Blue Nile has been delivering the perfect Ethiopian cuisine for decades. Unfortunately, the restaurant is difficult to find and has few seats. But the journey is always worth it. The food offers a great change from the rest of the food.

This was my first time having Ethiopian food and I give it a wholehearted 10/10! If you're in the same boat i'd recommend their plate for two (or more) people, it had a bit of everything and was so filling! If you're looking for good food, this is 100% the place to go!

Food was good, although a bit more expensive. What was unpleasant was that incense was lit right at the table next to us as soon as we had sat down. When I wanted to pay, suddenly only cash payment was possible, even though all cards can be used for payment on the website. This was extremely unpleasant because I wanted to invite my daughter to her birthday dinner and a lovely day ended with discussions about payment. Not only did I end up in this unpleasant/embarrassing situation, but it seems to be common practice. If payment is only possible in cash, this should be pointed out on the website, then it won't be a problem. This situation was very uncomfortable and embarrassing for me.

Great atmosphere as well as super friendly service. The food is really good and the menu is well explained to you when you're there for the first time. Definitely worth a visit and I'll definitely be back 😄

I used to get good portions. Now felt like a blob. You wouldn't be full without the bread. The salad we ordered with it: just a few lettuce leaves, 2 pieces of tomato and 4 slices of cucumber. Too bad.

Unbeatably good food. Simple and very tasty. Vegan options were very good as was the honey wine. Not exactly cheap, but you get very good, home-made food that you would otherwise never make yourself.

We were warmly welcomed, the food was very tasty and authentic. At the table we were presented with freshly roasted coffee beans, which we later drank. We can highly recommend the Blue Nile One and would be happy to come back.

My wife and I discovered Blue Nile One about a year ago and were immediately very excited. The food is excellent and they have very tasty Ethiopian and African drinks. The service is also competent and very friendly. Now we always go there when we have time.

Die Gesamtrechnung belief sich auf 129 Euro. Allerdings haben wir festgestellt, dass die Preise auf Ihrer Speisekarte bei Google Maps deutlich niedriger angegeben sind. Diese Diskrepanz hat uns sehr überrascht und enttäuscht, da uns im Restaurant gesagt wurde, dass die Online-Preise immer günstiger seien. Vor Ort waren die Preise jedoch höher als erwartet. Ich habe sowohl die Rechnung als auch Screenshots der Online-Speisekarte als Beweis gesichert. Es wäre wünschenswert, wenn die Preise sowohl online als auch vor Ort übereinstimmen würden, um solche Missverständnisse in Zukunft zu vermeiden.Das Merkwürdige daran ist, dass ich, als ich mit ihnen sprach und sagte, dass ihre Online-Preise günstiger seien, als wenn man in ihr Restaurant kommt, sie mir antworteten, dass sie sich nicht darum kümmern, was ich online gesehen habe. In any case, I don't recommend any, very bad restaurants in Munich Germany. Very expensive and the grains (injera) are fake...if you eat the food you will get a stomach ache or something...please be careful. I'm really ripped off.

The Ethiopian restaurant is very nice in every way the reception the food content and the flavors are very nice to sit down and eat.

The food was pretty good, but the service was lacking. We ended up being there twice as long as planned because everything took so long. In the two hours there we even didn't get any change to order a second round of drinks. The servers seemed to struggle with simple drink orders. They said that they were understaffed in the kitchen, which I can understand happens, but most of the food there is some type of stew which can be prepared beforehand and heated up in bulk, and it also doesn´t explain how it took nearly half an hour after we asked to pay before we could finally pay and leave. The decor is nice, but the room gets too loud when it's full.

After we had already dined at the big sister “Blue Nile” on Belgradstrasse last year with extremely positive reviews, this time we decided on “One”. Reservation at 7 p.m., food served at 8:35 p.m. - excessive waiting time.. The main course consisting of beef strips, a tomato wedge and the traditional “bread” for 23.00 euros was more than overpriced, especially since there were no side dishes and the quantity left a lot to be desired. Tastes good, but not a highlight. Card payment not possible because the card system didn't work - you read this review here often, which makes you wonder whether there is a card system at all. Service was tried, but understaffed with one waitress for a full restaurant. All in all 2 out of 5 stars and unfortunately not another visit in the future. (Picture shows four (!!!) main courses)

Delicious food and authenticity that I really missed! Since I've discovered the local food in Ethiopia, I've been searching for Ethiopian restaurants in Europe - and this place have the great things Ethiopian kitchen has to offer: •Injera (flat bread) is made from teff flour (by authentic recipe, unlike the cheap wheat replacement I've seen in Budapest...) and have the great taste and pleasant texture; •all the toppings/stews are blended with authentic Ethiopian spices, delicious and well prepared; •mead (honey wine) is really delicious and was served in authentic glassware; •delicius Ethiopian beer and pink guava juice was really good. Maybe the spicy red paste topping (forgot the name) would be a good addition to the already amazing plate, but the combo plate is already great. Portion size did not leave us hungry. 5/5. Would highly recommend this place!

