Brasserie Engel – Restaurant & Café in Offenburg

Sandra and Stefan provided excellent service... the food was very good... I highly recommend it!

This was our first time here, and we highly recommend it. We received a friendly welcome and hadn't made a reservation, which wasn't a problem at all. However, it's worth noting that it was around 5 pm, so if you arrive later, it's better to make a reservation. The food was very good, the service was super friendly, and the atmosphere is excellent. If we come back to this area, we will definitely go to Brasserie Engel again.

It had been a long time since we'd been there, but it was disappointing. The soup was hot, but the bread the server offered with it seemed to have been forgotten again, as it never arrived. The cordon bleu was only lukewarm. When they cleared the table, I mentioned that I'd look at the dessert menu again. Then nobody came for 45 minutes. Our glasses had also been empty for over 30 minutes, so we decided to get up and pay at the counter since nobody was coming to our table. We ended up getting dessert on the way from Rewe. What a shame.

Great place to bring your family and friends or colleagues for a great traditional food and delicious beers great service recommended for your time in the town Offenburg or passing by it is worth the detour.

Brasserie Engel is located in the pedestrian zone of Offenburg and impresses with its lovely ambiance and very attentive service (Stefan). My wife ordered the steak medium-rare and received it medium, hence the slight deduction in the rating, but since the meat was very tender, this wasn't a major issue. I had the Black Forest-style rösti, as I wanted to try something regional. The sausage (beef?) was unfortunately a bit dry and not very easy to cut, but since my wife didn't need her steak knife, this wasn't a problem. Alternatively, you can simply ask for one; Stefan from the front of house is very helpful. The dessert, the warm chocolate tart with vanilla ice cream, was absolutely delicious. Taste-wise, there was nothing to complain about. The parking situation is somewhat difficult for people with mobility impairments, and access to the restaurant is less than ideal, though not impossible, but challenging for wheelchair users. Nevertheless, we can wholeheartedly recommend the brasserie, also because of the good beer and the excellent wine list.

We visited Brasserie Engel again today, and as always, it was incredibly cozy and pleasant. The food was top-notch. The brasserie stays true to its style and impresses with excellent Spätzle dishes and delicious Flammkuchen.

My wife was looking for a good restaurant with good German cuisine and found this one. As soon as we walked in, the waitress gave us a very warm welcome. There was such a wide selection of different German dishes. I chose the pork tenderloin with chanterelle mushrooms and Spätzle. I have rarely eaten such good pork tenderloin as I did there. The atmosphere is cozy and you feel very welcome. We will definitely come back!

When my husband and I arrived, we received a very warm welcome. The service was very friendly and attentive. My husband ordered the Schnitzel Madagascar with a side of lamb's lettuce. He was more than satisfied with it, and I had the Rösti with a small garden salad. The Rösti was delicious, cooked perfectly, and crispy. We'll be back and are already looking forward to it. Highly recommended! Excellent value for money!

We spontaneously stopped by for lunch. It's a very nice and cozy place, where you feel at home. Attentive and friendly service. We didn't have to wait long for drinks and food. The value for money is also excellent. The food was good, and the portions were plentiful.

We had such a warm welcome from the lovely team at Brasserie Engel — friendly, relaxed, and really kind. Great choice of beers and a really good local red wine. The Schnitzel Madagascar was excellent, full of flavour and perfectly cooked. We’ll definitely be back soon — the apple strudel is next on the list!

Simply amazing! The waiter (Hani) is super friendly, always smiling, which makes the experience even more enjoyable! The food is also delicious. We tried the pumpkin soup and potato soup, both of which were delicious, and we also got really delicious soft bread to go with it. No long waits. Highly recommended!

Typical German restaurant with very local dishes. The servers make an effort to communicate with foreigners, which is very good. The dishes are decent, but nothing special, the service is efficient, and the restaurant is air-conditioned. Please note that the dining room is not accessible to people with reduced mobility using a trolley.

During our short stay in Offenburg (while changing from train A to train B), we were drawn to Engels by the positive reviews. The service was friendly and courteous, the atmosphere totally relaxed, and the food truly delicious! The experience was topped off by the wonderful and extremely delicious ice cream we treated ourselves to for dessert. If the journey weren't so far, we would definitely return regularly 😋

We stopped here based on the online menu, and our expectations were exceeded. We had rösti with salmon, pancake soup, and schnitzel – everything was delicious. And the friendly, unobtrusive service – fantastic! The ambiance was also very inviting. Thank you :)

We had a delicious hot potato soup and a chicken salad, respectively. The restaurant was very busy at the time of our visit, so the service was a bit overwhelmed at times. An ordered espresso wasn't delivered until we pointed out, upon receiving the bill, that it was listed on the bill, that we hadn't received it yet.

If you want delicious steak and schnitzel, this is the place to be. We really enjoyed the delicious food here, and I definitely recommend it. Because it was incredibly busy, we noticed the service was a bit slow. Not a problem for us, though, because the food was very good.

Very good local cuisine, rosti and tarte flambée are very good. Service can be a little slow, but there are a lot of people. A lovely setting, a little noisy, which is normal on a Saturday.

Nice brasserie. The menu is typical of a classic brewery restaurant. The portions are generous, the taste is absolutely fine, and the service is customer-oriented. However, in my opinion, the place has much more potential.

The mushroom and chicken spaetzle is truly delicious. The sauce is amazing. I loved it, and it was well served. I'll be back just for this dish.

We ate Gordon Blue and schnitzel. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either, so the price/performance ratio was a bit high. The service seemed overwhelmed; my request for ketchup was forgotten after 10 seconds. I then got it at the counter, and in my opinion, the service was unfriendly.

At the reception we had to wait 10 minutes for our table to be cleaned even though we had reserved. The floor was dirty, but the atmosphere was still warm, the interior is pretty. You still have to count on a 45 minute wait and not be in a hurry but the food was very good and not very expensive.

We were driving around on the German French border looking for dine and we found brasserie engel on Google . The food and beer were excellent. The Ketterer Edel beer was excellent. So was the Rosti Schartzwalder Art!!!

Ordered the creamy mushroom spaetzle. Very generous portions! Had Edel beer, was the best I’ve ever had. Would highly recommend!

Delicious German food! My wife's cordon bleu, however, wasn't cooked through! But it was promptly replaced with a new one. Hence the 3 stars for the food.

This was an amazing discovery during our short trip to Offenburg. We had dinner there on two consecutive nights, and both meals were superb. Fully recommended!

Highly recommended. Despite a large crowd, the accommodating hostess made a table reservation possible at short notice, and the food (in our case, spaetzle pan with pork medallions and homemade spaetzle) was customized and truly delicious. Super friendly staff and excellent cuisine.

We had dinner here as a group of four: three orders of sausage salad and one of tarte flambée. Unfortunately, a lot of patience was required, whether it was placing the order, receiving the food, or paying. The food was okay, but I wouldn't come back.

We really enjoyed the food and it is different from the usual German places that offer lots and lots of meat. The place is very nice only the service was very very slow. I recommend it.

Only complain though that after I was done with my Spätzle, no-one came to take my order for dessert. I waited for almost 45 mins and it was quite odd as everybody was walking in front of me. Unfortunately, during our visit to this very nice restaurant, they didn't have any tarte flambée, which is supposed to be so delicious. This wasn't mentioned anywhere, not even on the daily specials. My salad was beautifully presented. However, for that price, I would have expected fresh herbs and bread. It tasted good, but for a very good rating, something was lacking in terms of flavor and content.
