Bullerjahn in Göttingen

The food is really very good. For this reason I ate there again last week. Since I didn't want half of the food to be left over, I asked for a children's portion (preferably at full price). The waiter was immediately understanding and made this possible. Today, September 2nd, I wanted to eat there again and was rudely told (the lady with the short hair) that children's portions were only for children and that this is also on the menu. And the colleague had made a mistake. We then ordered the drinks and looked for another restaurant. We understand that, but as we all know, the sound makes the music. Two regular guests less. And this is just criticizing today's service!

We went to an event where a “buffet” type menu was proposed. The food was adequate, and tasty, although I might have expected some variety and more local dishes (perhaps small snitzel, knuckle or something similar). The desserts, however, were adequate (a panna cotta and a very rich chocolate mousse). Maybe I'll come back to try it normally instead of as an event.

We came on a recommendation and were disappointed. The wine was high quality, but the schnitzel "Bulgarian style" was a disaster. The meat was tough and tasted like old oil, the fries were limp and the Letscho was canned, just warmed up. €20 for that is outrageous. You can get this for half the price, better at the snack bar. Unfortunately no recommendation at all.

The service was friendly and the drinks and food were served quickly. Since we sat together in a larger group, we didn't notice the wait for the food, but it wasn't long. The food was simply made, partly bland and bad. The baked potato we ordered was undercooked and not hot. The salad that came with it was wilted. The crème brulée dessert came straight from the fridge. At the end, a mouse ran past our table, which the waitress said came from the basement. And you probably have to do something about that. Conclusion, we'll be looking for other places soon.

Bad food which is also way too expensive and even worse service, the lady “restaurant manager” is rude and arrogant. The only thing that's okay here is the ambience.

We ended our civil wedding here. The finger food we ordered was very appealing and very tasty 😋 Our guests and we were very satisfied. The service was friendly 😃 The communication and planning was very friendly. We say thank you 😊

Had lunch there yesterday...lifeless lunch table, fish, some sauce and potatoes without parsley etc. Nothing nice and the taste wasn't great either...I don't actually know anything about the house!

Very nice atmosphere, but... At short notice we (2 adults, 1 child) looked for a table in Göttingen and went to Bullerjahn as usual. We also got a table here on Saturday evening, which is not a given. Everything was good until we got the food and then we were very disappointed. 1x potato pancakes 1x Bernese Schnitzel 1x Schnitzel Jäger Art 5 drinks The buffers were very dry and oily, the schnitzels were fresh but carelessly prepared. A small side salad would certainly have made a better impression. Our son then ate some of our schnitzel. When asked about the dry buffers, the staff responded with "oh, we're sorry"... that's it... A small apology in the form of an ice cream scoop for the child or or or would certainly not have been a big deal and we would not have been so disappointed. We're happy to eat out for 70 euros, but it shouldn't be such a turn-off. Too bad

Ambience and service staff super friendly. Price performance for the food is not justified. Had Ratskeller pan. Meat handed over and dry. Deserts are also small and just average. I wouldn't recommend it.

Leider eines der schlechtesten Restaurants, in denen ich bisher war in Göttingen. Anlass war ein Geschäftsessen mit Buffet. Das Ambiente ist zwar sehr schön, aber das Essen war eine Frechheit. Das Fleisch war ok, das Gemüse TK und mit viel zu viel Pfeffer Gewürzt. Der Salat hatte schon braune Stellen. Die panna Cotta hatte nach nichts geschmeckt. Werde definitiv nicht wiederkommen. Kurz vor Ladenschluss wurden wir praktisch rausgeworfen und konnten nicht mal die Getränke austrinken. Wir haben sehr viel Geld da gelassen und das was wir dafür bekommen haben war eine Frechheit.

The quality of the food leaves a lot to be desired, as does the service. I was there twice, the first and the last time. It's a very nice atmosphere, unfortunately that's it, it's a shame.

We recently had breakfast at Bullerjahn. First of all, we saw that prices have increased significantly and the breakfast menus have been thinned out. Then we waited 30 minutes for breakfast. The service wasn't super nice or engaging. In general we weren't super happy. Our expectations weren't quite met.

You felt very unwelcome, the food was somewhat edible, but this was ruined by the unfriendly atmosphere of the waiters. The employees gave you disgusting looks throughout, which is why the tips were sparing.

