China Restaurant Bon Sai in München

A shop where you immediately feel at home, as you would expect in a Chinese restaurant. Food was also really delicious. The staff was just a bit grim and not really friendly, but not rude either!

Even though I said I wanted chicken I got beef, I only wanted broccoli and still got all the other vegetables. And despite me saying the spring roll was vegetarian, there was meat in it. Never again

A very good restaurant where local Chinese also like to eat. It is advisable to order several small dishes to share. These can be found further back on the menu under 'traditional cuisine' with pictures. Highly recommended the beef with brokoli. The food came very quickly, except for a colleague who they had apparently forgotten. It has the standard Chinese restaurant feel. Everything is chic, but nothing special, except for the small indoor pond. Parking is available directly behind the restaurant. Everything is clean, although not quite as modern. The three of us paid 80 EUR (a total of 4 dishes to share and 6 drinks) - absolutely fair.

On September 11th, 2024 we were at "Bon sai". The food was good, it took a while and the restaurant got full pretty quickly. Had starters of prawn soup and spring rolls. The cucumber salad tops with yogurt sauce. Then crispy duck with mushrooms and chicken in coconut milk sauce, with rice. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was great, light music from China and in front of us in the restaurant there was a pond in which koi carp were swimming. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance, or be the first in front of the door at 5:30 p.m. like us :-) the price of €60 is completely fine.

I used to eat there very often and was always satisfied. Ordered food there for pickup twice now. The duck wasn't crispy, the peanut sauce was stretchy, thin and strangely nonsensical, and the chicken was sweet and sour as well. Worst Chinese food I've ever had. It's a shame... what's going on?

Typical Chinese restaurant, nicely decorated with a friendly team. Well-stocked food and drink selection. The food came quickly, was very good and plentiful. In terms of price, it is in the midfield for Munich. Special lunch menu plentiful and good for a reasonable price. To recommend. There are few dedicated parking spaces, but you can find some in the area.

Every year, due to a lack of alternatives, the day comes when I think to myself: it couldn't have been that bad: - The fried noodles were favorably rated mediocre. - The curry is a spicy coconut milk with no taste - The fish a large fried greasy tasteless fish stick that robbed my son and I of sleep one night This review as a reminder to mlch: The money and your sleep are not worth it.

If you drive past, don't stop, don't look for a parking space. By far the worst meal. Slapped carelessly and tastelessly. First dish: number 27 Crispy duck with peanut sauce. The peanut sauce is gray, looks like too thinly mixed concrete and I'm sorry, it tastes like that too. The duck was not crispy as described but white and soft, too much cartilage and too dry. The second dish: number 25 Crispy duck with vegetable Thai curry sauce. The duck was crispy but dry like the Gobi desert. The vegetables consisted of 3 green beans, half a mushroom and some red pepper. The whole thing in a much too thin watery Thai curry sauce. The only good thing was the rice and it wasn't salted. Too bad about the money. I can recommend any other restaurant. Away quickly.

The food at this Chinese restaurant was very good and the menu had a lot of choice. The portions were also very generous. The ambience is harmonious and pleasant. Overall, a recommended place for Chinese food.

*** You can go there every 4-5 years *** The menu is classic, as you would expect from a traditional Chinese restaurant in Germany. Great selection. Unfortunately, my dish (Shop Suey Rind) had little flavor and after a while the oil settled on the edge of the plate. Way too much fat and not enough flavor! The meat was very tender and freshly prepared, so it was a shame. The hot and sour soup was thickened with far too much starch so that the spoon almost stood up on its own; and the egg in it was lumpy and not mixed in finely. The Hoi Sin sauce as well; As soon as it cooled down a bit, it became almost firm. The duck that came with it was tender and crispy. In my opinion, the satay dish doesn't belong on the menu (Indonesian) and was therefore not traditionally tasty. The spring roll looked like good convenience food, frozen and then fried. Not really crispy or even hand rolled. Service was very nice and attentive. The ambience is a bit old, but clean... you can save the rating slips in the "old" place card or just replace them... the card on the table with soy and sambal looks unsightly...

When checking out, I paid for my meal with a card and planned to leave a tip in cash. But when the waitress thought I wasn't going to tip her, she threw my card hard on the table. She won't get a tip from me and I won't be coming back.

It seems rare to find a Chinese restaurant nearby that produces this level of flavor. Many people visited after making reservations in advance. The employees are also friendly and nice. However, we had to wait a long time to eat after ordering. And depending on the food, some were seasoned a little salty. While waiting, we talked to each other. We recommend ordering several menu items and eating them around a round table. If one person orders one menu item, it is difficult to experience a variety of foods.

I am a regular customer of this restaurant and normally should have given it five stars. But the new waitress pushed me to pay the bill halfway through my meal, which really confused me. I have lived in Germany for seven or eight years and have never experienced anything so outrageous.

