Extended company holiday. Unfortunately, this isn't posted here on the maps or down by the castle entrance. It wouldn't have been such a huge effort to inform the guests.

Great restaurant with great food and friendly service. Always again

We went there today on the recommendation of Christian Bau, who reviewed the restaurant in his column in Welt am Sonntag. Our positive expectations, especially regarding the value for money, were fully met (here, parpadelle with fish and shellfish)... This won't be our last visit...

"This is unbelievable!" we thought: A three-star chef praises an "ordinary" restaurant and publicly admits that he visits it regularly. Christian Bau, head chef at the "Victor's Fine Dining" restaurant in Perl-Nenning, gave this free advertising to the "Burgrestaurant di Vincenzo Di Tuoro" in Saarburg. We couldn't resist checking it out. To put it bluntly: The star chef's assessment was certainly correct, and we were happy to have received this tip and visited the restaurant, a half-hour drive from Trier. In light of the expert criticism of this absolute expert, it may be hypertrophic for laypeople to add an additional appreciation. Nevertheless, we would like to add a few words from our perspective on our visit on Sunday. A traditional Italian restaurant is known to have the following multi-course structure: antipasti, primo patto (pasta/risotto), secondo piatto (meat/fish), dolce, espresso, and regional wine. Pizza is not available. Such restaurants are very rare in our region, and not at all in Trier, for example. The menu at the castle restaurant follows exactly this principle and is pleasingly straightforward. For antipasti, we chose a poached egg from the pan on a crispy potato nest with pea cream and Parmesan foam (€15), Apulian burrata (fresh cheese from the Apulia region), and a colorful tomato salad with Sicilian pesto made from dried tomatoes and almonds (€16.50). Both were absolute taste experiences. We felt transported to southern Italy. We skipped the pasta (primo piatti) because it would have been too much. The main course followed: I chose grilled sea bass fillet with roasted potatoes, fresh leaf spinach, and eggplant sauce (€31), while my wife chose grilled squid, shrimp, and octopus with mashed potatoes, green beans, and gremolata (a herb and spice blend from Lombardy) for €33. Both dishes were perfectly balanced in flavor and tasted excellent. Our culinary journey concluded with hazelnut ice cream with espresso served in a cup for a mere €5. Considering this bargain, I treated myself to a scoop of homemade white chocolate ice cream (€1.80). My wife had a scoop of peach sorbet with sparkling wine (€5.80). Of course, we could have chosen more extensive delicacies from the extensive dessert menu, but too much is simply too much. The service was friendly and extremely unobtrusive. The only minor disappointment: the wine service for the main course wasn't as prompt as we would have hoped that evening, so my wife unfortunately didn't receive her wine until after the main course had been served. This lapse was somewhat surprising, given the otherwise perfect setting. Nevertheless, we had an unforgettable experience. The value for money is excellent, because good food with fresh ingredients – like here – simply comes at a price. We will definitely repeat this "taste journey" to Southern Italy. In the summer, of course, because the terrace – we've heard – is supposed to be particularly beautiful. With a magnificent view of Saarburg. Since the space is limited, reservations are essential.

A very nice restaurant with a fantastic view. The food was also delicious. Be aware, though, that the prices are a bit higher here, but you're rewarded with excellent cooking, and you're happy to pay a little more for that.

One of our favorite restaurant in Saarburg and surroundings

The castle restaurant in Saarburg is always a highlight for us. The stunning location and stylish ambiance alone make the visit special. A huge compliment to the owner, whose warm personality creates a family-friendly atmosphere. The chef impresses with creative, perfectly balanced dishes that are simply a joy to eat. Add to that the attentive, professional, and incredibly friendly service staff. You simply feel completely at home here. For us, this is one of the most beautiful addresses in the region – we're already looking forward to our next visit!

The quality of the food has declined significantly and no longer matches the price. Several of us went there, and no one really enjoyed it. In addition, the owner considers herself more important than her guests and is sometimes quite harsh in her tone, which is intolerable. We regret this development because it used to be much better.

We walked all the way up in the heat to eat, but it turned out we needed a reservation for this restaurant. The restaurant was completely empty; it's a shame they didn't reserve a spot for tourists who just walked up. A tip: make a reservation at the bottom of the hill; it saves many people a climb up the difficult path. Plus: beautiful view from the top of the castle.

A very nice restaurant, pleasant ambiance, and attentive staff. Vegan options are also available, and the food is very tasty. We'll be happy to come back.

