Friendly and attentive staff made our evening even better.

A nice, small restaurant with a rustic atmosphere. The food is excellent, and the staff are extremely friendly and attentive. The "cash only" policy is completely incomprehensible given the prices... ...and ultimately limited the owner's potential revenue.

Very cozy place with a lovely atmosphere. My wife and I came here for our Christmas Eve and our last dinner in Frankfurt before flying home tomorrow. This restaurant gave our trip a perfect ending. The host/waiter was extremely friendly and attentive, explaining everything very clearly—not only the dishes, but also their background and history, which we really appreciated. We ordered the crayfish salad, octopus, and beef as our main course. Everything was fantastic, with a truly homely, comforting taste. We loved every dish. Highly recommended, especially if you’re looking for a warm, memorable dining experience.

Unfortunately, very overpriced for the quality. We tried several dishes from the menu, including hummus and tuna tartare. Both were unfortunately only mediocre – especially considering the prices. The hummus was too cold and lacked any particular flavor, and the tartare was also poorly prepared. There was also far too little bread served with the hummus: a very small bowl for two people. Especially at this price point, they shouldn't be so stingy with the bread. The tuna steak, on the other hand, was good and deserves special mention. The service also left much to be desired. One server is clearly insufficient for a busy, small restaurant. Furthermore, there was no inquiry as to whether everything was satisfactory or if we needed anything else. It's a shame – I used to find this place very pleasant. Unfortunately, the price and quality no longer meet my expectations.

For the price, there are much better options in Frankfurt city center. Waiting times aren't short either. The place is often half empty. But it's nice for dates.

I ignored the few bad reviews and had to regret it. The food is alright, but measured by price it's bad. We had to wait for 2 hours for just our first appetizer. It took another hour to receive the main course.At The very end, he said it's not possible to pay by card, only cash. Cash for such high sums? And they never fixed their device to pay by card? Seems like a big scam. The environment looks nice, but that's it. For people without high requirements for good, it might not be acceptable, but other than that, this is a no-go. Very disappointed.

The restaurant is small, very cozy, and has a wonderfully personal atmosphere, perfect for a lovely dinner for two. The cuisine is French-Mediterranean, and every dish was superbly prepared. The fish and seafood dishes are a particular highlight, but the meat was also cooked to perfection. The attentive, friendly service and the excellent wine selection were also outstanding. Highly recommended!

We booked for 2 pax at 9 pm on a Sunday. When we arrived, the host greeted us with a stained hoodie by BLOCKING the door, and telling us the kitchen is closed. We asked why they accepted and confirmed the reservation if the kitchen is closed. He rudely said “I didn’t do it, it’s not my problem”. He then continued to physically step forward to push us out of the restaurant, which we were not even in. He could have easily managed this nicely. It’s fine, mistakes happen, but being rude to customers for a mistake that YOU made is definitely a no-go. If I were the owner and manager of this restaurant, I’d definitely fire this rude h person.

This is a phenomenal restaurant. It very easily places in one of the top 10 meals I have eaten in my lifetime. Service was excellent and our waiter spoke English very well. Excellent ambiance to boot.

We had a wonderful experience here. When we first walked in there was no one, had conversation with the server and felt like the whole place was reserved for us! Definitely got more popular over the next hour. The burrata appetizer, seafood risotto, and beef ragout were absolutely fabulous. Even the olive oil that came with the fresh-sliced bread was so flavorful. Charming ambience, not too loud, in an intimate space with candlelight and art. Our server was kind and attentive even though he was the only person working front of house, and seemed proud of the menu and happy to answer any question or recommendation. If we are back in Frankfurt- we will be back here!

Can’t really explain the good rating, other than that they might have been bought. The restaurant feels like a cheap wannabe Italian fancy tavern. The service doesn’t know basic service skills, nor the menu. When asking for a basic drink like a Campari spritz (not on menu), this led to a challenge almost insurmountable challenge to our bewildered amusement. The food follows the nature of the furnishing, unlike the bill that came with an amount that you typically pay after you were served Michelin star like dishes. I felt fooled.