We have arrived. We sat down and waited for 10 minutes and the staff walked around cleaning the tables and no one asked anything. We wanted to eat, but thank you. I was here for the first and last time.

Looks nice but nothing more. Unfriendly staff that is way too stressed. Food tastes moderately good. Unfortunately the schnitzels had run out. The rice pudding for our little one, which was supposed to be without cinnamon, was brought with cinnamon. And when we wanted to take it with us, the rice pudding was poured into aluminum foil. Pretty unprofessional...

Food good, service subpar. First it was overlooked, then everything took a very long time, dirty cutlery for eating, not a nice visit.

A nice restaurant. I'm really impressed with the schnitzel and the tarte flambée. Quality of the schnitzel is very good. I particularly like the sauce on the side. This is the second time I've come here and it's always a pleasure. The restaurant inside also has something special. I'm really looking forward to the next time.

Atmospheric square. Give location. Smooth food without the soul and, of course, plenty of freezer bags of fries. I think most of the food came out of a freezer bag. Absolutely extremely slow operation. You are at a start a long time to be served. They take a long time to serve the food and they don't get all the orders. The mayonnaise and ketchup never came out. Even after 4 reorders. And the bill…. It also takes between 10 and 15 minutes. And then, by the way, the serving is staggered and you can't count on the drinks being served with the food. But otherwise friendly service.

Normally a great restaurant, with great food and friendly service. However, the service noticeably decreased, so that it took 15 minutes without any service coming. It's a shame, but it was a nice summer evening in a different restaurant.

Unfriendly, unwelcoming service from one staff member ruined what should have been a treat for this New Zealand tourist couple. I enjoyed my hamburger but the pork schnitzel served to my husband was inferior to say the least. We saw the same meal served to others & they were not the same. The schnitzel was as thin as cardboard & tasted like it! Then my husband asked to use the toilet & was directed to a public toilet around the corner, that had been closed for 2 years! Nasty stuff. Staff member should be ashamed.

Looks nice in the Old Town setting. I had a hamburger which was OK but my husband ordered schnitzel - looked ok but was thin & had no taste. The staff member who served us was unwelcoming & impatient. He said all the right things but was insincere to say the least. When my husband asked to use the toilet, the waiter directed him to a public toilet around the corner which had been closed for 2 years! Nasty…. If you don’t like tourists you shouldn’t be in the service industry!

From breakfast to dinner - we always enjoy coming here. Homemade bread, rolls and cakes, large drinks menu, varied yet seasonal menu for meat, fish and veggie fans, staff very friendly, special requests are of course taken into account, painting supplies, a changing table and baby chair are available for children. Prices absolutely reasonable!

Networking dinner with around 70 guests. Delicious food, friendly and competent service, I'll definitely be back.

Average. Good meeting point for groups as it is centrally located. Service rather overwhelmed. When ordering there was a comment that “it may take a while”. But there wasn't much attendance at the time. Have no idea what it's like when it's really full.

Nice outdoor seating in the center of the historic market. The four of us all had the “Barutokai Wagyu Beef Burger” on the recommendation of the waiter. The burger was definitely tasty and so were the fries (unfortunately very few). However, the entire group found the food a bit “in the stomach” and was somehow not particularly well tolerated. Price-performance ratio needs improvement.

Had sauerbraten: meat was good, sauce worked, potatoes weren't to my taste. Regarding the red cabbage: the approach is good, now add some seasoning and follow the approach further, then it can be something.

Aperol only tasted like water. For €8.50 I expect more. My potatoes didn't taste fresh, but like they had just been warmed up. We weren't greeted either. So the price-performance ratio is not right.

For a private party we rented the Scharwache and ordered a buffet. The preparation of the celebration went smoothly and very nicely. The service staff in the evening was very courteous and attentive. That food tasted good. Gladly again.

My fiancée and I went there spontaneously because we were only in Göttingen to see an orchestra. We ordered the schnitzels without any great expectations, but I didn't expect that the schnitzels would be so fantastic. Absolutely delicious and a big plus from me for the fact that the sauce was extra. We recommend.