We felt at home, as if we were visiting friends. Everyone was attentive, friendly, courteous, and helpful. The food was attractively presented and extremely delicious.

The service wasn't very friendly. You can't pay by card for less than €10. But that's not mentioned if you're just having a drink with two people. In fact, it's not mentioned anywhere.

They offer Spaghetti Vongole, so that's a great plus already. Furthermore, the location is lovely, you can catch a couple of views here over the river and part of the city. Service is friendly and the food is pretty good. While not very cheap, it is a nice stop when you're climbing the hill and tower on a hot summer day.

We made a reservation for six people, but due to a misinterpretation, there was only one reservation for two. When we called to verify, we received terrible customer service and very poor customer service. To err is human, but above all, "the customer is always right," and there's no reason to be rude even if the place is packed. You can communicate the same thing in a friendly manner. It's definitely a place we won't go to, even if we would have, given the rude treatment of our friends.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed on my last visit to this restaurant. I ordered the "Pappardelle" dish, which, according to the menu, was supposed to contain shrimp, baby squid, and calamari. Unfortunately, the dish consisted mostly of a large amount of tomato sauce, with only three shrimp, barely visible pieces of baby squid, and very few calamari. A few years ago, the quality was significantly better, the taste more convincing, and the service more pleasant. For this reason, I can no longer recommend the restaurant. In my opinion, the value for money is no longer good.

Fine Italian cuisine. Good quality and presentation of the dishes. Extensive wine list. Friendly/casual atmosphere.

We reserved our table in advance, which was a good thing because we got a spot in the shade. The service was more than excellent; we received expert advice, and the food was tailored to our allergens. The staff was incredibly polite and friendly. The value for money was also excellent. I would happily recommend this restaurant to friends, family, and anyone reading this. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Saarburg.

We were there for the first time this evening and had a lovely spot on the terrace. Both the starters, main courses, and desserts were very good. The presentation of the dishes was worthy of a Michelin-starred restaurant! The interior of the restaurant is also very cozy. We'd love to come back!

I had the pleasure of dining at the Burgrestaurant in Saarburg on my birthday – and it was absolutely fantastic! The service was outstanding: very friendly, attentive, and especially considerate when it came to our allergies and intolerances. The staff took their time to ensure we felt completely comfortable and well cared for. The food was exquisite – full of flavor and beautifully presented. On top of that, the breathtaking view over Saarburg made the experience truly unforgettable. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and would love to come back. Highly recommended!

Fine Italian cuisine with good contrasts at moderate prices. A small menu, an extensive wine list. I'm just remembering rhabdomini for dessert. I can also recommend the miso-glazed fennel as a vegetarian main course. And make a reservation; we could only get a table once at short notice. What a shame.

If you visit the castle ruins, you should definitely stop there. The staff is very polite and helpful. The menu is filled with delicious Italian dishes. When we were there, they offered a special dish in addition to the items on the menu, which I also ordered. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The value for money is very good. I definitely recommend it.

Wat een geweldig restaurant. We waren een uur te vroeg, omdat Saarburg kleiner was dan we dachten. We konden gewoon aan tafel en hebben fantastisch gegeten en gedronken. Super locatie en uiterst vriendelijk personeel. Echt een top restaurant. Alle verschillende antipasti waren heerlijk en de hoofdgerechten waren super lekker. Als we weer in de buurt zijn gaan we zeker terug. Een heel groot dankjewel voor deze gezellige avond.

Very non-transparent and very weak opening hours

Glad that the short-term booking in the morning for the evening worked out. We wanted a table in the restaurant and not on the terrace. We were greeted with the information that today we would only be served on the terrace. We did it with gritted teeth. The boss decided in the afternoon that only the terrace would be served in the evening. In my opinion, it would have been possible indoors if you wanted to. Food was okay Tiramisu, however, is rather very fluffy, almost as if it were whipped cream. The toilets were very run down and didn't match the desired ambience at all. Doors from the 60s, no light in the first toilet cubicle of the women's toilet, in the second one left by the predecessor. Empty paper dispenser at the sink, paper on the floor. There is also a clear renovation backlog in the men's toilet. Too bad. Customer requests are not always wanted here. And the appearance remains, more appearance than reality.

The quality of the food is excellent, the presentation too. The view from the restaurant dominates the town. The price is right for the service received and the quality of the ingredients. I recommend a stop at both the castle ruins and the restaurant.

We really enjoyed the food, the delicious wine and the beautiful location of this restaurant. After the first evening, I immediately ate barley for the next day. You can park your car just below the restaurant, then go up a short distance.

