🌅 Ambience The ambiance at the Bootshaus Mainz is simply fantastic – especially in good weather. You sit right by the water, enjoy a great view, and enjoy a very pleasant atmosphere. A place to feel good! 🤝 Service The service is very friendly and attentive. We did have to wait a bit longer during our visit, which is a slight deduction, but overall the impression was very positive and courteous. 🍽️ Food The food was consistently excellent – ​​absolutely top-notch in terms of quality, taste, and preparation. This restaurant clearly deserves 5 stars. You can tell that the cooking is done with love and skill. 💰 Value for Money The Bootshaus is on the higher end of the price range, but considering the high quality, it's absolutely fairly priced. If you're looking for good food in a great atmosphere, you definitely can't go wrong here. ✅ Conclusion An all-round successful visit – great food, great atmosphere, friendly service. Yesterday we were guests at the Boathouse, and the food was truly delicious and very good. Our main waiter (Joshua) was also fantastic, very attentive, very helpful, especially with our little daughter who was with us, and just incredibly personable (he gave him a 5/5 rating for service). The evening could have been truly perfect if one of the waiters hadn't made a really negative impression after handing out the menus by saying to my wife, "Well, you probably didn't understand anything anyway." I absolutely don't understand, and I still don't understand, where that came from or why that sentence was said, but some of the people there definitely need to work on their people skills!

We were looking forward to this restaurant because we had already enjoyed dinner with Frank Buchholz at his cooking school. The atmosphere is fantastic. Unfortunately, the food wasn't as creative or as good as it was at the school. The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The only downside was that the chairs scraped loudly against the floor whenever someone stood up. It was uncomfortable. We'll be back anyway.

During a bike ride we happened to drive past the boathouse and spontaneously decided to stop for a cold drink. When we looked at the menu we couldn't resist. We enjoyed a delicious lunch of Raviolini Plin and Vitello Tonnato. 😋 The service was very attentive, the boss, Frank Buchholz, worked diligently outside and inside to make sure everything was in order. It was only later that we realized that he was known as a TV chef. All I can say is that we would love to come back for such fine food. 😀

Our visit to the boathouse was wonderful from A to Z. Very attentive, courteous and extremely friendly service. Great view of the winter harbor, the Rhine and the Mainz cathedral silhouette in a deeply relaxed atmosphere. Drinks (Aperol Spritz and French sparkling wine) are perfectly served in highly polished matching glasses, just like in the star restaurant. The careful eye on the details makes the music here. Great, nutty Gillardeau oysters for starters!! And a well-prepared Breton Moules & Frites main course with large mussels in fresh, millimeter-cut, intense Mirepoix vegetable stock and with crispy, perfectly fried French fries - almost like in Normandy! Everything is extremely clean and pleasantly elegant. A little short break from everyday life that we will look for more often in the future. Thanks to the Bootshaus team!

A spontaneous visit resulted in a guest experience in the “underground” category: a busy afternoon on one of the first warm days of spring. I stand with my dog ​​as the second person waiting in front of the barrier, behind which the hopeful guest enters the area where they will be served. After about 3 minutes it's my turn. The US-style placement craze that has been introduced on a mass scale in Germany with Corona puts the guest in this country in the position of supplicant. While in the USA the guests in restaurants in this price category are treated extremely courteously and friendly, people looked at me with a silent question. Well, what will she want, the lady with the dog (to paraphrase Chekhov)? Certainly not begging the guests or doing any other impropriety! After I expressed my request to the stern "gentlemen", he said everything was reserved (inside there was only a maximum of 100 percent occupied, outside there would definitely have been room for one person for 30 minutes - I didn't dare bother the "gentlemen" with my presence and my cash any longer anyway. Without any friendliness or a tone of regret, I was left standing. Thirsty, I turned to the hearty tables that are in the outside area opposite the self-service bar. As soon as I was sitting there, a waiter shot up to me and reprimanded me: "The colleague just told you..." A short discussion ensued in which I had to fight to be allowed to get a cappuccino myself! At the counter, I noticed to the waiter that, given how overwhelmed I was, I didn't want to stress her out by asking for lactose-free milk. His short answer was: "Hamm, who doesn't anyway? 7 euros with a deposit"!! I was made to wait for the change. Please and/or thank you did not appear in the vocabulary of the "service" staff. At the beginning of the Bootshaus's history, we ate here several times (including with business partners) - there was always a noticeable price-performance discrepancy - but today's appearance has finally outclassed the restaurant as the cheering hut of the Mainz parvenus.

