Abyssinia Restaurant Teff in München

The staff was nice. Foods were ok but portion rather small.

Sorry, that was a complete disaster. Expensive, no atmosphere, small portions, tasteless to the point of being awful.

The appetizer was an outrage: two spoonfuls of millet, two spoonfuls of lentils, one stalk of broccoli, a bit of cabbage and carrots... this was supposed to be an Ethiopian appetizer platter... if only it had been seasoned, but unfortunately it wasn't. The main course was a small bowl of sauce that was tasty, small pieces of meat, and cold millet pancakes that were sold as bread and looked like a sponge. While we were eating, the waiter simply sat with his back to us, so we couldn't order any more drinks. We left hungry. The portions were too small, and we won't be coming back.

We recently ate at another Ethiopian restaurant and unfortunately found that Abyssinia paled in comparison. Overall, we can only say that we haven't eaten this badly in a long time. The meat was hard to find, and the portion size was an outrage for the price. It's a shame to leave hungry. The friendly waitress was also the cook.

We had a Groupon but were refused service unless we ordered drinks out of pocket. I liked the food but it was heavy and scharf, so it is not for everyone. There is no separate kitchen, just a bar like area to prepare and plate the food. The pace is tiny, not my vibe. Ours was the only food order of the evening, and yet they did not manage to get it correctly. And the worst of all are the ridiculous menu prices for what this is! There are many many much better restaurants for these or lower prices around in the city. Even considering our Groupon prices, we know overall better places. Summary: Terrible value, avoid!

The food was interesting and tasted good. Unfortunately, there wasn't nearly enough of it. I went to McDonald's afterward. The price/performance ratio wasn't good. The lady in the kitchen was nice and friendly. Otherwise, everything seemed very slow and disorganized. One of the men couldn't speak German, and the other seemed very out of place. I unfortunately won't be coming back, even though I would have liked to try more of their dishes.

Absolutely disappointing! I've never eaten so badly. I had cramps, heartburn, and bloating for hours afterward. The food wasn't freshly prepared; it had been microwaved. The chicken leg was undercooked, there was hardly any lamb in the dish, the beans were undercooked and barely seasoned. The food was served lukewarm. Small portions and overpriced—a complete no-go!

Interesting culinary experience, since you don't have so many African restaurants in München, it makes sense to pay a visit. It's not a real restaurant with professional cooks and chefs, it's just an Abyssinian lady cooking using regular home equipment, but it reproduces the authentic taste.

The chicken dorowat was very tasty and came with the injera flatbread. I enjoyed the spice level. The service was nice and relaxed. The place was also very clean. I would recommend visiting here!

Unfortunately, we were the only guests in this restaurant, which I find completely baffling. The owner was very friendly and accommodating, and the food was fantastic. We ordered both vegetarian and meat dishes, and we were all delighted. The portions were very generous and reasonably priced; everyone was satisfied. Fresh sourdough bread was readily available upon request. Overall, a very authentic restaurant, and I will definitely visit again! (One thing to note: especially when it's busy, there can be longer waiting times, which only speaks to the quality of the food.)

I've always loved Ethiopian food, but this was a disappointment! The restaurant is completely understaffed, and you have to expect a long wait. The food is seriously overpriced, and it lacked the flavor that Ethiopians are so famous for. The bread was most likely from yesterday, and my spritzer was very thin. There was no music playing in the restaurant, and the atmosphere overall wasn't very friendly. What a shame! There's so much potential here.

€17.50 for a beef main course consisting of a small bowl of strips of beef seasoned with salt and pepper. Ethiopian spices not to be confused. It was served with a cold flatbread of sourdough bread. Disappointing in every respect. No vegetables or side dishes, not even a lettuce leaf. Unbelievably poor value for money.

Speisekarte konnte nicht erfüllt werden. Speisen sehr klein gehalten( Nicht satt geworden), Geschmack schwach gehalten, Preis weitaus zu hoch für so eine kleine Äthiopische Speise. Absolut lächerlich dieses angebliche Restaurant. 72 € für 3 Gerichte mit Getränke. Hauptgericht wurde in Vorspeiseschälchen Serviert. Den Laden sollte man schließen.

