Choose your own ingredients for your soup, choose your soup, wait a short while, add your toppings...always delicious, often very busy, but the wait time is tolerable, the ambiance could be nicer.

Pretty much the most delicious food I know in Darmstadt. Be warned: even the base alcohol level is quite high. Unfortunately, reservations aren't possible, so you usually have to wait a while for a table – but it's worth it.

I lived in China for about 6 years, this restaurant is very similar to a simple restaurant in China, good selection and delicious.

Jin's Haus Main Branch in Frankfurt Compared to Pupu, the tomato soup is richer and the mala soup is saltier. I was drinking a lot of bubble tea🧋 Cash and EC cards (10 euros or more) accepted. Please note that PayPal, checks, and credit cards are not accepted!

One of my few experiences with malatang and I loved it! Lots of ingredients to choose from, broth is heartwarming as well. Got mango flavoured and matcha drinks as well, were delicious :) The place is on a smaller side, but cozy, I had a great time. Didn’t have to wait for the table for two when we arrived, but noticed definitely more people coming later in the evening. Review from 04.11.2025!

We were there today for the first and last time. The seats are too close together, so you get bumped every time someone wants to get past. The selection of ingredients is good, but we really didn't like the broths at all. "Slightly spicy" is definitely too spicy—so spicy that I couldn't eat it properly. The staff wasn't friendly. Questions about the broths were barely answered, and we were rushed when paying.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Absolutely Terrible Experience I don’t even know where to start. This was, without exaggeration, the worst dining experience I’ve had in a long time. The food was so unbearably spicy that it was completely inedible, this was torture. Felt like it had been drowned in chili oil with no balance, no flavor, nothing but pain. On top of that, the staff didn’t seem interested when I mentioned the issue. I left still hungry, with a burning mouth, and honestly feeling like I’d wasted both time and money. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this was just unacceptable. I will not be returning.

Delicious food, just like in Asia!

Here you can create your own ramen soup. There's a wide selection, and it tastes really delicious. They also have bubble tea! The concept is €2.60 per 100g, meaning you pay for the contents of your chosen soup by the gram (not the sauce). Later, you can add peanuts, herbs, and sesame sauce for free to garnish your meal. One small drawback, or perhaps just part of the authentic experience: you eat and leave. The plates are cleared faster than you can put down your chopsticks/spoon. No Visa or credit cards accepted, only debit cards! Be careful when choosing sauces; anything described as slightly spicy or even just generally spicy is actually extremely hot.

My friend chose less scharf and I chose sehr scharf, but it was pretty spicy. Id recommend mittel for a balanced heat. Normally, around €10~13(I added dumplings, so mine was about €13) With bubble tea, the total came to €18.7. Very affordable and tasty! I didn’t expect much from the bubble tea, but it was actually good

A very small malatang restaurant that entices customers with its diverse selection of toppings, noodles, and broths. However, the man at the cash register was extremely rude. The food was full of MSG, and not everything tasted fresh, especially my Chinese mushrooms and vegetable dumplings. My noodles were undercooked and still stuck together. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Extremely disappointing first visit. I went to Jin's House in Darmstadt for the first time today, and the experience was simply frustrating. I didn't know they only accept debit cards – my bowl was already fully prepared. When I tried to pay, nothing worked, and I had to suggest withdrawing cash myself because no one offered me any alternative. So I went outside, walked 15-20 minutes to an ATM, and came back. Then came the next low point: My food was already sitting there, even though no one had asked if I wanted it prepared or if I should wait until I returned. The bowl had cooled down, the meat was tough, and the noodles were completely soggy – inedible. The broth had also almost completely disappeared, leaving only a sad little bit at the bottom. And then, on my second attempt, I suddenly found out that I could also pay with PayPal. Why didn't anyone mention that beforehand? Sending a customer across town on a Sunday when there's a simple digital solution is simply disrespectful – especially for someone like me who works in the restaurant industry and knows how to treat guests. But the absolute worst part was at the checkout: The total was €34.18. The cashier asked me to pay €34.20. It's only two cents, yes – but since when do they just demand completely different amounts at the register? I've never experienced anything like this in all my years in the restaurant business. It just seems unprofessional. In short: Poor communication, bad timing, bad food due to poor planning, and to top it all off, questionable payment processing. For me, this was definitely my first and last visit.

Good service, great atmosphere, unfortunately always quite crowded. I've enjoyed eating there for years, but unfortunately, the food hasn't improved with the rising prices. The meat and pasta are sometimes undercooked, as they save time on preparation. Additionally, you increasingly find things in your bowl, like pieces of "algae" (greens). Unfortunately, it's no longer my favorite restaurant... Tip: Guests come with time! Better a dish with properly cooked pasta and meat.

