Wonderful atmosphere and great German food. It's literally in a cellar and the wine collection is excellent.

We received a very friendly welcome at the entrance, but after that everything had the charm of mass processing. In my opinion, the price/performance ratio is not right here. The food was at the table unusually quickly. Plates and plastic bowls for the salad had the character of a canteen. When I asked why the salad was served in such a bowl, I was told "that's new". The food was OK. But you would expect something better for the price. The ambience is nice.

We were amazed by the atmosphere and decoration of this place. First person (staff) who welcomed us was very friendly. Unfortunately, someone else got involved and he was very unfriendly. He doesn't have to be friendly but we asked about the traditional foods and we wanted suggestions. He literally ignored us and didn't recommend neither explained us anything about food eventhough we asked for it. We ordered soups as a starter. They were good. Our foods for main course were traditional Bremen food but they were tasted very strong and matured. No exaggeratinon but couldn't even had second bite. Another waiter said we might change it for you but when the ignorant waiter seen us he came and directly said no

Lovely atmosphere . Unfortunately although we asked for help the waiter didnt warn us about the food. We couldnt even touch it. İt tasted strong. We paid money for things we didnt eat.

Ladies and Gentlemen I would like to complain about my visit to the terrace of the Bremen Ratskeller. Unfortunately, our experience was in no way what one would expect from a traditional establishment like yours. Although only a few tables were occupied, we were completely ignored by the Spanish waitress (perhaps Ms. Perez, according to the statement) for over 20 minutes. There was no greeting or asking whether we would like to order something. In addition, the hygienic condition of the terrace was extremely questionable: many tables were dirty, there were empty glasses on almost all of them and it had obviously not been cleared away for a long time. What was particularly irritating and inappropriate was that the aforementioned waitress put her hands directly into used glasses when clearing away. This behavior not only seems unhygienic, but is also unacceptable in the catering industry. Due to these circumstances, we decided to leave the restaurant and spend our money at the competition. One thing is certain for us: we will not visit the Bremen Ratskeller again. I very much hope that you take this feedback seriously and take appropriate measures to bring the quality of your service and hygiene standards back to the level associated with your establishment. The food is quite tasty, even if it's sometimes a bit carelessly prepared or "slapped together". The restaurant is visually very, very chic. Some music is missing. The robots don't really fit into a 600-year-old cellar vault either. The service isn't inattentive, but it's also not exactly warm and, in my opinion, too flippant ("What can you do about you?" "That guy will do it right now"). For the hefty prices, I would expect a little more professionalism in all areas. But I would come back with a clear conscience.

Entered the restaurant with high expectations and left “disgusted”! Complete catastrophe! As a starter (after about 30 minutes of waiting) I got the soup.../. Cold!! Warm and edible after complaint! The main course (half 🦆 duck with side dish, as well as roast for my wife) was a raft in the water - you can't get such bad food even in a snack bar! Everything drowned in sauce and inedible! After complaining, we were credited with a drink, so we only had 95 Had to pay euros! Never again !! P.s: the drinks were good and cool

Unfortunately, the visit to this restaurant was not convincing. The service was friendly, but clearly not trained - questions about the card went unanswered and the process seemed uncoordinated overall. Unfortunately, the steak we ordered came at a completely wrong level of doneness: instead of medium, it was almost raw on the inside. For the price one would have expected much more care. A hollandaise sauce from a bag was served with it - the taste was artificial and anything but fresh. The presentation also left a lot to be desired: the dish was carelessly prepared, without any apparent effort or creativity. Overall the price/performance ratio was very disappointing. The prices quoted are not justified for this quality. Conclusion: Unfortunately, friendliness alone is not enough - neither the cuisine nor the quality of service is good here.

This has to be the best restaurant in town. The Bremer Knipp plus a great beer is the best. The Staff was helpfull the bring the baby trolley down the stair. It is the old cellar of the municipally hall so the place is full of history.

