Bullerjahn in Göttingen

Je höher die Erwartungen, desto höher das Risiko einer negativen Bewertung. Das Personal ist überaus freundlich und beantwortet gerne alle Fragen. Die Speisekarte ist umfangreich und bietet für jeden Geschmack etwas. Die Gerichte sind sehr ansprechend angerichtet. Schade nur, dass sie geschmacklich leblos sind; egal welches Gericht man wählt (wir hatten drei), es schmeckt immer gleich. Wirklich schade.

Wir waren mit 8 Personen zum Abendessen im Lokal. Wir wurden freundlich empfangen und hatten reserviert. Das Ambiente ist sehr schön, auch der Service war immer freundlich. Leider stimmt für mich das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis nicht. Ich hatte eine Ratsherrenpfanne die sehr überschaubar war. Die Speckbohnen waren lauwarm und das Schweinefilet sowie das Rindersteak waren vielleicht so groß wie die Handfläche eines Kindes. Satt geworden bin ich nicht, auch anderen Familienmitgliedern ging es ähnlich. Für knapp 25€ hatte ich ein bisschen mehr erwartet, schade. Geschmacklich war das ganze in Ordnung.

Lange Wartezeit obwohl nicht viel los ist, Essen ist leider nichts besonderes. Sehr laut da am Platz und dort ständig Demos statt finden. Für uns nichts, keine Parkplätze, sehr weiter weg.

Zur Haxe: wunderbar zartes Fleisch aber die sogenannte Kruste schien aus weichem Gummi zu sein.

Schönes Restaurant mit sehr nettem und aufmerksamem Service! Leider konnte das Essen nicht ganz mithalten. Mein Ratsherrenteller war insgesamt eher mittelmäßig, weil das Fleisch leider sehr trocken gebraten war. Die Spargelsuppe hingegen war wirklich lecker. Für das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis unterm Strich leider nur Durchschnitt. Schade, denn das Ambiente ist eigentlich top.

Wir waren heute für ein Getränk im Außenbereich des Restaurants. Eigentlich hatte ich nur gutes über den Bullerjahn gehört und hatte mich gefreut, mal da zu sein. Allerdings war die Erfahrung eine reine Enttäuschung: Begrüßt wurde man von einer jungen Dame, indem sie die Speisekarte auf den Tisch knallte. Sie kam dann recht zügig zurück um unsere Bestellung aufzunehmen - diesmal mit einem kurzen Lächeln. Dann durften wir 20 Minuten auf 3 Getränke warten, obwohl mindestens 4 Service Leute auf der Terasse bedient haben. Dazu muss man sagen, dass wirklich nicht viel los war während unseres Besuches. Der 5€ „Erdbeer Eistee“ hat leider nur nach Wasser mit ein wenig Sirup geschmeckt… Unser Nachbartisch hatte übrigens noch länger gewartet als wir.. Naja schade - hoffentlich haben andere Gäste eine bessere Erfahrung!

Waren vorhin hier essen. Fast 25 € für "Unsere Ratsherrenpfanne". Die gesamte Gruppe von 8 Leuten ist nicht satt geworden. Selbst eine Reklamation wegen eines nicht guten Essen wurde abgewunken. Wer hier essen geht sollte nicht hungrig hingehen.

Wir waren eine Gruppe mit 20 Personen und hatten reserviert. Saßen quasi alleine im Keller. Draußen war aufgrund des Wetter normal bis gut besucht. Aus meiner Sicht war es nicht super voll. Leider mussten wir mehr als 2,5h auf das Essen warten. Das ist leider nicht in Ordnung.

Ein wirklich schön gestalteter Ratskeller in einem historische Gebäude, trotzdem modern gestaltet und dennoch gemütlich. Sehr freundliche Bedienung, auch wenn immer wieder neues Personal bei uns am Tisch war. Lecker lokales Bier und mein Wagyu-Burger war saftig und sehr intensiv. Ein paar Röstaromen hätten dem Fleisch noch gut getan. Die Pommes taugten nix. Die Forelle sah auch sehr gut aus. Würde hier gerne wieder Essen.

