Chi Keng in Potsdam

This was certainly the best meal of my life. Starting off with the location which is phenomenal, the service was very professional and the food was great. The waiters were all traditionally dressed Asians who speak good English and German. The portions are really big and the food is of really high quality. Really recommendable!!!

The food didn't match the menu, and when asked about it, they shrugged their shoulders. The wine tasted of cork. The prices were way too high...

It used to be really good. Today, the price-performance ratio is no longer entirely satisfactory. The (new) staff is attentive, but no longer perfect. The food is still plentiful, but the quality is no longer top-notch—especially considering the higher prices.

Here, the price matches the quality of the food. Compared to other restaurants, the prices are a bit higher, but the quality is good. In the summer, you can also eat outside, which makes for a more relaxed dining experience. It can be a bit noisy inside. I found the staff to be friendly.

You have to like the ambiance, but the food is really good. As the saying goes: All's well that ends well.

It was recommended to me several times, we were given a seat and menus, but after 20 minutes, no one still wanted to take our order. We waved several times, but the staff didn't respond and went inside. They quickly cleared the menus away, though, as we were within sight. Two stars because it's a really nice restaurant, and it's been recommended to me many times.

We've been here several times over the past few years because the food and wine were delicious. The service was always friendly and prompt. But on our last visit a few days ago, we decided not to eat here again. The value for money is completely out of whack. We each had a dish with curry sauce. The deep plate the dish is served on is completely unsuitable, as the rice absorbs all the sauce, leaving the rest of the meal quite dry. The duck and fish were good, but we had to order more sauce (as we did before). The dish was described on the menu as "vegetables." Unfortunately, we only found a single piece of broccoli on each of our plates; the rest was green salad. Pure disappointment! The food is otherwise well-seasoned. The portions are generous. The staff are all very friendly and distant. You're not harassed, but subsequent requests are fulfilled immediately. That's how it should be. The juice I ordered, for a whopping €7.80, was sugary sweet, not the kind to quench my thirst! Do they really have to cut costs so much at this restaurant now?! The Italian restaurant next door was packed. Chi Keng wasn't as busy. Apparently, word has gotten around that it's not as good as it used to be. That's such a shame!

Simply overpriced given its central location in Potsdam. The food, unfortunately, wasn't impressive either!

A bit pricey for me, you can't make reservations in advance, and they only give you an audio announcement over the phone. But the noodle soups taste really authentic and good, and the sushi rolls are especially great.

We were a bit surprised by the prices at first, but this was quickly overshadowed by the quantity and quality of the food. Everything is freshly prepared, and you can even see the cooking in the open kitchen. I highly recommend it.

I had one of those rolls (I don't remember the name, it was also the first time I'd ever eaten something like that). I really enjoyed it. The service was quick and friendly, but the dark walls and the backless bench weren't my thing.

Wir waren kurz davor zu gehen, weil wir ignoriert worden sind. Schade daß Restaurant hat eigentlich Potential.

I've been here before during the pandemic and realized that my wages apparently haven't kept pace with the price increases at Chi Keng. Everything is delicious, no question. The service is very friendly and generally averagely motivated. But for a rather meager bowl with a few rice noodles, salad, chicken, and decorative items on a plate the size of a bus driver, almost €24? A homemade iced tea with lime and mint almost €8? A plate of sushi for one €39? One thing is certain: I absolutely have to earn more!

Overall, the best Asian restaurant I know. Definitely on the expensive side, but worth it.

Very delicious food with a direct, beautiful view of Luisenplatz in Potsdam. It's a great place to sit outside. The interior is very modern with an open kitchen, wood, and concrete.

I'm from Potsdam and have been a guest at this restaurant since the beginning. Over time, the quality of the food has declined considerably, but the prices have risen enormously. Yesterday was truly my last visit! The salad was "muddy," and I actually paid €8.80 for a mango lassi!!!!! The music is simply too loud, and if you ask them to turn it down, you get a "tired smile." What a shame, folks, you were actually a recommendation.

We've been coming to CHI Keng regularly for many years. The food used to be absolutely top-notch—a true highlight in terms of taste and quality. In our opinion, it's declined somewhat since then. It's still delicious, but not quite at the same level as it was in the early days. However, the prices have gone up—like everywhere else. 😉. Nevertheless, we still enjoy coming here, even if the "wow" factor of the past is a bit lacking.

Whenever I'm in Potsdam, a visit to Chi Keng has become a must. The food is simply delicious. I'll definitely be back when I'm back. Thank you very much.

This restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The atmosphere is subdued and pleasant. The menu offers something for everyone, and the range of flavors is wide. You'll actually look forward to your meal here, and you won't be disappointed. The portions are generous, and the fresh ingredients are very good.

A must. One of the best and tastiest Asian restaurants I've ever visited (and I get around a lot). It doesn't get much better than this. Been there many times. Unfortunately, the drinks prices are outrageous. 4.80 euros for a bottle of cola is over the top. Also for Potsdam. The star deduction is just for that

Nice place with nice people...had red curry with duck...duck was perfect, the rest of the dish was below average...if I choose a meal for 22 euros, I expect a creamy curry, fragrant rice, a little salad...I got a watery sauce with no taste at all, felt like 1kg of salad, hardly any rice...that was nothing, the same meal is available in Berlin on Schiffbauerdamm 10 euros cheaper and 1000 times cheaper tasty...sorry...

