Cafe Del Sol Kassel in Kassel

I've been there twice now. It looks very nice. The staff is sometimes more, sometimes less friendly. Well, that's normal; it depends on the person and the day. If someone isn't quite so friendly, that's okay with me. The food is also pretty okay. I have to say, for the high prices, I really expected better. But unfortunately, it didn't impress me either time. I wouldn't really recommend it, but Café del Sol is always very busy. So I think everyone should form their own opinion, since most people are quite impressed, and Café del Sol seems to be very popular.

Super friendly staff, really delicious food, and a wide selection! We'd gladly go back.

4 out of 4 visits have been simply terrible. Today was the worst. The entire restaurant had a terrible toilet smell. A 20-minute wait before being asked if we wanted to order something. Half the food arrived before the drinks, and the other half didn't arrive until 15 minutes later. Incidentally, the food was simply placed two tables away, or rather, half-heartedly thrown onto the table. When I pointed out that it could be placed more politely and returned to the assigned table, the response was rude. No respect. Cutlery was also missing. The glass was served dirty with lipstick. At that point, there was virtually no business, and all three servers were unfriendly and clearly uninterested in their work. That was the last time for us.

There is something for everyone

We have visited Café Del Sol in Kassel several times, as it is generally a very nice restaurant with good food and a pleasant ambiance. However, we repeatedly noticed that the service is increasingly deteriorating. The staff often seem unmotivated, bored, and at times unfriendly. Regardless of whether we had a reservation or not, we were given awkward seats several times – despite being advised accordingly – or even had to change tables. We remain impressed with the food and the ambiance – both are very good. However, the overall experience is significantly marred by the service. There are regularly long waits of 20 to 25 minutes before an order is even taken. Sometimes orders are forgotten or the wrong dishes are brought, which then leads to arguments. Furthermore, the staff often seem hectic and move restlessly around the dining room, which spoils the otherwise pleasant atmosphere. **Conclusion:** The food is very good and the ambiance is pleasant, but the increasingly poor service unfortunately makes the visit less and less appealing over time.

The food was amazing, delicious, and the service was very friendly. The homemade lemonade cost €6.50, but it was well worth the price and I definitely recommend it.

We charged our car across the restaurant/cafe and simply walked in not knowing what to expect. The decor is grand, the vibe is immaculate and the servers are super sweet and accomodating to English customers. We were grateful for the service. Food was served hot, fresh and delicious.

Excellent atmosphere. Close to Tesla Supercharger. Had Schnitzel and Pizza. Excellent food, but nothing you'll remember. Ok service - nothing you'll remember either. Just a good and reasonable place.

It's been a while since we've been back. Service was quick and efficient. Drink prices were OK. The food prices were a bit higher (it's a trendy place, after all), but still OK. You can go there with a clear conscience.

I've known the Café del Sol chain for several years and have already visited various locations. Our last visit to Kassel was rather spontaneous for dinner – and it was definitely worth it. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, the food truly delicious and of good quality. You can feel that the work here is done with passion. One small disappointment, however, was the ambiance and the details. Our seat, for example, had very worn leather upholstery with noticeable cracks – a shame, because the lovingly decorated interior contributes to the typical "getaway feeling" that I associate with Café del Sol. A quick visit to the saddler and a fresh coat of paint – and the experience would have been perfect. I know that might sound petty, but at the prices charged, you can expect such details. Overall, though: a good visit, good food, great service – we'd be happy to come back!

There's sometimes a wait for service, but it's generally good. The food is excellent. Sitting on the terrace at sunset is simply wonderful.

We were on our way home from Austria. We stopped at the supercharger and had a spontaneous dinner here. The service was better than at the 5-star hotels in Austria. It topped both hotels in our experience. Very friendly, attentive staff. The food, as expected, was more like fast food.

