We ate here quite a few times already and it's my favorite restaurant in Munich. I would recommend taking the menu and sharing a big plate together. It's a Great experience and the food tastes fantastic. Many vegetarian options as well We usually ate 2 days from that gigantic portion

The food was delicious. You had to dare to eat with your hands. There was no cutlery. There was a good selection of different small portions on the large plate and you could try a bit of each. The waiters were very friendly and the atmosphere offers plenty of seating.

My Kids love eating with the hands, had the mixed menu and were satisfied.

The staff is incredibly friendly and happy to explain the dishes if it’s your first time trying Ethiopian food. The food itself is absolutely delicious! The injera, a sourdough flatbread, is perfectly made and serves as the base for a variety of flavorful stews and dishes. We tried the vegetarian platter and the doro wat (spicy chicken stew), and every bite was rich with spices and unique flavors. The portions are generous, and it’s a wonderful experience to eat communally, as is traditional with Ethiopian food. Blue Nile is a fantastic spot for anyone looking for something different in Munich’s dining scene. Great food, welcoming atmosphere, and a cultural experience all in one. Highly recommend giving it a try!

Han añadido algunas opciones nuevas al menú en el camino, que también es obviamente agradable. También tienen opciones veganas y vegetarianas. Las samosas, la col rizada y el queso de cabra son algunos de mis favoritos!

The food was fantastic, really a taste explosion in your mouth. We had the 3 course meal and every course was a 10 out of 10. The service was also great, every meal was explained to us and we were always made sure that everything was okay. The ambience was also very nice, everything was decorated in an African style. We will definitely be back or a repeat visit is a must for us.

It's an experience to eat here. You eat without cutlery but with your fingers. The food is delicious!! There are also vegetarian options. I've been here twice and can only recommend it. Ethiopian food is something very special. Gladly again!!

Ethiopian service staff and furnishings too. Depending on your choice, the food is hot or spicy. You eat with your hands. The sourdough bread is very filling. The desserts are also Ethiopian and you can feel the African. A different location than usual. Clean, all dishes have a good taste.