The menu is varied and the service is very quick. It's a bit pricey compared to a regular restaurant, but you can choose all the ingredients yourself.

Decent food, but thry claim to takr cards but when you try and pay with a debit card they don't accept it and walk you to an ATM that charges a flat 5€ fee. Basically a scam, I wouldn't be surprised if they get rent from that atm company.

I found out about the restaurant through TikTok and had only eaten Malatang in Frankfurt before, and I loved it. Unfortunately, the broth is inedible, and the hygiene leaves a lot to be desired. The man at the cash register is also, unfortunately, incredibly unfriendly.

For me, on my first visit, and at peak time (Saturday lunchtime), it was quite confusing. Not the ideal place for people who suffer from sensory overload, but my companion said it was very authentic. Importantly, as one of the employees pointed out to us, the spice level is always an understatement; even "not spicy" is spicy! The food was very good, but it's easy to overestimate the amount. I also had my first bubble tea here. My companion said I should use a maximum of 60% sweetener, because people tend to overdo it. Here, I actually had to sweeten it, which wasn't a problem (super nice), and there were lots and lots of bubbles! A great experience, except for one employee who was a bit snarky at first when I asked how it worked, and she just pointed me, annoyed, to one of the countless signs. I personally would have liked it if there had been some kind of standard/recommendation or a traditional combination. I recommend that anyone who is easily overwhelmed do their research beforehand.

A great little malatang where you can put together your meal from a very large selection of different vegetables, meats, and seafood, which is then charged by weight. There's also a very wide selection of different soups as a base, which can quickly become very spicy. The whole experience is rounded out by an extensive range of different drinks and, above all, very pleasant and attentive service.

This ramen restaurant is completely overrated. The reception is disastrous: No Visa or Mastercard payments accepted, only German cards. The prices are exorbitant for clearly frozen products still in frozen containers. The supposedly halal meat isn't certified. Taste: A torture for anyone with a modicum of taste. Even ordering "not too spicy," it burned my mouth and the dish had to be remade. Takeout? You have to pack the food yourself... I've never experienced anything like it 😂 On top of that: I had diarrhea for two days after eating it and will be seeing a doctor to have it checked for possible bacteria. In short: A disastrous experience from start to finish, absolutely unworthy of the good reviews.

Unfortunately, it's not only expensive here, but vegetarian ingredients cost exactly the same as meat. Also, there was a short, thick hair in my food twice. Even though I communicated this, no compensation or anything was offered. After the second time, I decided not to come back. The staff is also consistently quite unfriendly. When I was charged incorrectly once, the staff made me feel like it was my fault! Please ensure the quality of the food and the staff, then I might come back.

It just didn't taste good, especially for the price. I felt nauseous shortly afterward. The ingredients were very poorly separated. If I had allergies, this restaurant would be a surefire way to trigger them. Update: I struggled with stomach cramps all night. Never again.

HAIR & ANIMALS IN THE FOOD – NEVER AGAIN! Generally, I would rate the taste and selection of ingredients five stars. Unfortunately, today's visit was definitely my last. My colleagues and I have eaten here regularly, even weekly. A few weeks ago, I had a hair in my soup. They offered me a new one, but since I didn't have the time or much appetite to make it, I was given a €5 voucher instead. I thought the team cared about quality, so I gave the restaurant a second chance. For a while, everything was fine until today – shortly before finishing my soup – I found a SMALL COCKROACH (!) in my food. I showed it to the owner, who at first couldn't believe what he saw. After I pointed out that I actually like coming here often, and that I've had a hair in my food before, I got my money back this time, along with another €5 voucher. For me, however, the matter is CLOSED. Neither I nor my colleagues will ever visit this restaurant again. What a pity! After such incidents, our trust in the establishment is now zero!

Authentic Chinese noodle soups that you can put together yourself with a wide selection of options (including vegan and vegetarian options). The soup is often a bit salty, but otherwise incredibly delicious. The price is based on weight, making it very reasonable. The bubble tea is also very tasty! Orders are processed quickly, and the wait is a maximum of five minutes, even when the restaurant is full. More tongs for the individual ingredients would be good. A soup ordering service would be great. I visit the restaurant weekly these days.

i heard there was a tiny mouse in a bowl of a costumer. it’s truly dangerous and unhygienic. I was also a regular customer there, but after the story: NOPE!

