Nice here. Nice and relaxed. :) the food is also very tasty and they have great wines.

We have often heard about the boathouse and were finally able to get an impression for ourselves on Saturday, October 19th. We came especially from Mannheim and the slightly longer journey was very worth it. The food, ambience and the very courteous service absolutely convinced us. We'll definitely be back. It was a successful evening, thank you very much.

Coffee was overpriced at 4.50 euros and latte macchiato 5.00 euros (1/4 of the glass of liquid, the rest was frothed milk, at the neighboring tables all the latte macchiato had a different filling volume - price performance in my opinion was not met). I'm willing to pay 5.00 euros for a good latte macchiato, but not if it barely contains any coffee. The waitress didn't know what kind of coffee she was serving - whether the coffee was with or without milk - and she didn't seem to care or care. At the end we were asked for our opinion. The prices would be set from above and the work on the barista machine would result in different filling volumes. Any kind of ability to criticize, for example that perhaps at least the different filling volume is not acceptable, is not available. In summary - I certainly won't be coming back.

Yesterday we were a small wedding party and had lunch here. A nice location, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We ate a' la carte and everything was excellent.

Wie schon einige Wochen zuvor, wo wir draußen saßen, was uns etwas besser gefällt, war es auch diesmal wieder ein wunderschöner Abend. Ein großes Dankeschön geht an die Service-Mitarbeiter, besonders an Philipp!!! Natürlich war auch das Essen sensationell, wir kommen auf jeden Fall bald wieder.

From the moment we entered Bootshaus Mainz we were amazed by the warm welcome and the breathtaking views. The atmosphere of the restaurant is inviting and perfect for a romantic dinner or a social gathering with friends. The food was a true taste experience - from the freshly prepared starters to the artfully presented main courses. The freshly caught fish, which was cooked to perfection, is particularly recommended. We were also impressed by the wine selection, with an excellent selection of local and international wines. The service was attentive and professional, and the staff always made sure we didn't miss anything. We will definitely be back and can recommend Bootshaus Mainz to anyone looking for a high quality dining experience in a fantastic location!

Wir wollten unsere standesamtliche Hochzeit hier feiern. Waren einmal da um zu probieren, ob uns das Essen schmeckt. Zu dem Zeitpunkt waren wir schon nicht überzeugt vom Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis, dennoch war das Essen lecker. Auch der Service war nur okay und die Dame, die uns bediente nicht gerade freundlich. Die Lage und die schöne Aussicht war für uns der Hauptgrund ins Bootshaus zu gehen. Der Kontakt zur Vereinbarung unsere Feier war dann so katastrophal und unfreundlich, das wir unsere Reservierung schlussendlich storniert haben und uns ein anderes Restaurant für unseren Hochzeitstag gesucht haben. Schwer zu sagen ob das Restaurant nicht auf Gäste angewiesen ist oder wir unser Geld nicht zur Schau tragen, aber so möchten wir nicht behandelt werden.

Toller Service, tolle Lage, sehr gutes und frisches Essen, schön eingerichtet, wir haben uns Wohl gefühlt.

Unfortunately, the boathouse did not change for the better after it reopened. We waited over 1.5 hours between the starter and the main course and only got the latter when we asked. The main course (agnoli) was so little that the price of over 20 euros was not convincing despite the good taste. It's a real shame because you're sitting there beautifully on the Rhine. Unfortunately, the boathouse can't (anymore) score points with more.

Location einfach super. Zwei Punkte können verbessert werden: 1. Mehr KFZ-Parkplätze in unmittelbarer Nähe. 2. Spielplatz für Kleinkinder. Der Service war okay. Aber bitte den Espresso nicht mit dem Nachtisch, sondern danach servieren. Kalter Espresso ist nicht jedermanns Sache. Eine Tagessuppe, wenn Sie angeboten wird, bestelle ich immer. Wärmt den Magen und überbrückt die Zeit bis das Hauptgericht serviert wird.

