Good Italian cuisine...best location in the Steigerwald, including a playground and animal enclosure...a tip for families.

I think it's a shame that dogs are excluded and not allowed in the restaurant. They're only tolerated in the outdoor area. Therefore, we wouldn't be a guest there.

Everything was right... the food was delicious... the dog was also allowed in. Any time. 👍

I've known the Waldhaus since the 90s and always feel at home here. It's a family atmosphere and people enjoy spending time here. It also speaks for itself that some waiters have been working there for many, many years.

The food is top class! If you go to an Italian restaurant, you should also eat Italian! I don't understand people who go to Italian restaurants and eat something typically German... I don't go to the Chinese restaurant and want dumplings with roulades... I really don't understand the people in the reviews here!! Otherwise, the only thing that makes me a little thoughtful would be the ambience... You could really put some money into the outdoor and indoor areas. Everything is very old. Otherwise everything is good, service, food... Everything is tip top

Great afternoon with very tasty food. The ambience is very nice, even though it was a bit warm in the "glass box". But there is still the more rustic interior and a huge outdoor area for the summer. The food (pork fillet with fried potatoes and cognac cream sauce) was great, praise to the kitchen! I would come back here at any time. Criticism: The service is not very attentive, I miss a regular "check-up" on the guest. We always had to struggle to wave the employee over. Therefore unfortunately 1 star deducted, otherwise it would be 5.

Inn in a beautiful location, very nice service, very good and beautifully prepared food. Free parking is always possible without any problems and the prices are absolutely reasonable. I'd love to come back! 😊

In a former traditional brewery, there is delicious food and good drinks, such as a delicious pizza 🍕 and much more. Highly recommended also for large families. 👍

It was very nice in the Waldhaus again. We made reservations well in advance of Christmas. The Thuringian cuisine left nothing to be desired and it was very pleasant. The home-brewed beer tastes very good! The pizza was also very tasty!

There is a restaurant hidden under the "Waldhaus", which you can use as a destination or as a rest stop after/during a hike, like my family and I did today. Right from the start we were greeted very friendly by the waiters who quickly took us to a free table. The ambience also seemed very pleasant and inviting. My food (pizza with salami and ham) and drink (raspberries) were not only served quickly, but they also tasted excellent. The others thought so too. Overall, the Waldhaus is a place where not only the food tastes very good, but also where very nice employees work. I have no complaints ;).

For many years, our visit to the Erfurt Christmas market has begun with a stop at the Waldhaus. We always reserve in advance because there are always between 10 and 20 people and we like to sit in the winter garden. So far it has worked brilliantly, When we arrived at the restaurant we were always greeted and served in a friendly and courteous manner. We can't complain about the dishes either, they always tasted good and were plentiful.

Delicious food with ambience and nice service

Grill plate: Fried potatoes mushy, bacon (fried potatoes) fried to death, meat ok, a little bit, vegetables overcooked, everything a little floating in oil. According to the person sitting next to me, the noodles were great… unfortunately no photos were taken because I was too hungry…. The advertised bacon was pork belly (with cartilage)… Remember, don't order meat at an Italian restaurant...

Were there with a tour group! No parking spaces for buses (or not wanted)! The bus driver was treated very badly and was told to leave the bus stop immediately! Food, especially pizza, a disaster, not edible. Add too much salt to other foods! Conclusion: never again!! There is better in Erfurt!

The food is tasty, the service is quick and friendly. However, due to the large rooms, it is sometimes very loud.

Food was good and plentiful. The staff is unfriendly, they don't ask you if everything is OK or if you would like something to drink. We were there for over 2 hours and there was no service for about 1.5 hours. When we paid we said that we would have liked something more to drink, but apart from a stupid comment and we could have waved, unfortunately nothing came. Too bad.

Agree with many guests. Great beer garden and good beer. But measly portions and a sausage meat (type: shoe sole) that is absolutely unworthy of Thuringia. Bratel with fries: 12.5o€ Nuggets with fries: €8.5o Please make more of this place.

We always enjoy eating at the brewery restaurant. The food is delicious, the service is polite and friendly, and the price is right. The ambience alone is a bit old in one corner or two and could do with a little makeover.

Beautiful beer garden located on the edge of the forest. Very good food. Good play opportunities for the kiddos. The restaurant is also worth a visit. A wide range of dishes and cozy rooms. You have a very nice view from the winter garden.

Top excursion destination with an adventure character: The historic building with successful extensions and a huge beer garden invites you. The food and the home-brewed beer are convincing. It's always a pleasure to come back here.

