Bullerjahn in Göttingen

Today I had breakfast with 5 people. We were 5 people and the staff was perfect. The coffee came, but breakfast came after an hour and then not even completely. The bacon was missing from one egg, we were told we didn't know where it was missing, so we put it on another dish. The rolls were frozen and hard. Here we got the statement, I don't work in the kitchen. With a breakfast for 5 people for €115.00 you can expect quality and service. We weren't the only guests who had these problems. It was the 2nd Advent, apart from a candle on the table, no decorations, you didn't notice it.

We drank coffee there today. The apple strudel was very cold inside, as if an attempt had been made to defrost it from frozen. The chairs, on the bench and under the table were all full of crumbs. Unfortunately, the service wasn't very attentive and the sanitary facilities weren't really clean either. It's a shame, because I would have expected better given that reputation

I had the pleasure of eating at Bullerjahn and I have to say the experience was greatly enriched by our waiter Hendrik! From the moment we sat down, Hendrik was extremely friendly and accommodating. We were immediately impressed by his professional manner and extensive knowledge of the menu. He was always attentive without being intrusive. He took the time to ensure we were happy with our orders and gave us personal recommendations which turned out to be excellent. What was particularly remarkable was how patiently he answered our questions and fulfilled all our wishes with a smile. The atmosphere in the restaurant and Hendrik's charming manner created a truly relaxed and pleasant experience. I can only warmly recommend Hendrik and the Bullerjahn restaurant. Thank you for the great service – I look forward to my next visit!

We had a great celebration on site. Very friendly and helpful staff as well as good food and drinks.

Such a beautiful place in the busy Christmas season... There were two of us and all tables were reserved and occupied without exception. Nevertheless, the staff managed to organize a wonderful, quiet place for us in the modern yet cozy, Christmas-decorated, great atmosphere. We ate and drank very deliciously and can only say thank you for the lovely evening and the great service.

First of all, you are happy about a nice atmosphere in a beautiful vaulted cellar directly under the old town hall of Göttingen. Unfortunately, this atmosphere is quickly destroyed by the (bad) club-like music, which is too penetrating due to its volume. The restaurant is not the best choice for vegetarians, given the approximately 6 vegetarian dishes (including salads). So we ordered the burger without a patty, which resulted in it becoming more of a cold sandwich. Unfortunately, the pumpkin lasagne was also more cold than warm and the sage sauce was probably more of a matter of taste. Well, I can't say anything about the meat dishes (of which there are a lot).

Es sollte ein genüßliches und gemütliches Frühstück zu zweit werden. Leider wurden wir wieder enttäuscht: Für 35,00 € für ein Frühstück zu zweit erwarte ich nicht die billigsten Weizenbrötchen, zwei Scheiben Vollkornbrot mindestens vom Vortag, drei kleine Stücken Butter sowie je 3 Scheiben Aufschnitt (Salami, Schinken, Putenfilet), Käse zwei zarte Scheiben wurden halbiert. Kaffeegetränk mußte extra bezahlt werden. Hier gab Unstimmigkeiten zwischen Speisekarte (3,50 €) und Rechnung (3,90 €). Wobei es als solches schon ein stattlicher Preis für nur einen kleinen Pott ist. Für eine Endsumme von 50,00 € können wir in Anderen Cafés und Restaurants in Göttingen besser Frühstücken.

The food was good. Unfortunately there was no more light, which I find very strange. The service was very inattentive and slow. That disappointed me. I guess I won't be coming here anymore.

Food top, prices acceptable and reasonable. However, it is a bit uncomfortable to be led to the gallery most of the time (even if there are only two of you). The seating there really leaves something to be desired and needs a major overhaul. This prevents us from coming by more regularly or from recommending it despite this great cuisine.

