Café Pilz in Berlin

Amazing israeli food and minimal but good wine selection. Place is cute and cozy but on Saturday gets easily packed and you might have to seat on a high chair and share the table. Still worth the visit even on busy day as food and service are top notch.

Some of the tastiest food I have ever had! We are only in Berlin for one week, and we have already been to Cafe Pilz twice :)

Looks great, but we simply weren't served, were then spoken to in a completely unfriendly way and left without having accomplished anything. What a shame!

So glad we took a friend’s recommendation to have lunch here. Such delicious and tasty food, definitely recommend it. Make sure to book ahead for lunch, can get busy.

Lovely place! They are always packed but we were lucky as we dropped by late and got a place for two. Highly reasonable prices, Levantine food exploding with flavors and textures, warm atmosphere and friendly staff. For me, one of the best Levantine restaurants in Berlin, and I’ve tried the best of the rest. Great hummus, tahini, roasted aubergine, torn potatoes and home-baked warm, soft and salty bread.

Over priced, hipster, fusion Israeli food in a tiny restaurant with pretentious waiters and clientele. The only good thing is that you can pay with card. Expect a long wait

an experience that sent my taste buds on a journey longer than my last vacation! The hummus here? So creamy that I would love to use it as a skin care product. The falafel? Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside – almost as if they had outwitted physics. And the eggplant? Let's put it this way: after the first bite, I spontaneously started learning Hebrew. The staff is so friendly that I almost thought I was having dinner with my grandma. If you don't leave here full and happy, you've definitely done something wrong. I'm thinking about bringing my tent next time!"

It would be best if you make a reservation before you go. Since we went without a reservation, we waited for 30-40 minutes, but it was worth it. The environment is small and very friendly. The food is quite delicious. The service is very fast. I definitely recommend it.

Extremely delicious, super fresh and vibrant atmosphere

Best Israeli restaurant I've tried in Berlin so far (only the hummus is a little better elsewhere, but that doesn't make it bad!) Unfortunately the door was left open the whole evening, so we were pretty cold because we were sitting right next to the entrance. Shouldn't be closed. OK. Stupid. But okay. I'll sit further in next time. Food was OUTSTANDING!!!!

Oh, what a lovely, cozy place. The food was delicious, the best lebneh I ever had in my life. The prices were really fair for the effort was put in; and the staff was positively so hospitable. Phillipe and Sachi were great hosts. I would strongly recommend this place.

The food was amazing, the flavors were very surprising in the best way. The service was also good, it’s a busy restaurant with a lot of people waiting but it didn’t bother me. We sat outside and this was very nice. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Berlin!

I wonder if they actually cook or have a fridge, since all the food available at this place has neither undergone cooking or needs to be stored in a cool place. It's very basic, just enough to fill a vegan stomach.

The bread was heaven. We really loved all of the healthy vegan food options even though me and my friend often tend to opt for a good piece of meat. Everything was very flavourful and rich in taste. There were a lot of wine options and some typical German other drinks. Free tapwater is always a plus. The restaurant is small but cosy.

It seemed to me that the waiters are cordial to a specific target of clientele and not too much to other types that don’t match what they like.

Mega delicious food with the freshest home-made food. Luckily everything is served on small plates so you can share many different dishes such as tapas. It was once again a change from the Middle, which have a very similar cuisine. Particularly worth highlighting here, even if it's difficult because everything is a taste experience, are the bean salad with lentils, the vegan labneh, the fried pepper paste and the dessert with rose water, berries and peanuts. There is also a well-stocked wine list here... Nice modern atmosphere in the hipster Schillerkiez...

Everything was very tasty, wish it was more normal to get a bottle of leitungs water! Some places charge 50 cent for it! And in such a hot weather it’s a necessity!!!

A little hidden champ in Neukölln. Off the big streets you can get the best levantine cuisine. Try make a reservation as it gets very busy. You can also book a quiet room for parties up to 16 people which I did and will be doing again. Service can sometimes be a bit slow when it’s fully booked but that doesn’t takes away from the great atmosphere. Everything is vegan. And order a lot of bread because ist soo good

I wish I could give this cafe 10 stars, it’s just superb! It is by far my favorite food in Berlin - every dish is consistent, so flavorful, perfectly portioned, fresh, I could go on. They elevate simple ingredients like potatoes and cauliflower to a magical level - I am always impressed and I have tried nearly everything on the menu. I live in California and I daydream about this place on a monthly basis; half the reason I keep coming back to Berlin is to eat at this cafe lol. Oh, and don’t sleep on their iced chai, it’s HEAVENLY ❤️‍🔥

Obsessed with Cafe Pilz since 2020! It’s just so cozy, the space is beautiful, the staff so friendly, service is very quick, prices are so attractive and the food is just amazing!! Seems the menu even got bigger this year 🤤 don’t change anything, you are the best 🩷

It is not always easy to reserve a table as the demand for this restaurant is very high in the summer months. But the effort is definitely worth it. The cuisine offers Mediterranean dishes, including eggplant, cauliflower, labneh and majadra dishes. The smell alone makes your mouth water. The service is consistently friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Cafe Pilz is one of my favorite restaurants in Berlin. Every dish was absolutely delicious and its worth going with a few people and just ordering the whole menu. You will feel like you're eating at home with friends. Its a small space and can get very crowded and loud but its worth it. I am not a natural wine fan but the natural sparkling wine was actually really good.