An incredible selection of dishes, really fair prices, a plum wine first, very large portions and card payment possible, sounds like the perfect restaurant. Sometimes less is more but unfortunately the taste was only average. I missed the fine-tuning, something special, but given the price I don't want to complain, because more simply costs more. The ambience is a bit out of date and therefore quite interesting again. Also very interesting as a film backdrop for one of our next film shoots.

Went there again recently for lunch. Unfortunately it's not as good as it used to be, but it's significantly more expensive. My wife then had a stomach ache, possibly from the Peking soup. It's a shame, we loved being there just a few years ago.

Were there at 9 p.m., but easily found a place. Had the classic roast duck with various Chinese vegetables. Was well prepared, rice a bit too dry. Service was nice and quick. Can't complain and was full.

The young waiter was really friendly. It could be cheaper if you select 3 main dishes instead of the menu for 3, plus there is rice refill...

Wow, it's never been this bad. 2 wrong meals were brought, with 6 people, if you say "not spicy please" you can chip off a bottom with it, when you ordered after the meal (espresso etc) the latte machiato came without machiato. So unfortunately I can't recommend this restaurant, sorry 😕

Food was cold, sauce very watery, consistency very strange. The waitress was very rude when paying and she simply kept the change as her tip. Although that wasn't mentioned in a word.

The food at the Bonsai restaurant is good, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. The ambience could be a bit more upscale, especially considering the prices.

Food good, rooms cramped, no barrier-free toilets - this is stated incorrectly here. Little parking behind the house. Otherwise everything is ok.

Very good food, one of the best Chinese I know. Price performance is simply top and the boss of the restaurant is a kind-hearted person. I enjoy being a guest in the restaurant and always go there when I'm nearby since I don't live in Munich. Highly Recommended! :-)

Ein gemütliches Restaurant mit großen Portionen. Wir waren zu zweit abends da und haben für 2 Jasmintees, 2 Pekingsuppen und 2 heiße platten 55€ bezahlt. Das Essen war durchschnittlich aber lecker. Die Portionen ziemlich groß, sodass wir ein drittel einpacken lassen haben. Das Personal war flink und bemüht. Das Ambiente typisch etwas überdekoriert nach unserem Geschmack und sauber.

Das Essen war mal vor vielen Jahren besser , suppe habe ich lauwarm bekommen als ich die Bedinung daruf hingewiesen habe habe ich als Antwort bekomme "ich hätte doch immer etwas zu meckern" ich weiß ja nicht ob das der Spirit in dem Laden ist, die Kunden nieder zu machen bei einer Beschwerde, meiner Meinung nach sollte man nicht so bei Kunden die mal Stammgäste waren so reagieren ! Ich werde dieses Lokal in Zukunft wirklich meiden ,München ist ja nicht gerade klein also wird sich ein anderes Chinesisches Restaurant finden, in dem es besser sein wird . Bei dem alten Chef Herr Fu hätte das so nicht gegeben der wusste noch wie man Gäste behandelt.

Very family friendly restaurant with great food and great people! First time mom to a little baby that wouldn’t stop crying at the restaurant and the people there were so friendly and welcoming, reassuring me that it’s what babies do and that I don’t need to apologise for it. A sweet waitress even gave me advice and held my baby while I ate. I haven’t seen my family in years since I moved here, so for a brief moment, I felt like I was at home. The food is of course delicious!

Schon viele Chinesen ausprobiert aber keiner ist so gut wie dieser. Wir gehen gerne dort hin und ich kann das Restaurant nur empfehlen.

Bedienungen waren sehr überfordert, aber kann ich verstehen, weil der Laden echt voll war. Das Essen war seht gut, selten so gut gegessen!

Essen kam schnell und war soweit gut. Allerdings fragte uns die Bedienung, nachdem wir gegessen hatten, wir aber noch eine volle Flasche Wasser auf dem Tisch stehen hatten, ob wir nicht bald gehen würden?! Das empfanden wir als einen Rausschmiss und als sehr unhöflich uns als Gäste gegenüber. So etwas hab ich noch nicht erlebt...in keinem Restaurant. Daher würde ich keine Empfehlung für dieses Restaurant aussprechen. Nichts um einen gemütlichen Abend dort zu verbringen...falls man das vorhat.

Essen ist echt gut. Die Bedinungen sind unorganisiert und sprechen kaum deutsch, was eine Bestellung eher schwierig macht. Die Einrichtung ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen und wirkt abgenutzt.

authentic Chinese cuisine and always crowded

Ein kleines aber sehr gutes Restaurant mit einer außergewöhnlichen Speisekarte. Nicht nur die freundliche und aufmerksame Bedienung, auch das Ambiente und vor allem die sehr guten Gerichte machen den Besuch hier zu einem entspannten Erlebniss. Etwas besonderes ist die Speisekarte, hier findet man nicht nur die üblichen, übrigens sehr guten und preislich sehr vernünftigen, Gerichte. Zusätzlich gibt es original Chinesische Küche, etwas das ich so noch nie gesehen habe.