I have ordered Alychawot (Beef in mild sauce with carrots and potatoes). I have got 3 not enough cooked slimy beef slices with potato and carrots in unsalted water. No sauce was served. It costed 15 € and I was still hungry. The only bright part was the bread... This restaurant is definitely not my recommendation.

We were here for the first time today. The restaurant is really cozy - although small with 20 seats. The food was very good and above all spicy and tasty. The landlady was also available for a nice chat. We felt we were in good hands. There is also card payment. We'll be back

We became aware of the restaurant because of a voucher booklet and wanted to try it out. Of the many dishes on the menu, only 3 were actually available. We chose the national dish. It was so incredibly spicy that it was inedible (and I actually like spicy food). A note about this in the menu would have been helpful. The waitress forgot to serve some of the food and only delivered it when asked. It was uncomfortably cold in the restaurant, and the guests at the neighboring table were also freezing. The service was poor, inattentive and slow. Very long waiting time despite fewer tables. The prices are overpriced. Price-performance doesn't fit. Card payment is apparently not possible (but there is no information about this when you enter). Overall massively disappointing.

The food is warmed up and served it is not freshly cooked. Service woman was unfriendly as I am the neighboring country clearly said she was racist. I had two orders for 48 euros and on top of that she made me pay for a plastic one. Disrespectful, we are not in your homeland in Germany

On a Sunday at lunchtime we were the only guests in the small restaurant, which only has a few tables. Unfortunately the room was not heated and it was uncomfortably cold. The lady who served us and cooked for us was friendly and told us a few details about the Ethiopian flatbread. Many main dishes include lamb or beef on the menu, but unfortunately there was no lamb. My meal (beef with onions and peppers) was good, but very meat-heavy with very few vegetables. My companion's meal (beef with potatoes and carrots in a mild sauce) was hardly seasoned, consisted almost entirely of potatoes and you had to look for the meat. The mocha after the meal was fine and had a great aroma. Unfortunately, compared to Blue Nile, the visit to the restaurant was rather disappointing.

The food was tasty but unfortunately not enough. You have to wait at least an hour and it was Monday evening. However, around 7:30 p.m. a man showed up who we had no idea who he was, but he still started serving the visitors. You can certainly do better. It's a shame, I really wanted this cuisine.

A nice concept in itself, but if you don't want to wait less than 2 hours for your food, you shouldn't eat here. The food wasn't our cup of tea either. Which doesn't mean that others can't enjoy it.

We made a reservation online for Sunday lunch a week in advance, but the restaurant was closed for the appointment. We stood in front of locked doors and no one answered the phone. It's a shame and really disappointing.

We wanted to give the restaurant a try despite the bad reviews because I wanted to eat Ethiopian food again and the prices were me Passing seemed fair. However, the prices in the showcase in front of the restaurant are far lower than those on the menu at the table. Das Essen hat sehr schlecht Geschmeckt. Nie wieder. Das Injera hart auch nicht Geschmeckt genauso wie der Vorspeiseteler. Außerdem war es viel zu teuer. Definitiv keine Empfelung

If you want Ethiopian food then you've come to the right place 🥰 Here the boss cooks personally and uniquely, it was very tasty and you can immediately taste the love for her craft. There were two of us there today. My first time eating Ethiopian food. You immediately feel welcome in this small but fine restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and the service was excellent. Since we were very curious, we each ordered 2 main courses. I had a spicy goat dish and a beef/lamb dish with peppers. Delicious!! We ate Ethiopian style which was a lot of fun. Of course there are also knives and forks. I can only warmly recommend this small restaurant

Unfortunately I have to agree with the other comments. The prices are very high for the portion size. I find a starter for 10 EUR that only consists of a small pile of couscous/rice, plus a little cream cheese and canned beans, very steep. Even after the main course I was still hungry. The taste was good, but I don't want to leave the restaurant hungry when you pay 30 EUR per person.

