Chaomin-Congee Restaurant in Berlin

Food was okay, no revelation. But definitely too expensive for that. Service seems disinterested and is only semi-friendly. Card payment is specified online - which is what we relied on. Ultimately you can only pay in cash.

Very good restaurant. Unfortunately, they don’t currently offer Xi’an Street Food. We ordered rice soup and spicy crispy chicken legs, which we enjoyed very much.

The food was OK, but the service was a disaster. The waitress was extremely rude, showed no expression and took the menu away from one of us before we had even finished ordering. When it was served, her thumb even stuck in the porridge we ordered! In the end she just kept the change without even asking. Absolutely unprofessional and unhygienic

Overall pretty good. We had the beef satay, fried tofu and duck&run. Portions are good. I would comeback for the beef satay.😍 The fried tofu really good too. The duck&run would not recommend. We where here at 16:00 and kitchen was open. They didn't have other plates when I ordered.

The beef satay & Sichuan dumplings are really incredibly good.

It was a spontaneous visit to the restaurant and I'm so glad we went. I had dumplings as a starter, a flat rice noodle soup with beef and a lemonade. I haven't eaten so well in a long time. I will definitely recommend this small, tastefully decorated restaurant and visit it again!

Honestly not worth it… food was bland, lacking flavor, freshness, the matcha dessert was SOOO dry. The Congee was acceptable but not a food that I will go back and try again there. Very average experience, I would have prefer to spend my money somewhere else

Vegan congee was really good. It was my first time trying it and I definitely see myself returning. Just a note to the restaurant- the menu doesn't specify that the vegan congee has tofu in it, so I ordered a side of tofu, and was later surprised.

We had a lovely evening at Chaomin today. The food really tastes extremely good. Congee is a really healing dish and it was really well prepared and it was a huge portion. From my point of view everything was well paid. The service was a bit poor today, but thanks to the sympathy and unasked-for courtesy, I give it full marks and would definitely come back soon. The dessert was a large portion. I shared these and was still full.

The waitress was dispassionate, but we were able to place our order in the end. The restaurant was empty, but she still kept us waiting for a long time. That wasn't so bad, because my companion and I had time and enough to talk about to pass the time. The food was mediocre, as was our drink and dessert. With Neotaste we received a €10 discount. At least that worked. On the positive side, the interior design was very nice to look at. Except for the big spider webs on the window. 😅

We were here because we discovered the restaurant through neotaste. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. Our two starters (cucumber salad and shrimp and chicken dimsum) were really not good. There was something indefinably hard in one dimsum, the dimsums with shrimp also tasted very fishy and of nothing else. The main courses tasted okay. Nevertheless, we were disappointed because the restaurant otherwise had such good reviews.

easy 5 stars. the place is clean, spacious and smells good. I was feeling cold, really fancy a soup. I saw menu and read "rice soup" and thought "never tried a rice soup before, let's give it a go!". and that was an absolute banger! hopefully I'll be back soon to try something different

The porridge resembles the Hong Kong/Guangzhou/Malaysia/Singapore... congee/ porridge. The pork rice main dish is something to go for. I'm travelling here but I came here twice on my 5 days in Berlin. I will rate this a good restaurant for travelers who wants to fulfill their desire for the porridge/congee after traveling out for long time.

Nothing special just expensive for a disgusting duck and tasteless watery curry with overcooked rice and frozen vegetables. I am sorry if thats not the case, but this is what it tastes like.

If you are a Chinese and it happens that you also love RouJiaMo/Xi’An Burger, I would like to tell you this restaurant provides as good as you could have in Xi’An. I saw LiangPi had bad comments already, I also tried, the comments are valid :P I give 5 stars for RouJiaMo/Xi’An Burger only.

