Lovely atmosphere and attentive service. The drinks are a bit overpriced. The desserts, at €11/€12, are overpriced for the small portion, even though they are of good quality. Unfortunately, the main course (sauerbraten with red cabbage for €24) seemed to be made with pre-cooked, reheated ingredients – this sweetish, overly soft red cabbage is something you often find elsewhere.

Delicious food and attentive staff. The Aachen-style sauerbraten with red cabbage and gingerbread sauce is highly recommended.

The most amazing traditional German food I've ever had after many months in Germany! The sauerbraten (mit beef / Rind) was out of this world, so tender and delicious. My husband had the pork schnitzel and it was also delicious. And we started with the Schwäbische Maultaschen. Our German friends just taught us about this dish... Here's what they said: Maultaschen have a nickname in the Swabian dialect: "Herrgottsbescheißerle," which translates to "Little God-cheaters". The legend says that Cistercian monks from the Maulbronn Monastery wanted to eat meat during the Lenten fast, which was forbidden. To hide the meat from God, they finely chopped it, mixed it with spinach and concealed it inside the pasta dough. And this became such a tradition that they are still enjoyed today by everyone. The service was very friendly and accepting of our limited German, happily switching to English for us. It should never be expected to have English spoken in any foreign country, but it was greatly appreciated. Thank you for a wonderful meal and experience!

Four of us went there for dinner. The service was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, most of the food was rather lacking. The wild herb salad was good, the sauerbraten was dry, and the sauce was not tasty at all. The fish was dry and only edible because the sauce was quite good. The Himmel und Äd (spiced celery) was also only very mediocre. Overall, the price/performance ratio is not good at all. There's definitely room for improvement!

Always a special restaurant visit. For us, everything is just right here. The food is incredibly delicious, the service staff is not only very attentive but always up for a little chat. Very friendly! And it probably goes without saying that the ambiance is top-notch. After the renovation, it has lost none of its charm, shining in its "new" former glory.

An enrichment to Aachen's culinary landscape. Well-planned renovation that retains its character. The staff was friendly and helpful, and changes to the side dishes were no problem. The food was very good, especially the potato salad, which is excellent. The price is on the high side, but overall, it's appropriate for the ambiance and the quality of the food. The only criticism our group unanimously expressed was the portion size. They could be a bit more generous with the side dishes.

Extremely friendly. Staff speaks perfect English. We ordered drinks, soups, and mains. All were delicious. When the bill came, they said the drinks were on the house because we had to wait long for the food. I was thinking whether they made a mistake because we didn't feel any unusual waiting. I thanked the kind waiter for the gesture. Any extra time we had we were using it to feed the infants that were with us. No one complained about the child noises. This establishment is highly recommended. I'd visit again.

The new renovation has truly transformed everything for the better: The ambiance is much more inviting, the food was exceptionally delicious, and the service was very attentive and friendly. I can especially recommend the Aachen Tiramisu dessert – an absolute must for the pure Aachen experience!

I'm 36 and have never eaten such good Sauerbraten. I don't usually eat dessert, but after the main course, I had to have a tiramisu. This one, too, has a unique selling point. Amazing, it's a shame Münster is so far away. Fantastic quality.

The Schwan looks fantastic in its new look. In addition to classic schnitzel, the dishes include dishes from various regions of Germany. I had the ox cheeks and, a day later, the shoveled pork. They were sensationally good. Friends of ours had a proper Wiener schnitzel and a Tafelspitz. In addition to the various beers, there's also a very good wine list with German wines at reasonable prices. Great ambiance and atmosphere. Finally, a restaurant in Aachen where I can enjoy fresh German cuisine.

My friend had the original Wiener Schnitzel, which is rarely found in this quality. We were also thrilled with the long drinks and cocktails – freshly mixed, balanced, and simply delicious. 🍸 The staff is attentive, friendly, and clearly enjoys their work. The bartender even came to our table personally to ask how we were enjoying our drinks – that's a rare occurrence! Wooooow! Finally, someone has brought this great old pub into the future. The brewery has a new, very stylish look with great accents. The stupid two-part swinging door is finally gone and replaced with a glass door. The restrooms are finally designed properly and are odor-free 👍 The real star, though, is the staff. Everyone is super friendly and enjoys their new role at the "new" Golden Swan. The food is truly great. Good, home-style cooking, something that was missing among all the franchise chains at the Aachen market. We were very pleasantly surprised and are happy to have a place to go again, both privately and with our club, at the Aachen market. Many thanks to the team!