De locatie van dit restaurant, in de kelder van het eeuwenoude gemeentehuis, is natuurlijk de publiekstrekker. Loop ook gerust een rondje om de inwendige ruimte te bewonderen, maar struikel niet over de serviesrobot! 😉 Het eten is ook prima en de bediening is erg vriendelijk en attent. Geen haast, heel gemoedelijk. Tip: reserveer op tijd, want dan kun je in een van die knusse nisjes zitten.

This was my second time here and I was thrilled again. I really liked the quiet atmosphere with the historical ambience and the food was also delicious. The staff was also very friendly.

Price-performance ratio is not right

Price/performance ratio at the limit. Veal goulash wasn't convincing, sauce tasted more like a bag, butter spaetzle...well, just without butter. Presentation could be better. Labskaus was good.

Come here for the atmosphere but the food is terrible…

We were there on Good Friday evening and it was well attended. Nevertheless, we got a nice table. We were able to order quickly and we didn't wait long for our food. The service was very attentive and friendly. This made eating a poem. We were very satisfied and will definitely come back. Thank you .

After ordering, the hake was at our extremely uncomfortable little corner table in less than 5 minutes. Mass processing rules here, a fresh meal cannot be ready so quickly. I hardly believe that the extremely unfriendly service knew in advance what we wanted to eat! The volume was unbearable, baby cries and a bad smell coming from the direction of the men's toilet, which had greeted us as we entered. The wine was excellent... ok for €9.50 for the 0.2 liter glass, also reasonable. The vault is worth seeing, but that's about it.

A nice restaurant located inside an old wine cellar, it is in the center of the old city of Bremen and has reasonable prices seeing as it is right next to the Dom. The food here was great, I loved the Schweine and Rind braten. I dont think I have had such a good braten in a while. The service was good as well, friendly servers, they had a robot that takes dirty plates to the kitchen. The atmosphere was great too, they have old massive beer barrels. They even have booths with art on the walls, but i believe you need to ask specially to get it. It is a good choice if you are in the center and want to eat lunch as there weren't a whole lot of people. I do recommend. -Roberts Kalejs

Delicious food in the beautiful Bremen Ratskeller. The historical atmosphere is really special and makes the visit something unique. It was a bit noisy, but the ambience and taste more than make up for it. Recommended for everyone who wants to eat well and experience Bremen.

The historical ambience in the vaulted cellar is truly unique. We reserved a table for six people and were thrilled in every way. The staff was extremely friendly and the service left nothing to be desired. The food was excellent. Everyone was extremely happy with their choice. I myself tried the local specialty, the Bremer Knipp. I couldn't imagine anything better than an oatmeal sausage and I was given good advice. A wonderful evening in good company, hospitality at its finest.

Wir waren spontan zu 4 hier essen. 2 von 4 fanden das Essen sehr schlecht, 2 so einigermaßen. Ich hatte eine Kartoffelsuppe (die den Namen nicht verdient) Sie schmeckte sehr wässerig und hatte überhaupt keinen Geschmack. Es wirkte wie etwas Suppe in die Tasse gefüllt und dann mit Wasser aufgefüllt. Auf Rückfrage beim Kellner bekamen wir die Info, das dies schon das gleiche Rezept wäre welches jahrelang so gekocht wurde. Mein Mann hatte Fischpfanne "Bremer Pannfisch" mit Bratkartoffeln. Die Kartoffeln schmeckten alt, sehr fettig. Sie wurden auf keinen Fall frisch zubereitet, denn das Essen war nicht mal 5 min nach Bestellen auf dem Tisch. Der Fisch war sehr wenig. Bei einer Fischpfanne erwarte man mehr Fisch, als 2 kleine Stückchen Fisch (Größe ca. eine 5 DM Münze) und von Senfsauce ertränkt bei einem Preis von 27.-€. Bei unseren Freunden wurde einem das falsche Essen gebracht und beim anderen der Labskaus bestellt hatte, wurden die Gurken und Rollmops nachgeliefert, nachdem die Hälfte bereits gegessen waren. Alles in Allem eine Enttäuschung pur. Das Restaurant selber sieht super gemütlich aus. Deshalb waren wir wirklich sehr enttäuscht über die schlechte Qualität bei den hohen Preisen. (Suppe knapp 8 €, )

