The ambiance is truly quaint and lovely. The service is okay, albeit a bit chaotic, but I think that will improve. The menu, in my opinion, could be expanded. Some of the food is rather basic, with little to no garnish, which makes it seem uninspired. We were there with our family, and we chose many dishes that were of good quality. However, the side salad was a simple coleslaw, for example, which tasted of nothing and consisted of only one type of lettuce. Overall, I will definitely give the restaurant another chance because it's fundamentally a great location with friendly staff, but they still need some time and fine-tuning, in my opinion. The service is very good, friendly, and attentive. However, the food (roast pork with crackling) leaves much to be desired. The dumplings were far too small, there was very little gravy, and the presentation on the plates was unappealing. The coleslaw was very bland and also served uninspired in a small bowl. The dessert (apple strudel) was good and nicely presented. Overall, the food was of average to good quality. All in all, there's room for improvement. The ambiance is perfect for the traditional inn theme and very well executed. We'll give it another try. Everyone deserves a second chance.

We ate there on Saturday with five people. The goat cheese with bacon and arugula was barely warm. The dumplings weren't cooked through. The chicken was still partially raw inside. While it was initially nice to receive the food after only 15 minutes, it's not good when that comes at the expense of quality. One of the beers we ordered wasn't brought, but two others appeared on the bill. The chicken we complained about was replaced, and we didn't have to pay for the two incorrect beers, but overall, it was only a mediocre experience.

Four of us ate there, two orders of roast pork with dumplings. The meat was tough, so we left three-quarters of the plate. The goulash was okay... we finished it, but nothing special. The chicken breast with ratatouille... the vegetables were inedible, so we left three-quarters of the plate. I visited once and unfortunately won't be back. The menu I saw online two weeks prior was also outdated. Items like sausage salad and Swiss salad were no longer available. It was Saturday at 3:45 pm for our reservation. I wanted a Caipirinha... they were out. They had to check if they still had Hugo; apparently, they sold so much on Friday... it's embarrassing when you can't get anything on Saturday. But we did manage to get some in the end.

Unfortunately, the service was poor. It was disorganized and untrained, with too many mistakes. We were a party of four and ordered four different dishes, none of which were particularly good. After searching for our dishes for a while, three arrived, one of which was missing sides. The fourth dish then had to wait another five minutes. Oh man, that shouldn't happen. We ordered a bottle of wine, which was opened and brought to us, but we were limited to a small portion without even letting us taste it first – it could have been corked, after all. They're clearly still in their infancy. We won't be returning.

I visited the restaurant today with a couple of friends for the second time since its reopening. We were extremely satisfied. The food, service, and atmosphere were all top-notch and highly recommended. But definitely make a reservation.

We were there shortly after the opening weekend on November 5th. We knew the team might not be fully coordinated yet, but we were still curious. :-) The online reservation worked perfectly, and the waiters were friendly but clearly overwhelmed. When we asked if we could change the side dish with our meal, the waiter explained at length that this wasn't possible. He said the kitchen could only cook the dishes exactly as listed on the menu. We tried several times to explain that we didn't want anything different, except that instead of one bread dumpling and one potato dumpling, we'd prefer two bread rolls. He finally left us with the unspoken conclusion that this was absolutely impossible, and then when the plate arrived, it suddenly worked out after all 🧐 Great, but the whole discussion and explanation of why it wasn't possible was completely unnecessary 😂 Well, the sauces on the plates left much to be desired. It was all the same gravy, which was completely running off the waitress's plate at our table because it was far too thin. The latte we ordered turned out to be a black coffee with milk, and we had to argue about it again. It was also disappointing that the menu, which had been heavily advertised on Facebook, was only available in a limited version, consisting of stapled-together, worn, and stained sheets of paper. All in all, the visit was underwhelming, and we hope things will improve once the team has settled in and the initial rush has subsided. Good luck!

We've been to the Velbert Inn three times since it opened. The service was excellent – ​​very friendly and attentive. We felt truly welcome as guests. The food was fantastic (I'm an amateur cook, so I think I can judge). The ambiance is unique. We never experienced long wait times. The prices are great. All in all, every visit has been an unforgettable and wonderful experience. Otherwise, we wouldn't have returned a third time. We're looking forward to more visits and have already made further reservations.