The worst service I have ever seen there are 5 waitresses and about 20 guests in the shop and you still have to wait almost half an hour until someone comes to the table and you can order the waitresses prefer to stand behind the counter and chat

We charged our electric car in the parking lot and took the opportunity to quickly grab a coffee and use the restroom. In short: the coffee was far too expensive, the restroom was available, and the place itself was rather dirty. We weren't prepared to pay €3.60 for a cappuccino that consisted mostly of foamed milk and €4.10 for an Orangina. That's simply outrageous. Unfortunately, I can't upload a picture, otherwise you'd be able to see the carpet. It's not bad lighting; that's dirt from the walkways. The Vorwerk representatives have been called upon to show Cafe del Sol how to clean the carpet. Overall, I can't say anything positive other than the fact that the service staff was OK. However, the waiter asked twice if we really didn't want anything to eat. That wasn't necessary either...

Yes, I would recommend Café del Sol... delicious food and super friendly service.

Excellent lunch with thoughtful decor Quality food

I really like this restaurant. It's beautifully laid out, and the architectural style is exactly my taste! There's quite a bit of traffic noise from the street, but it's easily accessible. You have to die one day... Parking is great. The staff is very friendly. The food is delicious; this time I had the scrambled eggs with a roll and a croissant with jam. The scrambled eggs were moist, and the croissant was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. If there's one complaint, it's the price of the orange juice. Perhaps you could add a second, cheaper option that isn't freshly squeezed. 😉

We were there for brunch, and the selection was huge—everything your heart could desire. Whenever something ran out, it was immediately refilled. And the staff was very friendly.

Very nice ambience, great breakfast and very good service

Great shop, nice people, no complaining. It tastes good, not like it did before Corona, but it's okay. The only thing you notice everywhere is that the portions are really getting smaller and smaller. Yes, I know we're in a price war, everything is getting expensive, etc. I think it's a shame. Before, you could barely walk from the table, and now you feel like, hmm, just a little more of this and that would be good. But you can also look at it strategically 😉

It really depends on the service, whether they give a good recommendation and then serve the right food. I've been here several times now, and sometimes the food is really good and friendly, and sometimes you think twice about coming back.

The ambiance is amazing. The food is good. Despite the large number of guests, the food arrives quickly and runs smoothly. The service is very attentive. The value for money is excellent. Highly recommended.

It's always a matter of taste; you're not the place for me to drink coffee in the afternoon.

Pleasantly surprised. Almost empty at lunchtime during the week, so wait times were very short. Some of the dishes we tried were very tasty, some were okay. The pinsa and fries were very good, the currywurst was okay; we've had much better. Prices are reasonable. The staff, cleanliness, and ambiance were good.

Stopped here on a recommendation. Super friendly welcome. Waiters Jan and Manuela are nice, helpful, and friendly. The wait for the food was short. The BBQ spare ribs were absolutely amazing. My husband opted for the prawn-wasabi pasta and was also very impressed. The ambiance takes some getting used to, as everything is open and it can get quite loud at times when it's busy, but that's just my subjective opinion. All in all, it's worth a visit; I think we'll be back again.

The restaurant was not even half full in the afternoon. It took 15 minutes to get served. During that time, no one showed up at the table. We waited another 20 minutes for our drinks. The food was okay, but the fries were too salty... We're disappointed.

Very nice service I had lent my daughter my metal straw for her drink – of course, we forgot it. The server ran out into the parking lot to bring me my straw. That was really nice, I think. Thank you!

What surprised me was that you had to order and pay for fries separately with the main course (burger). The dip that came with it was only enough for half the portion of fries, and ordering more would probably have cost extra, hence the two-star deduction for the meal. Otherwise, the atmosphere and service were good and comfortable.

