Almost the best snack in town, Because without crème fraîche “the cook” would probably have been lost. Very special delicacy - there is even German "home cooking" here. Unfortunately, every one of these dishes contains this annoying crème fraîche. You should noodle the recipe developer with it. It would work without it and would even be much healthier. Very tasty currywurst and Greek dishes. Portions are decent; the service was top notch and even a comfortable seating area. EVERYTHING FINE !!! Except - as already mentioned... Maybe there will be some good feedback.

Three of us were there on Saturday and ordered Gyros Pita. The gyro was ok, but could have been seasoned better. What was irritating was the statement that there was only coleslaw, onions and tzatziki on it. Ah yes...You had to look for the tzatziki though, so it was very dry. The food wasn't brought to our table either, so I can't actually give any stars for the service. You also cashed in straight away, you could do the bend...at least you were full in the end. Next time I'd rather go Greek.

We regularly travel to Kupferdreh to the City Grill. My wife is a self-confessed gyros pita fan. My favorite is the Westphalian Schnitzel, but today I also tried a portion of gyros. Extremely delicious. The quality is right and the service staff is super friendly. We always enjoy coming to City Grill.

I was there often during my time at fadbk. A very good chip shop, but it has become quite expensive. The shish kebab is great, the gyros are also very good. The burgers are not my thing and the schnitzels only with ready-made sauce. Unfortunately, your clothes often smell like grease after you eat there. But everything happens quickly and friendly,

The food is delicious, obviously a little more expensive than elsewhere, but hey no one HAS to eat here😉

You can't expect more from a grill

The price list for 2024 has already received a significant price increase compared to that of 2023!!! INFO: Unfortunately, no photos are uploaded here on Maps. Wanted to upload the two menus here! 😟 I was there again recently and after paying the bill for two people at the checkout I was left with just under €35. Mayo 1€ or a *hit* tzatziki 2€ is crazy. Various dishes according to the menu from April '23 to March '24 of 15%-35% price increase. It is and remains a better *chip shop/butcher grill*. I can't understand the prices with the best will in the world. There are *restaurants* here in Essen where you can eat better and have a better atmosphere for the same price. Sorry dear team, there's nothing you can do about it. Therefore only 1⭐

The neck steak was incredibly tender, the coleslaw and French fries were ok. The food is brought to you, you have to get drinks and clear up yourself. The place is a bit cramped, but not uncomfortable. If you have something to do in Kupferdreh, you can go there.

Tasty, but some plates now cost almost €16. Make yourself think at least twice about whether it's worth it.

Hello, friends of currywurst, shashlik and the like. After a long search, we finally found a great snack. Great sauces that do NOT taste like Zero 8.50. Wonderful, seasoned and seasoned like before. Portion large. Meat and sausage excellent. French fries hot and tasty. If you want, you can enjoy outside. Wonderful!! I will continue to try out the menu here. The people are friendly and helpful. Please keep it up.

1cordon bleu doppelt Pommes 1jägerschnitzel Pommes normal 1 Getränk selber bestellt selber abgeholt bezahlt in Schlange stehen und Sitzplatz an Hauptstraße kupferdreh 32€ wie im Nobel Restaurant nur dass dass Schnitzel sehr dünn doppelt frittiert wie die Pommes, ich krieg grade würgereiz ! Nie mehr . Das cordon bleu war 1cm dick und gefüllt mit Minderwertigem Käse und Schinken

Yesterday I ordered half a chicken with fries mayo, an outrageous €11.70 for it and again the chicken was so dry that you could only eat half of it. The prices are already very steep and the quality has deteriorated a lot.

I almost fell over today when the total price for 3x gyro plates (one with fried potatoes, one without any side dish) came to €42.70. Dear people, this is a snack bar, not a restaurant. The inside ambience is a snack bar, the outside area is right on the main street of the Kupferdreh district (tasty exhaust fumes). Industrial lights and TFT displays have nothing to do with quality or ambience, they are more used for advertising and confusion. I'm starting to think it's excessive, but also at two other snack bars with other core offerings (döner kebabs) in Kupferdreh. All of them have seen price increases in recent months/years that go beyond inflation. You really have to think about whether it's still affordable to pick up/order something.

The best chip shop 👌🏼 super delicious food, all along the menu. The staff is always friendly 👍🏼 There are also places to sit, inside and outside. Unfortunately, you sit outside directly on a busy street. But the food makes up for it 😅 Very clear recommendation 👍🏻

Very large selection. Taxi plate is recommended. It tastes super delicious and is also a large portion. The fries and mayo taste exceptionally good. I think you can recommend everything.

The contribution of Dr. Bartsch is now finally encouraging me to write a review of this “temple of pleasure”: From 2014 to 2019 I had a commuter apartment in Hattingen. I asked my roommates for a good Greek restaurant. “City Grill” was recommended to me. So I went there (it was summer around 25-30°C) and there was a line of people queuing up to buy something to eat at the City Grill. After a while of waiting, it was finally my turn and all I can say is that all the dishes make the palate feel like a cathedral. The employees are friendly, polite and customer-oriented! Even today I'm happy to drive the 130 km from Aachen to get a "taxi plate" or a "traditional pita" and I'm always happy to recommend the shop. Keep it up & kind regards from Aachen.