After reading so many negative reviews about the opening of the "Wirtshaus Velbert," we decided to try it out last night: We found a very pleasant atmosphere. After a friendly welcome, we were given a great table (which we had reserved in advance), and the food, drinks, service, and atmosphere in the dining room were all excellent and without any flaws. Food: The goulash soup, rump steak with sides, and fried chicken with potato salad and a side salad were all well-prepared. The dessert and espresso were also good. Beer, wine, and water arrived very quickly after we ordered them. With my second glass of wine, I had the feeling it wasn't the same wine I had already ordered. Without any discussion or comment, a new glass of wine was brought to me (and of course, I wasn't charged). Very fair! I've had different experiences elsewhere. Overall, we had a very enjoyable and harmonious evening, and we really had nothing to complain about. ... Velbert is fortunate to once again enjoy the typical, rustic, and very pleasant atmosphere of the Velbert Inn. We hope that the initial difficulties described are now behind us. Best wishes to the entire team; we will certainly be back.

I had the pork knuckle with dumplings and gravy today. The gravy was a completely oversalted, ready-made sauce. The dumplings were absolutely inedible, and the pork knuckle was completely dry and tough. I was absolutely not impressed! Maybe it will be better next time.

Our reservation couldn't be found even though we received a confirmation via SMS. This wasn't a problem, however, as there was plenty of space. Unfortunately, the food was largely disappointing. The steak and the filet mignon were good. They were cooked to perfection, and the pork wasn't dry. The roast pork was disappointing, as it was served without crackling, and the pork knuckle had inedible crackling that was still leathery. The crackling for the roast was brought out cold. When we pointed this out, we were met with excuses instead of apologies. All in all, a very mixed experience. The service, however, was very friendly and efficient.

We were there on November 6th, 2025, with three people. With the currywurst, you couldn't tell what kind of animal it came from. We suspect it was poultry! The side salad wasn't served with one of our dishes, and the portions of mayonnaise were a joke—more than enough for two or three fries. The server didn't even wait for us to sit down before asking what we wanted to drink, and she clearly didn't have a clue about the menu. When she got the mayonnaise, she simply passed it over my plate to the person next to me. We also thought the place had been renovated, but there were dark stains on the ceiling above our table, haphazardly covered with white cloths—it looked like mold was being concealed. This place won't last long like this.

A true pub experience! The food was outstanding – fresh, delicious, and prepared with love. The service was simply top-notch: friendly, attentive, yet pleasantly unobtrusive (a big shout-out to a wonderful employee in the evening). The pub itself is spacious, cozy, and rustically furnished – exactly what you'd expect from a traditional pub. You immediately feel at home. I'll definitely be back – highly recommended! 🍽️🍺

We went to the inn yesterday; it was very crowded, but it was still very nice.

The food is extremely tasty, fresh and beautifully served. The waiters are very kind, helpful and smiling — to be commended! The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing, ideal for socializing or a family lunch. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants quality food and excellent service.

We were there on November 1st, 2025, for the grand opening with four people, and in summary, I can say it was an organizational disaster. There were long waiting times, the waiters wandered around with plates trying to find the guests, and the food didn't arrive at any of the tables in our section as ordered. The quality was sometimes good, sometimes mediocre, and the prices, especially for drinks, were too high (wheat beer €5.50, cappuccino €4.40 in a half-full cup). The Coca-Cola tasted like Pepsi or something else, in our opinion. The schnitzels were tasty and good, but a salad with salmon as a main course for €16 was the size of a side salad and, on top of that, arrived much too late. The brandy sauce listed on the menu for the rump steak was also missing; we even had to prove that it was indeed on the menu. It's understandable that things don't run perfectly on the first day, but here it seemed as if there had been absolutely no preparation or training for the kitchen and service staff.

The food was cold because the waiters were wandering around aimlessly, trying to find the tables. The cappuccino was far too small. The sauce listed on the menu wasn't available, and no alternative arrived. When we had almost finished our food, they finally asked if we wanted another sauce. The drinks were overpriced, and the Coca-Cola wasn't what was listed on the menu; it was a different brand. The large salad was an outrage – it was so small. Some dishes at our table were completely missing garnishes. The food arrived much too late, which we could have tolerated, but the drinks we ordered didn't arrive for over 45 minutes. They had also completely forgotten the soup we ordered as a starter, even though it was still on the bill. All in all, the evening was completely overpriced for what we received. Things can always go wrong at a new opening, and people are happy to wait a bit longer, but this was truly unacceptable. No one at our table was satisfied. For us, that's probably the end of it.

