China-Restaurant Hang-Zhou in Dessau-Roßlau

Hello dear Googlers, I was there with my family on Thursday lunchtime. So, this is about the lunch buffet. My little one is 7, and the price is out of the ordinary at €10. It's simply too expensive. My question isn't about the selection, which is good. My question is, why, after many visits and experiences, I simply like "chicken with fries" best...? My attempt at an explanation: The people working in the kitchen use "European" or "German" seasoning. Why? The food doesn't taste Asian in my opinion: curry, turmeric, ginger... It's so easy. If you know how to do it and do it. The average guest from Dessau and the surrounding area doesn't notice and gives it 5 stars. Asia is different. I wouldn't recommend it.

We ate buffet food here for the first time today. The selection was absolutely fine. There was plenty of choice for us. There was something for every taste. It's really very clean, too. The staff are on the ball when it comes to clearing, keeping the food clean, and refilling the food. It's not very busy on a Tuesday evening, of course. A very relaxed and quiet atmosphere. We wouldn't eat there on the weekend because of the large number of guests. So, it was a lovely, quiet evening. Absolutely excellent value for money. We'd be happy to come back. Thank you.

The Chinese Restaurant Hang Zhou in Dessau is definitely worth a visit! We were there for dinner and tried the buffet. The selection was huge and the food was delicious. There was a wide variety of meat, seafood, and vegetarian dishes. We especially enjoyed the fresh sushi. #krollfotografie

We went for dinner today on a whim because the food has always been very tasty and the buffet selection was quite extensive. However, I agree with the reviews here; the quality has noticeably declined. The fries were hard and cold (even though it was only 12:15 p.m. – perhaps from yesterday?), unfortunately, the duck was also quite dry, and the food in general was very salty. I can't really recommend the restaurant at the moment, which I think is a shame. Perhaps a renovation would be in order; the ambiance is showing its age and is quite boring. That's my impression, anyway.

Update July 2025: It's been a while since we've been here. This time we had the option of sitting outside on the terrace. The seating is very pleasant, but the floor is in desperate need of a facelift, especially in the entrance area. The service was very prompt and polite, although there must have been some communication problems. Although I ordered by the number, my menu was clearly missing the "8 Treasures." This didn't detract from the overall good taste, but it simply wasn't what I ordered. The portions have become so small that they no longer bear any resemblance to the significantly increased prices. Things used to be very different and somehow contradicts Asian hospitality. Fearing that they'll sell even smaller plates, we'll try the buffet on our next visit. Nevertheless, overall, it was still a pleasant experience. *** This restaurant is very popular among Dessau residents. For several years now, they have offered a very extensive buffet in addition to the à la carte dishes. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the service is friendly. In summer, in addition to the restaurant, you can also enjoy the winter garden and a spacious terrace. The food is very good. The prices are still reasonable. Update (July 2023): The days of generous portions at this restaurant are unfortunately over for some time now; they have become significantly smaller. Even the updated tableware doesn't change that. What really bothers me personally is the large amount of damaged dishes that are currently being used. Unfortunately, that doesn't make a good impression at all. Update (October 2023) Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I found the portions a bit more generous today, despite the smaller plates. Mind you, I didn't notice any broken ones today. The quality, taste, and staff are still very good.

Never again. My friends and I got terrible stomach cramps from pineapple while eating. The sushi was drier than my burnt toast. A candle glass wasn't on our table, and we were accused of stealing even though we didn't even have anything to put it in. The staff is arrogant and demands tips. The food quality leaves a lot to be desired, as it's usually cold, dry, or probably even past its best-before date. Not recommended. Almost €20 for all-you-can-eat and almost no wide selection. I'd rather go to another Chinese restaurant. At least they can prepare something extra, and the staff always asks if there's anything instead of a really rude "Plate?" I hope the health department will take a look at the situation there. The bathroom is unhygienic, and you can't get extra napkins. And the restaurant doesn't skimp on soap either. Topping up water isn't hygienic for a restaurant.

The holiday buffet was unfortunately disappointing. Most of the food was cold and for 18 euros there wasn't much choice. The only side dish was beans; there were no other vegetables to be found anywhere. Not suitable for vegetarians. There is also no dish with tofu. You won't find the typical baked bananas here either; there were pieces of banana that were tossed in a chocolate sauce. Cannot be compared with other Chinese. Out of 7 people, not one person was satisfied. It used to be a good restaurant, but I really can't recommend it. We usually love peanut sauce but this sauce was very tasteless.