We came here guided by the reviews. The service was friendly and not intrusive, the atmosphere was very nice. Unfortunately, in our opinion, the price-performance ratio is not right. Some of the food was only lukewarm, the asparagus and salsify were almost raw, the fish was overcooked and the potatoes were full of eyes and more than waxy. In retrospect, we would have preferred to leave our money somewhere else. Once and probably never again. A pity.

The menu is short, which is usually a good sign. However, the dishes are simple and unrefined. Schnitzel, burgers, noodles. However, on a Saturday with the restaurant half full and a large table on the terrace, the kitchen was so overwhelmed that we had to wait almost 100 minutes for our food. This is not okay, but it can happen. But there was no accommodation whatsoever, no little something for the most hungry, no free drinks, no information about how long it would take. This is not acceptable. The food was OK, the service was very friendly. We're still not coming back.

Stopped here for a spontaneous meal while passing through Hamburg. The decor is super modern & cozy, the service was great and the schnitzel was also perfect. For me personally, the burger was a bit too firm from the meat and the salad dressing wasn't my thing, but overall it was still very tasty. Portion and price were very fair!

The food was very good, the atmosphere was great. Unfortunately the service was overwhelmed. The ladies were super nice, but it was apparently too much. Despite asking three times, the water we ordered didn't make it to us; my beer was the wrong size and was lukewarm. The time it took to place the order was also quite long. As I said, the staff was very friendly and we will definitely come back. But the things mentioned didn't go so well.

Lunch with family (parents and 2 children). One waitress seemed quite unmotivated, the other very friendly. Food was only lukewarm and too expensive. That would be ok at the snack bar, but here...? Price/performance ratio is absolutely not right. Overall not recommended.

Not very good! And the false judgment was brought

Disastrous and we are angry that we even paid for something like that. The menu included fried fish with potato salad. I was served these triangles and lettuce from the bin. (see photo) €13.90. Baked potatoes were dry and hard. In the end, the complaint was acknowledged with a shrug of the shoulders by the otherwise friendly waiter. Cheap frozen food... that's not what fried fish looks like in a restaurant. We would have had to return all four meals that were served immediately. It's a shame we were too polite.

We stopped here during our short stay in Göttingen. The lunch dish, chili con carne, was excellent and had just the right amount of spiciness. The schnitzel was also nice and crispy and tasty. The service staff was attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, there is a point deduction for the selection of dishes that is a bit too small in our opinion.

We found the food to be okay, but too expensive for the mediocre quality. We found the service to be extremely poor. At first we were made to wait at the entrance for some time without comment, although we had the impression that the service staff had noticed us. During this time a queue of at least 10 people formed behind us. Drinks in bottles were not poured, the plates were pressed into the hand and the question of whether it was tasty or everything was OK was avoided - perhaps because one was afraid of the answer. A pity.

We were at Bullerjahn after a workshop with a group of over 60 people and had put together a buffet selection in advance. Despite the large number, the organization was very good, punctual and smooth. Good buffet in a traditional and relaxed atmosphere.

Nice place under the town hall. Excellent draft beers. My tip is to take the plank. More than enough food. Recommended.

After passing all kinds of nice student eateries we came here. Nice cozy atmosphere, chic eatery, not stuffed up. Delicious food, tastiest beers on tap (weihenstephaner), good meat and tasty fries and salad. Very simple but excellent. Nice service!

Ambiance was very pleasant and quiet. The waitresses were nice and polite. When it comes to eating, I have to say that the fries (steakhouse fries) were a bit weak and only moderately seasoned. Schitzel Viennese style was OK. but a bit dry. Price is too high for the meal.

Nette Atmosphäre und nette Bedienung, daher die 2 Sterne. Ich habe ein Rumpsteak (medium) bestellt. Die Zwiebeln waren lecker, aber das Steak schmeckte fade. Ich würde diesen Ort nicht weiterempfehlen.

Das Essen und der Sevice waren unter aller Sau. Wer wirklich mal richtig schlecht essen möchte ist hier gut aufgehoben. Selbst der eine Punkt den ich vergeben musste war zuviel.