Yesterday we were in the boathouse again for a long time... I briefly told our dear waitress Joshua that it was our wedding anniversary. Later I wanted to go to the toilet and the manager slim said that wasn't possible now and I should go back to my seat. Irritated, I did so and then Joshua and slim came to us with a bottle of champagne and two different very delicious desserts... congratulated us on our wedding anniversary. We were speechless!!!Where else can you find something like that???? Dear ones....thank you very much again. That was really the best wedding day because we never expected anything like that. LG. There is no better place to sit outdoors. Especially when the weather is bad. Heater. Blanket. Campfire. Everything is there.

Very nicely located at the winter harbor. Staff except one, inattentive, disinterested and slow. On the board on the way there is a beer for €5, on the menu it is €6.50... the food is really tasty, but pikeperch for €30 and everyone is still hungry... so bring enough money and patience.

We were completely happy: we visited the boathouse with our dog at 1:30 p.m. (with a table reservation). We were warmly welcomed, service was quick, uncomplicated, very attentive at all times and simply super friendly. the dog was immediately given a bowl of water (thank you very much!). The ambience is very harmonious, comfortable and casual-chic. We felt very comfortable. Food and drinks were also of great quality and came quite quickly (despite the terrace being quite busy). In terms of price, however, you are playing at the upper limit here. But if everything else goes well, we'll turn a blind eye to it. Unfortunately we cannot be regular guests at Bootshaus Mainz as we live a good 1.5 hours away. Really a shame!

*Poor price-performance *Food & service with little heart and soul* We went there for the first time with friends. The location is beautifully located on the Rhine, with an appealing ambience. Seeing and being seen is the motto here. This is probably also the reason for the sporty prices. For the money we would have expected perfectly tasted dishes, nicely presented and hot, unfortunately they were only mediocre in taste and the food was lukewarm. In fact, unfortunately it wasn't very special and we were disappointed by the highly advertised location. Unfortunately, the service that evening was neither attentive nor very friendly; we kept having to wait longer and wave at the service staff when our drinks were empty in order to be noticed. When we visited, the boathouse didn't live up to its reputation, which was a shame. Conclusion: In many restaurants in/around Mainz there is much better food with attention to detail, with passion, and at a significantly better price-performance ratio. We will not be visiting the boathouse again.

A beautiful setting and great food. Sit on the patio, with views of the Rhine and local harbor. Very well prepared meal, and friendly service.

I called and asked if we could use the boathouse dock for a special occasion. Mr. Buchholz was so unfriendly that I was really horrified. The very short, brusque phone call ended with the sentence: "I think it's a shame for you too." With a cynical undertone. What I find very sad as a former customer and Mainz resident is that this restaurant in a very beautiful location on the Rhine was leased to someone who doesn't know what hospitality means. You always feel that when you are there. Everything seems tense and the mood is often bad. No wonder with the boss and really a shame for Mainz.

We took a day trip to Mainz from Bingen; We really wanted to experience Frank Buchholz’s Bootshaus Mainz! It was absolutely worth it! We ate the lamb shank - absolutely amazing! Service very friendly and attentive. Still not aloof, everything very down to earth, price-performance ratio absolutely fine! Always my pleasure. Absolute recommendation. P.S. The patron was there too! A tiny criticism: our starter came with the main meal, but the wine with the meal came a little later. The timing could be a little better! But it didn't influence our absolutely positive impression.

We spent a few lovely hours in the boathouse on the occasion of my husband's 🎂 birthday 🚹 and just found it *goosebumps* beautiful 😉 Location, ambience, service, food...everything is perfect. The sung happy birthday serenade with cupcakes, prosecco, great employees and super relaxed Frank Buchholz (he's just as nice as he is on TV) was particularly great, ❤️ and absolutely not a given What a loving gesture. Food great, service great, but unfortunately the jet ski and sports boat madness that is now raging on the Rhine completely destroyed the evening in the actually very beautiful outdoor area. You feel like you're at a V8 meeting and motorcycle Grand Prix at the same time. The noise is simply unbearable!