Food was globally good but way too expensive for the quality. At this price we expected a higher level and got disappointed. Mainly for the 14€ dessert we did not even finish.as.the rum cream was highly questionable and wasting the rest of the apple pie.

Beautiful location, but unfortunately that’s it. The service left a lot to be desired - unfriendly, inattentive and without any appreciation for the guest. Empty glasses went unnoticed and there were no questions about food. Also disappointing from a culinary point of view: a braised beef shoulder that was dry and not very edible, and a fish dish that had both bones and a rubbery consistency. Given the prices and the standard of the house, we expected much more. Too bad!

When politely asked whether additional bread could be served, the response was condescending, “That costs money for us.” Although the taste of the food was convincing, the portions were clearly too small. Very nice location with a great view. Unfortunately, that was pretty much it. Were there at 6 p.m. and were initially greeted with the fact that three dishes from the not-too-large menu were no longer available. After a bit of a wait, starters were gradually served over 20 minutes. Otherwise, we found the dishes to be significantly overpriced and sometimes served very carelessly for the high prices (sea bream for 2 people: €80!! On the plate there was a fillet without anything - see photo (to be fair, it tasted good) and a small bowl with 4 very small potatoes and a very small bowl with some sauce, which you then had to share). The raviolini also caused a lot of irritation. Atypical recipe and a mini portion. Overall, it's a shame.

Culinary excursion destination at the winter harbor The Bootshaus restaurant in the Mainz Rowing Club building is run by Frank Buchholz. Since the closure of the star restaurant in downtown Mainz, his sous chef has been cooking in the boat house. The kitchen offers a small selection of well-known kitchen classics and creative dishes, which are prepared with the best product quality and a high level of culinary craftsmanship. In the winter months, the terrace restaurant on the Victor-Hugo-Ufer directly on the Rhine and at the marina offers a warm, cozy dining room. The service is exceptionally attentive and friendly - we immediately felt at home. You should definitely try the bread basket with olive oil and spreads for an incredible 3 euros. The bread comes from Gonsenheim cult baker and bread sommelier Mario Peter Berg, who developed an incredibly delicious bread together with Frank Buchholz. It's nice that you can also buy it pre-baked so that you can enjoy it freshly baked and crispy at home. The tuna sashimi was perfect and clearly gourmet quality. My beef roulade on nut butter mashed potatoes and carrot vegetables was wonderful soul food. Housewife cuisine 2.0: A dish that has been familiar since childhood, prepared at a star level. The tender beef and the sensationally aromatic sauce were a dream - for me the perfect meal for a cold winter evening. For us, the visit to the boathouse was a culinary feel-good experience. Here the ambience, service and cuisine complement each other perfectly.

It's been a few weeks since our visit and I've been struggling to find the right descriptive words ever since. A beautifully decorated restaurant; Located directly on the Rhine...certainly even more beautiful in summer. The reputation of the operator and the menu fuel the hope of a successful visit. One can expect that from a former star chef the simpler dishes on offer have a certain kick that elevates them above the usual level. As a reference, I have in mind the grape in Meddersheim (which has now changed ownership). What happens next can be summarized as follows: There is a lack of love! The food is delivered at a rapid pace, making for a relaxing evening. The food is only of an average standard, which has no correlation to the price charged. Only the cream of porcini mushroom soup showed that you definitely have what it takes to do more. You would be prosecuted in Belgium for the fries with the mussels. Overall, we didn't feel welcomed by either the service or the kitchen, which I regret. Everyone is blessed to have a happy time there, but we will save ourselves a 100km journey in the future. There's just a lack of love