It's really hard to have a favorite place in Berlin cause there are so many - but that's one is easily one of them. The food is fantastic and so is the overall vibe, music selection and the people who run it. Highly recommended.

For me Humus is religious. The Humus at pilz is medium quality and it's being served with soft brad. HUMUS need to be served with PITA. I have to say that I expect nothing of people that didn't born with Humus. Therefore the score is average and not 1 star.

A 10/10 without hesitation. 100% vegan Israeli dishes, delicious and hearty, to share. Ideal for an evening with friends or as a couple. No comments to make, from bread to drinks, everything is literally perfect! I especially recommend the Siniya cauliflower and the two desserts, which are breathtaking. If I could take a dig at this restaurant, I would.

Absolutely finger-licking delicious food in a cozy atmosphere! Try the torn potatoes and their amazing hummus. The spicy aubergine is one of the tastiest dishes in the menu. They serve a basket of fresh bread and you can always order more. The service is very kind and everything tastes great. 3 dishes, topped with wine—a great full meal for 3 people. Will definitely visit here again!

There were five of us plus a baby there to celebrate a birthday. It was a bit difficult to fit the stroller folded under the table. The food was very tasty, I can't say anything negative about it. Unfortunately, what brought our evening to an abrupt end was the last-minute announcement that we had to vacate the table in just under ten minutes because the table was still available from 9 p.m. All well and good, but our food wasn't completely eaten yet and when we ordered another carafe of wine we were NOT informed that it was probably not worth it unless we downed the wine while standing. It can happen that you lose sight of the clock during a time like this (birthday, baby, etc.). We could have been informed again that the table was still occupied, but please not 8-10 minutes in advance....Not a nice end to an evening that began so beautifully... ..

Unfortunately this will be the last time I ever stepped a foot in this place. I had always liked it in there but last night I had made a reservation for my birthday dinner with my mother and best friends (including a 7 weeks old baby of my friend) and we have arrived in a complete mess. The waiter's first comment to us was "you cannot sit here, because we need to pass", instead of welcoming us to their restaurant. The night continued when we ordered the entire menu (all dishes and bottles of Cremánt) and no one told us that we will have not even 1 hour to finish all the food. When it was 8.52pm the waiter came and said "in 8 minutes you need to ask you to leave the table". The entire table was full of food, we haven't even ordered wine for the food HAHA. As it was my birthday dinner, we did not even get to finish our food, nor have a glass of wine, nor give gifts and say a toast! It was the worst experience. The restaurant is okay for hipsters and tourists perhaps in Berlin that do not care about service or any standard of decency. The respect and understanding or the intent to offer a solution so we can at least FINISH OUR FOOD we perceived was equal to ZERO.

I almost started crying of joy on the first bites. Such a warm and cozy atmosphere. The week before me and my husband went to a Michelin star restaurant and the taste of this food were far beyond!! The plates are very well balanced. The restaurant have a sharing concept and we had 4 dishes and 1 dessert divided by us 2. Cheap for this standard on food cooked with this much love!! They have a good few selections on natural wines on glass that we enjoyed. Service is layed back, relaxed and has close to giggles! Really recommend!! But its busy, so plan ahead/book a table.

it gets all the stars from me for the unique homely vibe and the super chill service - before having tried the food yet! so keep that in mind. (and wait, the food arrived and the portions are .. super small, like tapas size, so maybe I take a star out. let me eat first). yes the tastes are great, but one star goes out for unexpectedly small portions.

I am a foodie and I´ve been living in Berlin for 12 years now and this is by far one of the best restaurants I have been to. The food is so delicately cooked, it´s just a joy! Make sure to come with a few persons, so you can order the whole menue! Thats what we did for five persons, and it was perfect. Two dishes we ordered twice. People are so nice here, it feels like you´re in someones living room. Which leads me to the only not so good thing: space is a bit tight here. But the food is worth it! <3

Excellent restaurant / Café in which we had the opportunity to dine. The place located on a not too busy street in the Neukölln district. The place is trendy and super cozy, you feel very good there. The staff is very pleasant and attentive. The restaurant offers typical Israeli dishes. The food was of very good quality and very well prepared. It was a real treat ! It costs between 20 and 30 euros per person when taking an assortment of items. Highly recommended !

Visiting Café Pilz again was, as always, an absolute pleasure! This Saturday, however, the experience exceeded all expectations. The service was exceptionally impressive - a rare combination of professionalism and personal touch that is rarely found in the Berlin dining scene. I would particularly like to highlight the waiter who surprised us with a round of arak, which not only created a warm and welcoming atmosphere but also made us feel truly welcome. Even more impressive was the waitress with the black hair, whose warmth, friendliness and great service really stood out. She embodies the kind of hospitality you would want from any restaurant business. Apart from the excellent service, Café Pilz is unbeatable when it comes to value for money and puts many other similar cuisines and restaurants in Berlin to shame.

Absolute 10/10. The food, the service, the vibe. Everything is just perfect. Especially the torn potatoes are to die for. There’s not much more to add. Just magnificent all around.

Great place, a bit full and you probably won‘t get seated on walk-in, so reservation is needed. We took 8 plates for 4 people and were full in the end (around 11€ pP for food) Everything on the menu is great (except beans, they are kind of regular), so just take anything! Potatoes and hot aubergine are a must.