What lousy crap. We had 2 meals, Bremer Fischpann and potato soup with bread and greaves. The latter was the only thing that was edible. The soup was bland and seemingly watered down. The fried potatoes in the fish pan were really just bad. Some were fresh, others were streaked with fat. The fish was lukewarm and drowned in the mustard sauce. Never again

Food OK. Very loud due to the acoustics. Unfortunately, there weren't enough staff present, so serving a larger group (which had been agreed upon in advance) didn't go well. There was an angry discussion between a dissatisfied guest and a stressed-looking employee that could have been handled more calmly. I can't understand the majority of the top reviews here.

Even though there wasn't much going on, it wasn't possible to order anything to drink or even eat. After 20 minutes I left. Pride comes before a fall, all good things.

Amazing food and beautifully designed restaurant! The staff was friendly, though the service was a bit confusing with our orders—possibly because we were a group of 14. If you need a large table, make sure to mention it when reserving, as they don’t have a table for 14; we had to connect two tables ourselves. Muy buena comida y precios razonables. Bonito ambiente y gran ubicación. No tan bueno que el cumpleaños, que se señaló en la reserva, no recibió ninguna atención del personal. El camarero tampoco sabía quién había pedido la comida y nos hizo hacer la identificación de cada plato.

Il faut franchir la porte et descendre les escaliers au moins pour le décor. Les prix sont un peu élevé par rapport aux plats proposés. Mais ça reste un restaurant qu'il faut découvrir au moins pour la salle.

Wir haben den Ratskeller in Bremen besucht und waren begeistert. Das beeindruckende Kellergewölbe mit den großen alten Weinfässern verleiht dem Restaurant eine besondere Atmosphäre und macht den Besuch zu einem echten Erlebnis. Der Bremer Pannfisch war hervorragend – perfekt gebraten und wunderbar aromatisch. Besonders die Bratkartoffeln haben uns überzeugt: knusprig, goldbraun und voller Geschmack. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam, was den Abend angenehm abgerundet hat. Ein toller Ort für alle, die gutes Essen in historischem Ambiente genießen möchten. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

A very nice restaurant and typically North German! Had the Bremer Panfish, unfortunately the redfish died twice. Pollock fried to perfection. Vegetables very boring, frozen? Fried potatoes very tasty and well fried. Holondaise is not homemade but is of good quality. Conclusion, a really great restaurant and the food is still very good. There are things that you can't always get perfect in a commercial kitchen and you can accept that. We are very satisfied and will come back and that is important. P.S. A restaurant like this doesn't have to hide in Munich! You feel like you're in a Bavarian inn and the staff is just as smart.

The Ratskeller has a tradition. The food comes quickly and the selection is good, even for vegetarians. The service is great. You should definitely pre-order. It's nicest when you sit in one of the small alcoves. Just great. I would only like more vanilla sauce on the red jelly, preferably a whole jug. Very tasty 😉

We stop by the Ratskeller once a year for the trade fair. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio has decreased significantly. Unfortunately, the potatoes with my kale didn't taste fresh! My wife had the roast beef and pork; Here the sauce tasted strongly of convenience! It's a shame, we'll choose another restaurant in the future!

Wir waren im Oktober da und nach 20 Minuten sind wir wieder gegangen. Niemand kam an den Tisch. Wir geben immer einem Restaurant eine 2. Chance. So haben wir es letzte Woche noch einmal probiert. Leider ist das Essen komplett durchgefallen. Ich möchte näher nicht darauf eingehen, da ich bei einem anderen Portal die Nachricht bekommen habe das man meine Bewertung leider löschen muss. Die kurze Bewertung von mir wegen den Komponenten wurde als Defamierung angezeigt. Bei einem Preis von fast 30 Euro war das Essen eine Enttäuschung. Für uns leider keine Adresse mehr in Bremen.

