Almost like being in the Mediterranean, with very fast and friendly service, and a delicious, plentiful breakfast.

The staff is unfortunately distracted and simply doesn't listen. Neither when ordering nor when paying.

We held our department Christmas party there and were thrilled. We sent our order (appetizer + main course) in advance as an Excel spreadsheet via email and were even able to make a few changes on the same day. Everything went smoothly; both the appetizers and main courses arrived almost simultaneously. Nothing was missing, and the portions were generous enough for everyone. The waitresses (a young blonde woman and a young dark-haired woman) were attentive, always very friendly, and never seemed stressed, even though we were a group of 25. One of the waitresses even noticed that some of us spoke better English and spoke to the colleagues in English. Thank you so much! We wish the entire team a wonderful and successful winter season :) P.S. I usually eat the Indonesian pulled pork at Cafe Del Lago and highly recommend it.

I recently visited this restaurant, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The location is perfect — right near the water, offering a peaceful and breathtaking view. Hello, here's our experience from last night, November 22, 2025. The atmosphere was great. However, dogs are not welcome here! I had my 3kg Bolonka dog with me in a bag for the evening. After our drinks arrived, we were asked five minutes later to remove the dog or leave. At 2°C, that was outrageous. After paying the bill, we were given four looks to finally leave. The fifth time, the employee stood two meters from our table and wouldn't move until we got up. We didn't finish our drinks. My dog ​​had peacefully settled down under my chair and fallen asleep. I've never experienced such unfriendly service. Then they added an "apology"...disgusting. I didn't see the "no dogs" policy on the website, nor was there a sign supposedly posted at the entrance. A great location with a terrible business sense. Therefore, many negative points from me. I will never visit that store again!!!

We go to Cafe le Lago for breakfast about once a month. Whether it's the buffet or à la carte, the food is delicious, the selection is fantastic, and the service is very friendly and attentive. It couldn't be better! 👍🏻

We love coming here, both in the summer to sit outside and in the colder months to sit inside. The staff is attentive and friendly, the food is good, and the prices are reasonable. Of course, the fantastic location right on the lake with its stunning view is particularly noteworthy.

Large café/restaurant. Service is fast and friendly. We were there for a birthday party and asked if there was anything for the birthday girl. The birthday girl received a brownie and a small firework, which was very sweet.

I haven't experienced such unfriendly service in a long time. Not apologizing for mistakes, not even wishing guests a nice evening when they bid farewell, but simply a quick, rude "bye"—that's really unacceptable. We would have loved to ask for our tip back. Sad!

We've always enjoyed coming here, but what we experienced on October 13th was simply unbelievable. We had reserved a table by the window for 4 p.m. with a friendly employee a few days in advance. The service was friendly and we ordered herring with baked potato and pulled pork. The baked potato came cold, and after complaining, another cold potato came. The pulled pork was also only lukewarm! The fish was eaten without the cold potato and the pulled pork was lukewarm. The whole thing had dragged on for a while, and we wanted to have another drink and dessert in peace. Then another employee came to the table and told us, in a very rude manner, that we had to leave immediately; the table would be reserved again from 6 p.m. We didn't want to believe it, but the lady got angry. We've never experienced anything like this in a restaurant before: a table we reserved was reserved again and we couldn't even eat dessert. We even had to leave our half-drunk drinks.

I actually really like this place, but recently I've noticed the unfriendly behavior of some of the employees. There were problems right from the ordering stage: A friend wasn't allowed to change her drink, even though we also ordered food. When we asked for "water," we were given sparkling water—even though we didn't want it. The reaction to that was also less than pleasant. The ginger lemonade came without any pieces ("just decoration," according to the statement), and my waffle was unfortunately half-burned and very hard. It's a shame; I expect more friendliness and attentiveness from the staff.

It's worth a visit, but please make a reservation. Great service and delicious food.

We had breakfast with our wedding party at Café del Lago the morning after the ceremony. The selection was huge and incredibly delicious. All guests were thrilled with the ambiance and service. 100% recommended. Reserving was easy, despite our large group of 60 people. 100% recommended.

Beautiful location, directly on the Salzgittersee, with a rich menu, delicious dishes, and exceptionally friendly service. A visit is absolutely worthwhile. One caveat: the breakfast buffet for almost 200 people is too much for the restaurant. A 50-minute wait is beyond tolerable, and the shortage of skilled staff in the service department is also evident here...a shame.

Now that's what I call an experience: a great atmosphere by the lake, friendly service, and delicious food. So if you haven't been here yet, you're really missing out.

We were there for breakfast. The food was delicious and was refilled relatively quickly. Unfortunately, there weren't enough seeded rolls for my personal taste. I also think that for almost €20, you'd expect salmon at the breakfast buffet. Unfortunately, there wasn't any. The roast beef was okay but rather bland (again, a matter of personal taste). I think the selection was still good, and everyone could find something they liked (there were also vegan options). However, the price-performance ratio wasn't quite balanced. The staff were very nice and, despite the crowds, always served quickly and, above all, were very friendly. I also really like the maritime ambiance, and the restaurant feels clean and well-maintained.

