A special place. The cake was delicious. The service was very friendly. And the location and the view were absolutely fantastic. Thank you for the wonderful time we spent with you.

Four of us were there for the first time for lunch and were very impressed. A beautiful view over Bad Driburg. The drive in the autumn was simply picturesque through the mixed forest with its unique tall beech trees. The service was very friendly and helpful. The selection of dishes was extensive and everything was delicious. We highly recommend this visit.

Went there for coffee and cake. Great pastries! And with a fantastic view. The food on the neighboring tables also looked excellent. Definitely worth a visit.

Very friendly service, delicious food: steaks, schnitzel, salad, and even better dessert: cream puffs. The drive is a bit adventurous, so it's best to park further up the road. We'd love to come back.

Very delicious cake in a very pleasant setting. We tried the "famous" cream puffs and were not disappointed. The service was friendly and quick, and the view, when the weather is good, is phenomenal. You can also sit outside when the weather is nice.

A very nice view, it's worth going up there, and you can also take a look at the castle. It needs some renovation. Everything is a bit dated. Unfortunately, my food wasn't at the desired temperature. The venison was delicious, but almost cold.

Unfortunately, I can't share the great reviews of the food here. All the dishes are consistently overpriced. If I get anything at all, I only get the meat, regardless of the animal, freshly prepared. But sometimes it's dry or tough. Everything else, be it spaetzle, fries, croquettes, etc., is or seems like convenience food. You get a good price for the view. I'm simply no longer willing to pay between €25 and €30 for dishes that simply aren't worth it. Maybe everyone who posts such good things here should take a closer look at their plates. Unfortunately, I'm constantly disappointed in restaurants these days. Even though I'm only an amateur cook, I find it a shame that I could do better, and that just bothers me. I can't say anything about the coffee specialties yet. The review will follow.

The view is great, but the food is poor value for money. I personally find it an overpriced chip shop. The cream puffs, however, are AMAZING.

Unfortunately, my expectations weren't met. My husband's, however, were. The Sachsenklause has a truly incredible view over Bad Driburg. We were even lucky enough to sit by the window, and the sun set over the town. The decor is very old. The seating was quite uncomfortable. I actually like "rustic" things when the rest of the ambiance matches it. But the Sachsenklause simply seems stuck in time to me, in a not-so-good way. The service was attentive and friendly. Personally, I didn't really like the food. I had the Wiener Schnitzel with turkey instead of pork. It came with a side salad, fries, and a mushroom sauce. The salad, as well as the sauce for the schnitzel, were really delicious. The schnitzel and fries reminded me very much of a quick snack. My husband had pork fillet with a Pommerey mustard sauce, a side salad, and hash browns. He absolutely loved everything, especially the sauce. I think game and mushroom lovers are in good hands there. Personally, I wouldn't go back for a hot meal. But for a piece of cake and coffee, I'd consider it again, based on the location alone.

It's truly commendable that a restaurant is still open for lunch. In addition to the magnificent view of the Driburg region, guests can expect very friendly service and delicious dishes. The 50km drive is definitely worth it. The restaurant is a real invitation to linger. We'd be happy to return.

Hello my dear fish rolls, I'm from around here and of course know Bad Driburg too, but in all these years I haven't been to the Iburg once, only to the rehabilitation clinics in Bad Driburg. Now I've taken the time and the inspiration to go up there with my friend from the clinic because my health wouldn't have allowed me to go. If you really love the open spaces, the distance, the sky, the woods and the meadows, you should definitely go there, not just because of the famous cream puffs which taste really great, but in general if you love nature and want to unwind and then want to climb the beautiful Princess Tower, you should definitely go there. The restaurant could of course do with a few renovations here and there 👍 but they are always full. Make sure you reserve because the view is priceless. You can see cakes and the like inside. A standard café and restaurant I would say, but the quality and value for money is simply amazing. The seating outside needs to be replaced because it doesn't help for light people or fat people, sick people, backs, knees, or people. They are very wobbly, very small and very stupid, otherwise. Service very very nice

The restaurant is a bit dated. But the service was super friendly, and we ate cream puffs and drank coffee. The cream puffs were super, super, super delicious. I highly recommend them to everyone.😊

We had dinner and the food was absolutely delicious. Nice atmosphere with a view of the whole city. Great service. Oh and definitely have dessert, it just melts on your tongue.

Great restaurant with delicious, high-quality food and friendly staff. The view is also fantastic.

We went up first thing in the morning when the tower opened and had a great view. The climb was worth it. But only in clear weather 😉. Then we went down and had a very good coffee and, again, a great view from the terrace. Because we liked the menu so much, we went back in the evening for a delicious meal. It's definitely worth coming here. We'd love to come back.