The problem with this restaurant is that they also focus on cramming all their customers into this limited space. It's claustrophobic. I don't know how busy it usually is, but after my third visit, it's even more crowded, with many tables remaining empty and taking up a lot of space. Regarding the food, I have to admit that I first visited the restaurant in Frankfurt. That's where I first tried the Malatang concept and was fascinated. Maybe my taste buds are used to the food and now have a high standard, but unfortunately, after every visit, I have huge problems using the restroom the next day. Furthermore, it's the only Malatang in Darmstadt, and since I'm studying here, it's the only choice I have. The milk tea, on the other hand, is good; the only problem is that it comes in a plastic container that's a bit difficult to pierce with a straw. Unfortunately, you can't award something like half stars on Google, otherwise this would be a 3.5/5 for me, but there's potential for improvement if the "food" is made more digestible and more space is created!

The food is delicious, but the service and staff are a disaster.

My absolute favorite restaurant in all of Germany. Unfortunately, I no longer live in Darmstadt and now live more than 400km away. I'm proud to say: so far, no one has come close to Jin's House for me. All the best to you! Every visit to Darmstadt automatically means Jin's House for me, now living in Leipzig. 😋

I ordered a broth that wasn't spicy and got a very spicy one. When I mentioned it, they just said, "That's just how broth is." No goodwill at all, never again.

As a vegetarian, I have to say: it's delicious! Pretty good, in fact! Great selection of vegetables. A bit boring selection of tofu and meat substitutes. I found the kimchi broth very tasty. The taro bubble tea was also delicious!

Best bang for your buck in Darmstadt! Great variety of ingredients and soup options at very great prices. I do wish they offered pork slices, but overall, everything was excellent. The bubble tea is also amazing—we love all the Thai milk tea series and suggest not to reduce the sweetness level.

Today I went to Jin's house again after a long time to eat some delicious soup. I usually take my soup to go. I usually order the original broth, which isn't usually considered spicy but is still spicy. Today, however, I got a really spicy broth that was just yellow like curry and didn't taste at all like it usually does. It was so inedible and the worst thing is that this soup cost me almost €22. Now I have a terrible stomach ache and I don't want to know what it's like for someone who can't stand spicy food and is served soup like that. Please be careful before you lose your money. It's a shame, I used to love eating there but that's over from today onwards.

There was very little choice of vegetables, and without pork, there was hardly anything either, so it was more of a tragedy for me. Friendliness was also almost nonexistent. I felt like I was intruding. The broth was spicy, even though I used regular broth. I definitely won't be back.

Warning🚨: This restaurant REMOVES reviews with three or fewer stars!! The value for money is disappointing; mediocre food at a completely overpriced price. What particularly bothers me is the restaurant's name, which is a clear swear word in Chinese! Definitely vulgar and not at all funny! Even worse is the way the restaurant responds to critical reviews—especially those in Chinese—arrogant, disrespectful, and downright stupid. That's no way to handle criticism!

Such a fun place to have dinner in Darmstadt. It is probably one of the places I frequent more here, and it is for a reason. The food is amazing, you have to pick the raw ingredients you want, and they cook them on your desired sauce. Beware of asking for spicy sauces, they are really spicy. If it is your first time, and you don’t like spicy food, ask for the original sauce, and if you enjoy spicy food, ask for the light spicy specialitat sauce. Also do not take too many food if it is your first time, take one or two pasta blocks, and then put whatever you desire, vegetables, meat, tofu. Everything is amazing. If you like bubble teas, they are also amazing here!

Don't forget to check your price!! A small potion without a drink cost €19.19. But it doesn't taste good at all (I ordered soup no. 17/new flavor/not spicy) 😫

This is something completely different!! Highly recommended. Warning: Medium is really hot 🌶️ You can simply mix your own soup here. It's then cooked and served deliciously.

Super expensive. You need to spend at least 10.5€ to eat here. Most of the time the weight of the bowl goes over €15. You have to select your own food in the bowl and choose a soup. They prepare it within 2-3 minutes and it's super hot. All the items you choose are healthy but the way they warm it isn't.

Nice place for Chinese noodles, but it is a bit warm for summer.

I really, really like going there!! The food is really delicious and there's a huge selection of ingredients. There should be something for everyone. I don't see how anyone could complain about the price here, as everything is always fresh. You always get full :)... Unfortunately, there is just one thing that bothers me a little. I've had a fly or a small beetle in my food almost every time :/. The broth means there's no risk, but it's obviously very unappetizing. I don't blame the restaurant, though, as they have an open kitchen, so it's inevitable that a small insect will end up in your food every now and then. Maybe I've just been unlucky so far. Nevertheless, I will keep coming back in the future.

Disrespectful staff, calling others in another language insults such as 'fat'. You cannot enjoy food at all with people like those. Fix your attitude and learn to server others instead of talking bad about others in another language, thinking they won't understand.

I would definitely recommend it without the spice!