Portions are sufficiently large

There's an update below after our second visit. 1st Visit: This rarely happens: We were very satisfied with all three courses at BonVivant. A rather simple tomato and bread salad to start the evening surprised us with a sophisticated dressing, pickled onions, and extremely flavorful bread. How good simple dishes can taste... Our evening continued on the same culinary level with our main courses, beef ragout and fish. The combination of sweet potato mash and delicately seasoned ragout was top-notch. The fish was in no way inferior to the ragout. The New York cheesecake for dessert wasn't particularly sweet, but combined with the dark chocolate on the base and on top, it was exactly to our taste. Even the few cocktails on the menu (we tried three) were delicious. Combined with the very friendly service, who performed their duties in an obliging but unobtrusive manner, we can only give it a five-star rating in all criteria. The dining room has a living room atmosphere, the authentic, vintage sideboards are beautiful to look at, and the exposed stone wall is an eye-catcher. One more thing: The prices are high, very high in fact. Normally, I'd lose a star for that. But at BonVivant, it seems appropriate: It makes me happy to enjoy the exceptional every now and then – relaxed, like in my own living room. This feeling is worth a lot to me – in that sense, the food at BonVivant is worth the price. Update 2nd Visit: The food once again completely convinced us. What the chef serves in the tiny kitchen is worthy of all praise. We can overlook the fact that, with a full house, 45 minutes can pass between the starter and the main course... However, in our opinion, the service didn't live up to the restaurant's standards. A completely noncommittal demeanor combined with an infuriating hectic pace, even a lack of focus, thwarted our efforts to relax. Furthermore, the waitress unexpectedly and unnecessarily reached over our shoulders several times to move eating utensils and personal items around or even remove them from the table entirely. We found this extremely unpleasant. The prices have gone up. We paid over 100 euros for a shared appetizer, two main courses, and a bottle of water. Since the portion sizes of the main courses, in our experience, are designed for a multi-course combination, we left the restaurant a little hungry this time... Although we are not significantly changing our original review, after our second visit, based on our experience with the service, we have decided not to visit the BonVivant restaurant again in the foreseeable future.

A very nice restaurant for romantic evenings for two! Intimate atmosphere, very pleasant ambiance, and exceptionally delicious food—a bit difficult for vegetarians, unfortunately. We had a wonderful dinner there on our anniversary with very attentive service and excellent food.

We chose the Bonvivant Frankfurt and were not disappointed! In addition to friendly and very attentive staff, the restaurant boasted a very enchanting ambience and authentic cuisine. We decided on a starter and two main courses. I ordered the lamb chops, which were excellently grilled and the seasoning made me want more. The potato and carrot mash with thyme was also a culinary delight. An ideal place to enjoy a romantic dinner for two or to indulge in culinary delights alone!

The prices (26 - 34,- starter and main dish starting at 32 till 60,-) you expect friendly welcoming and professional service who knows what is n the various dishes, remembers orders and brings the vine at the right time. The starter - avocado tuna tartar for 34,- €) was simply catastrophic a avocado hard as a stone and tuna to salty. Main dishes were ok but again overpriced. They compensated the starter by offering free desert with espresso which was very kind and well appreciated. Service was very friendly but at these prices you expect a much more professional service. No recommendation, no second try. Location nice, even if the area at Konstablerwache by night is not the best. From our table at the window we could see people urinating against the trash.

Everything great until the restaurant asked us to pay in cash. If we didn’t have enough cash, we would have to go to an ATM. They should pay their share of tax. Come on!

The waiter was fine and friendly, however the overall experience was not pleasant. Food came so slow, so that I got nothing for the first half hour. And waited another hour for my main. And it is 2025 now, still not accepting cards??? However, on the google map details, it’s stating accept credit card payment.

We booked through Google and when we arrived they literally told us: "You don't have a table, look at the place being full, do you see any free space?" I thought it was a rude and unnecessary comment. We waited a while and since a table became available they gave it to another couple. It seemed very unserious to me. IT IS NO USE TO RESERVE. The truth is that it is a very bad experience.

We ate at Bon Vivant for the first time today. The location is beautifully decorated in a Mediterranean style. There is a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. It is perfect for a romantic date night. Both the starter and the main course were very tasty. We had the lamb shank and sea bream. The waiter was very nice and was always available for recommendations. According to him, the meat is halal. The price is a bit higher, but it's worth it for the really nice location and the delicious food. We would visit the restaurant again 👌🏻

Particularly noteworthy is the host, who made the entire dinner an unforgettable experience. With his warm and attentive manner, he welcomed us from the first moment and created a fantastic atmosphere with his extensive knowledge of the menu and wines. It is rare to experience a host who is not only professional but also so personal and charming. You really feel like a valued guest. A highly recommended restaurant in the center of Frankfurt. We loved the ambience and the attention of the staff, and of course especially the food. For starters, we had tuna tartare and the black tiger prawns. For the main course we chose the beef fillet and the turbot fillet and can highly recommend both courses. Everything was very delicious, we will definitely come back.

Went here to celebrate a really special occasion and the ambiance was very cozy and romantic but I felt this place is extremely expensive for what we pay! I’ve had better dining experience in terms of food for much lesser price! The plating was also very mediocre! I hadn’t even finished my drink and the staff was in a hurry to clear the table! Weirdly the staff also started disinfecting/cleaning the table once he took food off the table after we finished it! But we still were drinking wine! I think cleaning the table can wait until we leave the restaurant! In the end we were also forced to tip 10% which was a rip off!

