As of November 16, 2025 The cafeteria at the Harz Clinic in Quedlinburg currently has very limited opening hours. According to the posted schedule, the following hours will apply from August 19, 2025: Monday to Friday: 7:30–8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. Saturday: Closed Sunday: 12:00–3:00 p.m. These short hours demonstrate how difficult it is to recruit enough staff for early, late, and weekend shifts. This is perfectly understandable, as this work is demanding and often underestimated. Better wages and more attractive working conditions would certainly help here—and this would benefit both hospital staff and visitors. More stability and relief for the team, and more reliable opening hours for everyone who needs a meal or a coffee. Despite the current limitations, it is clear that the existing staff are doing their best.

I would have liked to post something else. But unfortunately, the cafeteria closes at 3 p.m., just when visiting hours begin, and that's the case every day. Then you should just leave it alone. Staff shortages or not. There are no alternatives, like vending machines with fresh baguettes or cakes.

Not quite six months ago, to my pleasant surprise, I enjoyed homemade potato salad here. Today I had the ready-made one and a Bockwurst with an extremely tough skin. Two Bockwursts with disgusting ready-made potato salad for €16... Damn!!! I won't be back.

We ordered pizza, which was a complete disgrace. The price for the size and toppings was catastrophic. Four small pickles and half a Vienna sausage. Never again!

About six months ago (!!!!) I reserved a table. We wanted to have a cozy evening with colleagues. There were 16 of us, the table was dirty, and there were glasses left by previous guests on it. There was also half-eaten bread. When we pointed out that there weren't enough seats, a table was pushed together upstairs. The waitress then informed us that if we "occupied" the upstairs table, the walk to the restroom would be longer 🫣. We waited about 30 minutes for our drinks. The Aperol Spritz that finally arrived had a half-eaten straw. At that point, I knew I was reviewing this restaurant and that I would never go back. And that the waiter mentioned the word "tip" several times. Several times!!! For what, I wonder? For the service? For not having enough seats? For the dirty tables? Never again 😣 I've never experienced anything like it. What a shame.

Since the terrace opposite was occupied by a (noisy) birthday party, we took the last free table of the few available by the building. It turned out to be dirty from the birds in the climbing plants, which wasn't immediately apparent due to the impractical tablecloth. The two of us were able to use the "outer" seats. Then we waited about 15 minutes for a menu. After another 15 minutes, we were able to order (you can choose from, among other things, four types of homemade pasta) and then 20 minutes later our pasta arrived on pre-warmed (!) plates. Unfortunately, it was presented very carelessly. There weren't even any napkins! When ordering seafood pasta, you expect large shrimp and mussels. But you can also do it, as they did here, using one of the common frozen packages of cheap mixed seafood with tiny shrimp and mussels. In that case, the price should reflect the quality. Finally, we still wanted to treat ourselves to a panna cotta for dessert. That was a complete disaster – so tough you had to chew it. Either it was a week old or the cook had dropped the gelatin packet into the pot. Inedible. Unfortunately, I had already paid immediately (to avoid waiting any longer). There was no complimentary grappa or anything like that either. In short: not only is the price-performance ratio off...
