⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 stars) Yesterday (starting at 6 pm), eight of us went to Café de Sol in Castrop-Rauxel to celebrate a birthday. The online reservation worked flawlessly – the standard booking is for two hours, but I was able to extend it by an extra hour over the phone. It was initially very busy, and parking is quite difficult, but our table was ready on time. The food was delicious, the drinks were excellent, and the overall atmosphere was very pleasant. I'd especially like to commend our server, Michele – incredibly kind, attentive, and friendly. She was always available, checked in several times to make sure everything was alright, and was simply very warm and welcoming. You really wish you had service like that everywhere! We were even allowed to stay longer at the end because it got quieter later on – that was very accommodating. In short: A highly recommended restaurant with great service, delicious food, and a relaxed atmosphere. The only downside: the poor parking situation right outside the door.

The salad was okay; I had ordered extra chicken with it. For almost €16 and five really small pieces of chicken, it was acceptable. I certainly won't order it like that again.

My wife wanted to reserve a table for herself and her friend for December 5th, 2025. Online reservations were only available for two hours. So, as recommended on the website, she called. On the phone, they told her they could give her an extra 30 minutes. My wife politely declined and asked what the point of a reservation was if they couldn't stay longer. The answer was that they didn't know how busy the café would be that day and therefore only had a limited time available. Isn't that what reservations are for? Planning security for both parties? My wife then wrote an email to Café del Sol. Today, Ms. Weidlich, the deputy manager, replied and explained the time limit by saying they wanted to offer all guests a "cozy table." What kind of justification is that? How cozy can an evening be when time is tight and you want to enjoy your food and drinks in a relaxed manner and have to rush through all the conversations?! This concept is clearly designed to maximize profit. My wife then wrote an email to Café del Sol. We're definitely done with this store and we're happy to share our experience! Luckily, there are plenty of alternatives!

Today was our first time at Cafe del Sol, and we were a little disappointed. The brunch buffet was plentiful, but only the small side dishes were actually tasty. The desserts were not recommended at all. The brownies were dry, and the puddings and cream desserts had a lumpy texture and tasted awful. The staff were friendly and efficient; no complaints there.

Sunday brunch buffet: Good food, excellent selection, and excellent freshness. But folks, at your level, you need a portafilter machine, not a WMF coffee machine! Therefore: - 1 ⭐️

The food was really great! The service was very friendly and attentive. But I wouldn't choose brunch again. €130 for four people with everything was way too much for me :) The ambiance only deserved 3 stars. We sat outside, with shelter from the weather, but we sat on the side where everything was still open. It was cold, even with the very thin blanket. Inside, it was much more cozy, but also considerably louder.

The burgers, especially the chili cheese burger, are highly recommended. For dessert, Belgian waffles or chocolate heaven are simply fantastic! A nice fresh peppermint tea with honey is delicious. I also recommend the currywurst with fries; everything is filling and already served. 😎👌

A very nice ambiance, and a major plus: the staff are incredibly warm, attentive, and helpful – something you don't experience often. You can tell that they really enjoy their work, and that makes the visit particularly pleasant. Vegan options are available and really good. We ordered to-go, and even after a 15-minute drive, the fries were still crispy and delicious.

Unfortunately, the schnitzels have declined considerably. The turkey schnitzels were really good until a few months ago, but unfortunately, they seem to have changed suppliers. I hope that changes again and I'll find out about it through the reviews. The team there is still great and makes every visit very special. We were there with our anxious dog and sat outside. I had my dog ​​on my lap. The waitress came over and said the dog had to sit or lie on the floor because of allergy risks. I've never heard such nonsense. I could understand it indoors, but not outdoors. We definitely won't be coming back.

It's easily accessible, located directly off the main road and motorway. But it's also always worth a visit for the great range of services and the familiar DeSol atmosphere.

I've been there several times and have always been completely satisfied with everything. On special days like Mother's Day, you have to book a table in advance. Very friendly staff, who will happily fulfill your wishes.

The food and service are excellent. The ambiance is standard Café del Sol. What we always notice is that it's quite loud. There's room for improvement there. Nevertheless, we'd be happy to come back. It's especially worth mentioning that dogs aren't a problem and are welcome.

The three of us ate at Café del Sol today - ordered the schnitzel flat rate and a total of four drinks, and ended up paying just under €81. Unfortunately I have to say: It was absolutely not worth it. The schnitzels were obviously frozen goods, the kind you get in wholesale markets (e.g. Metro) - neither taste nor quality was convincing. We were here once just eight months ago and they served real schnitzels like you would expect from a good restaurant. What we got today was, in my opinion, a disgrace for this price. Of course we are aware that everything has become more expensive - but then the quality should also be right. For the money you can get much better home cooking in other restaurants. Next time we'd rather pay €20 more and get real quality instead of a carelessly served standard. But praise goes to the service staff – our waitress was very friendly, attentive and really did a great job. The service was top - but unfortunately that alone is not enough to compensate for such a price-performance ratio. My honest opinion: I would not recommend Café del Sol. It's better to spend your money where quality is still valued.