Best Mediterranean Kitchen in Frankfurt! Holiday feeling in the small alley in the middle of the city. If you want to eat THE best shrimp in olive oil, slightly spicy, you simply can't miss this spot. Fish and meat dishes don't disappoint either. After all the years of numerous visits and long fun evenings, we have never been disappointed. Those who know it know it, those who don't just shouldn't miss it.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Frankfurt, especially in summer! In this small alley you feel like you are on holiday and the quality of the food is top notch. The best shrimp in garlic oil can be found here. But the meat and everything else has never disappointed me. Fine wines round it all off and the service is also extremely friendly. That's why I'm giving it a well-deserved 5 stars. Compliments to the entire team

The food is ok, but from a pricing point of view it is a rip-off and we encountered inappropriate events. For example they charged 9 euro’s per bottle of water. When I asked for the bill the waiter/owner asked for more tip then I suggested to give. He actually started a dialogue and said ‘that tip is not enough’ and started to put pressure. I felt this was strange and rude as a customer decides the tip and a waiter/owner should not negotiate tips.

Food was simply not good. Fish was old (smelled and had to be replaced) and all seemed to lack dedication and skill from the chef. I was there some years ago and remember it really well, but last night was not great by any means

The waiter tells you that the portions are small and you should order at least a starter and a main course. The portions are good, not small. The prices are defenitely too high. For the required price, the quality should be strongly improved. What a pitty. A simple Italian restaurant around the corner serves better food for less than 1/2 price….

Just had a date night at BonVivant last night, and I can’t recommend this restaurant enough! It’s very romantic and the service is spectacular. The waiter was very gracious and allowed us to have a drink outside in between courses and was so great the whole night, allowing us to enjoy a whole evening there. It was a wonderful night, and the food was very very good, the mussels were really spectacular. Very highly recommended!

So so experience: i ordered a 54Euro ribeye steak which was an huge mistake, at least 1/3 of the steak full of grizzle, not eatable. The octopus was descent. At the end the waiter insisted on a 10% tip. would not recommend.

Das passiert selten: Wir waren im BonVivant mit allen drei Gängen sehr zufrieden. Ein eher simpler Tomaten/Brot Salat zur Eröffnung des Abends hat uns überrascht mit einem raffinierten Dressing, eingelegten Zwiebeln und äußerst schmackhaften Brot. Wie gut doch einfache Gerichte schmecken können... Mit unseren Hauptspeisen, Rinderragout und Fisch, ging unser Abend auf gleichem kulinarischem Niveau weiter. Die Kombination aus Süßkartoffelstampf und fein abgeschmecktem Ragout war Oberklasse. Der Fisch stand dem Ragout in Nichts nach. Der New York Cheese Cake als Nachtisch war nicht wirklich süß, in Kombination mit der dunklen Schokolade am Boden und oben drauf aber genau nach unserem Gusto. Selbst die wenigen Cocktails auf der Karte (wir haben drei davon probiert) haben uns gemundet. Zusammen mit der sehr freundlichen Bedienung, die verbindlich, aber unaufdringlich ihre Aufgabe erledigte, bleibt uns nur eine fünf Sterne Bewertung in allen Kriterien. Der Gastraum hat Wohnzimmeratmosphäre, die authentisch alten Anrichten sind schön anzuschauen, die sichtbare Steinwand ein Hingucker. Eins noch: Die Preise sind hoch, sogar sehr hoch. Normalerweise geht bei mir dafür ein Stern unter. Aber im BonVivant scheint mir das angemessen: Es macht mich glücklich, ab und zu das Herausragende unter dem Besonderen zu genießen - entspannt wie im eigenen Wohnzimmer. Dieses Gefühl ist mir einiges Wert - so gesehen ist das Essen im BonVivant den Preis wert.

The first impression was very good, pleasant atmosphere and nice ambience made it possible to overlook the tables that were a bit too small (-; As soon as we had sat down, the service was already at the table, but somewhat surprisingly not with the question about aperitif and water but directly with it Ask which wine we want to drink, red or white. Nice lighting, not too bright, not too dark in a stylish interior. The service was on point and was able to give us good advice on the wine selection. The food was a dream - a complete success.

Salad Cesar without chicken 17 euros (for a bit of parmesan and salad leaves with souce and croutons) 26 euros same salad with hard and dry chicken. Definitely overpriced for such quality. 2. To pay by card you must go to the cashier. "Great" service. 3. Was insisted to leave 10% of the tip for the very usual service. Conclusion: Greediness of the owner results in empty restaurant in the heart of the city centre. Get some experience. Would not recommend a visit. A wonderful place with a great athmosphere and little romantic vibe. We were welcomed by a kind waiter who guided us through the menu and gave us excellent suggestions. The food was really deliscious. Try the burrata and the fish soup.

This place was the perfect finale of a wonderful weekend in Frankfurt. Service was outstanding even though we hadn’t booked. The waiter went out of his way to provide us a seat, amazing wine and great food. We ordered starters with wine and main with a different wine and everything was timed spot on.