Wir, vier verwöhnte und anspruchsvolle Restaurantbesucher, waren völlig begeistert, von dem netten Empfang, der lockeren Atmosphäre, dem aufmerksamen Service und nicht zuletzt dem hervorragenden Essen. Wir bedanken uns beim gesamten Team und kommen auf jeden Fall bald wieder.

Taffelwasser 4€. Warum? Ich weiß nicht. Ein Glass. Das war nicht elegant.

Das Essen im Bootshaus war gut, haben leider sehr lange darauf gewartet. Die Bedienung hat meinen Mann und mich nicht wirklich ernst genommen und hat den Fokus auf „reicher aussehende“ Kunden gelegt und uns auf einen schlechten Platz trotz Reservierung gesetzt. Hab mir etwas mehr erhofft und bin leider sehr enttäuscht worden.

I came here spontaneously today based on a recommendation. The welcome from the service staff was very open and warm. The ambience is great with the location on the Rhine and the winter harbor. Since I had looked into the prices and the menu in advance, I knew what the level was. (I don't understand some of the comments because of this, nobody has to eat something here if they think it's too expensive 😉) The food I ordered was very tasty and my request for bread because of the sauce was immediately fulfilled. The only point of criticism is the entrance to the toilet, which was quite dirty and looked like it was being neglected. Toilets were ok. (I suspect it's almost a public toilet) Otherwise great restaurant even for just a short break to have a drink…

Wegen einem besonderen Anlass (44. Hochzeitstag) wollten wir einen Tisch am Flusseite haben. Angeblich waren sie alle für vier Personen. Also ein zweier Tisch vor dem Küchentür haben wir bekommen. Was uns meistens geärgert hat war später zwei Herschaften gemütlich bei einem Ufertisch platzgenommen haben. Also wie George Orwell gesagt hat, alle Schweine sind gleich, aber manche sind gleicher..!

First time dining here as a small group. The location is very nice, the selection of food is manageable and sufficient. The servants were very nice in a relaxed atmosphere. The process from ordering to serving was also perfect. The dishes were beautifully prepared and tasteful. However, one point of criticism is that the main courses are a bit too few for a man. More side dishes should be served here. You should actually feel at least slightly full after eating. Then I would have given it 5 stars. The prices can be classified as high.

Unfortunately, today's experience at the boathouse was anything but positive. The steak we ordered was neither medium rare (as requested) nor spicy in any way, it was more like a gray shoe sole. The vegetables - well, let's not talk about them, but taste is something else. When the waiter finally asked if it was tasty, I gave an honest answer. Then not even a sigh, just the message that this will be passed on to the kitchen, not a word of sorry, sorry or maybe a drink on the house? Nothing! Sorry guys, but service is different! Overall, the entire service throughout the evening was very poor. After the menus were presented to us, it took a long time until a waiter showed up again. For the first time in my life, I didn't tip! The whole store isn't what it used to be. At least that was the experience today. Definitely won't be coming back.

Leider war die heutige Erfahrung im Bootshaus alles andere als positiv. Das bestellte Steak war weder Medium (wie gewünscht) noch irgendwie würzig, es glich viel mehr einer grauen Schuhsohle. Das Gemüse - naja, reden wir nicht darüber, aber Geschmack ist was anderes. Als der Kellner zum Schluss gefragt hat, ob es geschmeckt hat, gab es eine ehrliche Antwort von mir. Daraufhin noch nicht mal ein Seufzer, nur die Mitteilung, dass dies der Küche weitergegeben wird, Kein Wort von Entschuldigung, tut uns leid oder vielleicht ein Getränk aufs Haus? Nichts! Sorry Leute, aber Service geht anders! Insgesamt war auch der gesamte Service den Abend über sehr mangelhaft. Nachdem uns die Speisekarten vorgelegt wurden, hat es sehr lange gedauert, bis sich ein Kellner hat wieder blicken lassen. Zum ersten Mal in meinem Leben gab es deshalb auch kein Trinkgeld von mir! Der ganze Laden ist nicht mehr das, was es mal war. Zumindest war das die Erfahrung heute. Werde auf jeden Fall nicht wiederkommen.