After cycling 40km just to eat here, we realized that Jin's Haus also has a place in Frankfurt... my goodness! But it was worth it because this is a truly amazing place! I expected a lot and got a lot. Exceptionally delicious. The only problem is that with such a great selection, you get very greedy and eat way too much, and then you get a food coma... (see photo)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I go to Jin's Haus in Darmstadt at least once a week – and for good reason! The selection is huge: fresh meat, fish, vegetables – all top quality. The dishes are authentic and truly delicious. You can simply taste the love that goes into the cooking. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive, which makes every visit a pleasant experience. A little tip for those who don't like spicy food: Even "medium" or "mild" can be quite spicy here – even I, who isn't normally sensitive to spice, was surprised. Nevertheless, it was super delicious, and I'm already looking forward to the next time!

Got the dry noodles, was okay... not the best I've tried but soup was great!

A unique shop with the perfect dishes for the colder seasons (but also year-round for some people!). I've eaten there at least once a month for the past three years, whether with friends or casually on my own. Unfortunately, hygiene has deteriorated somewhat recently; the shop and kitchen are obviously too chaotic, there are too many staff members milling around, and sometimes it even smells strange, which, for me as a regular, is incompatible with the typical aroma of the spices. Unfortunately, this is confirmed by frequent gastrointestinal complaints after eating, at least in my experience and among people I know. I request more attention to hygiene.

The staff is arrogant and the way they are treated is unfortunately disgusting. If there are misunderstandings, no one can help. Therefore I would never go there again and highly recommend looking for other options.

Super! We ate here today and can only recommend it! A huge selection of fresh produce, whether meat, fish or vegetables. Also very friendly staff, authentic cuisine and of course very tasty food! A quick note: I ordered slightly spicy for soup and poof! She had it all. And this despite the fact that I'm usually pretty insensitive to spiciness. But as I said, still super tasty and great quality!

I come around 3pm so there were only 4 other customers, I heard this place could become very packed on lunch/dinner time. Here's what we ordered: 1. 麻辣燙(Spezialität) was very nice and the flavor was authentic. my friend ordered leicht scharf level (微辣) the numb of szechuan pepper is there but it wasn't overwhelming at all, a bit too salty. 2. Tomyum Goong (咚蔭功） Compare to hai di lao tomyum soup, this one kinda less sour (from lime)but the freshness is still there. I will say this is on the milder side of tomyum. Overall the taste was good but different than the normal tomyum soup you'd have in thai restaurants or hdl. 3. 乾麻辣 （Mala mix, dry mala) I usually like this the most but i made mistake ordering leicht scharf (微辣) it becomes too sweet and i barely taste the 麻辣. My ramen noodle is also overcooked so it didn't taste great. My friend said she never saw anyone ordering dry mala here before so maybe they weren't the best at it but I'll give another shot and try mittel scharf next time （中辣） if that's still to sweet too, I'll probably recommend to stick to their Spezialität. other information: they can customize the broth to your dietary restrictions such as vegan or muslim friendly (halal) asian tip: - rice is only 1.5€ and the portion is big so if you want to eat cheap, just pick dry ingredients and share the bowl with your friend (minimum order was 10€ per bowl) - Try to avoid wet ingredients (udon, fresh beef etc) because they're heavy from the absorbed water. I squeeze my tofu to reduce some weights 😂 - don't forget to add condiments my favorite are fried shallots and 香菜 (corriander (?))

Been here a lot now. It is always very busy and very crowded. You take a bowl, put what you would like in it, it is then weighed at the counter and you order the broth you would like, pay and wait until the beeper goes off. The price is actually a bit expensive, but the taste is really tasty, so full marks, even despite the rather poor service, which does what it's supposed to do, but isn't extremely friendly.

Food is good. Malatang is a good option for Darmstadt. The store would be larger so that more guests could sit. I like lotus roots and okra. Mushrooms or lemon as a sauce. I only tried bubble tea once and it wasn't particularly good for me. Cost of drinks are almost same as in Asian market. Of course a bit more expensive.

Disappointing value for money despite good cuisine We recently visited the restaurant and were quite impressed by the quality of the food. The soup tasted excellent and was served very quickly. However, the positive impression was greatly marred by the service and the price-performance ratio. The service seemed unmotivated and was unfortunately not very accommodating. In addition, empty bowls remained on the table for a noticeably long time, which further worsened the overall impression of the visit. However, the price was particularly disappointing: we already paid €53 for two medium-sized soups without drinks. With a bubble tea and a bottle of water the bill ended up being €71. Given the portion size and the simple nature of the dish, this price seems unreasonably high. Overall, the negative aspects outweigh the negative aspects for us, which is why we will stay with this one-off visit. If you expect excellent service and a fair price-performance ratio, you probably won't get your money's worth here.