For a stopover for a drink, in a sunny location, overlooking the water, really relaxing

We had breakfast there with a large group as part of a company outing. Unfortunately, it took a long time to refill our food, and some of the staff were rude.

We're here today for a company outing. The buffet ran out, and it took forever to restock. The café knew how many of us were coming! 30% of us didn't even make it to the buffet! Instead of making it bigger or something, no, but they collected the money! No milk at our tables, no refills of coffee, nothing! I was actually really looking forward to it... Thanks for nothing!

A very cozy atmosphere with a great view of the lake. I've been there twice now after the first review and have to change my review. Something went wrong with the orders on both visits. Side dishes had to be added because they were simply forgotten. Chanterelles, for example, only came when the plate was almost empty. When I asked if I could have pasta instead of fries with a dish, I got the answer: It's only possible as it says on the menu. Very inflexible for me as a guest. We had to pay 2 euros for a small bowl (a little larger than an egg cup) of parmesan. No matter where I've eaten so far, I've never had to pay extra for parmesan. And last but not least, the windows were very dirty inside and out. When the sun came out, you couldn't see anything of the lake anymore. It's a shame.

I celebrated my birthday there yesterday. It was simply wonderful. The atmosphere was fantastic. The service was excellent. The food was excellent. All 41 guests were thrilled. Thank you so much. We'd love to go again. 😊

We had tarte flambée with salmon. The dough didn't taste like fresh dough, but rather rubbery. The price: Unfortunately, I can't think of much positive to say about it, except: €19.20 for a tarte flambée with really poor toppings and a tasteless crust. We found the price completely overpriced... Better to just have a drink, though; the drinks were good...

A very nice restaurant right on Lake Salzgitter. Very nice ambiance, both during the day and late in the evening. The food was definitely okay, but not particularly spectacular. I didn't find the selection particularly extensive or appealing. But for coffee and cake, I can definitely recommend it. Unfortunately, all I can say about the service is that we waited a very long time, despite the fact that the place was relatively empty... Of course, that could also have been because there weren't enough staff!

Great restaurant and great service! You can decide for yourself whether you want to eat expensively (two of us paid just over €60 the first time) or cheaply (we were there on August 15, 2025, and paid around €34 for the main course, a large drink, and dessert). We've only been there four times so far, and yesterday we were greeted by our regular waiter again, even though he didn't serve us this time. We'd love to come back here in the future.

Great food, excellent service, but the ambiance. It deserved a 5*, but because the music was too loud and not international, unfortunately only a 4*.

A nice place in itself, but you're labeled a second-class society, and that's fine with her. We went canoeing with the kids at Salzgittersee and then went there in our swimwear to get ice cream. We didn't go inside the house but were served outside. The ice cream was delicious, but when the kids wanted to go to the bathroom, they were refused entry. They weren't allowed inside, neither to wash, to go to the toilet, or anything else. Everyone was immediately sent away and expelled because they were wearing swimwear. That's not acceptable for a guest who spent a lot of money in the house/on the terrace.

I received a reservation confirmation and presented it, but it wasn't acknowledged by the staff because it wasn't the correct confirmation?!? The email says "reservation confirmation." Sorry, but this could be organized much better.

Now it's over! ... with the waiting. I sat in the self-service section, and with the QR code order, I didn't have to wait for service, and my drink was ready in 2 minutes. And I'm reporting on a Sunday, sunny weather, and about 80% of the tables occupied. I think it's really good. The only potential problem I see is if someone sits down at my table while I'm picking up my drink... (since I was alone). I hope we can come to an agreement then 🤷‍♂️

The location is perfect; we had breakfast at various times, sipped ice cream and drinks, and also used the bistro area. Service was good, fast, and friendly. The food was also good, but also expensive, appropriate for the location. We've always been satisfied, whether with 2-3 people or 15 people. We'd be happy to come back! It's quite large inside, and some people found it a bit noisy, but I didn't, even though I'm sensitive to that.

The location is great, right by the lake, but the staff is a disaster...as a customer, you're not served. You only have to ask, and if you're lucky enough, like me, to be ignored because you don't fit in politically (from afar, brother here, brother there), you're left standing there, looking stupid, and have to ask three or four other waitresses when you can order!!! Not recommended, unless you're a brother!!???

The portions were bland and too small. When the waiter asked if it was tasty, I noticed that they suddenly barely spoke any German. A shame...

There's a wonderful atmosphere here at Lake Salzgitter. Right on the lake, delicious food and drinks. The e-bike tour from Hildesheim to Lake Salzgitter is definitely worth it!

The location is really great, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. When I order, I don't want the waiter standing next to me smacking their lips and asking what I want. Waiting almost 20 minutes for two glasses of soda and a piece of cake isn't so great either (it wasn't even that busy).

A sensational location, but beware: If you order and pay online outside, you won't be served if the "Boot" counter is closed. You'll have to point out your order to the restaurant and be lucky if you don't hear, "Can't you see that the boat is closed?" In my opinion, this could be handled more professionally. But we'll try again soon. The location and the venue are simply too great!