I wanted to make my wife happy for our one-year anniversary... and she couldn't stop ordering fresh oysters! A visit to this restaurant can be very impressive - culinary and ambience. I think Mainz has a delicious enrichment with the boathouse - which can be wonderfully combined with a walk on the promenade.

After our civil wedding, we were able to enjoy a delicious meal in the boathouse with our guests (20 people). We had a separate area on the terrace just for us and our guests. The ambience is 1a. We felt very comfortable. The service was very attentive and responded to all of our requests. Very familiar and super harmonious. All the employees work professionally and you had the feeling that you had been friends for years and felt very welcome. We were allowed to put together the food and drinks/wines for our guests from the menu ourselves. The selection was very large, so there was something for every taste. The quality of the food was simply excellent and a real culinary delight. All in all a successful day. We will definitely use the boathouse for further celebrations. Thanks for the great day.

So if you're looking for a restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and top gastronomy in a maritime location, you don't necessarily have to go to the sea! The boathouse is a real recommendation! However, food and drinks have their price, but you are rewarded with top quality, competent, fun staff and a great view. A real tip from me!

My last visit to the restaurant was extremely impressive and far exceeded my expectations. In the past there were often criticisms regarding customer satisfaction, but this has now completely changed. The new chef brings a breath of fresh air into the kitchen and serves excellent dishes that impress both in terms of taste and appearance. I would particularly like to highlight the staff, who were consistently friendly and courteous and created a pleasant atmosphere. Thank you for that! The large, bright window front with a view of the river also contributes to the positive overall experience and reinforces the feeling of being in a special place. With the best location in the city and the now perfect service, the restaurant has developed into a first-class address that I can recommend without reservation.

A wonderful place to end the day

We went to the boathouse twice during our weekend stay. The service, the ambience and the food were incredibly great. We would particularly like to highlight and praise the very friendly and competent service staff! Thank you for our lovely stays.

Sehr schön kann man am Rhein sitzen. Man erwartet unheimlich viel vom Namen F.B. Aber da kommt nicht viel. Bedient wird man meistens vom Personal mit Sonnenbrille. Auch im Lokal. An der Wand wir man erstmal von einer Spinne begrüßt, viele Spinnengewebe an Fenstern und Möbilar. Essen haut dich nicht um, Preis konnte ich jetzt nicht meckern. Treppe zur Toilette sehr schmutzig. Brauch ich nicht mehr. Aber jeder sollte sich seine eigene Meinung bilden.

We rode our bikes from Hakenheim to Mainz and spontaneously stopped at the boathouse. The location on the Rhine is simply great. When the weather is nice, be sure to find a spot on the terrace to enjoy the view of the water. The service was super friendly and attentive. When you looked at the menu, you immediately noticed the prices, but the food justified the prices. So the food was inexpensive, so worth the price 😉 We will definitely stop here again on our next vacation.

Sitting on the terrace of the boathouse with a view of the mouth of the Main on a warm spring day, enjoying a Riesling wine spritzer with a great wild herb salad or very tasty Spunekäs is a taste of life.

Die Philosophie von Herrn Buchholz spürt man deutlich und ist sehr positiv. Guter Service und hervorragende Küche.

We spent a really nice evening in the boathouse. The service was fantastic, I felt completely taken care of. It's always nice to sit on the terrace in the sun and look out over the Rhine. When it got a little chilly outside after sunset, we were able to move into the beautifully renovated interior of the restaurant without any problems. The starter with beef tartare, seafood salad and burrata was not only a real eye-catcher but also really tasty. At our table we ordered the salmon fillet with rosemary potatoes, the strozzapretti with wild garlic pesto and green asparagus and the rump steak as main courses and were very satisfied. All dishes were lovingly prepared and tasted great. The loup de mer, which was even freshly filleted for us at the table, was really very tasty. The passion fruit tart was a crowning touch with the creamy chocolate ice cream and the absolutely brilliant passion fruit cream. The service staff is first class, super friendly and very attentive. We never had to wait long and were well advised. We were thrilled and are looking forward to coming back now that the boathouse is finally open again.
