China Restaurant Mr. Miao in Idar-Oberstein

We were there in a big group, everyone liked the seats, we booked them, but there weren't many people.

Absolutely delicious and incredibly friendly! We arrived quite late, and the buffet was already empty in some places – completely understandable so close to closing time. But when we asked, they freshly prepared everything we wanted. That was fantastic! The food was delicious, and the service was incredibly friendly and relaxed; you really feel welcome.

I would like to express my dissatisfaction with my recent visit to your restaurant. The server—a young man with blond hair—was asked how much longer my food would take. His response was rude: he told me to "ask myself," even though that was clearly part of his job. When the food (grilled meat) finally arrived, the quality was so poor that we had to leave it. The entire experience was very disappointing. In the end, I spoke to the manager. He laughed and said, "Whatever." 🤦🏻‍♂️

As a family (2 adults + 2 children), we usually enjoy eating here for the buffet. But this was our last visit!!! We arrived on a Sunday evening around 8:30 p.m. and wanted something delicious from the buffet. At first glance, we could see that almost nothing was left. The waitress then checked with the chef to make some more food. The grill area was already closed, the sushi counter empty! The chef then brought out exactly 3 dishes!! (mushrooms with sauce, beef with sauce, and 8 other delicacies), the rest of the buffet was empty, covered/cleared, or dried out! My wife then went to pay, and we went downstairs... when she asked me what we had paid for it, I almost lost my faith! We had to pay the full price even though 90% of the buffet was missing!! I went back upstairs to the waitress and asked her what that was all about. The waitress then told me that she had already told the manager that they couldn't charge full price for what was left. But she didn't care! After a long back and forth, the manager finally came and asked what my problem was. I told her that it was outrageous to charge full price. The total was €62.xx, then she typed something into the cash register (probably the lunch buffet price) and came up with €48.xx. Then she handed me €10 and said it was fine. This was our last visit to this place! That's how you lose your regular customers, what a pity! PS: The waitress isn't to blame and does a really great job!

We were there for the buffet. The selection was very limited, but the food was delicious. Unfortunately, the grill was broken...

Very clean restaurant, friendly service, good location

We've always enjoyed eating here. Unfortunately, today's food was anything but good. The meat and fish were bone dry, and the noodles had no taste at all. The grill was broken. When we left, we all felt really sick. That was the last time we'll be here. We'd rather go to Osakii in Bad Kreuznach.

The restaurant offers very good value for money – the prices are moderate, and you won't find a 3-star menu, but rather a diverse Chinese cuisine. You'll definitely be more than satisfied – the buffet is, of course, designed so that you don't fill your plate with shrimp – otherwise the price would probably be three times as much.

Read ambience, the food was really great especially well prepared, service was also a 10/10

A great restaurant. The food is delicious. The staff is polite and accommodating. The prices are reasonable and reflect the portions served. All in all, highly recommended.

I drive to this restaurant for around 40 km/m, but I think it's crazy that we're not informed online when people go on holiday. For me and my family, it was a day in the Arch, so to speak. Thank you for that.

I was here for lunch (buffet - all you can eat). The food was okay, but nothing special. I can confirm the other reviews about the partially empty containers. It wasn't that busy, so the containers were a bit less full - completely understandable, because you don't want to throw anything away. The problem, however, is that if there are one or two people ahead of you at the buffet, you quickly end up with an empty container. I was mostly lucky. Three people after me had to go without some dishes - at least their first course. The selection wasn't huge, rather average. The staff was very nice. The ambiance is classic for this concept - I like it.

We arrived at the buffet at 7 p.m. There were maybe 10 tables occupied, but the service was still hectic. Unfortunately, the buffet was empty, and nothing was being refilled. What was left looked like it had been vomited out. Still, we had to pay full price. It's a shame, it used to be much better, and we always enjoyed coming here. This was the last time.

Never again. Everyone is listless. Food isn't refilled. Cold.

