Blutenburg Castle in München

A great atmosphere with excellent food at fair prices. Two terraces, one overlooking the castle lake teeming with fish and waterfowl, the other overlooking the castle courtyard and an impressive linden tree.

On a beautiful day, Burgschenke can be a bit hectic – but the service staff remained charming throughout. The food turned out to be a real surprise: simple, but made with care and love. I hadn’t expected a freshly baked Topfenstrudel with vanilla sauce of this level here, and it was absolutely delightful. This isn’t gourmet dining, but it’s definitely feel-good food at its best.

Exceptional experience at the restaurant of this castle, the food was great and I enjoyed every single dish.

A wheat beer for bench number 60—where else can you find something like that? A beautiful place for a cycling break—and the people here are incredibly friendly—simply fantastic!

We were cycling and had lunch there. The service was very positive: attentive and friendly. The ambiance was very inviting. The entire complex, bathed in sunshine, appeared well-maintained and worthy of a repeat visit.

I haven't eaten at that restaurant, but I've been to the youth library a couple of times. It was recently remodeled. It's beautiful! And it's filled with books in all languages, so it's worth a visit. They also hold events constantly, and the surrounding area is a great place to spend hours.

Very nice atmosphere; you sit here in front of the Blutenburg castle with a view of the pond. Even if the pub garden is very crowded, you can take your drinks to the benches right by the lake. Thieves have numbers, and with luck, the beer will even be delivered to the bench. The staff is very friendly and always in a good mood, despite the stress. I can't say anything about the food so far, but it's very popular. The drinks are good, although the wheat beer costs 6 euros without the tipple. I highly recommend this place!

The Kaiserschmarrn is amazing. But all the other dishes are delicious, too.

We visited the Blutenburg Schlossschänke today in glorious weather. First-class service and compliments to the kitchen. A no-brainer menu, excellent drinks, and truly fine food at absolutely fair prices. The terrace offers a wonderful view. Here, attention to the small but important details is paramount, and a visit is well worth it!

Beautiful nature, aquatic animals, organic food, very tasty

We were there for the first time and are now wondering why we only came now. Everything was just right: the surroundings were fantastic (you can eat right by the lake or in the beautiful courtyard, and it looked very cozy inside too), great food (excellent sauces!), and a delicious Kaiserschmarrn (smothered pancake). The service was also very courteous and attentive. We'll definitely be back!

Strange dishes, roast pork with Asian cabbage salad, which is also incredibly spicy. No thanks, not for me. The place itself is worth a visit.

Absolutely beautiful, very friendly staff, toys for the kids in the courtyard. But the prices are steep. The Kaiserschmarrn is €17... and, with the Paulaner Brewery, you can't serve Mezzomix as a "Spezi." The original belongs on the table. Especially at €5.40 for 0.5 liters.

A nice place for a leisurely walk, a beautiful lake and a wonderful view from the restaurant terrace. I really like it. The food in the restaurant was very tasty, the staff was fast and friendly. We will come again.

We just wanted to have a drink or two, but we would have had to pay admission because there was a children's party on the lawn... We've never experienced anything like it before...

Beautiful ambiance on the lakeside terrace, top-quality food, freshly prepared. Perfect value for money. Staff very friendly, although it took a while to request a second drink. Unfortunately, we had to complain about the second drink because the Prosecco was missing; apparently, the barmaid was a bit distracted. But we'd be happy to come back.

Unfortunately I didn't eat anything else, the menu is very interesting.

Had great food there with excellent service. It was my last day in Munich and the atmosphere along with the food and service is excellent and I'll be back. They also have wonderful service for kids which makes it incredible.

We took a short break while cycling. We had ice cream, chocolate, and plum strudel with coffee. Everything was delicious. I had to ask the waiter three times to pay. That wasn't very nice; he kept serving new guests instead of coming to our table. We had to beg to get our money back.

The food was very good and the staff very friendly. My wife celebrated her birthday and everyone was very satisfied. 👍

A quick visit to the Michael Ende Museum and the other exhibitions. A wedding was taking place in the courtyard. The hall in the castle tavern was set accordingly. Wow! Can we get something? Sure, feel free to sit outside. A friendly server came over. We were served quickly and friendly. A cool light beer and hot chocolate, perfect. Then came the freshly made Auszogne, lightly sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Tastier than in the Schmalznudel! I had the saddle of venison, grilled to perfection with plenty of cranberries and red cabbage. I found the spaetzle a bit too tough, the sauce was fantastic. And they topped it off. Still time for a beer and a coffee? Then there's the Kaiserschmarrn. It was well worth it! Slightly warm strawberries, because you don't like raisins in a fluffy Kaiserschmarrn pancake fried in butter. The plum compote struggled to compete with the strawberries, but it was also very good. When I asked how it's possible to run such a relaxed and excellent restaurant in Munich, they smiled! I'd say we'd be happy to come back! Best regards and thank you very much! P.S. A place for young and old. The castle is located on a small lake and offers many opportunities for walks.