If you're satisfied, you tell others, but the same applies if you're not. First of all, the service was good, and the volume level for conversation was appropriate. What wasn't okay was my chicken burger with sweet potatoes. Everything was ready less than five minutes after ordering. Now you might say, "Wow, that was quick." I thought so too. Now, what wasn't okay was the sweet potatoes, which were roasted like fries, crispy, and oversalted. Sweet potato fries, I know them as soft, without salt, and then there were two regular fries on top, which indicates they were simply overcooked. The same with the chicken burger. Overall, I was 100% disappointed with yesterday's meal. Unfortunately, there was no discount or apology, even though I complained. I was so hungry and didn't want it thrown away. I'll definitely come back to see if they take the criticism seriously. Yes, everything is getting more expensive, but the quality should not suffer.

Very good food and reasonable prices. The staff is very quiet and friendly. You can sit inside or outside, which spreads the noise and makes for a pleasant conversation. I didn't have to wait long for my food. The food and drinks were very tasty, and the portions were generous.

A good network establishment, with a pleasant interior, enough space, ample parking, polite staff. The pasta and lasagna were delicious, and the order was delivered quickly enough. There were not many visitors.

great here. We really enjoy being there for brunch. I didn't count but we're already getting 10. Not too overloaded buffet, but still something for everyone. Friendly team. Celina in particular impressed us with her friendliness. Spontaneous is rather bad, reservations are advisable. I've come here now and then to eat, as a couple, but also with the family (8 people). Small mistakes happen, where is that not the case? :) Completely satisfied.

The chilli pepper on my Café de Sol Schnitzel was moldy and some of the salad didn't feel fresh either and was swimming in the dressing

So in itself a nice place, the drinks didn't need a location, but the cappuccino arrived almost cold, the new one we got was also almost cold and was made straight away. It's a real shame, but oh well. We also asked an employee if he could turn on the heater. I mean, these things aren't too decorative, are they? Well, the employee told us rather unkindly that this wasn't possible and we didn't get an explanation

The staff is really friendly. The food always comes extremely quickly, which makes it easy to go there when you're hungry. Unfortunately, I find the toilets very unclean, unfortunately in every Café del Sol I have visited so far. There is toilet paper everywhere, the toilet seats are discolored, the hand dryer is completely wet, smeared and full of fluff.

I am deeply disappointed with my last visit here and that was largely due to a single employee. Their listlessness was noticeable and spread to the entire atmosphere. Every interaction with her felt like an imposition. Her answers to questions were short and without any motivation. But what really shocked me was that as customers we were asked to wipe our own table! This is unacceptable and shows a shocking lack of service. I As if that wasn't enough, the glasses we received smelled unpleasantly of a moldy, damp cloth. This was absolutely disgusting and negatively affected my entire impression.

Today we were at Café del Sol with three people, including a 6 year old child. The drinks and food came quite quickly. At first the terrace where we were sitting was full, but by the time we wanted to pay there weren't many guests left. After we had eaten we asked for the bill and were told that he would let his colleague know. Our plates were picked up in the meantime and we asked again for the bill. We waited half an hour and the tables around us were all cashed out. The drinks had already been drunk by then. Unfortunately no one came to us... After another quarter of an hour the empty glasses were cleared away and we asked for the bill again. Unfortunately, no one came to us, even though staff was constantly walking around us and we asked several times for the bill. In the end we went to the counter and unfortunately didn't get any accommodation from the staff. We would have expected an apology or a small price concession. Unfortunately nothing at all. The statement we got at the counter was “it’s no problem, you can pay directly at the counter”. In my opinion, it's not a fair statement when you wait an hour for the bill with a 6-year-old child and after multiple inquiries. If we had been asked for new drinks in the meantime or if the store had been so full that the staff couldn't keep up, then it would be a completely different situation. We are very disappointed and won't be coming back anytime soon, even though the atmosphere is very nice!

We always enjoy coming here. Whether for breakfast or lunch, we're always satisfied. One star deducted: if you order a cocktail without ice, you only get half a glass. I think cocktails should be full even without ice. You pay for a cocktail, not for the ice.