2 ⭐️ I visited this restaurant after seeing their advertisement on social media. Unfortunately, the experience didn't meet expectations. The service staff seemed indifferent and could have been more courteous. The food, particularly the Liang Pi (cold skin noodles) and congee, fell short of traditional standards - I couldn't finish my meal due to the unsatisfactory taste. While I appreciate their effort to provide authentic cuisine, there's significant room for improvement in both food quality and service.

ONLY CASH! Mixed reviews, a couple of the dishes like the chaomin congee and pork belly dish were good, but the others were average. Not too bad, but no wow factor for me.

Friendly staff but I was dissapointed by the food. They offer Szechuan Chicken which is supposedly "very spicy" as one would expect from a Szechuan dish, however in reality it had barely any spice and it tasted more like sweet chilly sauce and it was a rather small portion. Also it was very cold in there.

We tried the seafood congee pot, it was terrible. You are warned. Some seafood provided was considered fresh, so it is not about the quality of the seafood. The congee broth is difficult to explain, it is just bad on our opinion. What a waste to the seafood. Service was quite friendly. Meat burger was no up to my expectations, I have been there for the burger, but this time the meat should not taste sauer. Time to pay, we found a 12€ surcharge, the waitress claim it is for the hotpot. It was not communicated properly or stated in the menu.

What a disappointment, I've eaten here a few times. But today when I ordered food to be delivered to my home, the dish I ordered was "Chao Min" but when I received the order it was Chao with minced meat, the bread that came with it smelled like it in the fridge. Chao is very salty and the amount is very small.

Guys, you have to do something with the food. I heard about that place from my friend, so the other day decided to try it. I ordered sichuan chicken, from the description expected it to be crispy but it wasn’t at all. And the taste of the dish was weird for me, so for that one I can rate only 4/10. The fried udon was a little bit better, but still we couldn’t enjoy our meal. I heard that they have tasty chao, so maybe we ordered wrong dishes to try.

I didn’t know about such authentic Liangpi! It’s so delicious, the roujiamo is also delicious😋 and my favorite porridge... finally I don’t need to drink drinks. I tried the beef version this time. I’ll check out other flavors next time

Ordered M10 from the lunch menu to take away from home. I paid 9.50 instead of 8.50, even though the pho only contained a bit of Chinese cabbage, a few pieces of pak choi and tofu and 3 zucchini strips. Also cash only. There are better places in the area for good Pho.

I would like to express my deep concern about the lack of food safety of your products. It is completely unacceptable that the food you delivered arrived in an unhygienic condition. Specifically, I ordered two bowls of porridge, both of which had a sour taste and a distinctly unpleasant smell, indicating spoiled food. This poses a serious threat to consumer health and is a clear indication that the food has been stored improperly for a long period of time. What is particularly concerning is that this is the second time such an incident has happened to me with your restaurant. This gross negligence must be remedied immediately. It is of the utmost importance that you take immediate action to ensure that such an incident does not occur again. Hygiene and safety standards in the food industry must be strictly adhered to in order not to endanger the health of your customers. I would also like to strongly advise other potential customers to exercise extreme caution when considering ordering from your restaurant. Consumer safety and health should always come first.

A wonderful small, uncomplicated, cozy restaurant with ultra delicious Chinese and Vietnamese food. We were here today for the fourth time in the last five weeks and have always tried different dishes - starters and main courses. It always has us! tasted very good. Really fresh, high-quality vegetables, delicious meat and fish. Super tasty sauces. Everything was really well prepared. We are very excited and would like to thank the chef and the entire, super nice team. Stay with us for a long time!

It looks much better on the pictures here than in person which was disappointing. The food wasn't that good either~ the rice was too sticky and not well cooked so I couldn't enjoy it that much. The food was okay but nothing interesting as well as the Homemade drink. I wouldn't go there back again. But the waitress was very kind~😊

The food is delicious, and on top of that offer generous portions at a low price so a great value for money. My wife and I have been here a few times and have loved everything we’ve tried. I’m a vegetarian and she’s an omnivore, and both have several options. Great spot.