Nach einem unfreundlichen Empfang in diesem wunderschönen Restaurant verlief der gesamte Abend recht durchwachsen. Die Speisekarte ist sehr übersichtlich. Die Speisen so lala. Der Tisch wurde erst nach Aufforderung abgeräumt und die Freundlichkeit nahm den ganzen Abend nicht zu. Gegen 21.30 Uhr waren wir dann auch der vorletzte Tisch, was mich jetzt garnicht mehr wundert. 2 Punkte für das Restaurant, mehr Punkte habe ich nicht zu vergeben.

Came here for the Christmas buffet, and was really nice. The ambience was informal and family friendly but still, not noisy and chaotic. The food was excellent, we had roasted goose and very delicious gnocchi. It didn't seem expensive for a Christmas buffet but I am unaware of the prices for normal days. The staff was very nice and friendly, and the place itself is very nicely decorated. I would come back without a doubt :)

Spacious with high ceilings, in the former Ratskeller in Göttingen. The card is sufficient and very high quality. Eating is worth it for good taste and excellent quality

The food was OK. Could have been a little more for the price. A waitress brought us to the table in an unfriendly manner. A few kind words wouldn't have hurt to make you feel welcome. The other younger waitress was friendly. The toilets could use a renovation because the paint on the ceiling is peeling off due to moisture and mold on the toilet. Plus the smell of damp and mold. You could hardly breathe. This definitely needs to change. We won't be coming back any time soon. It's a shame but it doesn't fit together.

This time our culinary journey took us to Göttingen. Actually, we had planned something else at first, but stopped by here spontaneously. The vaulted cellar is pleasant and somehow cozy. It wasn't the typical time to go out to eat, but at 4pm we got a table without a reservation. The waitress took our drink requests and they were at the table quickly. First of all, I had the pumpkin soup. It had been good. Main courses were the schnitzel with fries and mushroom sauce, vegetarian tarte flambée, and I had the pork fillet with green beans and croquettes. Food came to the table in a reasonable time. It wasn't bad, but for the price of €25.90 I somehow missed the pizzazz. Meat was a bit too cooked and therefore a bit dry. I also tried the fries. Unfortunately they weren't that crispy. A bit sticky. We've had better ones. But overall it was okay. The drink prices were a bit high. 0.3 non-alcoholic Einbecker €3.90 and Cola 0.3 for €4. In total we spent around €85 for the three dishes and drinks. Payment was also possible with credit card (Mastercard) Definitely worth a visit, but nothing extraordinary.

Operation could be a bit faster. Otherwise it's pretty nice.

Were there for Christmas brunch. Unfortunately, especially with the hot dishes, not everything was as good as the price should have been. There were at least 1-2 people too few when it came to service, and you sometimes had to wait quite a long time for drinks.

Way too expensive for what they delivered tonight. Not fully booked and waited almost an hour for the food with 6 adults, the drinks were brought after the starter and still looked stubborn when the lack of drinks was pointed out. It's a shame, I had hoped for more from the food.

Anlässlich des 95igsten Geburtstags meines Opas sind wir mit der Familie am 27.12.2023 im Bullerjahn eingekehrt. Wir hatten aufgrund der Gruppengröße reserviert, was durchaus nicht verkehrt war. Die Räumlichkeiten sind recht groß, mit hohen Decken, einer großen Theke, dezentes, cleanes Ambiente. Die Wände sind durch Kunstwerke mit diverse berühmten Persönlichkeiten dekoriert. Als Sitzmöglichkeiten gibt es einerseits Polsterbänke, anderseits auch Stühle. Die Tische sind in Holzoptik, ausgestattet mit Pfeffer- und Salzmühle, Zuckerdose, Kerzen. Die Speisekarte ist übersichtlich, aber sicher für jeden etwas dabei, es gibt auch Kinderteller. Die Getränkebestellung kam zügig, allerdings schenkt man sich hier Wasser, als auch Wein aus der Flasche selbst ein. Wir haben uns für das Rumpsteak mit Gratin, Gnocchi mit Pilzen, Seelachs, Gänsekeule, Schnitzel, Ofenkartoffel etc. entschieden. Ich habe leider nicht von allen Fotos oder erfragen können, ob es gemundet hat, sodass ich mich auf mein Essen bzw. das welches ich ebenfalls probiert habe, beziehe. Nach einer knappen Stunde Wartezeit kam unser Essen: Mein Rumpsteak war perfekt medium, das Gratin einen kleinen Tick zu sauer, die Schmorzwiebeln lecker. Der Lachs war auf Möhrenbett mit Reis angerichtet. Leider die Haut nicht kross genug, sodass man sie nicht mitessen konnte. Die Gnocchi waren etwas zu weich, dafür die Pilze, Salat dazu mit der Soße sehr erfrischend. Die Gänsekeule machte auf den ersten Blick einen trockenen Eindruck, was aber nicht bestätigt wurde. Das Rotkohl war zu süß, die Klöße einwandfrei. Was nicht so schön empfunden wurde, dass einige Teller unschön angestoßen waren, die Weingläser leider dreckig - erwartet man bei dem doch gehobeneren Ambiente nicht. Fazit: das Essen ist mit kleinen Einschränkungen lecker, aufgrund der Wartezeit sollte man nicht super hungrig zum Essen gehen. Ansonsten kann ich das Lokal empfehlen, Preis-Leistung in Ordnung.