We had pre-booked 6 seats for Saturday at 6 p.m., which was also necessary, it's cabbage and pee time with the tours, it filled up very quickly, unfortunately we had a table relatively close to the entrance and exit area, where there were crowds at the entrance, but the service was quick, with the drinks, only the music was booming from the Bacchus cellar. (cabbage driver) The meal 3 herring fillets with housewife-style sauce with fried potatoes was very tasty, only the fried potatoes were lukewarm and for a filling side dish in a very manageable bowl as a portion, side dishes salad crisp and tasty, partner had fried potatoes with Knipp that was nice and crispy, the apple compote not too sweet and a reasonable portion of fried potatoes on a plate. Both are priced the same. Gladly again, just not on Friday and Saturday evenings when the cabbage drivers are out and about.

Good restaurant in the basement of the 1405 town hall, ideal for trying local food. Quality dishes and reasonable prices. The meats are very good. The service is excellent and the place is elegant and clean. Highly recommended!

I tried the deer stew with mushrooms in berry sauce. The mushroom stew was served over homemade pasta with berries and pears. It is quite delicious, a softness unexpected from venison. It is well marinated. I definitely recommend it.

The Ratskeller in Bremen already has a historical atmosphere! A UNESCO World Heritage Site! We felt very comfortable here. The service was very attentive and the food was very good. Since the kale could have been a little warmer, a star deduction.

Nice Ratskeller atmosphere, very nice, attentive service. Very good chicken soup, but stay away from the fried potatoes! I was there with my sister in October 2023 to eat Knipp there as a former Bremer. There was a couple sitting next to us at the table who had a discussion with the waitress after we arrived, but we didn't pay any attention to them at first. When our Knipp arrived with fried potatoes, it looked very good. Unfortunately, when we tried it we discovered that the fried potatoes were mushy, almost slimy and therefore not edible. We called the waitress, who apologized and brought another portion of fried potatoes. Unfortunately it was just as inedible. We then had a short conversation with our table neighbors, who confirmed that they too had to return the fried potatoes. The service staff also mentioned that there were frequent problems with the fried potatoes. It might depend on the variety. In any case, they are self-made. Ultimately, even if the service was really nice and attentive, this was a very disappointing visit to such a renowned restaurant. Edit: It's exciting that the Ratskeller deletes reviews below four stars instead of apologizing and optimizing the kitchen - as would be professional. Unfortunately, one more reason to stay away from the Ratskeller on future visits.

Ratskeller in Bremen is an eye-catching place with its space design! 🏰 The atmosphere is really nice, a classic German atmosphere. Inside, we tried an asparagus and a meat dish, both were incredibly delicious! 🥩🍴 Also, the bread basket was very nice, the various fresh breads were a great touch. 🍞✨ However, the service is a little slow, this place may not be ideal if you are in a hurry. Even though the average age is a little higher, it is a great choice for a quiet and enjoyable dinner!

We booked to eat a mid-day menu. They seated us as soon as we arrived and gave us the cards. Shortly the waiter arrived to take our order. We asked her to allow us one more moment because we hadn't had time to look at the drinks menu and... big mistake... 15 minutes passed until we managed to get the attention of another colleague who we asked to please will take note. As a detail, while we were waiting for someone to ask for our bill, a couple arrived at the next table, to whom they left the cards and they left at the same time as us through the door, tired of having no one take note of them after more than 25 minutes. minutes. Restaurant review: Ratskeller Bremen – visit on December 29, 2024 The Ratskeller Bremen enjoys a reputation as a traditional restaurant. However, my private visit with my partner on the evening of December 29, 2024 left something to be desired. Below is my factual assessment: 1. Starter – Homemade chicken bouillon The bouillon was convincing in terms of taste: well seasoned, clear and appetizing. However, it was served before the drinks service. The bottle of water and the Pinot Blanc we ordered were only given later. A mismanagement of time that disrupted the process. 2. Serving temperature of the soup The soup was quickly put on the table, but not hot, just warm. Still solid in taste. 3. Main courses • Cheese platter: This impressed with quality, freshness and an appealing presentation. The bread selection was average but acceptable. • Bremer Pannfisch: Unfortunately a disappointment. The fish was served in a pan with vegetables - a classic way of preparation, but not optimally implemented. Only two small pieces of fish were found among excessive vegetables such as carrots and celery. The fried potatoes were “hidden” in the vegetable liquid and lost their texture. The mustard sauce showed a slight skin formation, a clear indication of warmed food. 4. Wine service The Pinot Blanc was served cool, but not at the appropriate drinking temperature. Post-cooling could have helped here. 5. Quality of service The service seemed inattentive. The waitress didn't ask about our satisfaction, but assumed that "everything was very good". This attitude left an unprofessional impression. 6. Value for money The pan fish for 27 euros and a total bill of over 100 euros do not reflect the previously known quality of the Ratskeller. The level of food and service was well below expectations for an established location in this price range. Conclusion The Ratskeller Bremen was disappointing that evening. The kitchen showed weaknesses in preparation and presentation, especially the main course. The service was disorganized and lacked any hospitality. As a long-time guest, it is difficult to recognize the former top quality in this experience. Improvements in kitchen performance and service culture are urgently needed in order to live up to the traditional reputation.

