Café/Gaststätte am Grünen See in Melle

You should stay well away from this place. The staff is very unfriendly.

A welcoming place to rest during your hike, offering simple meals and a wonderful atmosphere.

A welcome refreshment stop on the Wittekindsweg. The only place along the long-distance trail between Bad Essen and Rödinghausen that offers refreshments. The host was very relaxed, and the café was quaint. Despite the perfect weather on a summer weekend, it wasn't very busy, and there were still plenty of seats available, both in the sun and in the shade.

Unfortunately it was closed, but the location was fantastic.

We cycled through here one Sunday and lingered for a few hours. Jürgen (the innkeeper) runs this café/restaurant with a lot of heart and still has reasonable prices. Anyone passing by should definitely stop by, because the green lake is also worth a visit.

This small, idyllic place is a bit hidden, but it's worth taking a break there (opening hours only on Fridays and Sundays). Jürgen’s bratwurst is simply world class 😋
