Café/Gaststätte am Grünen See in Melle

Welcome refreshment on the Wittekindsweg. The only stop with food on the long-distance hiking trail between Bad Essen and Rödinghausen. The innkeeper is very relaxed, the café is rustic. Despite the best weather, not very busy on a summer weekend, there were still enough places available, both in the sun and in the shade.

Unfortunately it was closed, but it was in a fantastic location.

We came here on a Sunday with our bikes and stayed for a few hours. Jürgen (the innkeeper) runs this café/restaurant with a lot of heart and moderate prices. Anyone who passes by here should definitely take a quick look, because the green lake is also worth a visit.

This small, idyllic place is a bit hidden, but it's worth taking a break there (opening hours only on Fridays and Sundays). Jürgen’s bratwurst is simply world class 😋
