Café del Lago in Salzgitter

Today we were at cafedelago, we sat nice and comfortably. The waitress came to our table (name Michel) and said really cheekily that we should get up from our seat. And that others will come. So that was very, very unpleasant for us to say in that tone! you don't. We wanted to get up and leave anyway.

Very nice view. Good selection of food.

The schnitzel was a pressed schnitzel and came from the deep fryer. Not seasoned and very greasy. The fries were too dark and therefore too hard. We will never eat hot meals there again. The staff was polite.

We are always drawn to Café del Lago. Staff is always friendly. Simply visit it yourself 😉

We were there with a group of 6 people. The service was friendly, but unfortunately only tried hard at first. After 2 of us left at 8:30 p.m., we were asked exactly once what we wanted and then unfortunately ignored. At around 9.30 p.m. the tables were prepared for breakfast and we continued to be ignored. We then had to go to the cash register to pay. We weren't the last guests either, the restaurant was still well attended. Unfortunately, the baked potatoes were at best lukewarm and the fries weren't quite cooked through. We always enjoyed being there, but it's very unpleasant as it is. But the ambience is great.

The food (kale/currywurst) was lukewarm. Shrimp dry, smoked pork dry. Plenty of side dishes. Drinks ok. Service very friendly.

Thank you very much for the great afternoon. On Mr. Lässig's recommendation, I had the leg of cheese. Extremely delicious. My husband had schnitzel. The table was beautifully decorated and then there was candlelight. It was a beautiful wedding day. Thanks to the whole team. We'll come back and spread the word about how beautiful it is there.

I was there for lunch on a Monday and the menu advertised Schnitzel Monday for 10 euros. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a deception, because the schnitzel doesn't come with any side dishes for 10 euros, you have to order them and a portion of fries costs an incredible 5.50 euros and hunter's sauce costs 3.50 euros. The side dishes are not discounted, so you “only” pay 19 euros for a Jägerschnitzel instead of 22 euros. Sorry but that's really ridiculous. The schnitzel itself wasn't bad, but this enticing offer borders on ripping off customers. Unfortunately I won't be coming again.

Two weeks ago I was there with a few friends in great weather. We came without a reservation and were lucky to get a table outside. I chose the currywurst with fries and was not disappointed. It was so delicious and the fries were crispier than crispy. My girlfriend ordered a burger with sweet potato fries, which was also delicious. For dessert there was ice cream with cream. I would definitely come back.

We were in this cafe in August. Frankly speaking, the location overlooks the lake, YES, the interior is also YES. We got an unpleasant waiter, not only were we not able to sit downstairs closer to the water (lower tables), I suppose it was not prohibited, the waiters just did not want to run up and down, but I don’t know for sure, they didn’t explain it to us, they just made it clear that we would not sit downstairs, and placed people near the entrance. So I was also after the hospital, while we were waiting for the order, yes, I put my water on the table, because for medical reasons I need to constantly drink water, of course I understand that perhaps the cafe’s regulations do not allow this, but any refusal can be made in different forms, so guys, it’s really unpleasant, in what form the waiter made a remark to me. Okay, ah, now directly about the food. The salad is “dry”, yes there is a lot of it, but it would be good to have a nice, tasty sauce with it, which will reveal and emphasize the taste of the vegetables, then the pasta is ordinary, but the fish is tasty. At least for me personally, there was no desire to come again.

We come here several times a year. Food always good. Nice service. Sometimes you have to wait a long time for your order to be taken or your drinks to be served. Very pleasant, warm decor of the restaurant.

We love this place and have been coming here for years, good food and drinks, fast and friendly service, and a wonderful view of the lake, making you feel like it’s a fancy waterfront resort. However, after coming back here more than a year since last time we now found it way too expensive and prices have gone up way too much (and portions seem to have gotten smaller too!)… that has disappointed us tremendously and we have decided to only have coffees and drinks from now on only… what a shame that is

Very nicely located restaurant directly on Lake Salzgitter. Unfortunately, the associated ice cream kiosk is apparently closed this year. Update from October 20th, 2024: we were at Cafe' del Lago again this weekend - admittedly it was quite busy but the service that day was below all... After about 40! Within minutes our ordered ice cream and our cappuccino arrived - to save time I told the waiter that I wanted to pay straight away - he said "yes, I'll come back straight away" - then another half hour passed until he finally came back - we got a tip None and I think I won't go there again if it's busy. (We weren't the only ones who waited annoyed for the waiter).

