Very tasty, great value for money!

Truly delicious Italian food in a lovely setting with friendly staff. Absolutely fair prices and a lovely beer garden are also available. It's also very dog-friendly.

The food was, as usual, very good. However, the service was noticeably lacking. After about 20 minutes, our order was taken, but initially they only asked for the drinks, even though we had already chosen our dishes. The empty plates remained on the table until the next course was served, and I had to actively reorder another drink. Overall, the service staff seemed unattentive. Unfortunately, the quality of service has deteriorated compared to the previous owner's time.

Although I've lived nearby for two years, I finally visited this charming Italian restaurant for the first time – and it certainly won't be my last! We sat outside, unobstructed by vines, which immediately gave us a real holiday feeling. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, the food arrived quickly and was simply fantastic: large portions, wonderfully seasoned, prepared with love – exactly as you would expect from an Italian restaurant. The prices are absolutely fair, which makes this all the more recommendable. Whether for a cozy evening for two or a meal with friends – this restaurant is a real insider tip. Conclusion: If you appreciate authentic Italian cuisine, a relaxed atmosphere, and great service, you should definitely stop by here.

We discovered this restaurant by chance today and were pleasantly surprised. Really reasonable prices, yet still high quality and cuisine. And dining outside under the vines, more or less in the middle of Essen, is also special.

Service is generally lacking. Waiting 15 minutes for a drink order to be taken is normal. A disaster. A second round of drinks is also out of the question... Instead, pointless tasks are performed... like refilling cutlery, checking whether the box is still full...

The relatively new owners have beautifully remodeled and renovated the restaurant. It used to be more of a tennis court location. Now it's a cozy Italian restaurant with a beer garden. I stopped in spontaneously after walking my dog and was very pleasantly surprised. The pizza, pasta, and cappuccino were fresh and delicious. You can watch the tennis players, and there are two play areas for children, a sandbox, and a wooden horse with a real saddle. I will be back and can 100% recommend it.

The price-performance ratio is fair. The staff is abysmal. They prefer to have personal conversations and play on their cell phones instead of taking care of the guests.

The quality isn't particularly good, and the food simply doesn't taste good. Very greasy, with soggy pasta and pizza. In my opinion, it's not a real Italian restaurant.

I had been on vacation I wanted to try an unusual type of Italian food that I had never tried before, and I saw this restaurant that has amazing food and taste from the famous Italian cuisine, prepared by the best chefs and their experience in the restaurant. I recommend pizza also because you can taste it in the same place

Hello. We wanted to visit the restaurant and called four days in advance to make a reservation. We were told that we didn't need to make a reservation for 4 people at 6 p.m. There would always be something free. Reservations would only make sense for groups of 10 or more. When we got there at 6 p.m. nothing was available. Everything was reserved. Very annoying. We could have saved ourselves. Wasn't very nice.

We ate here a few weeks ago and it was delicious. The service was really friendly, you just have to be patient because it was very busy and the food took longer. The only thing that could be improved would be the reservations because we had called specifically and still no table was prepared. They were then able to quickly organize another one, but if we had only been half an hour later or had been a few more people, we would not have been able to get a seat despite the reservation. But we're still going back because it was all a nice, cozy evening with delicious food.

Quality of the food OK. Large portions. Reasonable prices, especially for the main courses. Friendly and attentive service, although it can take a little longer at peak times. Overall very good value for money if you are very hungry.

We have been there 5 times now and have been thrilled every time. No chichi or pompous staff, everything was great! Keep it up, we'll always be happy to come back!

We were guests in this restaurant. It was fully occupied and the atmosphere was that of a large Italian family. The service was remarkable; young, cool, helpful and admirably friendly. The kitchen, in addition to the standards please note the boards; good, tasty dishes with an unbeatable price-performance ratio. Unfortunately no reservation possible. You have to show up early

Always a pleasure. Today we had a very tasty starter from the daily menu. Antipasto with Parma ham, goat cheese, fresh figs and honey. A dream.