Nichts besonders, vergleichbar hohe Preise. Karte ist ziemlich groß, was prinzipiell kein gutes Merkmal ist. Service war okay.

Die Weinschorle wird dermaßen gestreckt das man den Wein nur noch erahnen kann. Schade aber wir werden nur noch im Alfredo oder Cafe Gartenlaube etwas trinken.

Nach einer 1,75 Stunden waren die Hauptgerichte immer noch nicht da. Begründung war, das Restaurant ist sehr voll, es waren aber sehr viele Tische frei. Das Essen war dann ganz gut. Bei der Bestellung hieß es, der Tisch ist nur 2 Stunden frei. 🤷‍♀️

Solide kost mit angemessenen Preisen. Überraschungen bleiben somit aus.

Wir hatten einen gelungen Abend mit einer großen Gruppe. Die Location ist wirklich super! Modern eingerichtet aber man spürt die Nostalgie der urigen Kellergemäuer. Wir haben Gans gegessen. Diese war wirklich gut gemacht und sehr saftig. Serviert mit Rotkohl, Klößen, reichlich Soße und mein Highlight Maronen. Der Service war ausgezeichnet und man fühlte sich sehr gut aufgehoben. In Summe ein toller Abend mit guten Essen und außergewöhnlicher Atmosphäre.

Weihnachtsfeier mit 18 Personen und ganzen Gänsen. Super lecker, super netter und schneller Service (und das trotz voller Hütte am 2. Adventssamstag)!

Das Restaurant Bullerjahn in Göttingen ist ein gemütlicher Ort mit traditioneller deutscher Küche. Daneben gibt es auch einen Wagyu Burger und die klassische Currywurst. Das Restaurant liegt im historischen Rathaus am Marktplatz und bietet mittlerweile auch vegetarische und vegane Gerichte an. Die Preise sind dabei moderat bis ambitioniert. Leider musste ich bei meinem Besuch feststellen das die Qualität und der Geschmack der Speisen nur bedingt zufriedenstellend sind. In meinem Fall waren die Pommes zum Burger nur handwarm und leider nicht mehr knusprig. Auch die dargereichte Menge war eher mäßig als üppig. Dieses dürfte ein Ergebnis meines größten Kritikpunkts sein, der Service. Ich hatte zwischen meiner hervorragenden Vorspeise, der Kartoffelsuppe und meinem Hauptgang, dem Wagyu Burger, sagenhafte 90 Minuten Wartezeit zu überbrücken. Diese wurde zusätzlich vom unfreundlichen und wenig Serviceorientierten Servicepersonal getrübt. Da hilft es auch nicht, wenn einem die Hauptspeise dann von der Dame des Hause Antonia höchst persönlich an den Tisch gebracht wird. Zusammengefasst würde ich dort nicht wieder einkehren. Der Servicegedanke und die Kommunikation dieses Restaurants entsprechen nicht dem aufgerufenen Preisgefüge meiner Meinung nach. Schade.

Haben mit 10 Personen zu um 17.30 Uhr einen Tisch bestellt. Wartezeit auf erste Getränke- und anschließende Essenbestellung dauerte 1/2 und 1 Stunde. Zwischen Vor- und Hauptspeise 1h Wartezeit. Dann kamen zumindest schon einmal 7 Essen. Die restlichen 3 Essen ca. 15 min später. Die Bedienung immer freundlich, aber leider keine Entschuldigung und kein Hinweis auf Verspätung. Das Essen war in Ordnung. Auf den Nachtisch haben wir vorsichtshalber verzichtet.