Very nice and well-kept restaurant. The meals were delicious. Price/performance is at the upper limit with a trend of being “expensive”.

A very cozy atmosphere with a great view of the lake. I've been there twice now after the first review and have to change my review. Something went wrong with the orders on both visits. Side dishes had to be added because they were simply forgotten. Chanterelles, for example, only came when the plate was almost empty. When I asked if I could have pasta instead of fries with a dish, I got the answer: It's only possible as it says on the menu. Very inflexible for me as a guest. We had to pay 2 euros for a small bowl (a little larger than an egg cup) of parmesan. No matter where I've eaten so far, I've never had to pay extra for parmesan. And last but not least, the windows were very dirty inside and out. When the sun came out, you couldn't see anything of the lake anymore. It's a shame.

The cafe is beautiful. Little things went wrong with the service due to the digital ordering system, even though it was done super cool! The dessert we ordered was simply not tasty and too dry. We didn't eat anything else. In the past the food has always tasted good, but it's been a while since I can judge it. We were satisfied with the visit and would like to come back.

So far I haven't liked any of the dishes. You can eat much better elsewhere for less money.

Wednesday lunch: Rump steak with herb butter, ordered rare-medium, steak was completely done. Despite waving, the service didn't come to complain. The shop was almost empty. When I was paying I was finally able to mention that the steak was well done - and the waitress just said "it will be better next time". So basically shoe soles and cappuccino for 40 € Thursday evening, ordered salad without dressing, received with dressing. Noticed too late because the dressing was hidden under the salad and had an allergic reaction. Only the service was really friendly on Thursday. But it still didn't help because I had to go home hungry. Looks aren't everything.

The Café del Lago is a café/lounge or restaurant located directly on the promenade of Lake Salzgitter. We went for breakfast brunch with a group of eight people and felt well looked after and welcomed. First of all, it should be said that the ambience of the large dining room impresses with the long window front, which offers a view of the water of Lake Salzgitter. Because there are palm trees on the terrace, the viewer immediately gets a very nice maritime and almost holiday-like feeling of well-being. There are still places on the terrace for guests who would like to enjoy the sun and the wind. Since we were guests at the end of September, almost all of the guests were in the guest room. The buffet (note: reserve seats in advance) offered everything. what you wanted. From fruit and yoghurt dishes to cheese, sausage and scrambled eggs as well as warm mushrooms and small sausages. The quality of the food on offer was "just" above average, but not exclusive (which it didn't have to be). I couldn't find the salmon that was found in other places and probably part of the ambience and the rolls were a bit underbaked and rare, otherwise the dishes were rich and there was a very wide selection. Because of the large number of guests, the extremely attentive service staff kept refilling and taking drinks orders. The toilets, which are located one floor below (there is an elevator for people with mobility issues!), were modern, very clean and there was music playing. What more could you want? The Café del Lago is only recommended for the breakfast buffet/brunch; We had fun and more than made up for the distance from our home. Try it out, you should like it too. Nothing can be said at this point about the restaurant operation or the Linge / Spiritousen.

Am „Biertag“ (Dienstags) wurde das teurere Bier ausgeschenkt statt das günstigere Angebotsbier. Leider ohne Hinweis des Kellners. Erst auf der Rechnung gesehen. Wir hatten ein Radler bestellt und keine besondere Sorte gewünscht. Ansonsten war das Essen okay.