Update August 24: The pizza was okay but the waitress doesn't work at all. Then probably not anymore. Oh... actually everything is the same as it was with the previous owners. Very tasty food, nice location, cozy terrace in summer. The new staff is attentive and courteous. But: Unfortunately only the chef is Italian. The previous Italian owners always gave the restaurant the finishing touches. We're having a hard time. But we'll still come back. 🍕🍷

We, 4 people, had dinner in Cantina Italiano today. Everything was super tasty. At extremely reasonable prices. We will definitely come back. Absolutely recommended. The service was also great. Friendly and quick. That's how I wish it!!! It's cozy too. We felt comfortable with good music. Not too loud or too quiet. Great light creates a cozy atmosphere to feel good.

I have known this restaurant for many years and am always satisfied with the lunch menu. But I also go there more often in the evenings. The price/performance ratio is unbeatable, the kitchen offers good Italian home cooking. A clear recommendation is the fish soup. The absolute highlight is the grilled sea bream.

The four of us were there again yesterday. There was carpaccio, steak, pike perch, pasta with truffle sauce and pizza. Everything was very tasty, good quality at a fair price. Despite the restaurant being full, the staff was very attentive. Thank you and always happy.

Unfortunately, the cantina has fallen quite a bit short when it comes to the quality of the food and service. The young waitress was very unfriendly and apparently couldn't do without her AirPod in her ear. Really a shame! For us it was a unique attempt to give the cantina another chance.

Wir waren schon mehrfach hier das Essen war immer okay mehr aber auch nicht. Wir hatten Vorspeisen und Hauptgerichte bestellt. Nach 45 Minuten kam die Hauptgerichte auf die Frage, wir hatten aber auch Vorspeisen bestellt, nahmen die Mitarbeiter die Teller einfach ohne ein weiteres Wort wieder mit. Nach weiteren 10 Minuten später kamen dann die Vorspeisen. Von unserem Platz aus konnten wir unsere warmen Speisen beobachten, und es kam, wie es kommen musste, diese Gerichte wurden daraufhin noch einmal aufgewärmt erwärmt. Eine Lasagne doppelt gratiniert nicht sehr lecker. Nudeln mit Rinderfiletstreifen tot und die Nudeln matschig. Auf die Frage hin, ob unser Essen geschmeckt hat, sagten wir nicht so sehr gut kam wahrscheinlich durch das noch mal aufgewärmt. Die Mitarbeiterin haben die Teller einfach mit und sagte kein einziges Wort. Hätte man mit uns gesprochen, hätten wir die Vorspeisen sicherlich auch storniert und die Hauptgerichte die schon fertig waren direkt gegessen aber wir hatten ja nicht einmal die Möglichkeit dieses zu klären.

Das Essen war leider unterdurchschnittlich. Der Service ist nicht aufmerksam und weder freundlich noch herzlich. Es wird auf den Gast nicht zugegangen. Unser Hauptgang kann vor der Vorspeise. Daraufhin wurde dieser wieder in die Küche mitgenommen. Und nach der Vorspeise dann mit der Mikrowelle erwärmt und erneut serviert. Dadurch waren die Pasta trocken und übergart. Das Fleisch war zäh und die Lasagne war nach einem zweiten gratinieren mit neuem Käse nur noch eine fett Suppe. Die rekksmatiob wurde weg gelächelt und dann ignoriert Wir waren mehrfach zu Gast dort. Richtig überzeugen konnte es nie.

The conditions were very friendly and they tried to make sure that all the guests had a good time, but... for unclear reasons, no pizza could be ordered, and the meat was really very dry. The fish platter was also just far too small, even though we hadn't ordered much it's incredibly expensive.

Good Italian food. Service was a bit overwhelmed - there is a lack of service staff. Ambience....quite nice in the dining room. On the way to the toilets you will find a lot of scooters, bicycles and other things. Unfortunately it resembled a storage room when I visited. There is an outdoor area. I've never experienced the staff not being so talkative. You get short and concise answers. The dough for the salmon pizza was undercooked and inedible and the lamb chop was put in the pizza oven and flooded due to the excessive fat content. They tried to cover it with a few lettuce leaves and tomato slices, but you can't do that. Unfortunately the interior was a disaster!

