We've been there twice now, and we can highly recommend the restaurant; the food is delicious 😋 and we'll be going there more often.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it. I had duck with cashew nuts, and underneath the duck was what felt like a kilo of sprouts—no other vegetables. The wonton soup tasted like dishwater, and my companion's sweet and sour soup tasted strongly of vinegar. A real shame...

We've been regulars at Shanghai for years. The food is always excellent and fresh. Friendly staff, great service, and a wide selection of dishes. Our favorite Chinese restaurant in Göttingen and the surrounding area. Highly recommended!

When arrogance meets fine dining. We spontaneously decided to try the restaurant on a Saturday around noon – unfortunately without a reservation. Upon entering, we were quite firmly informed that there were no tables available. My inquiry about whether it might be possible in an hour or later was unfortunately ignored. I completely understand that reservations take priority, but a slightly friendlier approach or a suggestion of possible alternatives (e.g., a later time) would have been appreciated. The food on the other tables looked very appetizing – so we definitely want to give the restaurant another chance with a reservation. However, our initial impression of the service was rather distant, while the food itself looked very appealing. Perhaps it was simply busy – we hope things will go better next time.

I was in Göttingen on business and visited this Chinese restaurant. The beautiful decor, which creates a pleasant atmosphere, is immediately noticeable upon entering. The welcome was very warm – the women who run the restaurant seem like family and are exceptionally friendly. For a starter, I had a seafood soup, which was very aromatic and fresh. This was followed by beef with vegetables, which was superbly prepared. The portions are generous, and the prices are absolutely reasonable. Overall, a highly recommended restaurant that I will gladly visit again.

The appetizer wasn't my thing. The wonton filling wasn't really my thing. I would probably prefer the vegetarian version. The spring roll was okay. I've had better. But the Asian noodles taste great. The duck was also very tasty.

Based on many recommendations, we went there to eat for the first time today. What can I say? It was super beautiful! A super loving family that runs the restaurant and the food is absolutely top! Service and friendliness and great quality are very important. We'll definitely be back! 👏🏼👏🏼

Nice service, large portions. Unfortunately the food is quite tasteless. Thin textureless chicken meat with a thick flour coating is sold as 'Crispy Chicken'. The vegetables consist of 50% sprouts. Even the sambal has hardly any taste.

We spontaneously came here on Maundy Thursday because of the great reviews. We didn't have a reservation but the friendly staff found a table for us. Shortly afterwards every table was occupied. So it is advisable to make a reservation. The employees had their hands full, but everything went well. They were very attentive and quick. The food was incredibly delicious! We had mixed platters with 4 different dishes, spring roll as a starter and ice cream and baked banana with honey as dessert. Everything great and plentiful! The price is more than fair.

We had booked a table well in advance for Boxing Day. We were 5 adults and had to sit at a table for 4 people. Everything was so cramped that it had nothing to do with a cozy Christmas dinner with the family. We are so disappointed, Shang Hai is our favorite place when it comes to Chinese cuisine. We are regulars. Like every year, we also had a little something for the kitchen and service. Only the other guests got something for Christmas. We would also have been happy about a little something. The only bright spot was, as always, the excellent food.

Small and crowded, but rightly so. We often eat here at lunchtime and are always very tasty and very reasonably priced.

We went here for dinner for the first time two weeks ago. We are my mother (aged 80 but still in great shape), my seven-year-old son Lennox, and I, in my mid-50s and not grown up at all...! The fact that it was our Shanghai premiere is very sad - because I've been living around the corner for 11 years, but I've always wanted the opposite of the "buffet fattening farms", which unfortunately don't seem to be going out of fashion...! But now I have found my new favorite restaurant when it comes to Asian cuisine! I wished I could treat myself to a visit to a restaurant

By far the best Chinese restaurant far and wide. Killer portions, really tasty and unbeatable for the price. The boss always looks at us in amazement when we only manage half of our two-person plate :-) Platter for 2 people with starter and dessert for €35 is unbeatable in terms of price/performance ratio. And no mass-produced goods, everything fresh!

There are parking spaces in front of the restaurant. The toilets are clean.

The owner family personally takes care of cooking and serving the dishes and you can feel the love and passion they put into every single dish. Personally, I love the roasted duck and the crispy spring rolls. But not only is the food great, the service is also excellent. The owner family is so friendly and attentive that you immediately feel at home. They are always willing to make recommendations and make sure you have everything you need. Overall, I can recommend China Restaurant Shang Hai to anyone looking for authentic Chinese food. It may have a normal ambience, but the taste and service are anything but normal - they are simply sensational!

We were there for dinner on Friday with 3 people. The food was excellent and plentiful. We were all full and my wife was even able to take her food home with us. You pay around €17.50 for duck dishes. Beer about 4.50 (0.4). The furnishings could be a little more modern, but otherwise everything is good.

The service at this Chinese restaurant is great! 👍 This is the first time I have encountered such good service in five years in Germany! My friend and I also celebrated our birthday in the store, and the store clerk brought us knives and forks to eat the cake we brought! Very nett! The food tastes very good and there is a heating tray underneath, so you don't have to worry about the food getting cold if you chat for a long time. We chatted for two hours and the food was still hot! ! ! The portions are also huge! The waiter was very friendly and packed the food for us, gave us after-dinner cocktails after the meal, and finally helped us clear the table. Let us not be anxious and continue to sit and chat! This restaurant is the best Chinese there is in Göttingen. We have been eating there with our family for over 20 years, and the food is always very, very tasty. Everything is right for the price and the size of the portion too. Very hospitable and very clean.

Overall, my impression wasn't particularly good. The service is great, but unfortunately it doesn't make the taste experience any better. Now in detail: I ordered a vegetarian dish with tofu and my companion ordered a variation of meat dishes. If you're hoping for traditional Chinese cuisine, you've come to the wrong place. It is Germanized Chinese cuisine that is known throughout Germany. With the tofu dish I noticed that most of the vegetables were not fresh but canned. The dish automatically loses its taste, nutrients and natural aromas. My impression was that most visitors come for the sumptuous meat dishes, which are often impossible to handle during a visit and can therefore be taken with you for the next day. It wasn't mine. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated for the price category and made a nice impression on me. The service staff was very courteous and tried to ensure customer satisfaction.