A beautiful place in chaos! It is large and beautifully located. Ordering was initially difficult because it was partly intended for self-service but was poorly communicated. A comment at the table would be helpful. Once we figured out how and where to order, we were faced with a stressed and annoyed duo in a ship's hull. Coffee machine broken, kitchen selection not in my head (or on a piece of paper). With luck we got a table with service. The food and drinks were OK. There is still room for improvement. Here too the waiter was overwhelmed and stressed. Just an assembly line. Still reasonably friendly. It's actually a shame, as it's such a great building in a beautiful location...

Extremely overpriced. The quality is low. Ordered a tarte flambée (€17) and a cocktail (€10). The tarte flambée costs €3.5 in the supermarket and tastes much better. Was dry and with little coating. The cocktail was very cheaply made and didn't taste good. The prices are not justified. You probably only pay for the beautiful view of the lake.

Ketchup tasted like soap. Unfriendly staff. Too bad, won't come back...

Creepy. Penne as aqua!. The noodles were floating in water. Paired with zero taste. Every bad canteen does this better. This was subsequently confirmed by several people. I have no idea why the store is so full. There probably isn't that much choice in Salzgitter.

Waiters (self-service) who didn't really seem to know how things worked and were happy to wait for them. Coffee and apple strudel/Kaiserschmarrn nothing special. Location is naturally beautiful and everything is visually appealing.

This location is a very pleasant place where we have had many wonderful times. Whether it's a Sunday brunch with the family or a burger in the evening, there's a lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Then a walk by the lake - what more could you want?

I wanted to have lunch with my family on Sunday. I made a reservation by phone on Saturday. The shop, I deliberately don't say restaurant, was recommended to me by friends. The waitress didn't tell me your name, but she confirmed my reservation. She was already hectic and overwhelmed on the phone. She asked for my last name several times and it seemed like there was a lot going on. The “Hadde bye” at the end of the phone call already made me suspicious. We had a long journey and were looking forward to the meal and were glad we had made a reservation because all hell was going on at the lake. The disappointment came when registering: The reservation was not entered. A completely overwhelmed lady let us know that she was only a temporary worker and that I had probably only spoken to a temporary worker. She didn't believe me when I called the day before. She wanted to know who I was talking to and I pointed out a foreign accent and the “Hadde bye”. There was no one she could place, she told me and said it was better to reserve online. She couldn't give me an apology or understanding in the rush and explained to me that there was self-service on the boat. The supposed regular guests (without reservations) who had sneaked in ahead of us were kindly shown to a table with service. Then I showed her the phone history on my phone to confirm. With a bad luck, everything is full of goodbye attitude, she fobbed us off immediately and we were allowed to sit on the deck in the sun after waiting 1 hour. Food was okay and luckily came, although we couldn't even get a receipt for self-service. Overall, we were disappointed and you can tell that skilled service staff are not the top priority here, despite the professional explanation on the website of what a waiter should be able to do to work there. Ridiculous. No apology, no understanding, just temporary workers and mass processing. In defense: It was full, great weather in late summer on Sunday and you could tell people were being chased from above. So I ask myself, why don't you send people away and let those in charge make the reservations? I would have understood that. Someone just wants to regenerate as much sales as possible with as few personnel costs as possible. A disgrace in my opinion. I get more service at every chip shop. As a tip: pay sensibly and don't just employ unskilled people. The trained forces could have led with more coordination. This has nothing to do with a shortage of skilled workers. There were enough busy people and busybodies. It's a shame, because the kitchen was good, certainly professionals too. Understandably, the food took longer to arrive, but the service had coordination problems and had to run back and forth under stress and, despite my correct order, brought one too many dishes, which they immediately took away from me. Beautiful furnishings and a good view don't take away everything! I'm just sorry about the service there, you don't want to work there. Greetings to the management, we won't be coming back.