Typical German cuisine is served. Food is good but nothing to rave about. Atmosphere is good and is one of the oldest restaurants in the city. Beware they only take cash-no cards accepted.

Unavailable despite the opening hours listed on the website. Standing in front of closed doors even though their website explicitly states that they're open. This has happened several times. Reservations are only possible by phone... only that no one answers despite calling during opening hours... I've called several times a day for a week and haven't been able to reach anyone. It's a real shame, especially since when you do find someone there, the food is so good.

We visited this restaurant on July 10, 2024, after prior reservation, with a 50-person coach. Our group was scheduled for 6 p.m., and I, as the waiter, was supposed to announce the food by phone starting at noon. After 17 calls, no one was available. When I returned from a bus tour at 4 p.m., I immediately went to the restaurant to complain to the staff and the owner. I was told that the telephone system had broken down. However, our group was supposed to be served promptly at 6 p.m. as ordered. This was not the case. We received our food after two hours, which was also limited to only five dishes. After further complaints, I was informed that the kitchen had given priority to another group that had ordered at 7 p.m., even though

Nie wieder diese Restaurant. Trotz Anmeldung mit einer Busgruppe mit 50 Personen und begrenzter Speiseauswahl 2 Stunden Wartezeit. Den ganzen Tag angeblich wegen einen Ausfall der Tel Anlage nicht erreichbar. Wurden dann lt. Angaben vom Chef bevorzugt. Was nicht der Fall war. Wir waren um 18 Uhr angemeldet. Beim Essen wurde aber eine andere Gruppe die um 19 Uhr angemeldet war zuerst bedient. So dass wir eine Wartezeit von zwei Stunden hatten.

The place is very particular and is located in one of the most beautiful areas of Aachen. The menu is limited to a few dishes but what we ordered was good and the service was ok. Nice atmosphere, when we went it was half empty. Average prices, naturally not comparable to some Italian areas, we were satisfied.

Gutbürgerliches restaurant in het centrum van de stad direct tegenover het fraaie stadhuis. Menukaart met de bekende Duitse gutbürgerliche gerechten. Kwalitatief niet echt hoogstaand. Prijs kwaliteit verhouding is goed omdat de prijzen zeer redelijk zijn. Zeer vriendelijk personeel.

The menu on the homepage lists significantly cheaper prices than they actually are in the restaurant. In addition, only cash payment is possible. The ambience is really beautiful and the service is very friendly, but the food is rather below average considering the quite high prices: the schnitzels are of snack quality and the sauerbraten with the delicious printen sauce instead of the advertised "with dumplings" had a single dumpling with a consistency like that Mashed potatoes and tasting like nothing. We were looking for currywurst on a cloudy day in Aachen and definitely found one of the right places in the middle of the city! :) Brauhaus was not a disappointment, they not only have good currywurst, but also cold beer on tap. I would also like to mention the very, very nice service and would definitely recommend the restaurant to someone who is looking for traditional German specialties.

Location is great, right in the city center of the city, next to the town hall. Dinner here was good. Our server was very nice, kind and fast. Good meal at a decent price. They did not rush us to leave the place as soon as possible. We have two kids with us, they were very kind to them. I really enjoyed here.

I don't like to hand out 1 star reviews. But this one... The food was okay. But it was served by a marginal waiter while a mouse walked through the almost empty restaurant. And as if it couldn't get any worse, the waiter burped after serving. There is no music on the 1st floor either...

Cozy inn with a great view. The service was very courteous and conveyed the Aachen charm well with his jokes. In itself a very touristy place based on the location. I would recommend getting a table by the window on the 1st floor to take advantage of the restaurant's biggest advantage: the view of the town hall. We actually had a nice, sociable time there. The food is a bit expensive for what you get, so one star deducted.

Nach 30 Jahren war ich dort mit Freunden. Das Bitburger war recht warm und schmeckte nicht wirklich frisch. Für die Schnitzel brauchte man eine Lupe. Meine Rippchen waren recht gut.