Unfortunately the fries were fried in fish oil (which is my taste). The fried potatoes with my fish (which was lukewarm) were warmed up. It's a shame, the location is very attractive. We won't eat here again.

The best brown cabbage with pee, smoked pork, cooked sausage and boiled potatoes - real local cuisine! The atmosphere in the cellar vault with old wine barrels is rustic and beautiful 😊 The fact that the self-service cutlery hangs on the stand on the table doesn't do justice to the great food.

I love it..! Eating here is like traveling back in time. We ate the lunch menu, what they call the "Mittagstisch", for less than 20 euros, which includes first course (salad and broccoli soup), second course (Gnocchi and chicken) and dessert; drinks are paid separately. The experience is worth it.

Hello, my wife had the chicken. It was very dry plus a few fries, 24 euros. It's pretty decent 😅 I had the Knipp, very dry and slightly burned. Maybe it should be that way! Also for 25 euros. Price performance ratio is not given!

A nice restaurant in Bremen located in a very old wine cellar, the food was much better than average. I had a beef broth soup that tasted very beefy, warm and flavorful. The main course chicken dish was very tender with very flavorful, thin but crunchy skin. The veggies were good but a bit bland

This historic Ratskeller am Markt, 28195 Bremen, is in a prime location on the picturesque market square. It is a huge underground vault with wood-clad walls, huge wine barrels and numerous coats of arms. Delicious dishes in a historical ambience, events and exciting crime, and pop dinners are the highlight here. Outstanding specialties as well as typical northern German cuisine, but also vegetarian/vegan options, are tasty here. So for me it is important to give absolute 5 stars in all categories.

I can only agree with the other positive reviews: service, location and quality of the food are TOP! Reserved for Sunday evening via OpenTable, we were given a private room and felt like councilors during important secret discussions. The location is very steeped in history: councilors, businessmen and captains met here (and still do), it's civilized, and anyone who studies the large wine list has an idea of ​​what importance Bremen once had in world trade. The wine recommendations come from a sommelier and are no coincidence; the prices are reasonable. A lovely experience!

The service is very nice, the vault is very impressive but it is very loud. We were there on a Monday and it was very busy. We made a reservation through open tabel and stated there that it was our 30th wedding anniversary and it would be nice if there was a sparkler on the dessert. This was not discussed at all in the Ratskeller. I found it a bit sad because we asked for special requests when making the reservation.

We had a cozy and very happy evening in the Ratskeller. The food was generous and very good. Mr. Knobloch served us fantastically, quickly, competently and with a lot of humor. We'll be back.

Classic North German dishes very well cooked/served. A very attentive waiter, who only takes care of the order, is served by friendly temporary staff who unfortunately have no idea about anything. The waiter even had to make an effort to reorder a forgotten plate. Ambience very, very impressive

We come from Oldenburg and recently dined in the Ratskeller. I was last there about 40 years ago and had fond memories of it. Luckily my expectations were completely met, and my family felt the same way. Excellent food, cozy atmosphere, great service. Still 5 stars for me!