Toller Laden, nette Kellner, tolles Ambiente. Allerdings preislich ist die Gans Wucher im Vergleich dazu was man bekommt. Verglichen mit anderen Restaurants in ähnlicher Klasse ist die Größe einer Portion in keinem Verhältnis zum Preis. Entweder zu teuer oder die Portionen sind zu klein. Sind heute als große Gesellschaft da gewesen, mehrfach Gans und alle Größen gleich. Wer also dort hin geht, Empfehlung: keine Gans, das Preis Leistungsverhältnis passt definitiv nicht!

Kurz gesagt Bedienung unfreundlich und unaufmerksam Essen bei dem Preis minderwertig Ambiente ungemütlich Das Essen ist keine gute Qualität und auch bei den Gewürzen wurde sehr gespart, das Fleisch ist nichts Besonderes und eigentlich war bis auf das Gratin Nichts schmackhaftes dabei. Ich habe mir mehrfach ein Radler bestellt und es kam nie an, obwohl ich sogar vor Ort gesagt habe das ich jetzt im dritten Anlauf gerne mein Bier hätte. Das Ambiente im Laden war laut, feucht und zu warm. Dafür ging im Raucherbereich draußen sehr pünktlich das Licht aus.

The meals are gorgeous and the service is always nice. I love the location too it looks so aesthetic but I give them 3 stars because they have only two vegetarian meals and that’s a bit sad, they also don’t have Vegan meals so yea. The vegetarian meal I had were more oil then food and that’s not nice. The burger my brother had was nice but he said the sauce were like water and he said without tomatoes but they gave him tomatoes and he’s allergic If they would make more Vegetarian options I think it’ll be 4,5 stars.

Ich mag den Gewölbekeller, leider benötigt er auch mal wieder ein Anstrich an einigen Stellen löst der Putz/ Farbe. Vom Service war sehr freundlich und bemühte sich jeden Wünsch zu erfüllen. Essen war lecker aber mir etwas zu viel Rotkohl davon etwas zuwenig von der Brust aber das ist Geschmackssache, denke ich.

Das Essen war gut, aber der Service war überfordert, da zu gering besetzt.

Reservieren sollte man hier besser. Wir waren auf der Durchreise und haben einen etwas zugigen kleinen Tisch bekommen. Wir haben uns eine Rinderkraft Brühe, ein Schnitzel und einen Beilagensalat geteilt. Die Suppe war wirklich gut, alles schön frisch und klein geschnitten. Das Schnitzel war ziemlich trocken und eher geschmacksneutral. Der Salat war auch lecker mit einem guten Dressing. Vom Ambiente her sehr stylisch und trotzdem urig durch den Gewölbekeller Charm. Unsere, sehr freundliche, Kellnerin brachte als Entschädigung für das Schnitzel einen Espresso aufs Haus.

Am Anfang war es sehr laut. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Super Weihnachtsdeko.

Wer es gern etwas teurer mag, liegt hier richtig. Essen war gut, hatte aber seinen Preis! Service zuvorkommend.

Wir waren mit einer Gruppe von 30 Personen für´s Abendessen angemeldet; kamen aber mit 35. War kein Problem - hat alles perfekt geklappt. Sehr professionelle und freundliche Bedienung. DIe Vorbestellung a la carte ist natürlich etwas chaotisch, wenn sich keiner mehr erinnert was sie/er gewählt hatte. Aber das hat das Personal mit Gelassenheit und Freundlichkeit geregelt. Insgesamt eine ausgesprochen angenehme Erfahrung mit sehr leckerem Essen in urig-typischem Ambiente. Unsere internationalen Gäste haben es sehr genossen. Empfehlenswert, in jedem Fall!

Very nice location. Good is quite ok, but not exceptional.

Keine intime Atmosphäre, Getränke und Essen ziemlich hochpreisig, deshalb nur ein Bier getrunken und weitergezogen. Die Akustik ist ziemlich laut dort. Die Bedienung war engagiert und sehr nett.
