Chito Gvrito in Leipzig

It was delicious! I'm half-Georgian myself, and it tasted just like my second home – especially the wine and schnapps! :) Thank you for your hospitality, dear Maka! 🙏🏽

This was our first time here, and from the very first minute, we felt truly welcome. Maka was incredibly warm, attentive, and genuine; you don't feel like a guest, but almost like you're at a friend's house. The food was simply unbelievably delicious. Every course was perfectly seasoned, high-quality, beautifully presented, and a truly special culinary experience. You can immediately tell that they work with passion and authentic Georgian cuisine. The ambiance is also cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening with good food and great conversation. The price is absolutely fair for the quality; we paid around €10–20 per person and were more than satisfied and happy. Highly recommended; we will definitely be back.

A group of four of us visited a wonderful restaurant. This authentic Georgian restaurant is located near Leipzig's historic center. It's very cozy inside, with paintings, tapestries, and various decorative details representative of the local culture. There are two dining rooms with cozy wooden tables and pleasant, warm lighting. Since I love Georgian cuisine, this was a real find! The hosts are so welcoming that I want to return again and again. Adjarian khachapuri, delicious lamb khinkali, meat dishes, and Saperavi wine! Everything you need for a delicious and cozy dinner for two or an evening with friends, especially if you're with a Georgian friend. It's a truly immersive experience, albeit only for two hours, but it's more than enough to immerse yourself in Georgian culture while clinking glasses of azur chacha! Everything is incredibly delicious, filling, and hearty! The service is attentive and homely. I 100% recommend visiting once and becoming a loyal customer forever! ❤️🍷

Service was pretty crap tonight. Had to ask for most things twice and a lot of the things we asked for twice never even came (like extra water glasses and the check). Recommend sticking with the khinkali and khatchapuri. Those were both delicious. Lamb chops came out in a very odd hot garlic sauce which was not at all what we ordered from the menu. Tried to order the khachapuri twice and were kind of told no you can’t order that but then it did end up coming (which was nice cause it was very good!). Update based on restaurant response: The lamb chops came put baked in a white sauce, there was no Adjika anywhere. Additionally, the glasses really were never delivered. We ended up using glasses from other drinks and pouring our water into them. Regarding the bill, we asked both the owner and the other server and ended up just paying at the cash register as it never came after 15+ mins of waiting. I eat out a lot and would never post false information in my reviews.

The best Georgian restaurant! The food is always delicious and fresh. The service is excellent. Everyone is very friendly and sweet. You feel like family. I went to this restaurant today on the recommendation of friends. The atmosphere was awful, everything was just thrown together, the tables were sticky. Dust and dirt in every corner, the service was completely overwhelmed, unfortunately we were only able to get one drink in two hours, and the food was an absolute disaster. None of the dishes I ordered were presented or prepared even remotely like the photos on the restaurant's website. The meat skewer I ordered came in a bowl, overcooked, with tons of oil, raw onion rings, and soggy potatoes. The mushroom heads weren't stuffed, they just had a thick layer of cheese on them, the cauliflower wasn't white but brown, etc. Inedible!!! I don't want to remember it... so awful!!!

It's quite expensive, but the dishes are delicious and the atmosphere is authentic.

We ordered two pork mzwadis for pickup. Both portions were burnt to a charcoal black, making them dry and unbearably bitter. When we picked them up, the food was already wrapped and cold. It was very disappointing. I don't think the chef didn't notice. I think the quality of the dish was simply unconscionably poor. I won't recommend this restaurant to my friends.

While looking for something different in Leipzig, I discovered this lovely restaurant. We were very impressed and satisfied with the welcome, service, and food. Very pleasant conversations and explanations of the dishes. The food was served quickly and tasted very good. Thank you for the wonderful time we were able to spend with you.

We had a family celebration at Chito Gvrito. Everything was perfect. Friendly people, a great atmosphere, and delicious food. We all had a lovely evening. This won't be our last celebration there.

I ate here with my husband today for the first time without a reservation. We were greeted so warmly by the owner and immediately connected. We know Georgia and Georgian cuisine well. The dishes were incredibly authentic, and the excellent wine, with its extensive repertoire of over 500 grape varieties, represented Georgia extremely well. We found this restaurant to be the best Georgian restaurant in Leipzig. And we know all the Georgian restaurants here in the city, some of which are also very good. The young man who served us was also extremely attentive and extremely friendly. We'll be back very soon! 🩷

My husband and I recently visited this excellent Georgian restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we felt like long-awaited guests. Great atmosphere and impeccably prepared food. Charming hostess, attentive staff to all the wishes of the guest. It was very nice to receive delicious compliments from the establishment. We will be happy to return here when we are in Leipzig again.