There were five of us in the Waldhaus today (11.08.24) and we were extremely disappointed. As I go along I try to be respectful and not insulting, but apart from the ambience it was a non-stop farce! Starting with an annoyed-looking waitress at the table, we worked our way through the very limited selection on the menu. One star goes to my starter, the spiced meat. This was rich and delicious (except for a puddle of oil on top, but that could well be the cheese). But the big hit is still to come. Two of us ordered the brew plate for €26. At this point I recommend taking a seat. The thing arrived and was overflowing with grease. On the plate were cold fried vegetables, completely over-salted, next to a chopped up sausage that couldn't have been more disgusting. For a Thuringian restaurant in the heart of the state, there should be a Thuringian grilled sausage without artistic cutting... Further to the right on the fat plate were two 0.5mm shoe soles, which - of course oversalted - were supposed to be reminiscent of a pork steak. As a topping there was an undercooked piece of cheap bacon with the classic pepper marinade from Kaufland. As a side dish there was a choice between fries and fried potatoes. I chose the latter and found oil-soaked potato slices with no fried or roasted aroma. A decent performance for €26. You first have to be able to offer the customer that much displeasure. Beer was tasty and reasonably priced (0.5l for 4.60€) For us it was the last visit to the Waldhaus. The other four had similar and partly the same problems. For me it was the first time that a plate of food was returned and I was still hungry.

In one word...BAD... I've never eaten so badly. The service is bottom drawer.

Parking okay, service unfriendly and slow. Food came before drinks, but there was no cutlery. The wrong food came. Roulade was dry and tough, the red cabbage only tasted vaguely like red cabbage. The ready-made dumplings were still floury. When I pointed out that I didn't like it, I got the answer: it's just your taste... At the next table there was also the wrong food and at another table the waitress couldn't change, so she just kept everything. No good cuisine, no culinary art or at least cooking skills, we voluntarily won't eat here again!

Just a little snack today. seasoned meat. Cheap in price, no canned meat. In fact, not cheap poultry either. Thumbs up to the kitchen. Even the little things bring joy. And not to forget. Always really friendly service, even when the house is on fire.

In which restaurant do you need to ask for Parmejano? Staff is extremely rude, the ordering process is very confusing and the portions are small for the price. The only reason Im not giving a lower score is because of the kids playground. The rest is pretty much awful. NOT RECOMMENDED

Solid restaurant. When we arrived there was a lot going on. The waitresses were quite stressed and abrupt. Not so nice. We were there after the wave, so it was quieter and everything went quickly and well.

Only had one pizza at the public viewing, which was a bit greasy but tasty. Drinks were freshly tapped and very good.

Food is delivered unequally. The pizza comes 10 minutes later than the other food. Bolognese is too dry. Salmon is too oily. Unfriendly staff.

Antipasti plate wasn't anything special. The seafood flew from the glass to the plate so quickly that the marinade couldn't get in quick enough. The carpaccio was also completely free of spices. I could have bitten a cow in the bottom. For this I had strips of celery, with threads of course, on the plate. 🤔 Maybe they accidentally ended up on my plate and were supposed to go to the petting zoo next door? Nice large beer garden in the shade, with a small playground. Fries and nuggets fried several times in very old, extremely sinking free animal fat. Fries were inedible, bratwurst was good, rolls were overbaked, everything took more than 25 minutes. Drinks also simply filled large cheap cola into glasses. No water bowls for dogs found. For this beautiful beer garden the food and drinks were exceptionally poor. Really a shame 😕

I ate here again after years and I wasn't disappointed. The pizza tasted just as delicious as before. Still a great excursion location. Price-wise also great. Paid just 16 euros for a pizza and a large red soda. Top. Small deduction because of our waitress. A smile would suit her more.

Unfortunately I have to change my rating regarding price/performance. Yes, the food and the ambience are still great. But when it comes to costs, it's not possible. I wouldn't even have a problem with the fact that everything has become more expensive, but I think it's a disgrace to make it expensive and have less on your plate.

Ich war mit Freundinnen zum Abendessen im Waldhaus und bin froh, dass ich mich nicht von den irritierend schlechten Bewertungen hier habe abschrecken lassen. Wir waren zu fünft und fanden Pizza, Fisch, Salat und Vorspeisen einfach nur köstlich. Knuspriger Teig, frischer, perfekt gebratener Fisch und leckere Beilagen. Obwohl das Restaurant sehr gut besucht war, bekamen wir das Essen schon nach kurzer Zeit serviert. Die Bedienung war immer ansprechbar und hat uns nie lange warten lassen. Wir waren alle fünf rundum zufrieden und kommen gerne wieder!

Inedible! The staff is totally unfriendly and leaves while taking the order and talks to other guests. The spaghetti carbonara was way too oily, you had a large oil soup in your plate. Then the cutlery and plates were dirty. It just dropped a lot.

Italian food was okay, delicious pizza and good pasta! You can definitely stop by. In summer there is a beautiful, large beer garden and delicious home-brewed Pils.

You will be turned away over the phone. We wanted to order a table for kindergarten children and have an offer. Was rudely rejected and the parents should take care of it no matter how much it costs. No heart for children.

We were at the Waldhaus again on Saturday after a long time and unfortunately I have to say that it was probably the last time. The staff in the restaurant were so unfriendly and annoyed that we went into the self-service outside area. But it wasn't much better. Pizza overpriced and half burnt and the wine undrinkable. It's a shame, it was really fun to eat at the Waldhaus.

Whether as a hiking destination or “just” for a meal, the Waldhaus is always worth a stop.