Nice atmosphere, food is tasty but prices are high

NO SMOKING ON THE TERRACE! After I recently ended up back in the Café del Sol in Castrop-Rauxel by chance after a long absence (the menu so far didn't meet MY expectations) and then ate a really delicious pinsa there, I wanted to spend this Sunday afternoon (Mother's Day) there again with my daughter. As soon as we arrived we ordered a drink and asked for an ashtray. We were then informed that smoking was also forbidden on the covered terrace that day because of Mother's Day and the possibly increased number of children present (as usual there were only 4-5 children present). This was neither mentioned when reserving a table 2 days in advance nor was it otherwise apparent in any way in advance. It was probably still allowed on the sun terrace (in the blazing sun and 25°), which was inaccessible to me due to the steps there and my difficulty walking. We then decided to forego the planned meal there and left again. Until now I have always understood all the restrictions for smokers in closed rooms, but a ban on smoking outdoors clearly goes too far! It's a shame that it ruined our day so much. And since I don't want to experience such a surprise there again in the future, I will definitely avoid this store again in the future.

We meet there once a month for brunch with our group of girls. Super nice service staff. We always enjoy coming there, even if we have to drive a bit. Even if it's a chain, I think this restaurant is particularly good. It's worth the journey sometimes. We'll be back.

We really always enjoyed going to Café del Sol. But yesterday evening was really a joke. My husband and I ordered schnitzel vacation twice. The first schnitzel was delicious, but the second round was clearly a pork schnitzel and not a turkey schnitzel (even though we mentioned it at least 3 times!). I'm sorry, but that's not possible! According to the waitress it is a new recipe. So I'm sorry, but we're not completely wrong. The first schnitzel was very different from the second and you could tell from the smell that this wasn't a turkey schnitzel. Our complaint was hardly addressed. Just under 50€ left there for nothing! I'm sorry Café del Sol Castrop but you have lost us as customers. This is outrageous!!!

In our opinion, 5 stars are still not enough; If we could, we would give a lot more! After our civil wedding, we had our wedding dinner at Café Del Sol and couldn't have imagined a better place. The preliminary conversation with the operations manager and her representative took away all the excitement and we felt we were in good hands there! The team was incredibly accommodating, relaxed and warm and arranged the tables beautifully according to our wishes and ideas. The service as well as the food was simply great, quick & uncomplicated! We, as well as our guests, really enjoyed it and felt really comfortable. Many thanks again to the team for the wonderful day and the great implementation of our wishes. We will come back!! Unfortunately I was disappointed today. Today I ordered the Schnitzel Cafe Del Sol, as a turkey schnitzel. However, I didn't get schnitzel but rather breaded patties. Why this is done now is a mystery to me. You used to get real schnitzel.

I didn't eat, just drank coffee. The service is good, friendly and fast. As with all Cafe Del Sol. I've never been there before, but it didn't seem like it at all. For me, the ambience is just right so that time flies quickly and you regret saying goodbye. The prices for coffee are like everywhere else in the catering industry!

The food at Café del Sol is still very tasty, but the dishes are not what they used to be! The schnitzel was particularly disappointing - it was so small that it was more reminiscent of a nugget. The portions used to be more generous, and the quality felt better overall. What hasn't changed, however, is the service: the service is still great, friendly and attentive. It's a shame that the kitchen is no longer up to the same standard as before!

When we ordered we were asked whether we were fasting and when the food would be served - a really nice gesture. We were also given dates and water, which we were very happy about. Probably the last visit to Cafe del Sol. The food is relatively expensive for the quality you get there. My fries were totally over salted and the burger patty didn't taste particularly good. The food was similar to a frozen meal at home. - Simply too expensive for that. I miss the quality of 2-3 years ago.

Food and drink always quick and fresh. January 8, 2023 Today we had Sunday brunch for the first time. Everything was the best as described. 4 people, 230 euros in 6 hours. The only minus: the coffee costs extra unnecessarily

Unfortunately, we (2 people) were assigned a very small table, even though it was still quite early and many other larger tables were unoccupied and not reserved. I checked that. So much for that. Our drinks didn't come to the table until about 5 to 7 minutes after our meal. I don't understand it. The food itself (schnitzel) was so-so. Overall, a very, very poor performance. Too bad. It is more than questionable whether we will ever go to this restaurant again.

Unfortunately, we were not at all satisfied with our accommodation. Currently a limited menu as no kitchen is currently available. This could perhaps have been noted in advance on the homepage. Some of the waitresses were very friendly, while others tried to include something in the billing process that we hadn't ordered at all. After a long discussion back and forth, it became apparent that the lady wanted to charge the wrong table. The toilets are also currently under renovation. As a woman you had to use the disabled toilet, which meant there was only one toilet available. Unfortunately, the cleanliness also left something to be desired. There were guests around us who came with around 15-20 people. They were standing in the aisles and were so loud that you could no longer understand your own words. You just felt restricted and uncomfortable. And we watched to leave the restaurant quickly. Comfortable is different. Unfortunately 0 stars

Ambience - nice - 5 stars Service - friendly and fast - 5 stars Food - delicious - only the sauce on the entire schnitzel wasn't necessary. The whole schnitzel was too greasy for me. Salad needs improvement. A bit of green leaves and that was it. I'm not a rabbit. But it's just my opinion.

Everything's great, but I find it really much too loud, partly due to the lack of partitions that would break up the noise. No, I'm not old 🤣 but when I literally have to shout at the person I'm talking to when I'm talking, it's really annoying in the long run. Therefore only 3 stars out of 5 for the ambience

Well located Del Sol. As in all the others, you find your way straight away. The service is attentive and friendly. The food and drinks here are the same as at others in the chain. There are enough parking spaces available.