Delicious restaurant, very clean! Despite the language barrier (because we are French) the waitress was able to adapt and did everything to serve our needs. It’s still a shame that there are very few people who come to eat there. I recommend!

Food was good. Little choice, but enough. There were a few piggies who spread the food on the floor and the mess stayed on the floor the whole time. The staff is friendly. Prices are very high compared to other buffet restaurants. Little motivation to go back.

We came full of joy to celebrate my anniversary, unfortunately all the containers were almost empty and the service stirred the leftovers several times, but didn't refill them. Unfortunately, we weren't satisfied with the stirring on my anniversary. Very disappointing, you want to spend a nice time, but you have the feeling that every dish is counted even though it's supposed to be all you can eat. At Easter we tried our luck here again and we reserved exactly a specific table so that we had the least fun at our favorite place. And what happened was, our place was taken and our reservation wasn't entered at all. This was ignored, no apology, no leniency. There were at least 25 guests still sitting and nothing was being refilled. It's no fun, you're always in a bad mood afterwards. It's just a shame for the employees who have to endure all the complaints from guests and the restaurant management doesn't care at all! You can keep the place quiet, no one will miss it!

Typical Chinese chain interior but pleasant. Buffet actually offers everything you would expect and is fresh and of good quality. Price/performance is right and the service is attentive and friendly: if you don't want a spit roast again in Idar-Oberstein, you will find an alternative here, also a la carte if necessary - recommended!

We were there today with 4 people without making a reservation in advance and we got a great table. Very nice staff and great atmosphere. That was our first visit but not the last.

Huge Chinese restaurant in summer with a large terrace where you can always get a seat. All-you-can-eat buffet at lunch and dinner, also hot stone in the evening. Lots of young people with children.

I've never seen anything so disgusting and totally overpriced! I only give the one star because Google forces me to do so, as unfortunately I am not allowed to give a rating without a star. Eat Completely cold are tough like rubber, and also dry as if it had been sitting there all day or was warmed up from the day before. The selection at the buffet was pure disaster, as there was hardly any food and everything was cold. service Totally unfriendly and extremely hectic service. The waitresses don't even have the decency to ask if you want something to drink or to clear away empty plates. Ambiance Totally worn out equipment. Half of the lighting no longer works. The decoration is almost falling off the wall. You could also clean the place! 3 empty boxes standing on the dirty counter doesn't work at all. I don't even want to start talking about the serving trolley in front of the counter that was so full of dirty dishes that it almost fell down. When I looked into the kitchen I almost wanted to puke, it was so dirty. If you don't feel like cleaning up your mess, please close the restaurant❗️❗️❗️ Absolutely not recommended. The worst restaurant I've ever eaten at. Once and never again. It also seemed like the staff were arguing among themselves.

We particularly enjoy the lunch buffet. For €12.90 the selection is great! The evening buffet also offers the opportunity to have things freshly grilled, including salmon, fish, mussels and even frog legs if you like them.

We went to the buffet today (not for the first time) and can't complain. I don't understand the bad reviews either, because whenever there was something to complain about, we were able to speak to the absolutely friendly and courteous service. Maybe you should work on your own tone first, because constructive criticism was well received. There was definitely enough food and the selection was very large. It was constantly replenished so that food was never out of stock. The ambience is actually a bit outdated but drawing comparisons with big cities makes me question common sense. It was clean and tidy, additional napkins were provided upon request, there were always clean dishes/glasses. Our defiant toddler was quickly cheered up and we fully understood that eating buffet meals with children does not necessarily mean good behavior. Plates were always cleared and our glasses filled quickly. We have absolutely no complaints and would like to thank you for the lovely evening!

We went for lunch. It was a very tasty selection of different dishes. A very nice lady served us.

Unfortunately, the quality always varies greatly. Sometimes great, sometimes flop. The German service is really very friendly and extremely hard working. Unfortunately I think that for the price the quality could be better but otherwise everything is ok.

There is a nice buffet here and you can eat until you are full - there is something for everyone.