Hello everyone We'd like to give the restaurant team some brief feedback on our recent meal. (Yes, it was our first day, but we wanted to offer some food for thought.) It wasn't pleasant to hear from the waiter that three dishes on the menu simply weren't available today. When the appetizers arrived, one of the waiters said to my husband, "I don't know what this is. Please tell me, and who gets it?" My husband said it was vitello tonnato, and it was mine. It would have been nice if the waiters knew the dishes and didn't have to explain the difference between a "Schnitzel Wiener Art" and a "Wiener Schnitzel" to the staff. When the main courses arrived, we noticed that three dishes were only lukewarm. Instead of hash browns, the steak came with fries. The sauce was completely missing, and the mushrooms were also only lukewarm. When we pointed this out to the staff, he said, "Just a moment, I'll be right there." The upshot was that the waiter placed a bowl full of gravy in front of us and said he'd just grabbed some random gravy from the kitchen. If the dish was offered with a brandy sauce and green peppercorns, that's what should have been served. Simply handing out some random gravy, which was also unfortunately oversalted, wasn't exactly nice. Overall, we understand that it was the first day... but it was simply unpleasant to see the guests leaving after waiting 2.5 hours without receiving their food. At another table, only one person received their meal; the second person didn't get anything at all. The food was really delicious, I must say... but perhaps you could pay a little more attention to prevent incidents like the one above from happening. We still wish you a good start...

The service deserves only one star, which is already too much. It's impossible to wait over 40 minutes for drinks, the food was cold, and the waiter made a mockery of his guests. Sorry, never again. Everyone had already eaten, and two people were still waiting for food. Table number 162 and they were still sitting and waiting.

I happened to be here for lunch on business. The place was empty, which was a bit odd. The food and service were good, though. There's a large supermarket parking lot right in front of the entrance. I had a delicious schnitzel.

From free parking to delicious food with good value for money to a good atmosphere with always friendly service, everything is perfect.

Were there today with a smaller Essen company. The parking lot belonging to the brewery could be lit! Especially because you have to walk up stairs, it's not nice to walk in the dark. The ambience is very nice, I like it rustic. The service is unique, very nice... but unfortunately the service didn't work optimally. Our row of tables had already eaten before the other side even got their menus. That should be improved.The food was good, tender schnitzel and the other dishes were also good.Unfortunately the beer wasn't great, seemed stale..All carbon dioxide?? I tried light beer and Altbier, but unfortunately both were equally stale, there should be a head of foam. I think these are small things that could be quickly remedied. Then it would be worth 5 stars.

A very nice place to relax with the many loungers by the lake and the outdoor swimming pool, but also decorated in an oriental style inside, you get the impression you are on a short vacation, but also a bit expensive. The food is on the higher end and a massage also costs quite a bit in my opinion. But the pure stay is appropriate for the facilities.

Formerly an old train station, now a very good restaurant with a slightly older flair. It was our first time here and it was for our wedding anniversary. We are very excited and when we entered the restaurant we were met by a very friendly older employee named Michael. He is the 🧡💛piece who welcomed us and served us with a lot of love and kindness.

It simply has to be said that we are long-time guests. Finally the nice waiter has been back at work for months, always smiling and always saying something quick. No matter how much he has to do, he is always friendly and always helpful to his colleagues. He is really one of the better waiters working in Velbert. And of course the food is always great and plentiful. The boss and the older man are also very nice and friendly. But in terms of working technique he is really one of the best we have seen and we have seen a lot of waiters - he is in the top league.

The name says it all: The menus say something about the history of the former train station building, otherwise there is a pure rustic brewery atmosphere with lots of dark, beautiful wood. The outdoor area also invites you to linger and dine. The dishes on the menu fully meet the expectations I expect in a brewery. The portions are generous and the plates are beautifully and elegantly arranged. The service is quick and attentive, drinks and food arrive quickly. You don't normally like to imagine the toilets in a train station. Things are different here at the Brauhaus Alter Bahnhof, the toilets are clean, bright and friendly. In order to avoid trouble with the neighboring discounter, the brewery has put up notices: "Please do not use the discounter's parking spaces during opening times." The brewery has its own parking lot. The path is signposted.

Yesterday the weather was very nice and we sat down outside in the beer garden and the waitress came to our table promptly. Very attentive, very friendly and very accurately dressed. Yesterday was schnitzel day and you can also drink two beers for a small price. We were very satisfied and would love to come back!

