We booked for 2 pax at 9 pm on a Sunday. When we arrived, the host greeted us with a stained hoodie by BLOCKING the door, and telling us the kitchen is closed. We asked why they accepted and confirmed the reservation if the kitchen is closed. He rudely said “I didn’t do it, it’s not my problem”. He then continued to physically step forward to push us out of the restaurant, which we were not even in. He could have easily managed this nicely. It’s fine, mistakes happen, but being rude to customers for a mistake that YOU made is definitely a no-go. If I were the owner and manager of this restaurant, I’d definitely fire this rude h person.

Portions are sufficiently large

There's an update below after our second visit. 1st Visit: This rarely happens: We were very satisfied with all three courses at BonVivant. A rather simple tomato and bread salad to start the evening surprised us with a sophisticated dressing, pickled onions, and extremely flavorful bread. How good simple dishes can taste... Our evening continued on the same culinary level with our main courses, beef ragout and fish. The combination of sweet potato mash and delicately seasoned ragout was top-notch. The fish was in no way inferior to the ragout. The New York cheesecake for dessert wasn't particularly sweet, but combined with the dark chocolate on the base and on top, it was exactly to our taste. Even the few cocktails on the menu (we tried three) were delicious. Combined with the very friendly service, who performed their duties in an obliging but unobtrusive manner, we can only give it a five-star rating in all criteria. The dining room has a living room atmosphere, the authentic, vintage sideboards are beautiful to look at, and the exposed stone wall is an eye-catcher. One more thing: The prices are high, very high in fact. Normally, I'd lose a star for that. But at BonVivant, it seems appropriate: It makes me happy to enjoy the exceptional every now and then – relaxed, like in my own living room. This feeling is worth a lot to me – in that sense, the food at BonVivant is worth the price. Update 2nd Visit: The food once again completely convinced us. What the chef serves in the tiny kitchen is worthy of all praise. We can overlook the fact that, with a full house, 45 minutes can pass between the starter and the main course... However, in our opinion, the service didn't live up to the restaurant's standards. A completely noncommittal demeanor combined with an infuriating hectic pace, even a lack of focus, thwarted our efforts to relax. Furthermore, the waitress unexpectedly and unnecessarily reached over our shoulders several times to move eating utensils and personal items around or even remove them from the table entirely. We found this extremely unpleasant. The prices have gone up. We paid over 100 euros for a shared appetizer, two main courses, and a bottle of water. Since the portion sizes of the main courses, in our experience, are designed for a multi-course combination, we left the restaurant a little hungry this time... Although we are not significantly changing our original review, after our second visit, based on our experience with the service, we have decided not to visit the BonVivant restaurant again in the foreseeable future.

We chose the Bonvivant Frankfurt and were not disappointed! In addition to friendly and very attentive staff, the restaurant boasted a very enchanting ambience and authentic cuisine. We decided on a starter and two main courses. I ordered the lamb chops, which were excellently grilled and the seasoning made me want more. The potato and carrot mash with thyme was also a culinary delight. An ideal place to enjoy a romantic dinner for two or to indulge in culinary delights alone!

The prices (26 - 34,- starter and main dish starting at 32 till 60,-) you expect friendly welcoming and professional service who knows what is n the various dishes, remembers orders and brings the vine at the right time. The starter - avocado tuna tartar for 34,- €) was simply catastrophic a avocado hard as a stone and tuna to salty. Main dishes were ok but again overpriced. They compensated the starter by offering free desert with espresso which was very kind and well appreciated. Service was very friendly but at these prices you expect a much more professional service. No recommendation, no second try. Location nice, even if the area at Konstablerwache by night is not the best. From our table at the window we could see people urinating against the trash.

Everything great until the restaurant asked us to pay in cash. If we didn’t have enough cash, we would have to go to an ATM. They should pay their share of tax. Come on!

We booked through Google and when we arrived they literally told us: "You don't have a table, look at the place being full, do you see any free space?" I thought it was a rude and unnecessary comment. We waited a while and since a table became available they gave it to another couple. It seemed very unserious to me. IT IS NO USE TO RESERVE. We ate at Bon Vivant for the first time today. The location is beautifully decorated in a Mediterranean style. There is a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. It is perfect for a romantic date night. Both the starter and the main course were very tasty. We had the lamb shank and sea bream. The waiter was very nice and was always available for recommendations. According to him, the meat is halal. The price is a bit higher, but it's worth it for the really nice location and the delicious food. We would visit the restaurant again 👌🏻

Particularly noteworthy is the host, who made the entire dinner an unforgettable experience. A highly recommended restaurant in the center of Frankfurt. We loved the ambience and the attention of the staff, and of course especially the food. For starters, we had tuna tartare and the black tiger prawns. For the main course we chose the beef fillet and the turbot fillet and can highly recommend both courses. Everything was very delicious, we will definitely come back.

Went here to celebrate a really special occasion and the ambiance was very cozy and romantic but I felt this place is extremely expensive for what we pay! I’ve had better dining experience in terms of food for much lesser price! The plating was also very mediocre! I hadn’t even finished my drink and the staff was in a hurry to clear the table! Weirdly the staff also started disinfecting/cleaning the table once he took food off the table after we finished it! But we still were drinking wine! I think cleaning the table can wait until we leave the restaurant! In the end we were also forced to tip 10% which was a rip off!