Leider traf der Besuch nicht meine Erwartungen. Als ich kurz nach 18 Uhr das Lokal betrat, war dies noch recht leer. Es gibt eine zweite Etage, welche von unten nicht einsehbar ist. Aber dort befand sich offenbar eine größere Gruppe. Die Tische sind recht eng gestellt, so hörten wir später jedes Wort der Tischnachbarn, welche sich zudem recht laut unterhielten. Die Karte ist wie ein Buch gestaltet und wird sofort gereicht. Die Bestellaufnahme ließ etwas auf sich warten. Wir klärten noch ein paar Fragen und orderten dann die 101 und 555 als Vorspeisen. Bei der 101 handelte es sich um Ye Fiyel Ayib für 7,50 Euro. Das sind Teigtaschen mit Ziegenfrischkäse und Blattspinat. Sie waren schön knusprig und sehr gut mit Käse gefüllt. Interessanterweise erhielt ich Besteck dazu. Meine Freundin zu ihrer Vorspeise nicht. Die 555 meiner Begleitung hieß Yemisir Sambusa (6,50 Euro) und bestand aus hausgemachten Teigtaschen mit braunen Linsen und Kräutern gefüllt. Wie gesagt, sie durfte mit den Händen essen. Ihr hat’s geschmeckt. Als Hauptgerichte wählten wir die 29 und die 35. Die 29 hieß Misirwot (13 Euro) und bestand aus geschälten braunen Linsen in pikanter Soße mit frischen Kräutern, Gewürzen und Frischkäse. Der Frischkäse war nicht cremig, wie wir das gewohnt sind, sondern von anderer Konsistenz. Wohlweislich hatte ich mein Besteck behalten, da ich nicht mit den Fingern essen wollte. Dazu gab es einen Teller Brot. Mir erschloss sich nicht der Unterschied. Obenauf lagen helle dünne Teigfladen, darunter dickere Scheiben aus Sauerteigbrot. Sauer ist hier das richtige Wort, es war nicht mein Geschmack. Insgesamt war das Gericht eher fad, die Kräuter kaum spürbar. Das hatte ich mir anders vorgestellt. Das Gericht meiner Freundin wurde auf dem gleichen Teller, einer großen Schale, serviert. Sie hatte kein Besteck und mühte sich ab, mit den Fingern die Teigfladen zu packen und die Speise zu erfassen. Sie scheiterte irgendwann, da mit einer Regelmäßigkeit das Essen zurück auf den Teller befördert wurde. Sie erhielt auf Nachfrage Besteck. Ihr Gericht hieß Yetsom Beyainetu (15,50 Euro) und bestand aus verschiedenen Gemüsesorten und Hülsenfrüchten aus den Nummern 28, 29, 33 und Grünkohl. Sie war ebenfalls nicht wirklich happy, insgesamt war es ihr zu viel. Die Schorle kostet 4,30 Euro und die Flasche Wasser 6,80 Euro. Der Service ist etwas unkoordiniert. Das hatte ich schon bei meiner telefonischen Reservierung gemerkt, die auf einem Anrufbeantworter landete. Insgesamt 3 mal wurde ich nachträglich versucht zu erreichen. Die Bestätigung der Reservierung auf der Mailbox erfolgte zu einer anderen Zeit als angefragt. Auf Nachfrage einen Tag später stand die korrekte Zeit im Reservierungsbuch. Nachdem wir zahlen wollten, mussten wir uns gedulden. Als die Bedienung endlich kam, war sie nur mit einer Geldbörse bestückt. danach dauerte es wieder mehr als 5 Minuten bevor sie mit Gerät erschien. Nachdem wir gezahlt hatten und aufstehen wollten, kam eine andere Bedienung mit Gerät und wollte uns abkassieren. Als wir ihr mitteilten, dass wir schon gezahlt hatten, sagte sie uns, dass sie mit dem Gerät an unseren Tisch geschickt wurde… Die überreichte Rechnung besteht übrigens keine Kontrolle durch das Finanzamt, da wesentliche Angaben fehlen.

The restaurant certainly offers an exceptional atmosphere with African style. However, in 2024, the portions of the main courses have become extremely small, although the price has remained the same. I paid 35 euros for a small starter and a small main course with a glass of water. The bread that is served instead of cutlery is very sour and inedible to my taste. Maybe I don't understand something about Ethiopian bread.

Delicious food. The sampler menu for two was more than enough plus leftovers for us two. As many mentioned, plenty of vegetarian and vegan options for those who need but also a significant amount of meat options. The honey wine was yummy. We were able to be sat immediately without reservation, but we went around 1900 on a weekday. Within the hour, the place was full and lively so reservations recommended. Service was a bit slowly. Definitely needed to cue staff a few times for things but they were responsive after wards. It’s not a place for a quick bite to eat, but a place to sit and enjoy the food and company.

Authentic Ethiopian food of very good quality. The family enjoyed it! The dining room is a bit noisy but overall a nice place run by pleasant people.

The food is very good. It is served with flatbreads. Whether meat or vegan, it's all there. The operation is quick and remembers everything quite well. If you don't want to eat with your hands, you can also use a fork. Unfortunately it is very loud during rush hour. Nevertheless, we would like to come back again.

Nice authentic atmosphere, classic size. Not too loud. Very pleasant friendly service. And the food was fantastic! There were two of us and we ate the mixed main course platter for two people (17.90 each). 5/5 stars and I'll go there again soon. Anyone who doesn't like eating with their hands is stupid and should ask for cutlery.