The khachapuri was actually quite good – we particularly liked the dough. Unfortunately, the filling was far too salty and overly seasoned. The other dishes were similar: the shashlik was simply dry, heavily salted meat – it had little resemblance to real shashlik. The service was friendly and attentive, which we found really positive. But the food is one of the most important reasons to come back. Maybe we'll come back again – we'll see. But if the food continues to be so salty, spicy, and dry, this will probably be our last visit. My rating is based solely on the quality of the food – and at the moment, it's just two stars, with a lot of effort.

If you'd like to experience Georgian hospitality, or if you've already experienced it and missed it, then this is the place for you. All the dishes we ordered were prepared with love and made us feel like we were sitting in a restaurant in Tblisi. Very friendly and helpful service, authentic Georgian lemonade in many flavors (pear and woodruff are a must), and delicious dishes made with carefully selected ingredients gave us a short vacation in Georgia without having to fly. Thanks to the owners, we'll be back and continue trying the menu 🙏🏼

Nice little shop. I ordered shashlik there and unfortunately got fried meat in a lot of oil, which was very disappointing. The dips weren't seasoned enough, almost not at all. The rest was delicious. The compote was very tasty.

The service was incredibly attentive, and the courtyard is a real hidden gem in the summer. I wouldn't have guessed it from the unassuming entrance. The food is absolutely delicious, though not exactly cheap.

The Adjaruli Khachapuri was fantastic, reasonably priced, enormous, and the best dinner I've had in months. Everything about it was perfect, I will return to order it many times. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice, too. Update: I returned to try the red beet in walnut sauce, and the beef-filled Khachapuri. Like before, it was some of the most delicious food I've had, and the service was once again, very friendly. I'm already planning my next visit, when I want to try their dumplings. The table beside me ordered them, and they looked fantastic.

Sehr gute, typisch georgische Hausmannskost. Sehr leckeres Essen. Familiäres Klima, die Betreiber sind teilweise verwandt. Der Umgang mit den Gästen ist freundlich und zuvorkommend. Es werden Empfehlungen gemacht und man bekommt alles erklärt was man wissen möchte. Man spricht Deutsch, Russisch und Georgisch. Die Einrichtung innen wie außen ist einfach, rustikal und gemütlich. Das Preisniveau ist gehoben. Die Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken ist ausreichend. Dafür sind die Speisen auf den Punkt und abwechslungsreich.

Excellent, typical Georgian home cooking. Very tasty food. A family atmosphere; some of the owners are related. The service is friendly and accommodating. Recommendations are offered, and everything you need to know is explained. German, Russian, and Georgian are spoken. The decor, both inside and out, is simple, rustic, and cozy. The prices are upscale. The selection of food and drinks is adequate. The dishes are spot-on and varied.

We were there in the evening on a weekday, so it was quiet. Friendly staff, delicious food, nice atmosphere. Card payments are only accepted for orders over €50. I'll definitely come back to try more food!

Yesterday, nine of us visited you for the first time. We really enjoyed it. The food, both the starters and main courses, was of outstanding quality. The service from all the staff deserves special mention. You can tell that this restaurant is run with heart and love. It's absolutely delicious. But there's no order. Sometimes they bring sauce for the khinkali, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they serve salted potatoes, sometimes they don't salt them at all.

Incredibly delicious, very authentic. We had an appetizer platter with bread and filled dumplings. It's enough for two people. It's beautifully presented, and you get tips on how to eat it in a typically Georgian way. It's a bit on the expensive side, but it's worth it.

It was my first time eating Georgian food and I found it very interesting. The kebab was fantastic, super-seasoned, and beautifully juicy. The lazuri was also very tasty. The khinkali are homemade and fresh. Unfortunately, they weren't my taste, but they were obviously very popular and were on almost every table. I think the prices are a bit high, but I have no comparison. The service was very friendly and helpful in explaining the dishes. Only the cleanliness in some corners wasn't so great.

First time eating Georgian food, pleasantly surprised. Everything was delicious.

Overall, we had a really lovely time, and the food was the icing on the cake. The rustic ambiance, the colorfully mixed chairs, and especially the food created a cozy atmosphere – almost as if you were visiting your own grandmother. A particular highlight was the group of Russian seniors who sang and played the piano in the restaurant that evening – it created a wonderful atmosphere. For our three-course meal, the four of us paid just under €140 (without tip), which is absolutely reasonable for the quality and the experience. A quick tip: The chai with fermented walnuts (murabit) is an unusual but highly recommended experience!

