An awesome authentic German bar/restaurant in old town of Hannover. Dishes are super delicious. Very old place. Local people hang out place. Crowd is well behave. Service is awesome. They serve Gilde beer here. Really enjoyed the food and drink in here. Walking distance from Kropcke Ustra station. We sat on mezzanine part which is mainly for families and seve food and beverages. Pork dishes and salmon dish are really delicious. Love the vibe of this place.

We went there for the first time, spontaneously, on a Saturday at 6:30 pm, and were lucky enough to get a table for two. A lovely old inn. Friendly staff. The green/brown cabbage was delicious!!! [The sausage went very well with it - but it's also good without it]. The price is fair and the atmosphere in the "deele" (hall) is rustic. Hearty and traditional at its best! Highly recommended.

Really friendly host managed to squeeze us in on the bar. Had the drillteller and apple strudel and it was great. Went back again the next night and had the pork knuckle which was even better

First place to have light beer, got to stop and have one myself. Lots of meal options located in old town with lots of rich history near by.

Unfortunately, I can only give a bad rating. We wanted to have drinks with four people and were sent down to the cellar because it was too full upstairs. We were seated there. When we ordered our drinks, we were told to leave and told drinks were only available upstairs. We then left without ordering. That's not what I call service.

A great evening. The waitress was very attentive and remembered everything. The quality of the food was very good.

It was the high light of our trip to hannover, the best dutche dinner we had. Haxe was excellent. Very good staff and quality in service.

Traditional restaurant, very good and tasty food

We had a reservation for a group of 22 people in the vaulted cellar. Communication during the reservation process was excellent. We were even able to help design the reduced menu. Despite the small space, the ambiance in the vaulted cellar is fantastic. The food arrived quickly and was excellent. The service was very attentive and friendly. We felt very comfortable. A definite recommendation.

The restaurant specializes in German cuisine. Excellent food, excellent service, but it comes at a price, especially since the restaurant is located in the heart of the old town.

Let me put it this way: YOU JUST HAVE TO LIKE THE ATMOSPHERE. BUT: Great, friendly staff, short wait for the food, and everything was really good and delicious.

I went without a reservation, and they did their best to find me a spot. Everything was top-notch, and the atmosphere was magical. Very good service.

I was here with a group, which made things a bit tricky for the waitress. However, the waitress always handled it in a friendly and polite manner. My meal was absolutely delicious, and from what I heard, everyone else's must have enjoyed it too. A definite recommendation.

Deliciously authentic with delicious schnitzel and witty service.

We stopped by here for drinks during our brief layover in Hanover. We saw some veggie options on the menu and decided to try them - Potato vegetable gratin, Stew with potato and vegetables & kids Nemo teller were all excellent!

I can't say anything about the food, but when our dog is looking for water (as we're passing by) and the waitress asks if we want a bowl of water and goes inside to get some water, it's so attentive and friendly that it deserves 5 stars :-) Thank you

My potato gratin with vegetables was a "bowl" of (unfortunately not fresh) frozen mushy vegetables drenched in cream sauce?! With leftover potatoes in it and topped with cheese...I can't recommend it at all, unfortunately. The other food was...okay. No more visits!

We were there on a Saturday lunchtime and the three of us managed to get a table. It's very quaint and the menu is as you'd expect from the ambiance, very rustic. We had the dumplings with mushrooms, the pork knuckle, and the cordon bleu. Our requests for changes were dealt with kindly, but criticism was unfortunately met with incomprehension. The other two dishes were okay, except for my cordon bleu, which had been in the fryer a bit too long, and the fried potatoes were really not good. They were oily and completely dry, as if they'd been eking out an existence in the pan for two hours. Crispy is one thing, but these were just dead. The knuckle was very salty and there was a stick in the mushrooms (real wild mushrooms 😄). Overall, it was okay, but not something I'd go back for.

My first visit several months ago was excellent. Yesterday I was in Hannover and visited the restaurant again. Disappointing. The lady at the service was bored to talk and the food was dry, dry from reheating. I understand that the cooked food was prepared at noon. OK. But learn how to reheat it the right way. Very bad experience. Too bad.

The food was consistently delicious. The service was super friendly. We were seated in the back room, which was set up like a small kitchen. Simply fantastic.

There was beef roulade with mashed potatoes and red cabbage, and a roast suckling pig with fried potatoes and red cabbage. Both were absolutely delicious.