Always an experience! The quality of the food has been consistently great ever since. The menu has you covered with mixed starters, main courses and desserts. The atmosphere is very pleasant with a lot of Ethiopian decoration. There is also the option further back to sit on cushions on flat tables and eat there. However, a “normal” table is more recommended for people with limited freedom of movement. I have enjoyed coming here for over 15 years

My favorite restaurant for years 😍 We now drive there from Regensburg (of course, unfortunately less often than before...) Very authentic food and ambience. The people there are just great! Super nice, professional, relaxed... It's like being on vacation there! We recommend either the menu or (at least) the prayer platter, which offers a selection of dishes. The honey wine is also mandatory 😊 Always my pleasure.

I always enjoy coming back and have been here several times, so I knew what to expect. My friend was surprised, but very positively. The food is really great, the portions are more than enough. We can only say positive things about the staff, totally friendly, above-average speed and really warm. Together with the furnishings, you feel very welcome as a guest.

Super delicious food! I've been there often and every time it's excellent. The staff is super nice! Sometimes you have to wait a bit but it's worth it.

A great African food experience with dishes so tasty, one must go back another time to try more. There are a decent amount of meat and vegetarian varieties in both starters and mains. The honey wine was really good too, quite sweet but prominent in taste. Service was a bit slow when our orders needed to be taken which was a bit frustrating, we had to wait for about 15 minutes before someone came around. And trying to signal service staff isn't quite possible either, because they refuse to make eye contact when walking past. They are friendly though and have a warmth about them. Decor was good and made it feel like we're in Africa. It's a very popular place so bookings are highly recommended. We had to wait in a queue for a few minutes, even with a reservation already made. Dogs are also welcome. They allocate a table for you that is more suitable for the furry to relax undisturbed.

Authentic Ethiopian cuisine in the middle of Schwabing. We went to Blue Nile on a Sunday and had a lovely evening. The service was very friendly and the food was great. We had the Blue Nile menu and didn't finish everything. The cuisine is very special and definitely not for everyone. Here you have to be open and you shouldn't have a problem eating with your hands and eating from a plate with others 😉 We sat on a gallery, relatively isolated from the rest of the restaurant. We can't complain about the volume. Definitely a recommendation for anyone who wants to try out a different cuisine in Munich and is open to new tastes!

I have known and loved Blue Nile for about 15 years. It's a great place if you really want something special in an atmosphere where you feel very comfortable from the first to the last minute. The food is incredibly varied (be careful: if it says "spicy" on the menu, then that's what it is). Upscale price segment but really good things don't have to be cheap. Nice people in service and in the audience

Used to be one of the most delicious places for me to eat but after our last experience I'll have to take my money elsewhere. The wait staff don't care they are terrible, a friend's food was forgotten entirely, we asked them for it and they refused to acknowledge that his food was missing so he ate with us. We also received a plate of "extras" that was insisted was ours but was not even close to what we ordered, we started eating it anyways because we now had too little food for our group. And then one of the workers there reached into our table and took our food after I protested and told her to leave the plate there, she yanked it out of my hands. In service there's no sense for her to do this, she's just going to go throw it away anyways. So they couldn't bring to us not only our original order but also apparently some incorrect extras have caused our entire table to sit in shock. Honestly this has been a horrifying experience. I will say the kitchen staff are awesome it's delicious but until their waiting staff is why my money will be going elsewhere from now on.

The service was unfortunately too bad. Although we didnt order drinks which should have been included in the menu, was added in the bill as extra. Although it was the mistake of the restaurant, no responsibility is taken or no make up is offered. They charged almost 7 Euro for a even a tap water which is unnecessarily expensive. Its a no-go place !

It was our first time eating Ethiopian food and the food was certainly interesting. It was fun for two people to eat from a bowl with their hands. The store was packed on Wednesday. What we didn't like was that there was a lot of noise in the store. The voices resonated strongly through the stone floor. The two of us at the table couldn't have a pleasant conversation. Even though the food is interesting, the noise made us happy when we got back outside.