Wir haben eine leckere Peking Ente gegessen und waren gut zufrieden.

Ich war früher schon öfter hier und fand es immer sehr gut. Leider war es beim letzten Besuch deutlich schlechter. Mein Essen war sehr ölig und hatte wenig Geschmack. Das zweite Gericht war besser, aber leider auch nicht wirklich gut. Ich hoffe, die Qualität der Speisen wird wieder besser

Die Qualität hat leider stark nachgelassen. Wenn die Einkaufspreise und die Energiekosten steigen, lieber die Preise erhöhen als an den Zutaten der Speisen sparen. War seit vielen Jahren unser Lieblingsrestaurant, aber so gehen wir nicht mehr hin.

Sehr leckeres Essen für drei Personen mit Vorspeise gutes Preis Leistung

Asiatische,leckere und üppige Portionen werden auch noch zu später Stunde noch serviert.

Wir waren seit langem mal wieder da - leider hat es und diesmal nicht so gut gefallen. Wir saßen draußen und ich weiß nicht,was es war,aber es hat furchtbar gestunken...waren irgendwo die Mülltonnen hinter einer Ecke?? Generell war der außenberich sehr lieblos gestaltet- keine kissen,tischdeko etc.,die stühle Kreuz & quer...früher war es mal schöner!! Der Service...puh...naja... Wirkte sehr lustlos... kein Teller nachgereicht für den Hauptgang, kein "hat es geschmeckt " ,auf wiedersehen oder dergleichen...schade! Essen war gut, aber service und Ambiente gehören für mich zum Essen gehen auch irgendwie dazu...

Leckes essen und hohes Preis-leistungsverhältnis

Da wir von auswärts sind,war es mit dem Parkplatz finden etwas spannend. Vielleicht die Sträucher verschneiden. Der Service war dafür mega und die Ente genial. Sehr zu empfehlen

Ich kann dieses Restaurant nur empfehlen! Es gibt einen aussen- und einen Innenbereich vom Restaurant. Draussen sieht es wie in einem normalen Biergarten aus aber innen ist die Einrichtung sehr schön gestaltet! Ich persönlich würde es empfehlen innen zu sitzen da es, auch im Sommer, innen schöner ist. Die Kundschaft ist meist chinesisch, was bedeutet das es echten einheimischen dort auch gefällt. Die Portionen waren sehr gross weshalb ich empfehlen würde keine Vorspeise zu nehmen. Das Essen hat aber sehr gut geschmeckt und wir hatten es auch wenige Minuten nachdem wir es bestellt hatten. Das Restaurant hat auch einen Parkplatz!

Seit Jahrzehntrn super Essen aber auch die gleiche Einrichtung, hier könnte mal modernisiert werden

Mir ist Bon Sai schon von früher bekannt und war bisher immer sehr zufrieden. Gestern waren wir zu viert (das erste Mal Samstag Mittags ca 13:45 angekommen) und wurden dann einem Platz zugewiesen, nachdem wir von einer wirklich sehr böse und genervt schauende Bedienung empfangen wurden. Der Blick war echt nicht ohne. Nach ca 15-20min Wartezeit ging einer von uns zu dieser Person und fragte, ob wir nun die Bestellung aufgeben könnten. Da wir wussten, dass sie um 15uhr schließen, wollten wir vorher noch fertig werden. Bestellt wurde 3 Enten aus der Mittagsliste und eine doppelt gebackene aus der Karte. Das Essen kam recht chaotisch. Zuerst 2 Vorspeisen, dann das Essen aus der Abendkarte, danach meine Vorspeise, dann der Reis und die anderen Enten. Der Laden war relativ wenig besucht. Da kann man ja eine etwas bessere zeitliche Koordination erwarten. Die Enten aus dem Mittagsmenu waren sehr zart und eigentlich ganz gut von der Konsistenz. Jedoch zu wenig gewürzt. Der Rest hat eigentlich gepasst, war aber nicht überwältigend. Die Frühlingsrollen sehr gut vom Geschmack, aber eher laprig, statt chross. Die Kommunikation war teilweise sehr schwierig, weil die ältere (mit der "herzlichen" Begrüßung) sehr schlechtes Deutsch sprach. Die zweite Bedienung war sehr nett. Ambiente ist fantastisch. Schade, dass dieser Laden mit so viel Erfahrung, so umgeht, als wenn sie erst vor 2 Wo. geöffnet hätten. Ich werde wieder da essen gehen, und hoffe der Service wird das nächste mal besser.
