Today we picked up a doner kebab, a durum, and a small fries. We got a doner kebab that was completely dry, with sauce and doner meat on one side. It was a cold durum that immediately fell apart and was more like a wrap. The fries were okay. For the money they charge these days, we expect to get both the doner kebab and the durum as usual, and not something like this. Very annoying.

The food was good, but an employee made a very disrespectful comment when I tried to pay. I didn't have any cash and wanted to pay by card. He said it was only possible if I had a certain amount. I then explained that I didn't have any cash, and he told me to go wash the dishes instead. It was a joke, but sometimes boundaries are really crossed. I found it completely inappropriate and was unfortunately silenced by the lack of distance. So I couldn't respond quickly. That's completely unacceptable. Service and friendliness, 0 points.

Depending on the order, the meal is served in three courses. The staff seems a bit temperamental, but also interested in the general well-being of the customer. In my opinion, the Bosporus restaurant is a pioneer of Turkish cuisine in Essen and therefore definitely worth a visit.

I've eaten at Bosporus several times. Most recently, I ordered a lamb skewer with fries. For starters, I received a small plate of salad and dressing. There was also a small bread basket with toasted pita bread and three sauces: tzatziki, garlic, and a spicy sauce. All sauces were homemade. The highlight was, of course, the lamb skewer. It came in a delicious marinade, and the meat was very tender. The fries were crispy, and overall, I was very satisfied with my meal. I can also recommend the chai I ordered with it. The portion was generous, and I was filling. It should be noted that card payments are apparently not encouraged, but are still possible. The prices are in the higher segment compared to other Turkish restaurants. As for the service, I found the waitresses to be just okay overall. They performed their duties well, but seemed a bit passive-aggressive in some situations. The restaurant is divided into two areas: a snack bar and a restaurant. The snack bar functions as a traditional kebab shop. The restaurant area has its own menu. Eating food from the snack bar menu in the restaurant area is not permitted. The restaurant area is, of course, much more stylish and cleaner than the snack bar. There's also an outdoor terrace in the summer. All in all, Bosporus is one of the better addresses in Essen when it comes to Turkish cuisine.

Wow, the service was very friendly, and as soon as you walked in, you were given your menu. You also get free bread with delicious dips. When the food arrived, a pot of dry ice was placed on the table, and dry ice smoke billowed out. It was a very exciting and enjoyable experience.

The gentleman who served us was really very friendly to us. We received our drinks and our food quite quickly. The food was very tasty and, above all, very attractively prepared. Today, my wife and I entered because it was on the road, we regretted that we entered, we were going to get up, unfortunately they brought the appetizers, we said no cheese pita, no spinach pita, no minced meat pita. Anyway, my wife told us that she came to Adana, there is neither bread nor lavash with it, I asked the waiter for lavash, the answer was that we don't normally serve lavash on the side. We're almost done, this is not the place to go, I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone anyway.

The food is healthy and delicious. Prices are affordable. A friendly and friendly service is offered. I recommend the meat soup (kelle paça) and lamb shish kebab. Unfortunately, the employees seem very listless and not really friendly. We ordered a kebab plate which was a disgrace in terms of price alone (€15.50) and also tasted very bad. We asked several times what meat it was since we don't eat chicken/turkey and were assured that it was veal. When we looked at the meat we immediately realized that it was definitely NOT veal. After asking 3 times they only admitted that it wasn't a veal but a turkey. As a restaurateur, lying to your customers like that is not possible at all! Chicken skewer was also not cooked properly and not tasty at all. If we hadn't been hungry we would have preferred to leave it alone. We will definitely never go here again.

The food wasn't good at all, as everyone said. Afterwards I had a severe stomach ache. Service with a woman who seemed likeable at the beginning but became very unfriendly towards the end because she made a mistake and couldn't accept it. Don't respond to the customers and didn't even want to exchange the food, which was wrong. Any normal restaurant would have done this. Not recommended!