Small restaurant with a very friendly and committed boss who freshly prepares the food herself. I don't know Ethiopian cuisine and don't know if it is authentic. But I enjoyed it very much. Some were spicy, some were not spicy at all. Even if the portions didn't look so generous at first glance, it was still more than expected. So gladly again.

I even get a liver loaf roll sold with more enthusiasm in Munich. The meal went like this, 3 x 1 cm cubes of meat for around 16 euros is quite sporty, especially when a fly at the next table gets the rest of the sugar for free. It all sounds pretty harsh, but it's just well-intentioned advice. Operational blindness has set in here.

The staff is very nice and helpful. Food will take a while to be cooked. The portions are small, for example only two pieces of chicken in the dish. One may need appetizers or more than one dish. Food is served with Ethiopian bread.

Achtung Kabel eins abzocke, Ich war mit meine freundin da alles war schlechter war noch das wir nach dem essen richtig Bauchschmerzen gehabt haben außerdem ist zu teuer, Liber für 6€ Döner essen gehen oder wo anders probieren.

Die Leute sind super nett 👍 und das Essen schmeckt gut.😋 Leider sind die Portionen sehr klein 🤏 und die Preise vergleichen mit anderen afrikanischen Restaurants etwas höher. Spezi hat nach Freeway geschmeckt. Mein Tipp an die Inhaber. Portionen etwas größer machen und bei den Getränken nicht unbedingt ein Freeway Spezi anbieten sondern ein Paulaner zum Beispiel. Dann würde es auch 5 Sterne geben. Die höheren Preise wären dann auch kein Problem mehr.

The food is good and freshly prepared. I was craving for Ethiopean food and we could book last min place here. It being a weekday was an advanyage. The hosts are friendly and give good suggestions. We liked the taste and the service.

1. Viel zu teuer 2. Falsche Lockpreise auf Website 3. Super schlechter Service 4. Schlecht vorbereitet/wenig vorhanden 5. Wenige Zutaten, nicht mehr wie auf den Fotos hier! 6. Schlechte Qualität 7. Abzocke bei Getränken 1.+2. Im Internet sahen die Preise fair aus. Auf der echten Speisekarte dann alles 3-4 Euro mehr! Wieder dieses typische BETRUGSMASCHE: Preise im Internet günstig lassen, im Laden kräftig erhöhen und die dummen Gäste zahlen ja eh, wenn sie schon mal da sind! 3. Beim Betreten des Restaurants blieb die Besitzerin, die uns keines Blickes würdigte, telefonierend draussen sitzen. Dann kam sie irgendwann rein und telefonierte drinnen weiter, gab uns telefonierend (noch immer kein Blick oder Begrüßung) die Karte und telefonierte noch eine Weile weiter. Wir waren Donnerstag um 18:30 die einzigen Gäste. 4.+5. auf der Website ploppt sogar ein Fenster auf, dass sagt "Wir haben jetzt Ziegenfleisch". Mein Mann freute sich sehr drauf. Leider war es dann komplett aus. Es gab nur Rind und Huhn. Mein Hühnergericht, dass auf der Speisekarte von Wolt und hier in den Reviews auf Fotos wirklich super aussah (Fladen mit Hühnerfleisch in Soße, mehrere Kleckse Frischkäse, 3 Eierhälften, Gurkenscheiben), sah einfach nur traurig aus: 1(!) Klecks Frischkäse (er war lecker, aber lächerlich wenig), keine Gurken und es hieß: "Die Eier koch ich gerade noch!" Nach 20 Minuten (!) fragte ich: "Ich bin gleich fertig. Wann kommen die Eier?", sagte sie: "Die kochen noch!" Ich: "Eier müssen doch nicht 20 minuten kochen!" Sie: "Doch, die sind noch nicht fertig!" Ich: "Dann müssen Sie es anders timen und DAVOR kochen!" Sie: "Ich hatte keine gekochten Eier mehr." Ich "Dann schauen Sie VOR Öffnung des Ladens nach, ob Sie noch Eier haben. Geben Sie mir jetzt einfach die Eier, die sind sicher fertig!" Sie servierte dann 1 Ei mit den Worten "Es ist noch nicht fertig. Deutsche können die Eier vielleich roh essen, wir essen es hart!" NATÜRLICH war das ei nach 20 Minuten komplett hart, meine Fresse! 6. Ob der Geschmack typisch traditionel war, kann ich nicht sagen. Für mich schmeckte alles nach Gemüseeintopf, wenn ich alles zusammenschmeisse und mit Tomaten aus der Dose mische. Die Qualität war aber schlecht. Mein Freund spuckte jedes Flesichstück wieder aus, weil er es nicht beissen konnte. Ich hatte billiges Hühnechn (keine Brust) mit Knochen. Die Flasen schmeckten extermst sauer. Weiss nicht, ob die so gehören. Bei der schlechten Vorbereitung denke ich mittlerweile, dass einfach was Abgelaufenes verwendet wurde. 7. Es gab keine große Flasche Wasser, so dass wir 2 einzelne Wasser für 3,70 pro Stück bestellen mussten. Das stille Wasser kostet sogar 10 mehr, obwohl es wahrscheinlich einfach nur aus der Leitung kommt. POSITIV: Schönes Ambiente und man bekommt einen Tisch ohne Reservierung, da NIEMAND kam in der Stunde zwischen 18:30-19:30. LEIDER NICHT EMPFEHLENSWERT.