The extremely popular Asian restaurant is particularly busy on weekends. Stylish inside, outside a terrace under old trees on Luisenplatz. Fine dining with corresponding prices, but it's worth it for lovers of very good cuisine. Service is excellent, the only point of criticism is the background music, which you can turn down the volume. Absolutely recommended!

I really liked the service in huge bowls of large dishes. Likewise with great Aperol! The way the dishes are served is a great advantage of this place. We ordered duck and tofu. Unfortunately, the taste is average. Unseasoned tofu (tofu is flavorless). The service was nice, but there was a moment when they rushed us (for which we received an extra drink in compensation) and that is the advantage of this place - people who know what they are doing. Price to quality 3/4. It's worth trying, but I don't recommend vegetarian dishes, they are tasteless.

Yes, relatively expensive, but the quality is good. Lately, however, the sushi hasn't been rolled well. I've experienced better than that. My favorite is the duck. I find the music and volume to be borderline, too loud for me.

Nice restaurant with great dishes. I had salmon - shitake, side mushrooms, avocado - tasted great. Fish and herbs are fresh - you can watch the work in the kitchen. Non-alcoholic drinks are great - lots of fruit. Very nice service, very pleasant atmosphere. Gladly again.

Very modern Vietnamese restaurant with very tasty food. I had Vit Van An - duck on snow peas, king oyster mushroom, Chinese cabbage, soy balsamic vinegar with jasmine rice. The dish was incredibly tasty and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Good service that is quick and attentive. If you're willing to spend more money on really good food and fresh ingredients and like to sit in a modern, stylish environment, this is the place for you 😉.

Top Vietnamese cuisine, the staff is super friendly, helpful and very attentive. The guest is treated there as one would wish. The food is very nicely prepared and tastes really good. The prices have of course changed drastically over the last few years, but are still justified for the quality of the food. 👍😋😋😋

Chi Keng has long been one of the most beautiful restaurants in Potsdam. Unfortunately, today it is (almost) only designed to make as much sales as possible in one evening. After a 200 euro meal for 4 people in 60 minutes, the waiter comes and asks to leave soon because they "still have a reservation". We prefer to remember how things used to be and go somewhere else. Too bad.

Ein sehr guter Freund von mir wohnt in Potsdam - er schlug vor, hier rein zu gehen, auch wenn es nicht ganz billig ist. Wir waren am späteren Nachmittag drin, aber trotzdem war es extrem voll. Service war schnell und freundlich, Essen war sehr gut. Teuer ist es - ja, keine Frage: aber wenn in Potsdam an einem Sonntag um die Zeit ein Laden sehr voll ist, scheint das auch keinen wirklich zu stören.

This is how great Asian food works. High quality and absolutely delicious. The service was very friendly and quick. The portion is very large, only the drinks are a little expensive. The ambience is nice, even with lots of people and music you can have a conversation without any problems - thanks to the soundproofing on the ceiling. A clear recommendation, we will be back.

The operator owns several Asian restaurants, all of which are decorated in a similar style and serve equally good and similar food. There is a very modern charm to electronic music. Anyone who likes that will be happy, anyone who likes it a little more classic and romantic will be less happy here when it comes to the ambience. The food is beyond any doubt, very good in preparation and quality. The prices are just at the acceptable end for what is offered. As a couple, you can easily reach three figures without opening a bottle of wine. In short: good but expensive!

We had heard that this restaurant was good - that was a good prerequisite. When we looked at the menu we were a bit confused at first, the price level was a bit "raised". However, we were able to find that the quality of the food also corresponds to this level without any restrictions. It was very tasty. The ambience is a matter of personal taste - we have difficulties with benches without backrests.

That's really very good. However, if I give 5 stars everywhere, then from my point of view there is nothing better, but there is. The food tastes really good, the service is really nice and not intrusive at all. Maybe I find it quite expensive, but ultimately worth it. The portions are large.

Prices are super cheeky for a watery tom kha and fluff on the sushi. never again.

Vouchers are only accepted with the original receipt. Our voucher was not accepted because it was a copy. The employer who gave the voucher needs the original, so we only had the copy. Extremely annoying, rude! We will never go there again and don't recommend it!

Fick rekommendationen av hotellet bredvid när vi råkat hamna i Potsdam istället för Berlin. Så överraskade vi blev av denna fantastiska Vietnamesiska mat. Om vi kommer i närheten igen kommer vi verkligen att komma tillbaka. Finest Asian kitchen står det utanför restaurangen och det stämmer verkligen. Det enda tråkiga var att vi ätit en senare lunch så vi orkade bara varsin huvudrätt. Vi åt Chi Keng Curry med anka som var helt fantastisk och Ca Hoi Dac Biet med lätt-halstrad Tonfisk av finaste kvalitet. Därtill ett (eller två) glas Vollratz Riesling. Vi kommer tillbaka och lovar att vara hungrigare så att vi även orkar förrätter.

The drinks are now simply overpriced and the way guests are treated when it comes to choosing or assigning seats is sometimes very rude, almost cheeky, considering how much money they are leaving there.

I'll give the location two stars! We wanted to have beautiful weather on October 7th. Sit outside and enjoy the sun. Unfortunately the waiter thwarted our plans. "He would be alone and couldn't serve outside too." He turned down my offer to get the things himself and bring them back in with the words "then everyone would want that." 😱 I didn't know I was such a people magnet. 🤣🤣🤣 It's a shame, but the Spaniard EL BARON opposite was very friendly and the view of the Brandenburg Gate in Potsdam was even better.