Angenehmes Restaurant direkt im Zentrum.

Wie immer, durch Zufall gefunden und sehr zufrieden. Freundliche Bedienung, versteht auch Spaß, die Teller sehr warm und das Essen hat gut geschmeckt. Leider das Bier zu salzig, es hatt nach nach me(e)hr geschmeckt. Gerne wieder.

Ein wunderschöner Ratskeller mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Kellergewölbe mit allem drum und dran. Sehr gemütlich. Der Service vom Feinsten. Küche: alles ist zu empfehlen. Service eher bodenlos. Waren zwei Mal dort. Freitagabend nur für Getränke und Samstagmittag. Insgesamt dauert alles (Karte, bestellen, zahlen) sehr lange und man muss die Servicekräfte zwingen beachten zu werden. Beide Male wurde das Geschirr der vorherigen Gäste nicht abgeräumt, obwohl relativ viele Servicekräfte vor Ort waren. Sie sind zumeist ohne Geschirr zurück in die Küche. Das gilt für nahezu alle Tische. Freitagabend war dazu noch nicht einmal viel los (waren erst gegen 21:00 dort).

Wir waren zur Mittagszeit zu Zweit hier und saßen draußen. Service und das Ambiente im Restaurant sind top. Das Gericht selber konnte diesen Erwartungen nicht gerecht werden. Der Flammkuchen hat nach nichts geschmeckt und das Schnitzel war guter Durchschnitt. Alles im allen etwas enttäuschend, aber mit anderen Gerichten vielleicht besser.

Ein fantastisches Restaurant! Als Vegetarierin war alles unglaublich lecker, daher kann ich es nur wärmstens empfehlen! Es gab ein Buffet mit gebackenem Gemüse, gebackenen Kartoffeln, Salat und Panna Cotta. Ich war von der hervorragenden Qualität und Frische der Speisen total begeistert! Vielen Dank für dieses tolle Erlebnis! Die Atmosphäre war gemütlich, die Dekoration wunderschön und das Personal überaus freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Wir hatten die Scharwache für eine Veranstaltung für 20 - 25 Personen reserviert. Es war nahezu perfekt. Der Raum passt gut zu uns, das Essen war lecker das Personal ausgesprochen freundlich und aufmerksam. Gern wieder!

Paniertes Schnitzel mit Gurkensalat, Preiselbeermarmelade und Pommes - einfach, preiswert und sättigend.

Wir haben nur ein paar Bier getrunken. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Da sind wir gleich nächsten Tag nochmal eingekehrt

Ein schönes Restaurant mit wunderschönem Interieur und toller Atmosphäre. Es macht richtig Spaß, dort zu sitzen, gutes Essen und nette Leute an diesem einzigartigen Ort zu genießen. Ich habe im März 2026 die Ratsherrenpfanne bestellt und sie war sehr lecker mit drei Fleischsorten, Bratkartoffeln und grünen Bohnen. Nur die Portion hätte etwas größer sein können. Trotzdem eine klare Empfehlung!

Auf der Durchreise und angefixst von den Bewertungen haben wir uns entschlossen hier etwas zu essen. Die Location ist echt mal ne Nummer. Riesen groß und Platz für ca. 250 Gäste. Zum Glück waren wir im Restaurant zur Mittagszeit die einzigen Gäste, nur eine Guppe hat sich noch im Nebenraum aufgehalten. Es ist schon erschreckend, dass zur Mittagszeit nichts los ist. Die Bestellung wurde schnell und zuverlässig abgefragt, Sonderwünsche wurden berücksichtigt und auch in der Küche noch einmal Rücksprache gehalten und abgesichert. Das Essen kam gut temperiert und sehr ansehnlich dekoriert. Geschmacklich waren wir alle zufrieden. Die Portionen könnten etwas größer sein. Erneute Anfrage von Wünschen und Desserts. Leider auch mit dem Hinweis das jetzt gleich geschlossen wir und man noch ca. 15 Min. Zeit hätte. Wir würden uns werden aber wiederkommen.