I came here with friends, we wanted something nice to eat and she said unfortunately it wasn't possible because it was fully booked. They only offered us something to drink. Top location! Take a taxi up, otherwise it is a steep climb and you don't want to arrive sweaty. Because the weather was nice, we were able to have an aperitif on the terrace with the beautiful view! What a beautiful location! The food was delicious, everything fresh and unique! Super friendly service and good wines too! If you are in Saarburg, this is highly recommended for real Italian food!

This castle restaurant impresses with its absolutely exposed location - high above the city of Saarburg with a great view. The food tasted wonderful and the wine, non-alcoholic cocktail and grappa we tried were also very good. The service was extremely friendly, prompt and guest-oriented. You can drive up to the parking lot and then use the elevator to the restaurant. This beautiful location is also suitable for people who have limited mobility. Cashless payment is possible. We would love to come back and can highly recommend this castle restaurant.

The two of us went to the “Burgrestaurant di Vincenzo Di Tuoro” and were absolutely thrilled. The service was top, as was the ambience. The foccacia that was served with the meal alone was outstanding. The antipasti were very good and varied, the arancini and the chickpea farinata were my favorites. The main course was very good (and you shouldn't be fooled by the first glance at the quantity of the homemade, filled tortelli, the plate is filled enough to fill you up). We ordered all three in-house sorbets and two ice cream flavors for dessert. These included white chocolate, lemon, strawberry and the best pistachio ice cream I've ever eaten (and the entire dessert for €5). We were more than satisfied all around, we would like to come back.

Very good restaurant in perhaps the most beautiful location in Saarburg. Friendly staff and nicely decorated. The prices are quite high, but they are far above average. Beautifully prepared plates and very tasty. Also great for a cup of coffee. If you are looking for a good restaurant then this is the place for you. Recommended.

My husband and I went to the di Vincenzo Di Tuoro castle restaurant with my mother for the first time today and were absolutely thrilled! Very nice atmosphere, great food and super nice service! Personally, I was struck by the fact that when my husband and I received our starters, my mother was asked if she would like a plate so she could snack on our starters. 😌 (This is really not common.... 🙏🏼) We'll definitely be back!

My wife and I ended our short trip to Saarburg with a visit to the restaurant. The location at the castle is first class, with great views. The food was delicious, with homemade tortellini. The ambience was tasteful and the service attentive.

Very nice location and very tasty home-made food. Friendly service, view over Saarburg. Book in advance, you can just walk in, but there is no guarantee that there will be room. If you are in the area, an absolute must.

Excellent service. We were welcomed very nicely (with a small child) even if we had to wait a few minutes for a table. The food was attractively prepared, very tasty and fresh and the portion was perfect. The atmosphere on the terrace was very nice with a great view of the Moselle.

What can I say… simply delicious and the caramelized pineapple heavenly! Staff were impeccable and welcoming. Bread, icecream etc homemade. The view from the terrace over the valley was beautiful. The only suggestion is to slightly increase the pasta portion but considering how tasty everything is it is more than forgiven.

I had the pleasure of having dinner and lunch at this restaurant and it was an amazing experience. The service is impeccable, the staff are courteous and the food is divine. I wanted to enjoy the view and I didn't want to hike back down hungry. The restaurant is really great, the staff is really great. Unfortunately, I'm not used to such great service in Germany and I'm very happy that there are still restaurants like this.

We eat in the castle restaurant for the first time. My daughter, her baby and me. We felt very comfortable from the first moment and were warmly welcomed. We were given a nice, large table on the terrace where we could easily park the stroller. The lady who looked after our physical well-being responded to our wishes and gave us very good advice! Thanks for that! The food tasted very tasty, there was no need for seasoning, and we had fresh ingredients on the plate. We went home more than satisfied and are already looking forward to the next Msl. Maybe tomorrow if we get a table. ☺️

Upon entering we were addressed in a very unfriendly manner. Was an unpleasant atmosphere. That's why we didn't wait until a table was available. Shame.

Die Qualität der Speisen ist definitiv 5 Sterne wert. Auch der Service und das Ambiente ist perfekt. So stellt man sich ein Spitzen Restaurant vor!!!