I was there for lunch and I enjoyed it. The food tasted great. The service was friendly and ok. The atmosphere is typically Italian. If you've been there, you know what I mean and that's part of the charm. That's why 5 stars for me. People whose hobby is checking other people's spelling in their free time will either get their money's worth here or will leave straight away. For me it's great like that. Four of us were there yesterday. The restaurant is a participant in the Schlemmerblock 2024. Reservations made via the Internet with reference to this were not answered at all, a new request without reference to the Schlemmerblock was answered immediately. If you are not interested, please do not take part. It was also dictated how we should order the main courses so that it wouldn't be too expensive for him. The most outrageous thing is when burnt pizzas go out, which is generally an absurdity. Unfortunately we were here for the first and last time. Food good, service poor standard, boss subpar.

Very tasty food (bruschetta, pike perch fillet on leaf spinach and tiramisu). Unfortunately the ambience is a bit loveless. But I was there for dinner.

The furnishings are a bit old and the plastic tulips on the table don't fit the theme or the season. However, the food was excellent and plentiful. Service very friendly. But we'd love to come back.

Leckere Pizza 🍕 und freundliches Personal

Die Aufnahme erfolgte ein wenig rustikal. Uns wurde der Tisch direkt an der Tür freigeräumt. Auf den Hinweis, dass wir reserviert hätten, wurde nicht eingegangen. Erst der deutliche Hinweis, dass wir nicht an der Tür sitzen wollten, brachte uns an einen Tisch im hinteren Bereich. Die erhaltenen Speisen und Getränke waren lecker, die Portionen groß und die Preise günstig. Die Spagetti aglio e olio super lecker. Der zum Zander gereichte Spinat war gut gewürzt, jedoch haben die dicken Stiele den Genuss getrübt. Insgesamt kommen wir aber gerne wieder.

Kein Ambiente. Wir haben bei 4 Personen 2 Essen stark versetzt erhalten. Die Kinder waren mit dem Essen fertig, dann kam 1 Essen für ein Elternteil. Das andere Gericht wurde komplett vergessen. Der Service ist eine Katastrophe. Ich würde zudem eher von einem Imbiss als von einem Restaurant sprechen.

Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt, recht lange Wartezeit

Wir waren als Gruppe von Leistungssruderern auf der Suche nach einem mediterranen, kulinarischen "Stützpunkt", der unsere leeren Kohlehydratspeicher mit bester italienischer Kost während der vier Tage dauernden Wettkämpfe auf dem Baldeneysee wieder hochwertig und trotzdem preiswert wieder auffüllt. Das "Cantina" hat das in jeder Beziehung geschafft. Schnell, lecker und in schöner Atmosphäre. Wir kommen wieder!!

Die Cantina Italiana ist ein typisches italienisches Restaurant, mit offensichtlich italienischen Betreibern. Und einer familiären Atmosphäre, so wie man sich einen Familienbetrieb vorstellt. Sehr nette Bedienung, äußerst leckeres Essen. Und das alles zu mehr als angemessenen Preisen. Hier waren wir nicht zum letzten Mal 😄

Ehrliche vier Sterne. Wir waren zuletzt vor einigen Jahren hier und dann gestern erst wieder. Das Essen ist nach wie vor sehr gut - süß nur, wenn der bestellte Salat mit Essig und Öl tatsächlich nur diese beiden Zutaten enthält, aber weder Salz noch Pfeffer 😬 Der Service ist, wie schon vor Jahren flott und (bemüht) nett (zu sein). Dies ist aber wohl der Situationen geschuldet, dass es dort bei schönem Wetter echt rappelvoll auf der Außenterrasse ist.

Wir lieben es, mehr gibt's nicht zu sagen 🤗, alles stimmt, von den Speisen übers Personal zum überaus freundlichen Service und nicht zu vergessen das Ambiente. Kommen leider viel zu selten 😏