The inviting and tasteful ambience was very, very beautifully and attractively decorated for Christmas. The food was a show for us! All the dishes we ordered were consistently excellent, tasted at a top level, presented to the eye and no overloaded plates! The service was very attentive and very friendly. And last but not least: a super friendly and down-to-earth host who came to the tables, exchanged words and, if requested, was happy to take a photo together! Die Küche bietet eine kleine Auswahl an bekannten Küchenklassikern und kreativen Gerichten, die auf bester Produktqualität und küchenhandwerklich hohem Niveau zubereitet werden. In den Wintermonaten bietet das Terrassenrestaurant am Victor-Hugo-Ufer direkt am Rhein und am Yachthafen einen warm-gemütlichen Gastraum. Der Service ist außergewöhnlich aufmerksam und freundlich - wir haben uns sofort wohl gefühlt. Unbedingt probieren sollten Sie den Brotkorb mit Olivenöl und Aufstrichen für unglaubliche 3 Euro. Das Brot stammt vom Gonsenheimer Kultbäcker und Brotsommelier Mario Peter Berg, der zusammen mit Frank Buchholz ein unglaublich leckeres Brot entwickelt hat. Schön, daß man es auch vorgebacken kaufen kann um es dann zuhause knusprig frisch aufgebacken zu genießen. Das Thunfisch-Sashimi war perfekt und hatte eindeutig Gourmetqualität. Meine Rinderroulade auf Nussbutter-Kartoffelpüree und Karottengemüse war wunderbares Soulfood. Hausfrauenküche 2.0: Ein seit Kindheitstagen vertrautes Gericht auf Sterneniveau zubereitet. Das zarte Rindfleisch und die sensationell aromatische Soße waren ein Traum - für mich das perfekte Essen für einen kalten Winterabend. Für uns war der Besuch im Bootshaus ein ein kulinarisches Wohlfühl-Erlebnis. Hier ergänzen sich Ambiente,Service und Küche perfekt.

Wir waren geschäftlich zu Besuch im Bootshaus Mainz. Die großartige Lage direkt am Rhein mit Blick auf den Winterhafen sorgt für eine entspannte und angenehme Atmosphäre. Im Sommer kann man dort toll an Tischen draußen direkt am Wasser sitzen. Die Speisen sind köstlich und das freundliche sowie sehr aufmerksame Personal sorgt dafür, dass man sich rundum wohlfühlt. Ein Besuch im Bootshaus ist definitiv eine Empfehlung für jeden, der gutes Essen mit einer aufregenden Aussicht genießen möchte.

Naja, hätte man besser machen können. Schnellabfertigung (Aperitif, Vorspeise, Hauptspeise) unter einer Stunde - spricht nicht für gute Gastlichkeit. Personal sehr bemüht, was sich in der ständigen Unterbrechung unserer Unterhaltungen äussert. Amuse-Gueule Fehlanzeige. Vorspeise meines Mannes (Steinpilzsuppe) war sehr gut. Bei meiner Vorspeise (Burrata) habe ich den Ruccola abbestellt. Hat funktioniert, allerdings recht lieblos (aufgeschnittene Tomaten und Burrata, ohne Gewürz oder Deko auf einem wackelnden Teller serviert). Pfeffer, Salz und Öl dazu auf den Tisch gestellt. Hauptspeise ebenfalls lieblos serviert, geschmacklich ok, aber nichts Besonderes. Mein Mann hatte Moules frites, Muscheln geschmacklich ok, es gab Tiefkühlpommes dazu. Espresso lauwarm, noch. nicht mal ein kleiner Keks dazu Unsere Erwartung an gehobene Gastlichkeit zu diesen Preisen ist deutlich anders. Für zusammen EUR 120,00 kann ich woanders wesentlich besser, geschmackvoller und schöner angerichtet essen.