Beim Weihnachtsmarkt wollten wir draußen Glühwein trinken, am vom Restaurant bereit gestellten stand. Nach langem warten an der Theke, reagiert keine einzige Person. Auch bei Aufforderung das man gerne bestellen würde, wird man ignoriert… unglaublich. Nachdem wir dazu etwas sagten, wurde uns nur gesagt „wir sollen doch machen was wir wollen und uns woanders was zutrinken holen“ naja scheinen das Geld nicht nötig zuhaben, kann man auf jeden Fall nicht weiterempfehlen. Service = 0 Da ist selbst der eine Stern zu viel.

This place used to be one of my favourite place to go for local dishes. Unfortunately this time the Flammkuchen was undercooked and the Bratkartoffeln was tasteless. The food came also cold. Ein Besuch in der Brauerei " Goldener Schwan" ist in Aachen so ein Muss ' wie Printen kaufen und den Dom besuchen. Also gleich mal ei kleines Bittburger Pils. Das Service ist wie immer sehr freundlich und für Empfehlungen aus der Küche perfekt geschult. Der Aachner Sauerbraten mit Schwarzbier Sauce , dazu Rotkohl und Kartoffelklöße vom feinsten. Die gebratenen Rippchen mit Hausgemachten Pommes ' dazu Sazerkraut Salat und Saucen , ausreichend und lecker. Aber auch der Fleischkäs mit Spiegeleier & Rösti' oder die Schweins Haxe ! Mhm , lecket! Der Gastgarten direkt am Hauptplatz ein schöners Platzerl zum Verweilen und genießen. Noch ein Hausbrand mit dem Patron runden eine schöne Mittagsrast ab! Servus aus Österreich

Wir waren am Samstag spontan abends hier und hätten an sich gerne drinnen gesessen, weil es draußen langsam schon etwas frisch wurde. Wie zu erwarten, war an einem Samstagabend natürlich drinnen alles ausgebucht, die nette Dame vom Service hat uns aber sehr charmant Decken angeboten, sollte es dann draußen doch zu kalt werden - hat aber alles gepasst, wir sind nicht erfroren :-) Unsere Bestellung wurde dann flott aufgenommen inkl. einer netten Beratung zu den vom Fass verfügbaren Bieren Wir hatten uns für einen der Flammkuchen und den Sauerbraten entschieden. Die Getränke kamen sehr flott (auch eine zweite Runde), aber das Essen ließ dann lange auf sich warten, bis schließlich die Dame vom Service zu uns kam und peinlich berührt zugab, dass es wohl ein Problem mit dem Bondrucker gegeben hätte. War aber kein Problem. Erst mal, weil wir einfach gut saßen, so etwas ja auch mal passieren kann und das Essen dann auch flott auf dem Tisch stand. Sowohl Flammkuchen Nordische Art als auch der Sauerbraten haben dann für die Wartezeit voll und ganz entschädigt. Sehr lecker, gute Portion, schön präsentiert - ganz toll. Fazit: Personal nett und kompetent, Getränke süffig und Essen sehr lecker (den einen Stern Abzug beim Service gibt's dann wirklich nur wegen der Wartezeit, aber das ist Meckern auf höchstem Niveau). P.S.: Wir wollten dann sonntags direkt noch mal hin, um noch andere Dinge von der Karte zu probieren, aber da war dann leider (wohlverdienter) Ruhetag.