I have several points that struck me negatively. Prices: In my opinion, the price-performance ratio doesn't match at all. €25 for bread and dips and rancid dessert. The honey wine was the only thing that convinced me. Food/Drinks: ! Update! (1 day after) CAUTION Diarrhea - our whole table had their stomachs upset by the food! Stay away from this unhygienic food! The honey wine was delicious. I would have liked cream cheese on the vegetarian platter, like on the meat platter. Unfortunately it felt like there was only bread to eat. The cocktail was too small for my taste and it didn't taste like what I ordered. The dessert, which was unfortunately very small, didn't convince me at all, as the baklava tasted so much like rancid fat at the first bite that I almost had to vomit! The liquor at the end tasted like dish soap, which made things worse! Service: The starters were good, but we waited in vain for forks for the salad. I also haven't had anything to drink for a long time. Ambiance: There was a Christmas candle on the table and a candle jar in the next one... it's just not nice for me. This is not a restaurant I will go to again - shame!

Waren am Samstag, 20.01. dort. Sehr gutes Essen. Auch reichhaltige Portion. Preise natürlich etwas teurer, aber der besonderen Küche angemessen. Sowas isst man ja nicht alle Tage. Auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung.

Wir hatten den vegetarischen Teller für zwei Personen und das Essen war absolut köstlich und aromatisch. Besonders gut gefallen hat mir das schöne Ambiente, man hat sich sehr wohl gefühlt im Restaurant. Auch das Personal war sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und schnell. Sehr empfehlenswert!

Essen gut. Personal Katastrofe. Zu viele verschiedene Kellner und keiner weiß, was man schon beim anderen bestellt hat. Kein aufmerksamer Service. Getränke nicht zum Essen gebracht. Alles muss man nachfragen. Rechnung falsch.

Das Essen hier ist gut, aber nicht so fein und ausgeklügelt gewürzt, wie in anderen äthiopischen Restaurants, in denen wir schon gegessen haben. Besonders ist uns das bei der gemischten vegetarischen Platte aufgefallen. Der Service war leider etwas chaotisch, aber auf jeden Fall freundlich und bemüht: Wir mussten mehrere Minuten im Eingangsbereich warten, bis wir zu unserem Tisch gebracht wurden, wir wurden mehrfach gefragt, ob wir schon bestellt hätten und mussten ca. 20 Minuten auf die Getränke warten. Besonders empfehlenswert ist eine Reservierung im kleinen, etwas erhöht gelegenen Raum. Dort stehen nur wenige Tische und es ist gemütlicher und nicht so laut wie im Hauptbereich des Restaurants. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist okay.

Waren spontan da und waren sehr angenehm überrascht. Sehr nette Bedienung, das Essen war ausgesprochen gut und ungewöhnlich. Tolle Alternative wenn man mal was außergewöhnliches möchte.

The food is hot and delicious! Everything is served on a bed of Injera bread that is the perfect complement to the meat and sauces and makes it much easier to eat with your hands. They serve a honey-wine that is very good and complements the food perfectly. The atmosphere is also quite nice and the place well designed. The small tasting menu has so much food it's tough to eat it all. The price is very fair and well below the Munich average (20€ per person including beverages and I could barely stand, so much was the food I had eaten). Now to the upsetting bits: the waiting time, even in a not-so-crowded evening, was very long, so take that into account. Also, the bill was wrong (with extra beverages we didn't order)... Just double check before you pay!

Wir waren zu zweit und hatten Ziegenkäse mit Spinat im Blätterteig als Vorspeise und scharfes Hähnchen und Lamm mit scharfer und milder Soße als Hauptspeise. Das Essen hat uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Das Brot auf dem das Essen angerichtet ist, hat fast keinen Eigengeschmack, was sehr gut zu dem Essen gepasst hat. Scharf war auch wirklich scharf. Etwas vergleichbares haben wir noch nicht gegessen. Ich werde es auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.