Essen (Variation von Steaks), war lecker, Garstufe zum Teil etwas zu durch. Pommes waren lecker, dagegen die Bratkartoffeln lauwarm und nicht knusprig. Service war freundlich, aber etwas vergesslich. Ambiente ist schön, wir würden aber trotz Reservierung und genügend freien Plätzen, an eine eher abgelegene Stelle gesetzt.

I was rather disappointed with the meals I ordered; they lacked finesse and (particular) flavor, I expected more! The service was inattentive; we waited a long time, and when we had finished eating, the plates remained on the table for ages before being cleared, even though the restaurant was practically empty. There is certainly more potential in this otherwise beautiful and nicely decorated location, both in terms of the food and the service.

Excellent food, drink (recommend the self made lemonade) and atmosphere.

We've been to Bullerjahn many times in recent years and have never been disappointed, but this time neither the food nor the service was satisfactory. The Einbeck beer soup was nothing but mustard soup. There was no taste of either the beer or any base, be it beef or vegetable broth. They completely forgot to serve the goose consommé. Instead, they served the goose with red cabbage and dumplings. The goose was quite dry and sat atop a small mound of red cabbage surrounded by three tiny dumplings. I don't know why they skimped on the side dishes. Needless to say, the goose eaters left the table hungry. The same goes for the person who ordered the pork ribs. The number of ribs on the plate was meager, as was the side dish: a very small portion of fries. We waited an hour and a half for the food, which didn't even fill us up. And then there were problems with the payment. It took a very, very long time before each of us received the correct bill.

Expensive, not particularly good, and unfortunately my appetizer was forgotten despite two requests!

We stopped in Göttingen just for lunch, and it was well worth it. As part of a trip from Leipzig to Kassel, we stopped at the Bullerjahn restaurant in Göttingen. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the dining room is a blend of modern and classic styles. It's perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. Friendly staff and a delicious lunch made our visit to the Bullerjahn complete. All in all, a delightful lunch with the Christmas market right at the entrance. Thank you, we will definitely be back.

It was a quarter of a goose breast for full price. Skimping on the portion size is the wrong way to win customers. I'm used to larger portions in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. The service and atmosphere were okay.

Very small portions of decent food, but for me definitely not better than significantly cheaper restaurants.

I had an excellent dinner here my first night in Göttingen. Lovely space, good service and great food. I had the roasted pork knuckle. Delicious. Vegan colleague was pleased with the menu as well.

We were there on Sunday with a group of 10. The atmosphere was excellent. We were served quickly, and the waiter was very friendly. Since the food was also outstanding, we can only give it full marks. Keep it up!

Good food, great atmosphere, friendly service – all good. The prices are a bit higher compared to other restaurants of the same quality, but that's okay. I still preferred the Ratskeller, but it's recommendable.

Really poor service, the food is okay but nothing special. We waited almost 1 hour to get the food and it didn't arrive at the same time dor the table. The vegan options were small and really expensive. Now, when we had to pay they came immediately.

We had something to celebrate, and a better place would have been hard to find. Nine people, a great table, delicious food, and very friendly staff. An unforgettable evening, we'd love to come back! Michael

Fast service, delicious food and fair prices.

