also the first time someone needed two attempts to do it. The first time, he looked at the fries, threw them away, and put in new ones. He was satisfied with them and proudly announced that they were now crispy. They definitely weren't, to the point where they were inedible. The garlic sauce that came with it had a very strange, sour taste that I didn't dare eat it. The sandwich, unfortunately, wasn't any better. First of all, there was very little in it. The bread was soggy, badly toasted, and torn. The falafel weren't cooked properly and had no flavor at all. As a little extra, they were parked under the skewer and lay nicely in the fat from the meat – great for me as a vegetarian. The meat he cut for the customer in front of me, by the way, looked like wallpaper. The salad was very dry – if the tomatoes had been marinated in oil, they would have almost passed for those dried antipasti tomatoes. I couldn't taste the sauces at all, and of course, they weren't spicy. Normally, red cabbage would have a strong taste, but even that was very bland—no idea if it was even pickled. The most potent flavor was the onions, which were cut way too thick. I really hate throwing food away, but I only managed to eat two-thirds of the sandwich, and I gave up after less than a third of the fries. I found City Kiosk Döner to be absolutely lousy. This isn't even possible at 2 a.m. after a few drinks. A small extra negative point is that, thanks to the kebab shop, you're constantly confronted with drunken and rowdy people just trying to walk across Platz der Einheit.

The bread is very tasty. It could have used more sauce. But that is of course a matter of taste. Ultimately, €8 for a big kebab that doesn't even fill a man of normal build is more than a disappointment.

I give it five stars. One star for the food and four for the much-needed restroom afterward. 🤝

Carelessly slapped together kebab. Only half filled, sauce not on the inside of the bread, but the contents drowned on top. Sauce is also way too thick in mayonnaise consistency. In terms of taste, it was the worst kebab I've ever eaten, the falafel wasn't properly fried and was inedible. Plus it's overpriced. I can only strongly advise against it.

Potsdams bekannter "Klo-Döner". Auf der Rückseite eine öffentliche Toilette, vorne dran Säufer, was will man mehr :-)

Sehr netter Mann, Pommes wahren gut, Fleisch Mittel mäßig. Habe auch kein 5 Sterne Restaurant erwartet. Für einen Döner stand für die Größe sehr gut

Hallumi in der Rolle war nix. Der Käse sehr ledrig. Die Sauce war einfach zu viel und verklebt mir jetzt, nach 2h noch den Rachen. Aber der Verkäufer war freundlich.

Auch wenn der Imbiss Laden hinten eine City-toilette hat. Finde ich Preis und Leistung, so wie die Qualität sehr gut. Döner für 3,50€ ist Super und der schmeckt auch, aber es ist meine Meinung dazu.

Alles OK, netter Wirt, sehr gemischtes Publikum

Für ein Feierabends Bier immer gerne. Und die türkische Pizza schmeckt sehr gut.

Supergut alles ist frisch und schmeckt gut WC ist auch da fiel Platz zum schrillen gilt es auch

Kann man gut Döner essen, mitten in der City.

Get your food and go home, for god's sake. Features: It's got a gruff but friendly Turkish guy, a decent approximation of food, and a nearby public bathroom. Tl;dr: Would eat here again.