Waren heute (Sonntag) mit 5 Erwachsenen und 4 Kindern zum Mittagessen (mit Tischreservierung um 13h). Die Tische waren zu ca. 2/3 besetzt. Es ist bekannt, dass seit Eröffnung des Restaurants Schwierigkeiten mit dem Service bestehen. Dies gipfelte heute darin, dass eine (!!) Bedienung für das gesamte Restaurant vorhanden war (eine weitere Bedienung kam nach 14h dazu). Der Mann war für den Empfang der Gäste, die Bestellungen, das Servieren und der Abrechnung zuständig und hat wirklich sein Bestes gegeben, aber bei so einem Stress sind Fehler vorprogrammiert: bei uns fehlten zwei Getränke und, was am Ärgerlichsten war, weil wir gerade deshalb gekommen waren, ein Essen (Gänsebrust). Da durch die lange Wartezeit (das Essen kam eine Stunde nach Bestellung) die Kinder unruhig wurden, wurde auf Vorschlag der Bedienung (jetzt sollte ein schnelles Gericht kommen), ein Cesarsalat bestellt (dieser wurde allerdings auch erst nach 20 Minuten serviert, da waren wir anderen bereits mit dem Essen fertig). Nun zu den Speisen: a.) Der Teller mit Gänsebrust (teilweise angebrannt) mit 2 Kartoffelklößen (sehr lecker), ca. 3 EL Rotkohl, 1 EL Maronen und einen Klecks Soße war sehr übersichtlich. Die Soße haben wir nachbestellt. Leider wurde das kleine Tiegelchen mit der Soße so spät gebracht, da waren die Gerichte mit der Gänsebrust fast aufgegessen. b.) Ratsherrenpfanne: 3 Filetstücke vom Rind, Schwein und Huhn, Speckbohnen, Pfeffersoße, Bratkartoffeln. Leider war die Speise nur lauwarm, obwohl die Griffe der Pfanne heiß waren. Die Bratkartoffeln waren geschichtet. Es fehlte die für Bratkartoffeln bekannte Röstung. Der Geschmack war insgesamt gut. c.) Pizza sowie Chickennuggets mit Pommes. Hierzu kann ich nichts schreiben, die Kinder haben es jedenfalls gegessen. Fazit: Anzahl des Servicepersonals katastrophal; das Essen im Durchschnitt so lala. Hier stimmte das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis bei dem Gänsebrustgericht nicht.

Everything was great / the food is really a recommendation if you like to eat seasonal and fresh. Service is super polite and not intrusive. We also really liked the atmosphere, especially at Christmas time.

I had a pleasant visit to the Bullerjahn restaurant in Göttingen and rate it 4 out of 5 stars. The food was really tasty and met my expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of dishes and the quality of the ingredients. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, which contributed to the pleasant atmosphere. A small downer, however, was the waiting time for the food, which was a little longer than expected. Overall, I can recommend Bullerjahn, especially for the good cuisine and friendly service. I'd love to come back!

Delicious food in a very pleasant atmosphere and with extremely friendly service

We spontaneously visited this restaurant, it was on Saturday lunchtime, at 2 p.m. It wasn't busy, the service was quick. The dishes were very tasty, beef in sauerbraten was very tender and tasty, also as a starter a tomato soup with mango had a very interesting taste and it was delicious. As well as brawn was delicious.

The food is really very good. For this reason I ate there again last week. Since I didn't want half of the food to be left over, I asked for a children's portion (preferably at full price). The waiter was immediately understanding and made this possible. Today, September 2nd, I wanted to eat there again and was rudely told (the lady with the short hair) that children's portions were only for children and that this is also on the menu. And the colleague had made a mistake. We then ordered the drinks and looked for another restaurant. We understand that, but as we all know, the sound makes the music. Two regular guests less. And this is just criticizing today's service!

We went to an event where a “buffet” type menu was proposed. The food was adequate, and tasty, although I might have expected some variety and more local dishes (perhaps small snitzel, knuckle or something similar). The desserts, however, were adequate (a panna cotta and a very rich chocolate mousse). Maybe I'll come back to try it normally instead of as an event.

We came on a recommendation and were disappointed. The wine was high quality, but the schnitzel "Bulgarian style" was a disaster. The meat was tough and tasted like old oil, the fries were limp and the Letscho was canned, just warmed up. €20 for that is outrageous. You can get this for half the price, better at the snack bar. Unfortunately no recommendation at all.

The service was friendly and the drinks and food were served quickly. Since we sat together in a larger group, we didn't notice the wait for the food, but it wasn't long. The food was simply made, partly bland and bad. The baked potato we ordered was undercooked and not hot. The salad that came with it was wilted. The crème brulée dessert came straight from the fridge. At the end, a mouse ran past our table, which the waitress said came from the basement. And you probably have to do something about that. Conclusion, we'll be looking for other places soon.