Dear Bullerjahn Team, We have dined at your restaurant a few times and were previously satisfied. Today, however, we dined with our family and were very disappointed. The chairs were covered in breakfast crumbs, and the table hadn't been wiped. The food took an hour to arrive. The appetizer, Camembert with toast, was not cooked (it was frozen solid), and the toast wasn't toasted as usual. After complaining, it arrived as expected, at least cooked. The main courses came with inadequate side dishes. The fries were just the leftover bits from the bag. We sent those back as well. The portions were generally rather small and not filling enough for adults. Your beautiful and inviting ambiance suffered considerably due to broken toilet locks and a broken/hanging soap dispenser, which we had to fix ourselves as best we could. Some of the staff tried their best and apologized for the issues, citing a lack of qualified personnel. Unfortunately, this is a poor excuse for the price we paid. Even after directly addressing the issue, there was no attempt to resolve the problem.

We were a large group (>20) and had pre-ordered our meal. We were all very pleased with the restaurant. The location and setting are wonderful, the menu was well priced and the food very good. We also appreciated the good service and excellent communication beforehand.

The ambiance is lovely and the welcome was friendly. The main course, sauerbraten on savoy cabbage with mashed potatoes, was delicious and beautifully presented. The dessert, however, was a complete disappointment: The Kaiserschmarrn arrived less than five minutes after ordering – and it tasted exactly as bad. Cold, uninspired, and clearly a pre-made product. Completely unacceptable for €10. Even worse was the reaction to my complaint: Instead of apologizing or offering a solution, the whole thing was simply smiled away. That's no way to treat guests. It's a shame about the lovely atmosphere – with this kind of service and attitude, I certainly won't be returning.

The breakfast for two is very generous and delicious. However, two more small rolls would be nice. But you can order them separately. I'd gladly come again!

Excellent German cuisine at a superb price. A lovely atmosphere and outstanding service complete the culinary experience! A little tip: for €15, under the heading "The Göttingen Seven" you'll find delicious set menus to suit every taste!

To remind you of the odious words I once used about my visit to Restaurant Bullerjahn, here is the (now deleted) review again in full: "★★ The price/performance ratio is barely adequate, the service was rather careless, and the food was quite cold. Service type: Dine-in Type of meal: Dinner Price per person: €20–30" I would like to make it absolutely clear at this point that I distance myself as much as possible from this review, which a less mature and experienced version of myself wrote in the past out of pure resentment. ``` I had no idea what disastrous consequences such a slanderous and poisonous review could have for the Bullerjahn Restaurant, which I have come to hold in high esteem. Furthermore, I would like to thank the restaurant's owners for not pursuing legal action in the face of such baseless and malicious defamation and simply instructing Google to delete the review. I also understand that you didn't contact me beforehand; if you were me, my anger would have been too great for clear and clarifying words. The food was delicious, congratulations to the kitchen, and the beer was tasty too. The staff was friendly. The absolute highlight, however, is the view of the vaulted cellar. It's simply wonderful to be able to stay in such a historic building. Unfortunately, many people may not be fully aware of this.

The roulade for €22.90 was tough. The service was very friendly, though. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

We went to the Bullerjahn for a business lunch with some foreign guests. The selection was good, the service was super friendly, and the food was delicious. We particularly enjoyed the beer tasting. A definite "like," and we'll be back!

The food was mediocre, actually bad for the price. Service was unfriendly, and criticism was handled with no response at all, neither apologies nor any corrections. The service was barely present, and we forgot our drink orders. Despite the nice ambiance, we won't be coming back.

Went there for a quick beer tasting, but unfortunately, all five beers arrived at the table not exactly cold. However, a freshly ordered wheat beer was nice and cold and delicious. Watch the temperature, and otherwise, send it back. Service was very friendly—the location is also great.

Our visit was unfortunately a bit disappointing. It started with the waiter not smiling when greeting us, and we felt completely overwhelmed when assigning a table in the large room. Barbecue utensils and gas bottles were lined up in the hallway, as if it were a storage room. The waiter burned himself on a candle while putting down glasses. A dismal birthday greeting from the waiter. The food was a little too underwhelming for the location... Dry schnitzel with fries and cucumber salad, and a drop of cranberries. Unimaginative. The food we wanted was unfortunately out of stock. Wine was served in a plastic bag for cooling, with water in it, and the cold water dripped over the food when you poured it in. Not nice either. Overall, a great location, but the food definitely has room for improvement.