The food is varied for a Chinese buffet restaurant. The blowflies on the food were partly disruptive, which may not be possible to change, and the carpet urgently needs to be vacuumed, which has certainly been necessary for some time.

Had a reservation for the buffet at 6 p.m....salad 🥗 everything was empty...generally hardly filled...you had to pick up the grilled food yourself after a 45 minute wait...drink didn't come until 30 minutes after ordering...catastrophic ....never again

We went out to eat there late and spontaneously. The buffet was already quite empty, the rush hour was already over. That's why I asked the extremely nice and courteous lady in service whether the buffet would be refilled. She told me that not all dishes would be completely refilled because it wasn't worth it with so few guests, but that we should get in touch and get everything we wanted freshly prepared. When I wanted to grab the duck, she asked me to wait so that she would have fresh duck prepared for me because it might be a bit dry in the buffet. Afterwards she asked specifically whether I had any of the duck that was put in the buffet. All the food was delicious, there was nothing to complain about and the service was friendly and courteous. I think it makes a lot of sense that the buffet wasn't completely full the whole evening, because in the end the leftovers would be thrown away and that simply makes no sense economically and ecologically. The fact that everything the guest wants is freshly refilled upon request is a great compromise! Absolutely ok for the price, overall recommended!

I asked there by phone at 1:20 p.m. whether the lunch buffet was still open, when I was there 15 minutes later, they said it had been open since 1 p.m., but by phone here the lunch buffet was open until 2:30 p.m. Free gas procedure for there and back 😕 that you take a 20 minute drive and then don't get anything to eat. That was really a negative action that you can't take the staff and manager at their word. I don't go there anymore.

Sampled various delicacies from the buffet. We were able to have some (raw) dishes (beef, white fish, shrimp) grilled. It was really good 👍.

Unfortunately I'm disappointed. We've been there so many times, today was the last time we were there! There was a group of disabled people there (I don't have anything against these people). They constantly touched my children and shouted loudly. It was very unpleasant that food was touched and put back. In 20 minutes we left this restaurant hungry. There could be someone there who was paying attention.

The food itself is quite good, we ate from the buffet. Fresh and hot. However, I swallowed hard when paying. 2 people, 2x buffet and 1 drink for each. They charged a whopping 50 euros for this. You shouldn't do it, but I'll continue to do the calculations. That's about 100 D-Marks. And for such a price I will avoid this place from now on.

We were there for lunch at short notice with a large group (20 people). The buffet was very reasonable for the price and it was replenished quickly. The questions and wishes of vegans were addressed. The service was very helpful and super friendly. We enjoyed our stay and can only recommend the restaurant.

Very good cuisine. Even at the buffet, fish and meat are tender and tasty. Compared to other buffets, the quality is absolutely outstanding! The Mongolian buffet (raw meat/fish) is very fresh. The preparation is impressively good, really better than at many other Mongolian buffets. - Thoroughly recommended.

Top food and very patient staff

We had eaten there again for a long time and were really impressed. Large selection at the buffet. The ingredients for preparation on the grill were also great and were also deliciously seasoned. Everything clean, nice friendly staff. It wasn't the last time we were there.

We ate there on Saturday March 9th. It was pretty full and we had reservations. Service was on point. Food was delicious. It was always filled up quickly, despite the rush. Only the bananas took a while to arrive. The chocolate fountain is great but the chocolate is too liquid/too thin that it doesn't stick to anything. We'd love to come back.

1 star is still too much!! We reserved a remote table early so that we could enjoy the buffet in peace. BUT, when we arrived the staff was so overwhelmed. We were assigned a table that was in the middle of the buffet and right next to the grill station (passage to the toilets). After we politely asked the staff whether we could get a table that matched our reservation, they cheekily said no as we walked past. If the food had been better, we could have overlooked the whole table thing... BUT that wasn't the case. Little choice, there are mayo bottles from discount stores around and it was very rarely refilled. Sushi lovers will be disappointed. Again, it was rarely refilled here... and when it was refilled, the new tablet was simply slapped on top of the old sushi. (I would have liked to have taken a picture of this retroactively, but we just wanted to leave this "restaurant" quickly). Oh, soy sauce is also limited. There were 3 bottles next to the sushi for all guests, one of which had completely leaked and you got your hands dirty when you used the other one. I will never go here again. Please save your money. We will go to our trusted Chinese buffet restaurant.