Wir waren anlässlich eines kleinen Familientreffens dort, bereits der Empfang war recht unterkühlt. Alles dauerte eine Weile, auch nur das Bringen der Karte. Die Vorspeisenplatte, die für alle gedacht war, wurde auf einem winzigen Teller, recht gedrängt serviert. Die Lammkoteletts waren eine Katastrophe, dermaßen zäh, so dass sie nicht essbar waren. Die anderen Gerichte waren o.k., aber jedenfalls nicht umwerfend. In Georgien selbst haben wir auf alle Fälle besser gegessen ! Da gehen wir nicht mehr hin !

I recently went to this Georgian restaurant and absolutely loved it! The food was incredibly delicious, with authentic flavors that make you feel like you are in Georgia. The staff was extremely friendly, attentive and made the stay very pleasant. I would particularly like to highlight the cozy and inviting atmosphere, which went perfectly with the food. Georgian hospitality is very important here. The good soul of the restaurant fills the restaurant with a lot of love and warmth. We felt very welcome and at home. We ate khinkali and shish kebab and were very impressed by the taste and can only recommend it.

We were guests in the restaurant today. We had reserved. After 40 minutes we were finally allowed to place our order with drinks and food. Other guests were served more quickly. Our drinks came one after the other at the same time. As a small compensation for the wait, we were given a very tasty starter with home-baked bread and a spinach ball with walnut sauce, which was absolutely delicious. The main courses were good. They forgot the dip for the pasta pockets It was a good experience today, but it's not enough for us to visit again.

There is no khinkali here, but the dumpling tastes a little better than the store-bought one in the form of khinkali P.S. The fact that the plates are returned empty does not mean that you have khinkali, these are dumplings in the form of khinkali, because I personally went to a Georgian establishment for them, comparison, when I take a BMW, I don’t get an Opel, so you are the owner, don’t substitute please understand, your cooks need to be sent to a truly Georgian restaurant so that they can be shown what khinkali is, service, etc., nothing personal

Two hours of waiting for food on Saturday: free, it can happen. The starter plate for €18 (!), which fits on a saucer, is extremely expensive. The food tastes good, but no one was full. If I were rich, I would order three portions to make up one meal. Unfortunately it's too expensive for me.

Waited over 2.5 hours for food that didn't come at all in the end. We were repeatedly told off that it was in the works. We weren't able to order a second round of drinks because no one checked on us. We have never experienced anything so outrageous. At least the first round of drinks was free as an apology. It's a shame, the boss was actually very nice and made a good impression. Maybe we'll give it a second chance. Very, very unfortunate.

It wasn't the first time we were there. But I was disappointed. The kebab was raw, the khinkali looked like it came from the freezer.

We were in this restaurant for the first time. The service was extremely nice and warm. The food was okay, but I don't find the price-performance ratio understandable. About 400 grams of cooked eggplant for 16 euros without any side dish, extra bread for 3 euros and a yeast roll with cheese in the shape and size of a pizza for 17 euros are quite sporty.

The food was good. The service too. The boss is very warm-hearted. However, the dishes are very small and come without anything. If there was at least some bread to fill you up... 4 pieces of chicken for the price of an expensive main course? (also called main course). For us, the price and performance didn't fit.

I would like to note the incredibly pleasant atmosphere and how incredibly polite and professional they served us! The food exceeded all my expectations, it felt like it was being prepared with love and skill. Thank you very much, at the very end I was even offered to drink cognac for free, it was very unexpected and pleasant. Such service makes you want to visit you again and again! I recommend to everyone.

A little piece of my home is in Leipzig!!! Chito Gvrito - შენ გენაცვალე!! The food tastes just like in Georgia!!! Just as hospitable, Just as warm atmosphere, Just as friendly!!! And... I have to say... We were in various Georgian restaurants in Berlin, we were in Leipzig (somewhere else) but we only enjoyed the Khinkali at chito gvrito. Always happy !!! And, qalbatono Lali, I'm happy to see you again!!!

The location is a basement bar with no special ambience. The dishes are very fatty and unfortunately not particularly well seasoned. This is supposed to be typical of the country... Well, I'll avoid it in the future. Especially since the service from the junior boss is even worse. A friendly request for a mocha that had been ordered about 25 minutes before was answered very unfriendly. After that there was no service at all. The bill took about 30 minutes. Maybe I'll try Georgian food and Georgian hospitality again at another restaurant at some point.