Years ago we found the City Grill in the French fries guide in the Ruhr area and were thrilled. We always like to come here - for a real "French fries and currywurst sandwich" - delicious. Every time we decide to go to the nearby ice cream parlor, but the portions here make us so full. We are already looking forward to the next time!

Had dinner yesterday on February 22nd, 2024. The welcome was very warm and I was served very quickly and friendly. The food we ordered came very quickly and was extremely tasty. Yesterday I had a hot dog with fried onions as a starter, as it should be, and a currywurst with fries and mayo as my main course. Both were very tasty 😋. I come from Essen-Freisenbruch to the City Grill in Kupferdreh. The extra dishes are also very special. Yesterday I took pork knuckle, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes with me. I've never eaten anything that didn't taste good. This grill is highly recommended. I really like it there.

This is a really great place. I've been eating here for 40 years. A “French fry shop” made from the pot after my own heart. Like a rock in the surf! At a time when a home-style chip shop has to give way to a kebab shop. There is great, tasty food here at normal prices. Currywurst, sauerbraten, schnitzel, kale etc. - normal prices, tasty and friendly served, just the way I like it, mega!!!! Thank you for all your hard work over the years.😉👍

I occasionally go there from Bonn (really!) to meet up with old school friends from Essen. That alone should show that this long journey is worth it for me. Very friendly service, delicious currywurst, gyros and fries, clean atmosphere and reasonable prices. Taxi plate highly recommended. For me the best snack bar in my hometown - and I know many!

A symphony of taste buds... Today for lunch I had dinner there with my wife... My better half had the beef liver with braised onions, puree and applesauce 🤩😋 the plate was prepared with love (as we all know, your eyes eat with you), and the portion was also very generous 👍 Everything was super fresh and delicious. My humble self had the classic Assi plate (French Currywurst Mayo), this was also sensational and you could taste that it was fresh from the butcher. I can only recommend it to everyone. The ladies/service was phenomenal 👍👏👏 We have never been greeted and served so friendly. I would give 10 stars ⭐️!!!

Ate an onion sausage today and a small... Drank a bottle of cola. At the checkout I was very surprised at the price. 9.10 euros were very high. The friendly staff completely agreed with my comment about this. If I had also ordered fries, the amount would have been well over 11 euros. That's simply too high.

My girlfriend brought me half a chicken yesterday, which should be a highlight for me since I'm currently in the hospital. But quite apart from the price of 7.60 €, which I find very expensive, it didn't taste good in the least - the name Gummi Adler came out big again. That really made me miserable at first. I'm really holding back 🤬 other things taste good too. But the rubber eagle didn't work at all. One star just for half the chicken😖

Mega leckeres Essen. Je nach Uhrzeit findet man gut einen Sitzplatz. Aber man kann natürlich auch alles zum Mitnehmen bestellen.

Meine Mann hatte die Leber mit Pommes und ich den Leberkäs mit Bratkartoffeln und Spiegelei. Mein Mann war von der Leber begeistert. Saftig mit gutem Röstaroma. Meine Bratkartoffeln waren knusprig und sehr lecker, genauso der Leberkäs mit Spiegelei. Die Portionen sind auch ordentlich. Hier bekommt man noch was für sein Geld. Auch die Lokalität ist sehr schön gestaltet. Sehr empfehlenswert!

Toll, dass es auch "Hausmannskost" wie Sauerbraten mit Püree gibt. Besser geht nicht!

Wir bestellen hier häufig Gyros und Currywurst.Bisher war immer alles super. Seit einiger Zeit hat die Qualität vom Gyros extrem nachgelassen. Zähes Fleisch und teilweise sehr fettig. Bitte wieder verbessern!

Schnitzel Hawaii war leider sehr trocken. Gastraum eng und sehr voll.

Der City Grill ist immer wieder einen Besuch wert! Die Currywurst mit Pommes ist mein persönlicher Favorit. Die Mitarbeiter sind immer freundlich und das Essen ist schnell zubereitet. 5 Sterne sind eigentlich noch zu wenig… :)

Die Pommmes labbrig, kalt und ungesalzen. Das Sauerkraut mit Speck durchzogen (hatte vorher gefragt ob es das sei und die Antwort war nein) und schmeckte nach nullkommagarnix. Mein Bekannter meinte, dass auch das Gyros geschmacklos und mit Fettklumpen durchzogen war. Die Krönung: das schlechteste Tzatziki ever. Wartezeit 45 Minuten . Fantasiepreise, die nix mit der Karte zu tun hatten. Fazit: Totalausfall.

Für mich, einer der beste Imbissbetriebe in der Umgebung. Mittagstisch, sehr gute Portionen, leckere Mayo und nicht diese saure Salatmayoplörre. Ja, es ist alles teurer geworden, dafür machen die aber auch super Portionen. Der Mann wird satt und die Frau kann auch noch was wegtuppern. Oder auch umgekehrt 😉 Das Personal ist superschnell, sehr freundlich und gut organisiert. Mittags tobt da der Bär, wenn man vorbestellt getz flott.