Hatten den "vegetarischen Rudolph", ein Brötchen (günstige Weizenaufbackware), eine Scheibe Vollkornbrot (alt und hart), Butter, zwei Scheiben Käse (günstig, unaromatisch), Frischkäse und Hummus (sehr wässrig). Als Frischware eine in Streifen geschnittene Gurkenscheibe. Wir wissen jetzt wieder warum wir so lange nicht im Bullerjahn waren.... Nicht empfehlenswert.

Bad food which is also way too expensive and even worse service, the lady “restaurant manager” is rude and arrogant. The only thing that's okay here is the ambience.

We ended our civil wedding here. The finger food we ordered was very appealing and very tasty 😋 Our guests and we were very satisfied. The service was friendly 😃 The communication and planning was very friendly. We say thank you 😊

Had lunch there yesterday...lifeless lunch table, fish, some sauce and potatoes without parsley etc. Nothing nice and the taste wasn't great either...I don't actually know anything about the house!

Very nice atmosphere, but... At short notice we (2 adults, 1 child) looked for a table in Göttingen and went to Bullerjahn as usual. We also got a table here on Saturday evening, which is not a given. Everything was good until we got the food and then we were very disappointed. 1x potato pancakes 1x Bernese Schnitzel 1x Schnitzel Jäger Art 5 drinks The buffers were very dry and oily, the schnitzels were fresh but carelessly prepared. A small side salad would certainly have made a better impression. Our son then ate some of our schnitzel. When asked about the dry buffers, the staff responded with "oh, we're sorry"... that's it... A small apology in the form of an ice cream scoop for the child or or or would certainly not have been a big deal and we would not have been so disappointed. We're happy to eat out for 70 euros, but it shouldn't be such a turn-off. Too bad

Ambience and service staff super friendly. Price performance for the food is not justified. Had Ratskeller pan. Meat handed over and dry. Deserts are also small and just average. I wouldn't recommend it.

Leider eines der schlechtesten Restaurants, in denen ich bisher war in Göttingen. Anlass war ein Geschäftsessen mit Buffet. Das Ambiente ist zwar sehr schön, aber das Essen war eine Frechheit. Das Fleisch war ok, das Gemüse TK und mit viel zu viel Pfeffer Gewürzt. Der Salat hatte schon braune Stellen. Die panna Cotta hatte nach nichts geschmeckt. Werde definitiv nicht wiederkommen. Kurz vor Ladenschluss wurden wir praktisch rausgeworfen und konnten nicht mal die Getränke austrinken. Wir haben sehr viel Geld da gelassen und das was wir dafür bekommen haben war eine Frechheit.

The quality of the food leaves a lot to be desired, as does the service. I was there twice, the first and the last time. It's a very nice atmosphere, unfortunately that's it, it's a shame.

You felt very unwelcome, the food was somewhat edible, but this was ruined by the unfriendly atmosphere of the waiters. The employees gave you disgusting looks throughout, which is why the tips were sparing.

We recently had breakfast at Bullerjahn. First of all, we saw that prices have increased significantly and the breakfast menus have been thinned out. Then we waited 30 minutes for breakfast. The service wasn't super nice or engaging. In general we weren't super happy. Our expectations weren't quite met.

Looks nice but nothing more. Unfriendly staff that is way too stressed. Food tastes moderately good. Unfortunately the schnitzels had run out. The rice pudding for our little one, which was supposed to be without cinnamon, was brought with cinnamon. And when we wanted to take it with us, the rice pudding was poured into aluminum foil. Pretty unprofessional...

A nice restaurant. I'm really impressed with the schnitzel and the tarte flambée. Quality of the schnitzel is very good. I particularly like the sauce on the side. This is the second time I've come here and it's always a pleasure. The restaurant inside also has something special. I'm really looking forward to the next time.

Atmospheric square. Give location. Smooth food without the soul and, of course, plenty of freezer bags of fries. I think most of the food came out of a freezer bag. Absolutely extremely slow operation. You are at a start a long time to be served. They take a long time to serve the food and they don't get all the orders. The mayonnaise and ketchup never came out. Even after 4 reorders. And the bill…. It also takes between 10 and 15 minutes. And then, by the way, the serving is staggered and you can't count on the drinks being served with the food. But otherwise friendly service.