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Frankfurt, especially in summer! In this small alley you feel like you are on holiday and the quality of the food is top notch. The best shrimp in garlic oil can be found here. But the meat and everything else has never disappointed me. Fine wines round it all off and the service is also extremely friendly. That's why I'm giving it a well-deserved 5 stars. Compliments to the entire team

Best Mediterranean Kitchen in Frankfurt! Holiday feeling in the small alley in the middle of the city. If you want to eat THE best shrimp in olive oil, slightly spicy, you simply can't miss this spot. Fish and meat dishes don't disappoint either. After all the years of numerous visits and long fun evenings, we have never been disappointed. Those who know it know it, those who don't just shouldn't miss it.

The food is ok, but from a pricing point of view it is a rip-off and we encountered inappropriate events. For example they charged 9 euro’s per bottle of water. When I asked for the bill the waiter/owner asked for more tip then I suggested to give. He actually started a dialogue and said ‘that tip is not enough’ and started to put pressure. I felt this was strange and rude as a customer decides the tip and a waiter/owner should not negotiate tips.

Food was simply not good. Fish was old (smelled and had to be replaced) and all seemed to lack dedication and skill from the chef. I was there some years ago and remember it really well, but last night was not great by any means

Just had a date night at BonVivant last night, and I can’t recommend this restaurant enough! It’s very romantic and the service is spectacular. The waiter was very gracious and allowed us to have a drink outside in between courses and was so great the whole night, allowing us to enjoy a whole evening there. It was a wonderful night, and the food was very very good, the mussels were really spectacular. Very highly recommended!

So so experience: i ordered a 54Euro ribeye steak which was an huge mistake, at least 1/3 of the steak full of grizzle, not eatable. The octopus was descent. At the end the waiter insisted on a 10% tip. would not recommend.

Das passiert selten: Wir waren im BonVivant mit allen drei Gängen sehr zufrieden. Ein eher simpler Tomaten/Brot Salat zur Eröffnung des Abends hat uns überrascht mit einem raffinierten Dressing, eingelegten Zwiebeln und äußerst schmackhaften Brot. Wie gut doch einfache Gerichte schmecken können... Mit unseren Hauptspeisen, Rinderragout und Fisch, ging unser Abend auf gleichem kulinarischem Niveau weiter. Die Kombination aus Süßkartoffelstampf und fein abgeschmecktem Ragout war Oberklasse. Der Fisch stand dem Ragout in Nichts nach. Der New York Cheese Cake als Nachtisch war nicht wirklich süß, in Kombination mit der dunklen Schokolade am Boden und oben drauf aber genau nach unserem Gusto. Selbst die wenigen Cocktails auf der Karte (wir haben drei davon probiert) haben uns gemundet. Zusammen mit der sehr freundlichen Bedienung, die verbindlich, aber unaufdringlich ihre Aufgabe erledigte, bleibt uns nur eine fünf Sterne Bewertung in allen Kriterien. Der Gastraum hat Wohnzimmeratmosphäre, die authentisch alten Anrichten sind schön anzuschauen, die sichtbare Steinwand ein Hingucker. Eins noch: Die Preise sind hoch, sogar sehr hoch. Normalerweise geht bei mir dafür ein Stern unter. Aber im BonVivant scheint mir das angemessen: Es macht mich glücklich, ab und zu das Herausragende unter dem Besonderen zu genießen - entspannt wie im eigenen Wohnzimmer. Dieses Gefühl ist mir einiges Wert - so gesehen ist das Essen im BonVivant den Preis wert.

To pay by card you must go to the cashier. "Great" service. 3. Was insisted to leave 10% of the tip for the very usual service. A wonderful place with a great athmosphere and little romantic vibe. We were welcomed by a kind waiter who guided us through the menu and gave us excellent suggestions. The food was really deliscious. Try the burrata and the fish soup.

I ended up at Bonvivant because of the good reviews and was very surprised. Very average food at prices like in a star restaurant. (Bottle of water 9 euros? Glass of wine from 12? Tagliata 50 euros without a side dish and a measly plate of mediocre mussels 25?!) - What were you thinking? Funny idea of ​​"romance"... The shop was empty and will probably stay that way more often. It's a shame because the interior is actually cozy and well located.

We started our dinner with a burrata and shared a lamb shoulder (generous portion) for mains with two glasses of red chauvignon wine. We also had a delicious crème Catalan to change taste onour palates ☺️ The service was attentive and the food was very delicious. That’s why I would highly recommend this little gym tucked away in the middle of the city.

Absolutely not recommended. The service was really mediocre, the order had to be repeated dozens of times. Some at the table would nod and be asked what they wanted to drink. We were a group of 8. It's very cramped but nicely decorated. The waiter was an absolute disaster! First we ordered 4 fillets, he came back with the information, we only have 2 fillets left (it can happen) The waiter came three times to ask again about the order, a real disaster. We had reserved via OpenTable, had a 50-minute journey and found ourselves in front of closed doors. According to neighbors on vacation! Absolutely impossible!

We have a table for December 26th a month in advance. Reserved and received a reservation confirmation by email. On December 24th We received an email that our reservation for Boxing Day had been canceled. On the phone we were only told that they were closed. Unfortunately you can't rely on a reservation here and you'll be left without a table during the holidays. We also found the unfriendly reaction of the employee on the phone very unfortunate.