It's a really great place and has a great view of the lake. The food was excellent and freshly prepared. The service is very friendly and helpful, and most importantly, very fast. The atmosphere is simply fantastic; the castle and lake create a wonderful atmosphere; you simply don't want to leave. I can only recommend it and hope to return soon.

Beautiful view of the lake and good food

A decidedly photogenic castle, of which the castle chapel was unfortunately closed. A children's book museum could be visited via a battlement. Here in the 15th century the love affair between hairdresser's daughter Agnes Bernauer and her Duke Albrecht of Bavaria took place (play by Friedrich Hebbel). In front of the castle is a statue for this Agnes.

The castle chapel is closed indefinitely. The museum is open, and has exhibitions about children's books about her, and poems for children. And a piece about a children's book illustrator.

I used to go there for coffee, but they've been refusing cash for some time now. So I've also rejected the business.

The Schlossschänke has a great location, and from the terrace you have a beautiful view of the small lake. We were there for lunch on May 16, 2025 with a reservation. From the menu, which was much more concise than in the past, we chose asparagus with organic char and potatoes. We received three very small potatoes, only two spears of asparagus, and two small pieces of char. The food was actually good. However, the portion for €20 was completely inadequate, and the two spears of asparagus were almost raw and cold. We complained about this. According to the chef's explanation, the asparagus was blanched to preserve the vitamins and was always served cold. And that's how it should be. End of discussion. When we ordered, we were immediately offered Kaiserschmarren (smothered pancakes) as dessert. (€15) Even though I clearly stated that I didn't want dessert, I was asked about it twice. Unfortunately, we were still hungry and dissatisfied afterward, but didn't feel like ordering anything else. Conclusion: My friend, whose birthday it was, made it very clear that she wouldn't go there again.

It’s just a great restaurant in all meanings. Location is the best in the area, they have two terraces, one charming area with a lake view and another side which is quiet and kids friendly. I love the second one, with lots of buggies for children, this idea is just brilliant, thanks a lot! And the restaurant itself, service, food, drinks, choice are all top. Great work.

Great cuisine, very suitable for events and weddings

Great wedding location. We celebrated our wedding here. The location is great. The atmosphere is really great. The tavern is open, but that doesn't matter and in the evening you have the castle to yourself anyway. Service is great; everyone had their food within 5 minutes. Speaking of food. It was fantastic. Rarely have such good food been served. The price is certainly high, but the overall package justifies it. I would describe the price-performance ratio as very good.

We had dinner there in beautiful weather and sat outside. Despite the hustle and bustle, the staff was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and arrived quickly.

Food of the best quality, the braised venison (the host is a hunter) is perfect! It's nice and cozy too! Best recommendation!

We love going here for dinner or sometimes in the afternoon to drink hot chocolate outside. There are blankets to keep you cozy even in the cold, and the boss is always incredibly nice. I was there again with our daughter just yesterday, and we will continue to love stopping by for a cup of hot chocolate or a meal :)

Wir waren am 22.12.24 mit 4 Personen zum Abendessen und hatten alle unterschiedliche Gerichte. Der Service war sehr freundlich und professionell. Das Essen sehr gut....angefangen beim traditionellen Gänsebraten über Würstl und Kalbsfleischpflanzerl bis zum Knödeltris. Die Nachspeisen auch eine Wucht!!!! Und alles wirklich in angemessenen Portionen, die in der Nachspeise ( Apfelstrudel) auch schon sehr üppig waren. Danke für den schönen Abend ❤️

We like to go to the Schlossschänke. The food is incredibly delicious, the staff is super friendly and the Blutenburg atmosphere is fantastic. It is advisable to reserve in advance. I can highly recommend the annual Christmas market and the Blutenburg wine festival. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

We really enjoy being there with the children in the summer. There is a lakeside terrace and a courtyard terrace, the courtyard terrace is also the children's terrace, there are lots of vehicles there that the kids can drive around with. It's super relaxed because everything around it is fenced in by the Blutenburg and children are totally welcome here The food is very tasty and the service is great! All employees are courteous. In the summer we enjoy the delicious iced coffee here every day, usually accompanied by a cake or dessert, and the children enjoy the fries every time. In winter you can sit comfortably in it - but we haven't tried that yet :-)

We wanted to have a nice holiday and have lunch here. Unfortunately we were sent away even though 90÷ of the tables were free. Each one had a note saying “reserved”. Fat society?!

You can eat very well there and they put a lot of effort into taking care of their guests.