Zum tollen Sommerwetter auf der Terrasse konnten Tatjana Meyer und Vincenzo Di Tuoro sicher nichts, aber es passte wunderbar zu ihrem exzellenten Essen zu Viert auf der Burgterrasse. Wir waren - wie in jedem Jahr einmal wegen des Besuches des Weinhofs Herrenberg (auch sehr empfehlenswerte Weine) - im Burgrestaurant, aber so einmalig wie in diesem Jahr passte alles perfekt zusammen. Schon die Begrüßung durch Frau Meyer war herzlich. Traditionsgemäß wählten wir die Vorspeisenplatte (für 2 Personen) und ein Vitello tonnata, was für vier Personen einen ausreichenden Einstieg in eine gute italienische Küche bietet - sehr empfehlenswert. Die drei verschiedenen Hauptspeisen waren in diesem Jahr außergewöhnlich gut: Die beiden Männer wählten die „Grigliata di Calamari Gamberi e Polipo“ (Gegrillter Tintenfisch, Garnelen und Oktopus mit Kartoffelpürée, grünen Bohnen und Gremolata), meine Schwester die Tagliata di Manzo (Gegrillte Rindstagliata mit konfierten Kartoffeln an Kirschtomaten und Taggiasca Oliven, Rucola und Parmesancrème), meine Frau hausgemachte Nudeln mit besonderer Käsesauce, Pfeffer und Trüffel (nicht auf der Karte – „es wärmte Leib und Seele“, so meine Frau). Geschmack kann man leider nicht in für alle gleichermaßen gültige Worte fassen, aber alle Vier waren von ihren Speisen begeistert. Und: Bei allen ging sogar noch ein Dessert: neben dem empfehlenswerten selbstgemachten Eis, ein Affogato und ein "Ananas al Caramello" (Karamellisierte Ananas mit Chili, Joghurtschaum und Kokossorbet). Alle, die Zeit und Muse und die Gelegenheit haben, sollten sich einen solchen Abend im Burgrestaurant mal gönnen.

Het restaurant is in de burcht op een heuvel in Saarburg. Bereikbaar met de auto en het laatste stuk heuvelop met een trap of een lift. Je hebt vanaf de burcht een prachtig uitzicht over de omgeving. Het eten is erg lekker en de vriendelijke bediening kan goed advies geven over bijpassende wijnen.

Alles stimmig: Ambiente, Personal -und ganz besonders das Essen war ein Highlight und wirklich sehr zu empfehlen. Ein außerordentlich leckererer Gaumenschmaus. Das gehobene Preisniveau ist absolut gerechtfertigt. Sehr gerne wieder!

Food itself is very tasty. But very expensive for the small portions. Upscale restaurant. Gourmet, yes. You definitely have to reserve a month in advance if you want to sit on the terrace in summer. Very rarely anything free on the weekend. Service staff are friendly and happy to chat if desired.

I love Saarburg and I love the Berg Restaurant. Not only is this a special place and location, but Tatjana & Vincenzo make this place truly special and first class. The level of service and attention to detail is truly amazing and inspiring. I also feel like they are real professionals and provide a quality service especially for people who want to get married there. They will go to great lengths to ensure your wedding is absolutely perfect.

If you want to go out for a really tasty meal, you definitely shouldn't miss this restaurant. Great ambience, very friendly service and excellent, seasonally changing cuisine that has given us many wonderful evenings!😋

Die guten Bewertungen hier in diesem Forum kann ich nur im Bezug auf Ambiente und Service verstehen . Wir hatten das Restaurant nach Bewertungen im Trip Advisor ausgesucht. Wir wurden eines Besseren belehrt.🤨 Preis Leistung war für mich leider unbefriedigend. Ich hatte Spaghetti Vongole bestellt. Die hatten leider,außer nach Salz und Fett ,keinen Geschmack. Die Portionen an unserem Tisch waren mengenmäßig sehr übersichtlich bis wenig….. im Gegensatz zum Preis. Der Wein , das Ambiente und der Service waren gut. Schade!!!!

Tolles Ambiente - gerade auch auf der Terrasse mit Blick auf Saarburg und Beurig. Das Essen ist klasse - gute italienische Küche mit Auswahl regionaler und italienischer Weine. Und der Service sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Verstehe ehrlich gesagt nicht die - wenigen - negativen Kommentare hier . Und bin froh , dass wir hier in Saarburg ein derartiges gastronomisches Angebot haben.

Das Essen war nicht ansatzweise gut oder sehr gut…. es war fantastisch!!! Was einem hier geboten wird an Geschmackserlebnis ist großartig. Preis-Leistung verdient weitere 10 Sterne. Reservieren sollte man nur unbedingt vorher. Ps: Die wenigen negativen Bewertungen konnten wir überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen bzw. für einige Mitmenschen scheint eine Reservierung zu viel verlangt zu sein.