The food was extremely delicious, Dorowat and Keywot. The ethiopian coffee was an exceptional experience with the authentic aroma and smell of Frankincense. The stuff is super friendly.

Wir haben dieses Restaurant über den Schlemmerblock (Gutscheinbuch) gefunden. Im Vergleich mit einem anderen äthiopischen Restaurant in München waren die Gerichte sehr eintönig (nur Fleisch ohne Beilage, z.B. Gemüse). Dafür war es deutlich zu teuer. Der Service ließ auch zu Wünschen übrig. Die Vorspeise wurde vergessen. Bei der Bestellung eines weiteren Getränks wurde mein erstes Glas erneut verwendet. Das Ambiente wurde durch einen großen Fernseher gestört, der einschläfernde Musik abspielte. Ich kann das Restaurant also nicht weiter empfehlen.

Personal ist freundlich. Etwas chaotisch organisiert. Die Vorspeise kam gleichzeitig mit dem Hauptgericht. Das Gericht war mir geschmacklich zu deutsch.

Schon das das Restaurant Offen hat Denn hier sind Speise und Getränke wie in Ethiopia ,besonder Beyayntu ,wir haben mit meine Frunde Tibs , Doro Fleischsauce gegessen!!! Tips es war wie Ethiopia .(realy like in Ethiopia )

the restaurant is small and cozy and the server is extremely friendly and sweet, one extra star just for him. he will explain you the food as well as how to eat it. the Ethiopian Cuisine is a very good change from the usual cuisines we try in Munich. Its very tasty and healthy too. its gluten free grain and high on protein. I would definitely go here again.

Finally a place with really good, 100% Teff-Injera, which they make *fresh* and from scratch. Even though the portions are on the smaller side, compared to other ethiopian places, the flavours are exquisite and you can tell the love that goes into cooking the food.

Tolles Essen mit super Service. Es ist sehr herzlich und das Essen ist der Wahnsinn. Jeder der mal was besonderes essen möchte sollte unbedingt das Abyssinia ausprobieren.

Super cooler Laden. Authentische Küche und Ambiente. Wir waren zum ersten Mal äthiopisch Essen und wurden vom Personal sehr freundlich in die Essgewohnheiten eingeführt. Definitiv einen Besuch wert!

I was in thise Restaurant with my Friends to test Ethiopian Food , The food was really test good. I Ate beyayntu,that is different type of vegetable, it test super super And Tibs (,Doro) Ethiopian national Food also super !!.

Das Nationalgericht Äthiopiens war mit Hähnchen und gekochtem Ei, sehr schmackhaft, lecker würzig und pikant. Dazu noch die warme Gemüseplatte. Es war sehr reichlich. Eine tolle Experience. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Great authentic Ethiopian food. This restaurant is one of those rare places in Munich, where you feel like you are somewhere else. Pleasant flair and excellent food. And If you like it hot, there is great spices.