Warning! Not for those with a light appetite! 😉 Because everything tastes fantastic! We spontaneously stopped by Café del Lago for dinner and received a warm welcome. It was very busy, but we still managed to get a nice seat. The ordering system is brilliant: simply scan the QR code at the table and order. You can also order the traditional way with the waiter, who was immediately there and gave us super-friendly advice. The drinks and food arrived in no time, and everything tasted incredibly good! The homemade lemonade was just as much of a taste experience as the meat! Blankets are available for guests eating on the terrace if it gets too chilly. Dogs are also allowed on the terrace, and a water bowl is provided. The ambiance of the restaurant is truly beautiful, with thoughtful details and a modern feel. The surroundings are, of course, magnificent as well. We decided to have breakfast at this restaurant and stayed overnight in the large parking lot right by the lake. There was an extensive breakfast buffet with everything your heart could desire! The restaurant was busy again, so a reservation is recommended just to be on the safe side, but we were lucky again and got a table right away. Keep up the good work—it was fantastic!

The six of us were denied food and drinks because you're not allowed to sit at two tables outside with six people. It wasn't busy, and the reason given was that if it was full, you weren't allowed to. Thanks for the great service from Tim Lessing—the supposed manager.

We were there for Sunday brunch and have only positive things to say. The service and the food were excellent. There was nothing to complain about. We will definitely be back.

We enjoy the beautiful location and view of Lake Salzgitter as often as possible. The staff are always very friendly and in a good mood. Considering the distances the waiters travel during the day, and unfortunately, you also often encounter guests who aren't so friendly. For us, it's always like a mini-vacation when we sit on the terrace in the evening, watch the pedal boats, eat something delicious, and drink a glass of wine or homemade lemonade. The food always comes quickly and tastes good. The beverage selection is enormous, and every lemonade, iced tea, or cocktail is beautifully decorated and a pleasure to drink. I'm well aware that the menu doesn't offer luxury food. Given the large location, that's hardly possible anyway. It would be better to structure the menu in a way that's manageable for the kitchen and doesn't make guests wait for hours.

Unfortunately, the table hadn't been cleaned of the previous guests' leftovers. Ordered apple pie with crumble. I got a wedge. It was dry, mostly without crumble. I could only eat half of it. Despite being very hungry. Bad luck 🤷‍♂️

The staff is exceptionally friendly and genuinely takes their time with their work. The food is delicious and, above all, very plentiful. The side dishes are also plentiful and very tasty. The prices are averagely high. Combined with the view of the lake and the overall appearance, this is an absolute must!

Unfortunately, it's not a child-friendly restaurant! We were there with several adults and children and were greeted very unfriendly upon arrival. We weren't even allowed to rearrange the tables slightly, even though we wanted to sit together with eight people, including children. Overall, the atmosphere was rather rude and unwelcoming. It's a shame, because we were actually looking forward to a relaxing visit. Unfortunately, we can't recommend this restaurant for families.

We were satisfied and felt quite comfortable until one of your employees informed us that we had to pay now because a larger group was expecting us. We had reserved a table for 12:00, and at 1:30 p.m., it was over for us. It was a shame, as we would have liked to have had something to drink or dessert. Several tables around us were empty. Since it was a long-awaited family reunion for us, we were very disappointed. It would have been nice to have informed us of this beforehand. Then we would have had the choice to meet elsewhere. In the evening / , sunset a great place

Die Lage und die Aussicht ist wirklich schön und in Salzgitter leider ohne Alternative. Entsprechend kann sich das Café del Lago als Gastgeber alles erlauben. Qualitativ findet sich auf dem Teller überwiegend fettiges Fastfood wieder. Ich möchte keine Behauptungen aufstellen, denn ich bin in der Küche nicht dabei, deshalb formuliere ich es mal so: geschmacklich erinnert Vieles an TK-Ware aus der Fritteuse. Vor allen Dingen wenn es um die Beilagen geht - warmes gesundes Gemüse sucht man hier sowieso vergeblich (nur bei Saison-Gerichten gibt es mal Pfifferlinge, Rotkohl,..). Irgendwann am Nachmittag wird die Musik zu laut aufgedreht - man kann sich kaum noch unterhalten und manchmal gibt's auch laute Rockmusik, die einem das letzte Gefühl für Entspannung nimmt. Was bei vielen für Verwunderung und Ärgernis sorgt: Ab 5 Personen ist man auf der oberen Außenterrasse unerwünscht. Entweder wechselt man bei schönstem Wetter nach drinnen oder man sitzt draußen getrennt, denn: Tische verrücken und zusammenstellen ist verboten!! Warum?! Anordnung vom Chef. Tut mir leid für das Personal, denn die müssen diese verwirrten Vorschriften umsetzen und bekommen immer den ganzen Frust der Gäste ab. Positiv kann ich aber noch erwähnen, dass man ohne Personal bestellen und bezahlen kann. Auf den Tischen sind QR-Codes - scannen, aus der angezeigten Karte auswählen und bestellen und am Ende kann hierüber auch bezahlt werden. Total easy.