We had a lovely afternoon. Food was very tasty and plentiful. Price/performance is right. The small deduction in the ambience is really due to complaining at a high level. Only if you look more closely can you see spots here and there that could be repaired. But everything is clean...and that's what matters. I'll definitely go there again.

I've known the brewery for two years and eat here with my family again and again, just like today. I can only recommend this restaurant. Attentive, very friendly staff, as well as excellent food which has never disappointed me in two years and I have already tried different dishes. Food good and plentiful. Unfortunately, the two gentlemen who served were totally unfriendly. When paying there wasn't even a comment about the tip, just slapped a receipt and didn't even say goodbye. We won't come back here.

Unfortunately, as a Swiss citizen, I was very disappointed. Cold plate of spaetzle from the factory. But the sauerbraten was good the first time I had it (cold afterwards). You could do MUCH MORE from this great restaurant, sorry, I'm not a professional, but it's important to me to write this. A PITY !!!

We have been visiting the brewery with friends for many years and we were warmly welcomed and treated and served in the best possible way. We had a large table with plenty of space for 8 people and sat a little apart so we had some peace and quiet for ourselves. The menu offers wonderful dishes for every taste, there were several dishes with asparagus and everything was of very good quality and taste. I can especially recommend the strawberry cup for dessert; this alone is almost a whole meal. We will definitely come back here.

Schnitzel with beer sauce and fried potatoes with fried egg and fried onions. Schnitzel was tough as a shoe sole, beer sauce took some getting used to, fried potatoes with fried eggs were good and fried onions were mushy and dripping with frying fat. Prices increased while quality decreased at the same time. No comparison to the food six months ago. The negative impression gained was complemented by a rather grumpy waiter. The brewery will no longer be able to welcome me as a guest in the future

Wir waren heute Nachmittag mit der Familie spontan zum Essen da und es war sehr gut. Das Schnitzel mit Biersauce, Röstzwiebeln, Spiegelei und Bratkartoffeln war spitze. Auch beim Eisbecher konnte man nicht meckern.

Anyone who loves good German cuisine is in good hands here. Very friendly staff, large enough portions, cooked with love. It's now my favorite restaurant, which I'm happy to drive 30 minutes to.

You want to go to the regulars' table again and what's going on, the room isn't available. Now 50 people have to go somewhere else to eat and drink at short notice. That was the last time we asked here.

Were there with a group of about 10 people. The ambience is as you would expect from the name, rustic but chic. You may have to wait a little longer for your second drink, as the service seems to be at full capacity even when the store is half full. What doesn't work at all is the unfriendliness of a strong, middle-aged employee who apparently doesn't know anything about please, thank you or other phrases. While you're ordering something from him, you always feel like you're being a nuisance. You can only draw attention to yourself by shouting loudly. The food, on the other hand, is typical brewery style and sumptuous. In this sense, there is nothing wrong with the price-performance ratio.

All in all it is good, we have tried many different dishes and all was ok, when is to crowded it tends to be a little blend. I highly recommend the Gulasch suppe

Der Ort ist sehr schön. Auch für Familienfeiern. Man hat mehrere Räume oder Abteilungen zur Verfügung . Das Essen ist gut, die Karte übersichtlich. Allerdings wird für Veganer und Vegetarier fast nichts angeboten. Das finde ich schade. Nicht jeder mag zum Salat Pommes 🍟 . Die Toiletten sind ebenerdig zugänglich. Barrierefreiheit

Wer hier essen möchte braucht vor allem eines: Hunger. Das Essen passt zum Brauhaus-Thema. Eine rustikale, gutbürgerliche Küche. Die Preise vielleicht ein Tacken zu hoch, aber immer noch akzeptabel. Die Gerichte sind vielfältig, mit ein bisschen Convenience. Ansonsten geschmacklich sehr gut und sehr, sehr reichhaltig. Die Wartezeiten sind verhältnismäßig kurz. Der Service ist hervorragend. Alle sind sehr aufmerksam, trotz moderatem Andrang. Nicht aufdringlich, ein bisschen spaßig. Das Ambiente wirkt ein wenig altbacken. Insgesamt ist es etwas duster und die vielen dunklen Holzbalken und -decken lassen alles etwas gedrungen wirken. Für ein Brauhaus jedoch okay. Insgesamt waren wir an zwei Tagen hintereinander dort und hatten eine angenehme Zeit. Gerne wieder!