We came here for dinner today with 14 people. However, the restaurant was not to our satisfaction. The food was okay, nothing special. The price was generally unjustified for the portion size. We ordered two portions of ox cheeks, and the meat consisted mostly of fat – an absolute disgrace. We then returned the food and ordered more; it took almost an hour. Since everyone else had already finished eating, we wanted to cancel the meal so we could leave. The manager then came over to us without apologizing and offered to give us the food for free or throw it away. After this incident, the service was very unfriendly. I would not visit this restaurant again and would not recommend it to anyone.

The food itself was disappointing: The schnitzel was extremely thin and tough, and the ox cheeks, which are normally lean, consisted almost entirely of fat. Truly borderline. After complaining about these, we ordered different food. However, it took 30 to 45 minutes to arrive. Other tables that had ordered much later were served before us. The waiter barely paid any attention to us and even became rude at the end. The restaurant was not even half full; you really wonder what it's like when it's full. For a 4.3-star rating, we had expected much more. Unfortunately, I absolutely do not recommend it.

We went there last Saturday for dinner with four people. We chose the restaurant based on the many positive reviews. So we sat outside. The waiter came to bring us our menus. Shortly after, we made our decision. Drinks: 1 small beer, 1 rhubarb spritzer, 1 water, 1 Aperol. We also ordered food right away. 1 burger, 1 hunter's schnitzel, 1 lumberjack steak, 1 baked potato with quark and salmon. Sooooo... after 40 minutes and noticing that other tables that were occupied later had already ordered, I asked for our order. This waiter didn't know anything. So the head waiter came. He noted our displeasure and wanted to take care of it. 10 minutes later, the burger and schnitzel arrived. Another 7 minutes later, the lumberjack steak arrived. And we were told that the salmon with the potatoes was out. They were supposed to serve chicken with it. We declined. You have to think about that...I think that's pretty bad. Yeah, yeah...only now did the drinks arrive. Instead of a small beer, there was a large one. The Aperol was so thin...you could have easily eaten 10. The burger was okay. The schnitzel was okay. The lumberjack dish was more reminiscent of dry shoe soles than juicy meat. If that's standard there, as our friends later told us...then I don't understand the positive reviews. We certainly won't be going back. Enjoy your meal.

We waited more than an hour for the food

A full 5 stars from me! The ambiance is inviting, and the service is very courteous and attentive. The dishes are seasonally adapted and served promptly and in generous portions, hot. I haven't been disappointed on any of my visits. I'll be back!

We were there for lunch on August 27th, just the two of us, and sat outside. The food arrived quickly, about 20 minutes. Everything was delicious and appetizingly presented! The server was very friendly and accommodating! We will definitely be back!

German cuisine with a somewhat contemporary twist, but still very meat-heavy. The tarte flambée was good, and they have several draft beers, which you can also get on a tasting board. Nice location and good service.

I spontaneously went out to eat on the terrace and ordered schnitzel. I'm very skeptical because I only eat schnitzel in Austria. But it was fantastic, so fresh, crispy and wafer-thin, and everything was superbly seasoned. It was like a short vacation in Austria; I'll be back. And €19 is totally fine; you pay more for schnitzel everywhere.

The service was warm, attentive, and pleasantly uncomplicated. The drinks were great, everything ran smoothly and relaxed, allowing us to fully concentrate on our guests and the special moment. A huge thank you to the entire team – you helped make our wedding day unforgettable!

The tables were dirty, and drinks were simply taken away even if they weren't empty. The wait for drinks took 30 minutes. The men's restrooms weren't clean.