We spontaneously went there for dinner today. The ambience was really nice, nothing can be said. The service was okay. The food wasn't justified for the price. A simple currywurst with fries €18 Porcini cream soup 16€ Happily. But the crowning glory was the toilet. You have to use the ones from the rowing association. This toilet was just dirty. In the truest sense of the word, shit was hanging on the lid. The wastebasket by the sink overflowed and there was paper everywhere. I then asked who was responsible for the toilets. I was told by the rowing association. So if I ran a place like that with prices like that, I would check the toilets every morning and evening. Other than that, it's a general thing to do.

Das Ambiente ist sehr angenehm, tolle Ausstattung. Unser Service von Joshua war einfach super und hat uns begeistert. Die Getränke kemen zügig und wurden richtig serviert, Speisen waren lecker endlich ein mal Steak richtig medium rear gebraten. Dazu noch Sensationell zart! Ich würde aber ein bisschen mehr Fenchel Gemüse zum Lachs anrichten. Hier dreht sich alles um Qualitat mit richtigem Service Gedanken dabei, etwas tolles anzubieten für die Gäste. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall gerne wieder!

Der Service war super, essen war sehr gut. Was uns gefehlt hat war das man eigentlich nur Salat und Suppe für Veganer hatte.., die Pasta waren sogar auch leider mit Fleisch .. da könnte man zumindest etwas verbessern. Ansonsten im Vergleich vor 2 Jahren .. es hat sich zum positiven entwickelt.. denn vor 2 Jahren waren wir da nicht so zufrieden und sind nicht mehr hingegangen. Jetzt werden wir aber wieder häufiger hingehen.

We were there with a small party. Nice ambience, tasty food (although a bit expensive), not overly loud. But the service was subpar: unfriendly, arrogant, apparently in a bad mood. That doesn't work at all! The service is the flagship of a location. It can be so nice and the food can be so refined and delicious. If it is delivered in a rude manner, the whole evening will go down the drain. We won't be coming back!

Expensive but not well managed! A wine was missing and the boss personally filled it up (!). The starter didn't come and the dessert was also forgotten. The schnitzels lay carelessly on the plates and were quite tasteless, but there was all the salt on the fries. It's a shame for the really beautiful ambience on the Rhine. We are generally very sympathetic, but this was simply a poor performance for the high price.

Zum Mittagstisch eine wundervolle Tomatensuppe und im Anschluss einen super gebratenen Kabeljau auf Fenchelgemüse und in Butter angebratenen, ganzen Kartöffelchen gegessen. Wirklich sehr lecker! Schön zu sehen, dass alles auf neuen und nicht verlebten Tellern serviert wurde. Die Bedienung war sehr nett, aufmerksam und nicht steif. Das Mittagsmenü hat wieder einmal Spaß gemacht! Und das Preis -Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut. Einzig die Getränkepreise sind happig. Und der Flaschenpreis fürs Wasser Tendenz Frechheit! Fazit: Essen super gekocht und gut bedient worden. Bei den Getränken ist nur zugekauft und üppigs kalkuliert worden. Das ist das Einzige, das keine Meisterleistung ist.

Leider ist das Bootshaus auch nicht mehr das was es mal war. Zwar ist die Currywurst noch auf der Speisekarte, aber nicht mehr nach dem bewährten Buchholz-Rezept: jetzt ist die Sauce lasch, die Fritten strohig und die Wurst lauwarm. Letzteres liegt wohl auch daran, dass das Essen jetzt auf kalten Tellern serviert wird. Vermißt habe ich auch das abwechslungsreiche Tagesmenü, da standen 3 Gänge für jeden Wochentag mit einer anderen Zusammenstellung zur Auswahl.