I ordered this small pizza (can't remember exactly what it was called) chicken teriyaki, personally it was way too sweet for me. But my other blackheads at the table were thrilled with the food. Service was top. Gladly again.

The positive thing is that the food and drink selection is very good. Unfortunately it is super loud and noisy. Service is nice. But leaves you alone. We sat dry for a long time.

As a single person there was no normal table available, only a high table. Everyone else was n reserved. On the way out I noticed that there was room for two at a table by the window - without a reservation.

I am very disappointed! Today a cake was to be served as a surprise, for a fee of course! The lady brought the cake so listlessly without saying a word, we were really sad. It took more than half an hour before we could order! The things we ordered were handed over instead of being served neatly on the table! Very unprofessional! Then we should pay extra again for cutlery and plates! Absolute impudence. We had ordered a lot of drinks and food, then we were supposed to pay money for 3 forks and 1 plate. I don't know if Café Del Sol is so characterless or if it was just the employee. The citizen's bun was hard and crunchy, very unappetizing. Of course there wasn't a cent tip!

We picked up 2 schnitzels today. First of all, €18.90 per schnitzel for snack quality. The sauce is the best thing about it and was also the reason why we got it again. But unfortunately there was too little sauce last time, so we asked not to be so stingy because the sauce is usually absorbed by the fries during transport. A whopping €2.70 per person surcharge. That's €5.40 for both people. Just a disgrace for a dollop of more sauce. There is probably no such thing as service and customer satisfaction anymore. That was also the last time we ate or got something on site. This is just a rip off.

We regularly eat at the "Cafe del Sol's" and yesterday it was Kassel again. What sets this apart from many others is that you are always served relatively quickly and your food always comes reasonably to very quickly. That should be the bar for the other restaurants.

Unfortunately, we spent 15 minutes waiting before the waitress told us that her colleague would be coming soon because she wasn't responsible for the table. At this point we hadn't received any menus or been able to order anything to drink. Another 10 minutes and two direct addresses to the waitress later, we left, which no one seemed to care about. Apparently there is no need for customers here, especially since there were only about 20 guests there besides us.

Went there for breakfast on a sunny Saturday. With the exception of the sausage/cheese selection, we were left with nothing to be desired at the rich buffet.

Embarrassing, we went to breakfast with a reservation and we barely entered the place, there are more and more tables and they don't give you the option to change, I am a thin woman and I am not exaggerating that it was difficult for me to sit down. I understand that they want to make money but that is not the way, here you lost some potential clients. The breakfast wasn't amazing either.

If you want to take advantage of the breakfast buffet on Saturday or brunch on Sunday, you should have a reservation or only be a group of two or three people. Children running around and getting a little louder are not a problem there. It probably sees itself as a family restaurant. Only the parking spaces could become scarce and parking is not allowed on the street (no parking or limited parking). Since it is only a few hundred meters away from the exit of the A7 Kassel-Nord, this is also a good option if you are just driving past Kassel.

I've been to several cafes in Germany so far and I have to say that so far only the branch in Kassel has given me such a warm welcome. Especially when it comes to the staff, our waiter went out of his way to make our afternoon pleasant. Not positioned, but friendly. In particular, I really have to praise Mr. Wissam. Unfortunately, all parking spaces were full, which was also the case for other guests. The food was very good. Unfortunately they brought me the wrong burger. My food was taken away again, when my food came everyone else was already finished. Of course mistakes can happen, but an apology would also be nice to hear. In any case, my fries were probably warmed up again, they were pretty dark and didn't really taste good. Nevertheless, I would go again because the food was generally great.

Overall it's ok, but the sofas are worn out and it's very difficult to eat from the sofa as it's too low to the table. The toilets urgently need to be repaired, some cubicles are not lockable, and the toilet paper dispensers are broken...it is probably never cleaned or refilled every now and then, very disgusting, hence the 2 star deduction.