Das Brauhaus Goldener Schwan war leider eine große Enttäuschung. Schon beim Betreten des Lokals fiel uns das ungemütliche Ambiente auf. Die Einrichtung wirkte alt und abgenutzt, was nicht gerade zum Verweilen einlud. Leider setzte sich der negative Eindruck auch auf der Toilette fort. Diese war dreckig und es roch unangenehm nach Urin. Das hat den Besuch zusätzlich beeinträchtigt und das Wohlfühlen im Brauhaus stark gemindert. Die Bedienung war ebenfalls enttäuschend. Bei unserer Bestellung wurden mehrere Fehler gemacht und es war offensichtlich, dass die Bedienung nur schlecht Deutsch sprach. Die Kommunikation gestaltete sich schwierig und es war schwer, unsere Wünsche zu äußern. Das Essen war leider genauso enttäuschend wie der Rest des Besuchs. Die Gerichte schmeckten fade und lieblos zubereitet. Die Portionen waren zudem viel zu klein für den überteuerten Preis, den wir bezahlen mussten. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war absolut nicht gerechtfertigt. Alles in allem können wir das Brauhaus Goldener Schwan nicht weiterempfehlen. Das ungemütliche Ambiente, die dreckige Toilette, die schlechte Bedienung und das enttäuschende Essen haben unseren Besuch zu einem negativen Erlebnis gemacht. Es gibt definitiv bessere Alternativen in der Umgebung, die man stattdessen besuchen sollte.

Essen schmeckte nicht und war nicht warm genug. Kellner waren bemüht aber total überfordert mit allem. Auf Getränke musste man lange warten . Der Koch scheint sein Handwerk nicht gelernt zu haben . Flammkuchen der am schnellsten abkühlt wurde zuerst gemacht . Kam dann kalt an den Tisch .Es war mal besser dort.

Traumaussicht und das Essen ist ein Genuss. Eins der wenigen Restaurants, die noch wissen, wie guter Service aussieht. Preise sind mehr als fair und mit dem Restaurantleiter kann man sich gut unterhalten. Gerne wieder.

Ein sehr gemütliches Lokal mit einer schönen Terrasse welche einen direkte Blick auf das Rathausermöglicht. Der Service ist schnell und die Speisen sehr lecker, immer wider einen Besuch wert.

Wir 6 Ladys (4Schwestern/2Schwägerinnen) hatten am 19.08.2023 im gemütlichen Biergarten einen wunderschönen Abend mit leckeren Essen, kühlen Getränken! Der Extra-Wunsch eines besseren Tisches wurde genauso gut umgesetzt wie der gesamte Service! Wir bedanken uns Alle besonders bei dem sehr netten Personal und haben heute wieder die Heimreise ins Saarland, nach NRW, Niedersachsen und Baden Württemberg angetreten! I visited the Goldener Schwan with my extended family this week. So, four adults and two children. We wanted to sit inside, so there was no problem finding a table; no need for a reservation, and there was no wait. My family all had traditional German fare - all of which I would highly recommend based on the comments of my family. This included haxe, sauerbraten, and schnitzels for the kids. I'm vegan, and then chef was able to make me a vegan salad (even though it's not on the menu!). The waiting staff were very polite, happy to give recommendations, and happy to help me with my vegan order. I would definitely go back the next time I am in Aachen.

Perfect location and good food for a sunny afternoon.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal im Brauhaus zum Goldenen Schwan. Die Reservierung für sieben Personen klappte problemlos. Sehr freundliches und kompetentes Servicepersonal, die Qualität der Speisen war gut und lecker. Wir sagen vielen Dank. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Heute dort um Aachener Sauerbraten zu genießen. Lage:top !!!!! Essen langweilig. Zum Essen werde ich dort nicht mehr hinkommen. Für einen Drink natürlich gerne.

Stopped off in Aachen on our way to the Rhineland. Found this place and happy we did. Food is typical German. Good quality and very reasonable price. Had the ribs, delicious. Sat outside, great weather, atmosphere. Highly recommended. All languages spoken Revisited on 26/7.....sadly not as good. My son ordered the herring. He couldn't eat it. Totally saturated in salad sauce. We told the waiter and he asked if we'd like to order something else which we did. When I asked for the bill he came and said €81. Didn't show me any bill !!!was I charged for the herring? I stupidly paid without asking. Sorry but your staff should first give a bill, walk away allow the customer some time to inspect then return for the payment. Very unprofessional.

Came here 1st end of May, good. Yesterday ...not so. Ordered the herring with salad sauce...could not eat it. Totally overpowered with the sauce the waiter could see i gad sn ussue and asked if id like to order sonething else. Which i did. When it came to the bill, the water said €81. Without showing me any bill. My husband stupidly paid without seeing the bill. Was I charged for the inedible herring dish? You should present the bill, walk away and give the customer some time to check the bill then return for the payment. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable. Sorry this time you let us down .