Wir sind unter der Woche auf ein Mittagessen im Bootshaus gewesen, der reservierte Tisch stand bereit. Die Karte kam schnell, an sich eine gute Auswahl, jedoch für Vegetarier ungeeignet, eine einzige Auswahlmöglichkeit, alle anderen gedachten Optionen von der Vorspeise bis zum Dessert beinhalten irgendwo etwas tierisches (Parmesan, Gelatine,..). Für Vegetarier also nicht zu empfehlen, von veganen Optionen ganz zu schweigen. Das Essen kam zügig auf den Tisch, da wenig Gäste da. Anbei ein Bild des interessant gestalteten ‚Apfelstrudel 2.0‘ (jedoch wieder nicht für Vegetarier geeignet (Panna Cotta (Gelatine)). Mehr Aufmerksamkeit durch die Bedienung wäre wünschenswert (schauen, ob alles recht ist, Acht geben und im Auge haben, ob sich Gläser leeren, usw.) und nicht erst wieder zum abräumen der Teller auftauchen. Gemütlich war es leider nicht, die Raumtemperatur war einfach zu kühl, zudem war auf der einen Seite ein Oberlicht geöffnet. Der Toilettenbereich (im EG) war sauber, die Beleuchtung im Gang jedoch aus, also zu dunkel. Zur Rechnung war es plötzlich eine neue Bedienung, ein angekündigter Wechsel wäre ein feiner Zug. Wir verließen, wohlgemerkt ohne eine Verabschiedung durch das Personal, zwar satt, aber fröstelnd das Bootshaus und freuten uns auf die (Sitz-)Heizung im Auto. Wir kommen sicherlich wieder, und mit Sicherheit, wenn es wieder wärmer ist. Fazit: Ich kenne das Bootshaus seit der Eröffnung 2011, in den Anfangsjahren waren wir hier sehr oft, und es ist gefühlt nicht mehr das was es mal war. Es liegt hier auch sicherlich nicht „an den gestiegenen Anforderungen der Gäste“. Bedauerlicherweise gibt es das schöne Mittagsmenü schon lange nicht mehr. Insgesamt waren die Speisen geschmacklich gut, die Portionsgrößen gut, Preise noch in Ordnung, jedoch für die Gesamtleistung (von Ankunft bis Verlassen) zu hoch, in allen Kategorien 3 Sterne - Bewertungsnote Gut.

Coffee was overpriced at 4.50 euros and latte macchiato 5.00 euros (1/4 of the glass of liquid, the rest was frothed milk, at the neighboring tables all the latte macchiato had a different filling volume - price performance in my opinion was not met). I'm willing to pay 5.00 euros for a good latte macchiato, but not if it barely contains any coffee. The waitress didn't know what kind of coffee she was serving - whether the coffee was with or without milk - and she didn't seem to care or care. At the end we were asked for our opinion. The prices would be set from above and the work on the barista machine would result in different filling volumes. Any kind of ability to criticize, for example that perhaps at least the different filling volume is not acceptable, is not available. In summary - I certainly won't be coming back.

From the moment we entered Bootshaus Mainz we were amazed by the warm welcome and the breathtaking views. The atmosphere of the restaurant is inviting and perfect for a romantic dinner or a social gathering with friends. The food was a true taste experience - from the freshly prepared starters to the artfully presented main courses. The freshly caught fish, which was cooked to perfection, is particularly recommended. We were also impressed by the wine selection, with an excellent selection of local and international wines. The service was attentive and professional, and the staff always made sure we didn't miss anything. We will definitely be back and can recommend Bootshaus Mainz to anyone looking for a high quality dining experience in a fantastic location!

Wir wollten unsere standesamtliche Hochzeit hier feiern. Waren einmal da um zu probieren, ob uns das Essen schmeckt. Zu dem Zeitpunkt waren wir schon nicht überzeugt vom Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis, dennoch war das Essen lecker. Auch der Service war nur okay und die Dame, die uns bediente nicht gerade freundlich. Die Lage und die schöne Aussicht war für uns der Hauptgrund ins Bootshaus zu gehen. Der Kontakt zur Vereinbarung unsere Feier war dann so katastrophal und unfreundlich, das wir unsere Reservierung schlussendlich storniert haben und uns ein anderes Restaurant für unseren Hochzeitstag gesucht haben. Schwer zu sagen ob das Restaurant nicht auf Gäste angewiesen ist oder wir unser Geld nicht zur Schau tragen, aber so möchten wir nicht behandelt werden.