Quaint restaurant in Hanover's old town. Typical (German) local cuisine with a wide selection. The restaurant has plenty of space over three floors plus an outdoor area, making it suitable for larger groups. The service in the evening and the communication with management beforehand were excellent. We would be happy to return. Update June 2025 We received a very warm welcome again last night. The waiter demonstrated great creativity and professionalism in arranging seating for our group. Overall, it was admirable how well he served and entertained "his groups on the first floor." The food was, as always, delicious and, above all, fresh.

Be careful when paying with a (credit) card. The amount you pay is 10% higher than the amount on the bill. The waiter takes your card from your hands and puts it on the payment device himself. You can't see what amount he typed in. Fraud. Scandalous.

We were very satisfied. The service was quick and good, the food was delicious and plentiful and the value for money was also right.

It was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Despite the restaurant having empty tables, my group was immediately turned away by the waitstaff, who claimed they couldn’t serve us without a reservation. The problem? They never even asked if we had a reservation—they simply refused us the moment they saw us. The way we were treated felt outright discriminatory. Other guests (who appeared to be locals) were seated without issue, while we—who were clearly Asian foreigners —were dismissed without basic courtesy. The staff showed no willingness to accommodate us or even check availability, making us feel unwelcome and judged based on our appearance.

The Broyhan Haus is a very old and rustic restaurant. You can feel the charm of bygone times. The menu reflects traditional German hospitality. What comes on the plate is very tasty, but certainly not top cuisine. The beer selection is excellent. The service was initially a little stressed due to the number of guests at the Protestant church conference, which was understandable. But that went away over time.

German food restaurant. Good presentation and quite generous portions. I ordered a pork knuckle with Chuchrut and potatoes. It was good but a little dry for my taste. The best is the crispy skin. It is possible that being a little more done was due to the time, since it was well after the traditional meal time. Very reasonable price.

Food is good and sufficient portions, but the price is something you have to want

We were here at lunchtime and just wanted to eat a small dish. We decided on potato dumplings with braised mushrooms. The portions were big enough to fill you up. However, the dish was not very seasoned and the lack of sauce made it a bit dry. A bit disappointing for the price of €15. That's better! But here you can relax on the rustic ambience of the house and are looking for walk-in customers who won't come back anyway.

Schnitzel with mushroom sauce was the tastiest I have eaten in recent years. My son took the lamb with puree and was not disappointed either. I definitely recommend a visit!

There were two of us in the restaurant and we got a nice table without a reservation. The service was super nice and attentive. The currywurst was delicious and nicely presented with a small side salad. We'd love to come back.

Excellent restaurant/pub on Kramerstraße in the heart of Hannover. It is located in a beautiful row of historic half-timbered houses, 50 meters west of the Marktkirche. The cellar walls date from the 14th century, the building from 1576, and the facade from 1830 (it is the second oldest surviving half-timbered building in Hanover). It is named after Cord Broyhan, a brewer who lived there from 1537 to 1561. The restaurant itself has a very nice simple menu, with traditional North German dishes (of good quality). The staff is also very nice and hospitable. We really had a great evening here (excellent ambiance)!

A truly beautiful restaurant, with a vaulted cellar. The service was excellent. There were 15 of us, and the waiter knew exactly who had ordered what, even though some people had moved around.

The schnitzel here is not the typical hard one that is fried in a lot of oil, but I get the impression that it is made with care and care. The mushroom sauce is also delicious. The portion is huge and it comes with a salad for 22.5 euros, which I think is pretty good. There don't seem to be many employees, and the inside of the restaurant isn't large, so if you're a large group, you might have to wait, but I'm impressed by the careful preparation of the food.

Place to try typical German food. It was good but nothing too special. Good service. The restaurant is in one of the oldest buildings in Hannover.

In a big city with an ambitious location you can get a good price/performance ratio. Something like that doesn't work in the provinces

We felt very comfortable in the Broyhan House - from the friendly acceptance of the reservation to the excellent food to the attentive, competent service, everything was perfect! The Muscovy duck in orange sauce with red cabbage and croquettes was a delight, as well as the delicious Dornfelder and a schnapps at the end - you couldn't ask for more! We sat comfortably and there was also good music - that's not the case everywhere! Many thanks to the team and warm greetings to the kitchen!

We stayed there two years ago and returned in 2024 and this restaurant never disappoints. It is divided over two floors. On the first floor there is a restaurant with a low ceiling furnished entirely in wood which offers a magic of warmth and welcome. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The typical dishes of the local cuisine are delicious and the portions are excellent. It's located quite centrally so parking is a bit of a challenge. There is a toilet. There are also tables outside.
