Bornholmer Hütte in Berlin

A genuine old Berlin and East German pub with all the charm that entails, wonderfully located right in the heart of Bornholmer Straße, not far from Schönhauser Straße. Thankfully, the furnishings haven't changed in decades; everything is authentic. The service is expert and friendly, but there's only one drawback: the beer prices are more like a restaurant's, not a pub's – simply too expensive. That's never good for a landlord! People drink far less and hold onto their glasses longer. Cheaper pubs do better; people drink more, and ultimately, their revenue is higher... Otherwise: Hang in there!

Fantastic! A charming old pub where people from all walks of life still mingle. Moderate prices and two bowling lanes in the basement. Amazing! Cozy! The service was very attentive and quick. Thank you!

We (a small group) were there on a Saturday during opening hours. CLOSED!!! No information at all!!! (Note on the door) 😡

The best pub in the world! For 110 years. Over 70 of those years have been family-run, and it's remained unchanged since the 1970s (apart from the flat-screen TV...).

This is still an original Berlin pub with charm and character. With its historic bowling alley in the basement and its friendly barman, it's definitely an important part of local culture.

If you're into football, then this is it. A real Berlin atmosphere, fast service, pleasant guests. Unfortunately, the kitchen is always closed, if I understood correctly? It's a shame, the Berlin cuisine here was excellent. But last time we were there, we were allowed to bring our own food.

This is what I imagine a Berlin pub to be like: a friendly owner, a rustic setting. You can sit outside on small beer benches; highly recommended.

The prices here are still very good, and you're practically sitting in a museum. The staff is quick and friendly.

I am writing this review from the perspective of a tourist. Bornholmer Hütte is your classic, no-frills German bar where the regulars feel like family. Most nights, I was the sole foreigner there, but they treated me like one of their own :) Matthias, the owner and beer guardian angel, always kept my glass full, and to his credit, didn’t flinch at my painfully broken German. If you're planning a visit as a tourist, just brush up on your basic German and show up with an open heart (and a thirsty one). Trust me, you’ll leave with more than just a buzz. Keep in mind that this is a smoking bar.

Their Fassbrause beer might be the best I had in Berlin.

The most authentic site I visited in Berlin. I was lucky enough to be invited to play a game of bowling. Both the bar and the bowling alley a 10.

Surprisingly good! Went in here after we've lived nearby for almost a year. We expected a smoky bar with a few sprits hanging around the bar. The reality looks completely different. The audience is very mixed, but younger than expected, open and friendly. It's still smoky though. We'll definitely come back more often.

So the pub is Ur-Berlin. You can smoke in it and have done so for 100 years. That's also part of the charm. I am a non-smoker and it doesn't bother me as the ceiling height is extreme. There is no food or snacks at Matthias, you should know that.

Went to the Bornholmer Hut for the first time yesterday and had great fun. There you don't go into the basement to laugh, you go bowling. We reserved again immediately when we paid. A thousand thanks also to Matthias. You can tell that he is passionate about his job.

I'm not a football fan and I don't drink beer, but I succumb to the charm of the Bornholmer Hütte! A really honest pub for over a hundred years and it's a shame I only found my way here after 30 years of living around the corner. Clean drinks, decent prices and honest people. I'll be back!

Historic smoking bar on Bornholmer with a stunning interior and bowling alley in the basement. Very comfortable, both inside and outside. The service and the audience are very pleasant and authentically Berlin.

In der Bornholmer Hütte wird man nach seinem Vornamen gefragt und behandelt wie ein alter Freund. Wenn ich in der Nähe wohnen würde, wäre das meine Stammkneipe.

Essen gab es keins. Aber eine UrBerliner Kneipe mit Kegelbahn im Keller, hohen Räumen, alten Lampen u.u.u. So war im letzten Jahrhundert die Trinkkultur in Berlin. Sehr lohnenswert.

Herrlich, so geht man gerne Bier trinken. Ambiente Bier und Preis unschlagbar. Nur ein offenes Fenster fehlte. Selbst Räuchern brennen dort die Augen.

Hier ist die Zeit stehend geblieben. Das ist die Definition einer Altberliner Kneipe. Der Wirt ist so authentisch wie die Einrichtung.

Urige Kneipe mit gemischten Publikum. Das macht es ja so COOL vor Ort. Nette Bedienung die Spass hat bei ihrem Job. Heute nicht mehr so selbstverständlich. TOP!!!

Diese über Generationen liebevoll geführte gastronomische Institution hat nichts an Charme verloren seitdem ich sie gestern nach 33 Jahren zum ersten Mal wieder besuchte...!Unbedingt empfehlenswert...!!!

Willkommen auf der Zeitreise in die 1920er. Raucherkneipe mit denkmalgeschütztem Interieur, Kegelbahn im Keller (Monate im voraus ausgebucht) und engagierten Pächtern.

Eine echte Berliner Kneipe, so wie man es mag.

Super freundliche Bedienung. Das Kegel machte riesen Spaß und danke für die schnelle und heufige Anfrage nach Getränken. Absolut empfehlenswert. 😊

Wenn man in diese Gaststätte hinein tritt, denkt man hier ist die Zeit stehen geblieben. Nostalgisch erinnert alles an die Vergangenheit,, DDR''. Bedienung schnell und nett im Innen und Außenbereich. Das einzige Manko, es gibt keine Speisekarte.

Schöner uriger Laden. Hier fühlt sich alles noch nach Berlin an. Das Publikum ist komplett bunt gemischt und die Preise total in Ordnung. Der Service ist schnell, lustig und sehr freundlich. Hier geht man einfach gerne hin.