SUCH a lovely surprise, this place. Portion sizes were great, and the food so flavourful! Great selection of dishes, all at very reasonable prices. We shared 4 tapas as starters / sides: kimchi, cucumber salad, tofu, wontons. They were all so delicious and filling, with fresh ingredients. The aubergine main was huge, crispy and soft at the same time, soo so yum. "Hot duck" was definitely spicy & really delicious too. Overall huge amounts of food, would recommend ordering a little less unless you're as hungry as we were.

VIetnamese place with congee and a bunch of Vietnamese classics. Never had congee before, so my Chinese friend took me here, was honestly very satisfied with just about everything. Delicious wonton soup, amazing congee and a perfect black sticky rice mango dessert. Props to what I assume was the owner, super sweet lady that only made our dining experience better!

Really nice atmosphere with beautiful and friendly staff. Marion is especially very nice to talk with. Very good chicken wings I’ve had there and the coffee is also excellent! Would go again any time of the day!

Wangtan and Congee Chaomin are very tasty. Somehow the congee is more like "porridge", which is something I don't know as a Chinese person. Nevertheless, it has a very good taste. The Wangtan is recommended. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was really nice. Gladly again!

Foods taste 4 stars, portion & price 3 stars, very small portion. The dumplings are added with black vinegar which isn’t acceptable for myself. The mango & black rice dessert is disappointing, I assumed it’ll be half mango as I had in Thai restaurants but it’s just tiny pieces as photo.

Definitely try the Yu Xiang Tofu/Chicken! We just happened to eat at the restaurant and loved it so much that we had to come back with the family the next day. However, the spiciness scale is based on people who can eat really spicy food. We'll come by next time and try the hotpot too.

The food was the best we have eaten in a long time. Perfect from the starters to the main courses and the lovely dessert. Very well seasoned, very authentic and above all very tasty. Plus great value for money. We're looking forward to coming back.

I ordered the spicy udon noodles. Anyone who is used to European spiciness will find this too much. I'm good at sharpening now, but that was really crazy. Maybe three chillies as one on the menu? The intolerances were also not clearly marked. For example, there was no gluten sign on the udon noodles. This was confirmed upon request. Could cause problems for less noodle connoisseurs. But the Obagine dish was very tasty and very filling. Overall, everything was slightly more expensive than expected, but still within the normal range.

Came across this restaurant by chance. I ate “Frying Udon with Chicken” very well. I had to go there again the next day. :-) Delicious food, friendly service and affordable prices! Clear recommendation from me! Attention: Seating is required. Stools instead of chairs. I thought it was great! ;-)

Chaomin Congee Restaurant is a charming and beautifully decorated restaurant. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was otherwise pretty average. The deciding factor for our visit was a coupon at NeoTaste. When we ordered, we were then told that only one person (in a group of four) could use the coupon. Nevertheless, we chose five main courses. The breaded chicken and the Szechuan dish were very tasty, the other main courses were ok, and unfortunately the congee didn't impress us. What bothered us the most was that we were very hungry again after just two hours. That may speak for the lightness of the dishes, but given the prices, which were not so low, we were very disappointed. We wouldn't come back.

I really enjoyed the Sichuan Chicken. It had the perfect spiciness. The udon noodles were also delicious. Finally we had the sweet Matcha Bun Bear. Not only does it look cute, it also tastes great. I really felt like it again for the next few days and would therefore like to come back soon. :3

This is a very great shop that I met through a work colleague and immediately liked. The rice soups are very tasty, and you can also get extra toppings for them. I've tried a lot of things from here and they've always been delicious. I can only recommend him.

I did not have the special dish of this restaurant. However I still expected a better food when I ordered a normal curry dish. The mango dessert was disappointing. It was mostly sticky rice and yogurt and only a few small pieces of dried mango on top of it! I really expected to see a good amount of fresh mango when the name indicates "mango".