Too many guests in a small space. Bad service when it comes to drinks and clearing tables. Waiting too long for the food to be refilled. Too much emphasis on sales than on quality and service.

The hall is very smoky, the hood does not cope with its tasks, so clothes must be washed immediately upon returning home. The food is tasty, but there is too much flavor enhancers. The interior is tired and needs renovation. The owner saves on the number of employees, as I saw only 1-2 employees in the common hall during peak hours. They performed an incredible amount of physically demanding work and served guests' requests at the same time.

We were there today at 1:15 p.m. for the lunch buffet, unfortunately everything looked pretty empty! I waited for an hour! Afterwards I asked the waitress why nothing was being refilled! I couldn't eat a single shrimp! After my complaint, fried rice was brought only once! Normally I wouldn't have to pay the bill in full! I would just end up feeling full of noodles!

The food itself was good, just not always too warm. The cocktails - although very tasty - were unfortunately at room temperature. You can't do it without ice cream. A brief introduction to the Mongolian grill would have been helpful. A bit dry if you don't know that you can choose a sauce. I've had more choice when it comes to sushi in other stores. Maybe it depends on when you go. Price performance ratio was okay. 2 people are not enough for service at this company. But somehow it's like that everywhere. So bring some time.

Eat The selection at the buffet is mediocre to poor but the real big problem is the quality of the food. For dessert, the cheesecake was very sour and the jelly was salty. service What was ordered arrived quickly, but that could also be because there wasn't that much going on. Service is not overly friendly, but is okay. However, it is extremely annoying that used plates are not cleared away and there is also a lack of demand for additional orders. Ambience: Music good, style fits - traditionally Chinese. Furniture however worn out. Conclusion: Absolutely not worth it. If there was at least an attempt to present an authentic and high-quality buffet, I would like to preserve the restaurant landscape through my visit and come more often.

War am 2 Weihnachtstag mit meinen Großeltern Buffet essen, war lecker große Auswahl, kommen gerne wieder.

Für all you can eat supper, Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuverlässig.

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend dort, kann es nur weiter empfehlen.

Bisher waren wir zufrieden mit dem Service, der Auswahl und der Qualität des Essens. Das hat sich aber am letzten Wochenende geändert. Zunächst war die Bedienung, eine Aushilfe wohl, äußerst unfreundlich. Mein Enkel musste sich am Tisch übergeben, da die Chicken Nuggets scheinbar schlecht waren (sonst hat er sie dirt gerne gegessen). Für mich persönlich waren die angebotenen Froschschenkel in der Auslage ein Nogo. Positiv vermerken muss ich, dass mein Enkel nichts bezahlen musste und am Ende einen Schokoladenadventskalender geschenkt bekam. Was ich auch als bedenklich und sehr unschön empfinde ist der desolate Zustand des Aquariums im Eingangsbereich.

Das beste asiatische Essen, das ich je gegessen habe, der Service ist hervorragend. Neben den frisch zubereiteten Speißen mitten im Restaurant am Grill, kann man auch die Option Buffet wählen, wo warme und kalte Speißen bereit liegen, die man sich am Grill ohne Aufpreis zubereiten lassen kann. Preis Leistung kann ich das Buffet sehr empfehlen. Ansonsten ein leckeres Gericht á la carte.

Alles soweit Okay, auch das Menü ist sein Geld wert. Was aber gar nicht geht, dass man bevor man sitzt schon gefragt wird, was man trinken möchte. Hier zahlt sich etwas Geduld und die Möglichkeit, sich die Karte anzuschauen, für die Bedienung am Ende aus. So halt nicht.

Leider war das sushi für das ich gekommen war schnell leer und es gab keine grosse Auswahl.