Normally a great restaurant, with great food and friendly service. However, the service noticeably decreased, so that it took 15 minutes without any service coming. It's a shame, but it was a nice summer evening in a different restaurant.

Looks nice in the Old Town setting. I had a hamburger which was OK but my husband ordered schnitzel - looked ok but was thin & had no taste. The staff member who served us was unwelcoming & impatient. He said all the right things but was insincere to say the least. When my husband asked to use the toilet, the waiter directed him to a public toilet around the corner which had been closed for 2 years! Nasty…. If you don’t like tourists you shouldn’t be in the service industry!

Unfriendly, unwelcoming service from one staff member ruined what should have been a treat for this New Zealand tourist couple. I enjoyed my hamburger but the pork schnitzel served to my husband was inferior to say the least. We saw the same meal served to others & they were not the same. The schnitzel was as thin as cardboard & tasted like it! Then my husband asked to use the toilet & was directed to a public toilet around the corner, that had been closed for 2 years! Nasty stuff. Staff member should be ashamed.

From breakfast to dinner - we always enjoy coming here. Homemade bread, rolls and cakes, large drinks menu, varied yet seasonal menu for meat, fish and veggie fans, staff very friendly, special requests are of course taken into account, painting supplies, a changing table and baby chair are available for children. Prices absolutely reasonable!

Networking dinner with around 70 guests. Delicious food, friendly and competent service, I'll definitely be back.

Average. Good meeting point for groups as it is centrally located. Service rather overwhelmed. When ordering there was a comment that “it may take a while”. But there wasn't much attendance at the time. Have no idea what it's like when it's really full.

Nice outdoor seating in the center of the historic market. The four of us all had the “Barutokai Wagyu Beef Burger” on the recommendation of the waiter. The burger was definitely tasty and so were the fries (unfortunately very few). However, the entire group found the food a bit “in the stomach” and was somehow not particularly well tolerated. Price-performance ratio needs improvement.

Had sauerbraten: meat was good, sauce worked, potatoes weren't to my taste. Regarding the red cabbage: the approach is good, now add some seasoning and follow the approach further, then it can be something.

Aperol only tasted like water. For €8.50 I expect more. My potatoes didn't taste fresh, but like they had just been warmed up. We weren't greeted either. So the price-performance ratio is not right.

For a private party we rented the Scharwache and ordered a buffet. The preparation of the celebration went smoothly and very nicely. The service staff in the evening was very courteous and attentive. That food tasted good. Gladly again.

My fiancée and I went there spontaneously because we were only in Göttingen to see an orchestra. We ordered the schnitzels without any great expectations, but I didn't expect that the schnitzels would be so fantastic. Absolutely delicious and a big plus from me for the fact that the sauce was extra. We recommend.

We came here guided by the reviews. The service was friendly and not intrusive, the atmosphere was very nice. Unfortunately, in our opinion, the price-performance ratio is not right. Some of the food was only lukewarm, the asparagus and salsify were almost raw, the fish was overcooked and the potatoes were full of eyes and more than waxy. In retrospect, we would have preferred to leave our money somewhere else. Once and probably never again. A pity.

The menu is short, which is usually a good sign. However, the dishes are simple and unrefined. Schnitzel, burgers, noodles. However, on a Saturday with the restaurant half full and a large table on the terrace, the kitchen was so overwhelmed that we had to wait almost 100 minutes for our food. This is not okay, but it can happen. But there was no accommodation whatsoever, no little something for the most hungry, no free drinks, no information about how long it would take. This is not acceptable. The food was OK, the service was very friendly. We're still not coming back.

Stopped here for a spontaneous meal while passing through Hamburg. The decor is super modern & cozy, the service was great and the schnitzel was also perfect. For me personally, the burger was a bit too firm from the meat and the salad dressing wasn't my thing, but overall it was still very tasty. Portion and price were very fair!

Despite asking three times, the water we ordered didn't make it to us; my beer was the wrong size and was lukewarm. The time it took to place the order was also quite long. As I said, the staff was very friendly and we will definitely come back. But the things mentioned didn't go so well.