I am very disappointed with this restaurant. The waiters are unfriendly and bad-tempered. The selection of Chinese food is very small and the ambience is not inviting either. Unfortunately, food from the buffet is often only lukewarm. As soon as you arrive, they are already standing there asking you what you would like to drink. I also don't think it's nice that dogs are allowed to lie next to you at the table. It has slowed down quite a bit.

My husband and I know the restaurant from our childhood and youth and used to eat there very often. We've been there again for a long time now and it will probably be the last time. Despite the buffet set up, we wanted to eat á la carte, which the waitress seemed to dislike. In general, the service was very cold, taciturn and not very hospitable. My husband's Peking soup only tasted like pepper, and way too much. No other flavor. Just pepper. It then went back after a few spoonfuls. There was little understanding. We were still charged in the end. The main course (G1 and G3) was partially burnt, the vegetables (onions and sprouts) under the meat were completely raw and unseasoned, and the sauce served with it tasted of nothing. The meat only tasted like old oil and was completely soaked with it. Not edible. It's such a shame what this wonderful restaurant has become. The formerly chic interior had to give way to the cheapest furniture and the then very good, aromatic food is now just inferior mass production. Unfortunately we can no longer recommend it.

I was passing through and discovered Hang Zhou. In short the food is mediocre. Especially the dessert was really bad. A lot of things aren't fresh and you can tell a lot of it comes from the freezer. The service is really unfriendly… disappointed and we won't eat here again.

Eating à la carte seems to be undesirable these days. My wife and children chose buffet food, I chose a dish from the menu. Unfortunately, after 2 hours there was still no service where I could have placed my order, the shop was empty and someone constantly came by and put me off. In the end the waitress was surprised that I didn't get any food and there was no apology. We used to be regular customers, but today was my last visit there. Only mass processing and no more service. Luckily there are other Chinese restaurants

We were completely satisfied. The buffet wasn't huge, but it was completely sufficient and food was always available. The food was delicious, the atmosphere outside by the koi pond was very nice and the service was friendly. Very happy again.

Unfortunately, if you're looking for authentic Chinese cuisine, this isn't the right place either. There are the typical dishes of the Asian snack bars that are widespread in eastern Germany, such as baked chicken, crispy sweet and sour duck or fried noodles, which you can combine yourself. In addition, there are a few exotic meat variants and a variety of vegetables, so that everyone can put together a suitable main course. The restaurant also provides sushi in the All U Can Eat format, which understandably cannot compete with the quality of a Japanese sushi restaurant. In general, the key word here is the more than fair price-performance ratio. Also when it comes to drink prices. In addition to the main course buffet, the restaurant impresses with a wide selection of dessert variations, ranging from Jell-O, a chocolate fountain, ice cream and various fruit varieties. The size of the restaurant and the large number of people quickly create an enormous noise level and a somewhat uncomfortable atmosphere that doesn't invite you to linger. However, due to the business model, this can hardly be avoided if you want to continue to offer fair prices.

....always my pleasure. The buffet is delicious, plentiful and even vegans can find something to eat. The sushi?! Oh well. 5/6 years ago I was thrilled. Of course, after I went to a real sushi restaurant, I'm now spoiled and it doesn't appeal to me that much anymore. But it's always a matter of taste and, as we all know, taste can be debated 😉

Bitter disappointment. Dinner buffet with empty bowls and dried rice. No desert offer. Broken floorboards on the terrace and absolutely poor service. Never again!!!!

We visited here and were so disappointed. I've never seen such a bad buffet. No sushi, lukewarm dishes, the rice crunches as if it was mixed with raw rice. The salad bar only has a handful of vegetables from each. There was no fish, the mushrooms were disgusting, so the can was warmed up quickly. So the pictures from the site don't match what we found at all. Ultimately not recommended. The best thing is the pond in front of the front door

When I arrived, my wife and I were served straight away and we had about 30 seconds. Time to look for something to drink, then we went to the “buffet” where, after eating once, you can get something straight away. The entire buffet had a small selection and no sushi… the noodles were oily and there was no sweet and sour sauce, especially a lot of cutlery the ice cream bowls weren't really clean. Price performance not good (my opinion) staff was friendly. You have to know.