Very expensive food for the experience. It is a must for 2 people to eat from the same plate, even if you order 2 seaparte dishes. This is the experience. They have amazing beer and drink option. Must try - mango beer. The spice level is good, and the fermented bread tastes delicious. The service is really slow, so expect to wait a lot. We paid 32 euros/person for one dish and a drink, excluding tip.

It was our first time eating Ethiopian food. It was an experience. The waiter brought our food to the table, which was arranged on a large plate and kept warm by a traditional straw cover. Cutlery is provided upon request if you don't want to eat with your hands. The taste was very good and the aroma of the African spices lingered for a long time. I can only recommend this little restaurant.

I reserved a table for four in advance. The fact that we got there 30 minutes early wasn't a problem at all. We received a very warm welcome. We had vegan and vegetarian starters and then the vegan mixed platter for 4 people. The various dishes were all to die for. Each one was seasoned in its own way and tasted very good. We were full and unfortunately didn't manage to do everything. After we were served freshly roasted coffee, we couldn't resist here either. After paying by card, we got limoncello and a non-alcoholic alternative on the house. The friendly manner made us feel very welcome and at home. When I'm back in Munich, I'll come back here!

The Blue Nile One is a highly recommended restaurant. Be it the service or the food, it leaves nothing to be desired. There is plenty of choice and is ideal for a sociable get-together. There is only one star deducted for the ambience, as it is unfortunately very loud when it is relatively full.

I want to start with the positive: the food itself is nice and on the spicy side. We ordered the mixed platter for two, which I highly recommend. Note: they don't provide cutlery by default, but you can ask for it. However, the service was just horrible. First, one waitress had no idea about our reservation through TheFork app, leading to a huge mix-up with the bill. Second, the waiter told us "we have to order drinks," which we assumed was part of the "combo," but they were charged separately. When we asked him for drink recommendations, he simply said, "I don't know," which is not the answer you'd expect in a restaurant with niche cuisine. At least suggest an Ethiopian drink! We eventually ordered the honey wine drink, which I personally do not recommend. The decoration and atmosphere are pretty nice. I would have given the place 4 stars if the service was better.

Delicious! The Blue Nile menu offers an extensive range of different dishes (starters, various meat dishes and a dessert variation). The whole thing is rounded off with a soothing honey wine and a hot drink. Our service was very friendly and the authentic ambience made us feel very comfortable here.

Terrible experience, I am from Ethiopia. I would like to first address the issue in Amharic. Please scroll down for English version. The house does not suit the level of its location. He announces that the floor has not been cleaned for a long time. The chair and the table were not cleaned. The decorative pillows are old and tattered. The toilet had no soft and no soap. The pepper from Madbet will be steamed. The food is substandard and covered in a greasy substance like grasso. But the bread alone was good. Hospitality. The boy who brought the food was very nice. But the main host (apparently the owner) opened us up. From taking orders to accounting and answering, it's very frustrating. The most frustrating thing is that when we paid the bill and waited for an answer, it seemed like he was very confused. He gave us no less than throwing away our answer. Impatient for us to leave, he was rushing to seat another waiter where we were seated. I don't think this kind of person deserves to be called a white-faced or bloody king. ------------------------------------------- The floor was dirty, tables not wiped, 'decorative' pillows looked old and worn. The washroom was not hygienic, especially if you consider that it is a place where you are expected to eat by hand. There was some emission from the kitchen that was kind of suffocating especially if you are sitting close to the counter. The food was greasy. I have to admit that the Injera was good. Hospitality: The waiter that brought the food and drink was good. However, the head waiter (probably an owner or something like that) did not behave like someone who should be at service. He seemed upset by our presence there. From the moment we walked in until we left, it seemed like he was trying to be as impolite as possible. I have to mention one specific incidence: He expected tip and delayed to give us back the changes. And when he knew that was not the case, he gave us the change in the most impolite way possible (we didn't tip him of course). Moreover, we overheard some unpleasant comments from him and we are happy that we left. PS: I read that some customers were subjected to remarks that they felt they were targeted at their ethnicities. I am sorry that they had to experience this and assure them that this does not represent even the standards of Ethiopian hospitality. I wish that I could offer them the experience with my improvised Ethiopian dishes at home (the offer is open if they get to contact me). Did I mention that we went there to celebrate my wife's birthday by having some homely vibe? Yeah well, it was the most memorable birthday dinner we've had.