We went to Cafe Del Lago for lunch today, Sunday. The currywurst was extremely tasty and the fries were wonderfully crispy. However, we found the service to be poor. We had reserved a table, the table was not prepared. There were still crumbs on the table. We hadn't received a menu yet, a waitress came and asked what we wanted. Since we already knew that we wanted to eat a currywurst, we ordered tea and apple spritzer and the currywurst. After a while the tea was brought, the apple spritzer was still missing. Then an employee brought a basket with cutlery. We only had to request the napkins after the food had already been served. The apple spritzer only came after request. The location is wonderful. Great view of Lake Salzgitter. Service also polite and quick. We regularly come to the breakfast buffet when we visit here. It seems as if the tenant has changed. In any case, the variety and quality of the breakfast buffet has decreased. I hope this will be corrected again. The menu, which hasn't changed at all for a long time, seems to get new ideas every now and then, which we really appreciate. All in all a great address that has developed well.. With some room for improvement…

Hello everyone 🙋, I was at Café del Lago for the first time on August 31, 2024, which is located on Lake Salzgitter, almost in the center of the city. I was pleasantly surprised by the entire ambience, the lake and the beautifully laid out Café del Lago with the view of the lake from the lakeside terrace...the lower part of the café with seating/table options in the middle of the fine beach sand with palm trees...it's quite something Holiday feeling that you only know from southern holiday countries... Drove there spontaneously, was able to switch off completely.. since I was there late in the afternoon at 6 p.m. I was able to enjoy the sunset 🌅 over the lake... Really very nice ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️.....Food was also delicious, but the portions could/should have been But it should be a little bigger... Because it's not really the case... that only coaches with pensioners travel there and eat correspondingly small amounts of food... The taste is great 👍 ....only the service can still be improved...😉 All in all, highly recommended... I'll visit there once or twice...

Where has my beloved currywurst gone, which was still available during Corona in the summer of 2020? What was served to us on Tuesday lunchtime was absolutely nothing: lukewarm, heavily fried sausage with ketchup from the very large discount store dispenser (or even bucket?), on top of that loads of curry powder from the also large dispenser...but sweet potato fries without anything, should have been neutralize. Guys, go to the Upper Palatinate, there you can get the real VW sausage, instead of a lake view with a view of green meadows, fruit trees and with very nice service!!!

It's a shame that such a beautiful place is ruined by some of the boss's requirements. We asked nicely if we could put 2 tables together since we were 5 people. We were rudely told that we weren't allowed to do that. We can put a chair at the table for four or look for a larger table on the other side 😒that's what we call hospitality today

August 28, 2024 Cafe de Lago...better not... We as a group of women are very disappointed with the service. To eat and drink on the outside terrace at 28 degrees, we pushed two tables together for glasses and plates. An employee then told us that she had to put the two tables apart again so that we could go inside. No MA at Cafe de Lago was willing to put two tables together on the terrace for us. The overall atmosphere from the service was just energetic and unfriendly. Even when we left the restaurant there was nothing but ridicule for us Cafe de Lago...better not

It was Sunday lunchtime but not that busy yet, so the service was faster than I could with my smartphone -:) So everything is perfect. The food, very large portions that definitely justify the initially somewhat daunting price. It tasted delicious, we'll be back.

Speisekarte kommt zügig auf den sauberen Tisch. Getränke kommen zügig nach Bestellung. Essen lecker. Lachs mit Penne, Penne mit Pfifferlingen und ein Burger. Rundum zufrieden.

We wanted to have a fun evening with 5 women and first ordered a nice meal. Some had an extra burger with hot sauce, others a baked potato. The food tasted very good. However, there was no noticeable spiciness on the burger. When we paid, however, we were amazed at the amount of the surcharge. Afterwards we enjoyed a cocktail. 4 of them with one (the driver) without alcohol. 3 of the cocktails were supposed to be sex in the beach. After the first sips, we realized that this was neither sex on the beach nor alcoholic. We called the waitress and told her our impression. Also, the three drinks that were actually the same looked completely different. She took the drinks with her and then brought them back to us. We drank some and said there was still no alcohol in it. Then she said to us: I saw that alcohol had been poured into the glasses. That they now have a cocktail machine and it was out of alcohol. So, mind you, we got the same cocktails (whether it was our own or one of the neighbors?????) which still weren't the same in color and had to be content with that. Our conclusion afterwards was: Never get a machine cocktail there again for €9.50. Then we'd rather go to the beach bar, watch the delicious cocktail being prepared and pay a fair price.