I was in Göttingen on business and had lunch at Bullerjahn, so I gave it a second chance. Unfortunately, it was an even bigger disappointment, because the shrimp pan was returned lukewarm three times. The question that comes to mind is whether this is a chef who knows his craft, or what industry he comes from. Is it service staff or just waitressing? That's the question here, because arguing with the customer about whether it's hot or lukewarm when you can touch a cast-iron pan is definitely not hot. Luckily, the Coke was cold. They could do a lot more with this place, and above all, hire a chef who loves cooking and does it with passion.

We had the beef burger and the councilman's pan. The burger was really tasty, but it wouldn't have filled a man. The councilman's pan is one of the most expensive dishes on the menu and not worth the money. It tastes great, but the piece of pork was ridiculously small and eaten in two bites. The amount of fried potatoes was also very small. The waitress didn't bring Majo's second order, and they didn't bring our second drink either. There was no follow-up question about how we liked the food. It's not a restaurant we would go to again.

Sorry guys, you have a café in the "Forum Wissen" museum and you're charging €3.50 for a Kinder Cactus ice cream. That's extortionate and simply outrageous.

I've never eaten such a dry baked potato; even my mother-in-law can do better! Even the tiny portion of herb curd doesn't help. You pay €7 extra for two slices of salmon. You can't really go wrong with fries either; in this restaurant, they even manage to forget to season them. The burger also came with sugary bucket-sized coleslaw, which was typical of the house. Furthermore, instead of a "light" beer, we were served a wheat beer, and when we pointed out that we hadn't ordered it, they ignored it. We would have liked to give personal feedback, but no inquiries about our satisfaction were forthcoming. Conclusion: €50 for two bad meals and one bad drink. You can do it, but you don't have to.

Top! The person who served us deserved more than 5 stars. We were there for several hours and felt very comfortable.

I went there for lunch with my girlfriend. We ordered homemade lemonade. We were a bit disappointed: elderflower-lemon syrup with dried lemon slices. I think these are part of the Christmas decorations. Fresh lemon would have been better in my opinion. I ordered baked potatoes with potato salad, remoulade, and cranberry dip. The cucumbers on the salad were unfortunately very thickly sliced ​​and very hard. The salad was tasty. The remoulade and dip were unfortunately not homemade, and the chicken tasted good, but unfortunately it wasn't boned properly. Biting into gristle is not nice. Perhaps a little more care should be taken in the preparation and fresh, regional products used. Homemade remoulade is not rocket science and is quick to make.

It's a shame we ate at Bullerjahn again today after a long time. Wiener Schnitzel with Fries The fries were crispy but unfortunately over-fried. The meat was in a breading that was half empty. I doubt the veal was fresh. It was miles away from a very good Wiener Schnitzel. The cucumber and sour cream salad as a side dish was very good. Hänschen Schnitzel with Fried Eggs The schnitzel came with two fried eggs. The schnitzel itself was dry, and I would classify it as good frozen meat. Side dishes as above. For the price, it's on the level of a snack bar. Unfortunately, the quality isn't appropriate for the location. Service from the staff was excellent.

The table for nine people, which we had pre-booked for lunch, was hastily and somewhat carelessly pushed together upon our arrival. The service was friendly but slow. The wait times, especially for the food, were relatively long. The mixed starters were tasty, but ridiculous for the price. The main courses were mediocre, with three dishes missing and only arriving at the table after everyone else had finished eating. To make matters worse, the salmon that was ordered later was still raw. Even the side salad and the free espresso couldn't improve the overall poor impression. We cannot recommend the Bullerjahn.

The roulade for €22.90 was so tough that it couldn't be cut even with a steak knife, which was brought after a complaint. The service was very friendly, though, and you could see she was embarrassed. The schnitzel had no seasoning on the meat. So, unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

The ambiance inside is fantastic. It's really well done. You can sit and enjoy the atmosphere in front of the Bullerjahn in the heart of the city. We had an excellent meal here and were well looked after.

The menu is varied. The waffle iron is often broken, and waffles are then unavailable.