Wir waren heute zu dritt im Blue Nil One und wieder vom leckeren Essen und freundlichen Service begeistert. Zum Schluss gab es auch noch einen Limoncello aufs Haus. Trotzdem muss ich ein paar Schönheitsfehler anmerken: Vor allem wurde bei der Online Reservierung über die Homepage nicht bestätigt, so wie es üblich ist bei Restaurants mit Zeitfenster, dass der Tisch nur für 1,5 Stunden reserviert ist. Dies wurde mir erst vor Ort mitgeteilt und dann auf meine Reklamation auf 2 Stunden verlängert. Desweiteren sind die auf der Homepage angegebenen Preise schon längere Zeit nicht mehr aktuell Auch konnte man nur bar bezahlen, obwohl lt. Homepage auch Kartenzahlung möglich ist. Für mich ist das Restaurant trotzdem eine klare Empfehlung

Really very comfortably furnished, friendly service, but the food didn't convince our taste buds. Since everyone's tastes are different, I didn't rate the food. It was our first time eating Ethiopian food: eating with your hands and sharing large tablets as plates with your friends is one thing, but in my opinion the portion size didn't match the price asked. Overall, it was certainly an interesting experience that we (4 out of 5 people) don't need again.

Great Ethiopian food and great group experience. If you're at least two people, I'd recommend to go for the shared plate. For the shared plate, the food is served on big metal plates on top of the traditional injera (Ethiopian sour flatbread). It's plenty, tasty and the price is very reasonable

For me, as a vegan and person with gluten intolerance, it's not that easy to find a restaurant that meets all of these criteria - so I'm very satisfied and will come back!

I had dinner here with a friend yesterday. We reserved the table online for 7 p.m. The food is delicious, although there were some pieces of lamb that were just gristle. But the best part came after the meal. We wanted to order another drink when we were told there was a birthday there at 8.30pm and we had to leave now. We definitely hadn't been given this information beforehand. Then we were pressured to pay (cash because the EC machine wasn't working, which we were only told at that moment) while the birthday guests streamed in. And then we were charged €20 too much, which I realized too quickly because of how quickly we paid and couldn't prove it because we paid in cash. One of the worst experiences in a long time. I will definitely not eat here again.

The first time I had Ethiopian food...and definitely not the last time! It tasted incredibly good and the service was so good, we felt like regulars... thank you very much, we'll be back soon :)

Just ordered food there to take away. Instead of €56, they collected €75. There was no invoice. Unfortunately, I was only able to see how much it cost when I got home. Of course, the food was delicious, as always. Nevertheless, such a false price is not possible at all.

Even though we didn't have a reservation, we got a table on a Friday evening. The staff was super nice and the food was very tasty, well seasoned and there was a large selection. Something different and really worth a try!

My rating is ambivalent. On the one hand, the waitresses are very friendly and the restaurant is tastefully decorated. But: on the one hand, the tables are extremely narrow, there is only a hand's width between the tables for two. Then as an important tip: if you don't want to wait endlessly for the starter, then take the “standard” mixed platters - they come to the table in no time. But if you order something else, it can take up to 45 minutes. The goat cheese with spinach was really delicious. For the main courses, we tried the “Ethiopian national dish,” chicken in either a spicy or mild sauce with this special Ethiopian bread (like nan, but fermented). Unfortunately, that didn't convince us: the bread looks and feels like a sponge and tastes slightly sour. The sauce and meat were very neutral, both in appearance and taste. And you also have to like the fact that your fingers are clean. Cutlery is also available upon request. Overall: it's ok to try it out once, but we personally won't be coming back.

Sehr leckeres und abwechslungsreiches Essen (haben ein Menü mit einer Platte für zwei Personen bestellt). Das Fleisch war unglaublich zart und alles gut gewürzt. Der Preis scheint erstmal hoch, aber für das Menü bekam jeder von uns zweien Vorspeise, Hauptspeise, Nachtisch und ein Heißgetränk. Da kommt man in München nirgends günstig weg, außerdem ist es ja doch etwas besonderes. Die beiden Bedingungen waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Haben uns gut aufgehoben gefühlt :)

Sehr leckeres Essen, sehr freundliches Personal. Allerdings muss man Zeit und Geduld mitbringen. "Schnell" geht es nur, wenn man bereits um 18h kommt, um z.B. die 30% Vergünstigung (nur nach Tischreservierung) auf a la carte Gerichte in Anspruch zu nehmen.

Wir kommen seit 2007 regelmäßig und es ist immer extrem lecker und der Service ist super sympathisch! Überaus zu empfehlen!

Highly recommended. It is a nice addition to the Munich restaurant variety. Food is great and you eat it (probably traditionally) off a sourdough pancake with hands. But don't worry, they have cutlery. The place is small and cozy but it has very good acoustics, even when it is completely booked, so no screaming over the table is necessary.

We had the menu full course with honey wine to start and coffee at the end, 35 euros each plus drinks. Food was really good , bold rich flavours, satisfying portions. I really recommend the experience, and would easily come back.