Great food! Çok güzel! Had a lovely dinner here in the restaurant (be sure to enter the right door, or you'll be in the take-out part of this place, there's a more cozy part around the corner). Dinner was very nice. All real and authentic Turkish food. The sigara böreği was excellent and I wish we had more dolma... Next time I'll try the İmam bayıldı. We came in quite late, and were the last to go, but we had a lovely chat with the very friendly staff (in German, English and Turkish). Teşekkür ederim!

Food in the restaurant is actually delicious. The snack bar next door is served from the same kitchen and tastes the same. However, card payment is only possible if you order in a restaurant. (But then paid at the snack bar counter using the card machine). When ordering at the snack bar at this counter with a view of this device, only cash payment is possible. 1 out of 5 tax office stars.

Great cuisine, more of a restaurant than a kebab shop. Adana Kebab was fantastic, I'm someone who likes to add spices, but this wasn't necessary here. Even the fries are very seasoned. Of course, the meat is also great and fried to about medium rare and therefore still very fluffy. Atmosphere is a bit hectic due to a larger intersection in front of the door. For this reason, the garden doesn't have the most relaxed vibes. There is enough parking nearby in the evening. Things can get tricky during the day. Absolutely recommended.

One of the freshest and tastiest kebabs I've had.

Wir waren gestern mal wieder im Bosporus am Stadtwaldplatz in Essen essen. An der Qualität der Vorspeisen und des Hauptgerichts gab es wie bei allen Besuchen zuvor nichts auszusetzen, sehr lecker. Der Service war wie immer ebenfalls sehr gut, kurze Wartezeiten und sehr freundlich. Was den positiven Eindruck allerdings erheblich getrübt hat, ist die Entwicklung der Preise über die letzten Jahre. Ende 2021 kostete das Lammkotlett mit Salat und Pommes 14,90 €. Laut Homepage beträgt der Preis 18,50 €, tatsächlich liegt er jetzt bei 21,50 €. Der scharfe Hackspieß mit Salat und Pommes kostete 2021 noch 12,50 €, laut Homepage 17,50 €, tatsächlich aber jetzt 19,50 €. Die Preise sind seit 2021 also um ca. 35-40% gestiegen. Ein Weißbier für 5 € und ein Raki für 5 € sind auch nicht günstig. Mein Gehalt ist in den letzten drei Jahren nicht um 40% gestiegen. Fazit: qualitativ wirklich gut, den Peis ist es aber nicht mehr wert

We picked up kebab today. The kebabs tasted very good. But we can't understand why the prices on the homepage aren't even updated. They are totally outdated and are now significantly higher.

Inspection by food inspectors on April 29, 2024 The shelves in the cold room were contaminated with black, greasy deposits in numerous places. The evaporator and the evaporator protection grille were contaminated with mold deposits in numerous places. The ceiling lamp socket was dirty and partly contaminated with mold deposits. Numerous foods (e.g. minced skewers, kebab meat, etc.) were not stored covered. In the preparation room, the meat grinder and the associated parts were contaminated with old product deposits in numerous places. On the window sill behind the double sink, a plastic bottle of hand disinfectant was dirty on the outside and contaminated with dead flying insects. There were empty Coke crates between the freezer and the refrigerator. In one of the boxes, liver appeared to be stored in a plastic bowl in a plastic bag. The electric vegetable grater was dirty in the handle area (lever). The walls were contaminated with used grease condensate in numerous places. Numerous hand contact surfaces such as light switches and doors in the handle area were dirty. There was a risk of the food being adversely affected by the lack of operational and personal hygiene. A company closure, basic cleaning of all company premises and disposal of open food were ordered on site. Status of the elimination of defects: On the evening of April 29, 2024, the company closure was lifted after the company premises had been adequately cleaned. Really great, exceptional food! The (separate) mix of snack bar and restaurant is particularly successful. Depending on how much time and leisure you have. The grilled dishes are prepared on charcoal (a difference you can really taste!) and everything is particularly delicious. Unfortunately I have to revise my review significantly downwards. €21 for 2 kebabs and a large fries. Everything has its limits and for us they have been exceeded here.