We visited the Sachsenklause on a sunny evening. It had a wonderful outdoor area with a view of Bad Driburg. We had reserved a table inside, which also offered this beautiful view. However, the interior is very dated. It wasn't particularly cozy. The dishes we ordered, which included chanterelle mushrooms, were delicious. A detour to the Sachsenklause is definitely worth planning when in Bad Driburg.

Very nice up there with great cream puffs

We spontaneously stopped by for coffee yesterday in the intense heat. The ambiance with the panoramic view is truly special. The service was very friendly, and we immediately felt welcome. I haven't had such delicious iced chocolate in a long time, and the waffles with ice cream and strawberries were fantastic! Although they normally close at 6 p.m., we were allowed to stay until after 7 p.m. and were served food and drinks. We felt very comfortable there and would gladly come back.

A great place to linger and take a break after a bike ride 🚴‍♂️ or a hike 🚶‍♂️🥾🚶. Super friendly service and a fabulous view of Bad Driburg. We'd love to come back 👍🌞😉.

The Sachsenklause offers a wonderful view over Bad Driburg and the surrounding area. The giant cream puffs, which are available with different fillings, are excellent. The service is fast, competent and friendly. The restaurant is always worth a visit.

We had dinner at Sachsenklause today for Mother's Day. As always, the food was delicious, the staff was very friendly and you can enjoy a fantastic view!

This location was recommended to us and the visit is absolutely worth it. The food was very tasty and we had a nice seat by the window with a view of the valley and Bad Driburg. In terms of price, it's quite hefty: a decent plated meal is available from 25 EU and I find the atmosphere a bit very rustic. But the food itself gets a solid 5* 👍🏼

A real gem with a fantastic view over Bad Driburg! The Sachsenklause is picturesquely located right next to the observation tower and offers a beautiful terrace with a wonderful panorama over the city - absolutely worth seeing! The restaurant is a bit old, but it has its own charm. The staff was super friendly and very helpful - even during our spontaneous visit with a larger group, everything went wonderfully without long waiting times. The cake was particularly delicious – fresh and homemade. The prices are also absolutely humane and fair. A perfect place for a little break, a cup of coffee or just enjoying the view. I'd love to come back!

A beautiful view and good food (venison). Dogs are welcome. Parking can be tricky, though. Those planning to park at the higher parking lot and walk through the forest should be able to walk (it's nice, but steep). I went there the first time for the cream puffs, and went back for the venison stew in the evening. :D

Classic German cuisine, 4 vegetarian dishes, the rest with various types of meat. Friendly staff. Rustic decor and a great view, whether you sit inside or outside. Depending on the number of visitors, you may have to park further away.

We went there for coffee today. Every table was occupied. We didn't have a reservation, but we were lucky that someone just paid. After a few minutes we got a seat. It was very loud because of course there was a lot going on. The waffles were very tasty. Despite the great stress they were under, the staff were very friendly and attentive. There is a beautiful view for free. You can park right in front of the door, but the number of spaces is limited. There are more parking options a few hundred meters in front of it and some further up if anyone wants to walk further 😃

The location of the Sachsenklause is great. Without question. The service and the food, on the other hand, top the location by a lot!!! Super friendly, service-oriented staff. Fast, very friendly and, despite the often large rush, always ready to fulfill the guests' wishes. The food and cake are excellent. Fresh, tasty and very attractively presented. Since all of this is unfortunately no longer a given today, I would like to say thank you for a few wonderful culinary hours during my rehab. I would have liked to give it 10 stars.

We ordered game dishes and I have to say, they were top notch. The game was cooked to perfection and very heartily seasoned. I'm very impressed as a hunter. I can only recommend. Many thanks also to the orderly.

Update. We went to dinner at Sachsenklause again on July 18th, 2024 and July 25th, 2024. As with our first review, everything was to our satisfaction. The service was good, the employees are friendly and the food is delicious. The view is still very great and we are completely satisfied. During our visit everything was clean and tidy. The dessert in the form of cake is always particularly delicious. We are therefore adding another note to our review: a great restaurant in Bad Driburg! Rating back then: Great view of the entire city of Bad Driburg. You can sit here on the terrace or inside and you don't have to miss out on the view. You can see far into the country. The food is great. The service was friendly and polite. Everything was very clean when we visited.

Always nice for a cozy beer 🍺. But also a good address for eating. Game dishes are particularly recommended. It's always best to reserve a table. 👍

Dosenchampions, Pfeffersoße, die bis heute "Pfötchen" gibt - von dem Essen hat man lange etwas. Nur das Fleisch war sehr gut, aber leider durch Soße und Beilagen verdorben.

We were very surprised to find such a restaurant/cafe in the middle of the forest and then with the view. Super nice service and incredibly delicious cakes eaten there. My son ate a delicious wild garlic soup.
